    Fancy Deviled Eggs and bruschetta
    Megan H.

Went to check this place out with a friend. It's a cute little joint right in the middle of downtown. It's under ground and nice and cool for the warm weather. They have happy hour from 4-7 everyday which is awesome. We tried their mai tai ($13), and mother of spring ($12) for drinks. We also go the fancy deviled eggs ($7) on happy hour and the bruschetta ($9) I will admit the food was a bit pricey for what you received but we went mainly for the atmosphere and drinks. Overall the vibe is amazing, it's LGBT friendly. Wonderful events that happen all the time. I'll be back to check out their drag brunches soon.

Underbar rocks! If you're in the Couve, this is the best place to see stand up comedy, a drag show or just kick back with friends. Fun staff, great drinks, great food

Great place for some fun entertainment on a Sunday evening with friends! The ceiling in this bar is something else. I love all the art work on the walls and they have it decorated for Halloween!

Here for the haunted under bar reveal hosted by Jeff Davis. The TAPS member Big River Paranormal group performed the ghost research and investigation. The warm cookies and food were a welcome bonus. The service was absolutely great I especially loved the hot pretzel- a favorite treat of mine. The drink menu was impressive we stuck to diet pop for this occasion We had blt and under bar burger both with fries First thing I gotta say is kudos on fries as they are paired with perfect crunchy outside delicious potato inside The blt had fresh left and tomatoes above in taste bacon was a little thinner than I prefer but still had solid flavor The burger was ample in size with generous portions and very filling a solid option This tiny place packs a big punch offering many events monthly for fun please see their Google listing for more specifics This is a full service bar with many fun features including drag brunch, sexy bingo, karaoke nights and much more

    Sausage "jumbo" biscuits and gravy

Great Fun Camp Drag with great friends and food and cocktails. If you are a fan of classic gay theme show's tv movie broadway you'll definitely appreciate this! Delightful little off the beaten path and under ground bar in Vancouver, Washington. I drove from Beaverton and it only took 25 minutes! That's right! 25 minutes! So do it! The campy drag brunch is a fun place for a group of friends wanna have a very reasonably priced bar food, and breakfast. I had the sausage biscuits and gravy. I was not expecting 2 jumbo size biscuits,"Yes, the jumbo biscuits were baked all the way through" covered in country sausage gravy. Drink specials and the food is quick. The staff makes you feel comfortable.

We went for comedy night and had a good time. The staff was excellent. The bar is fairly small so it did get pretty warm with all the people. The one thing that I didn't like was paying $15 for gas station nachos. The drinks were fine but I wouldn't recommend the food.

    Open-mic for stand-up comedy!

I would suggest dimmer lighting. The atmosphere was great but the lighting was very abrasive.

Great prices, great drinks. Mixed drinks are hand created so service is slower than brew pubs.

The place itself is beautifully decorated with low warm lighting. And there's even live jazz music/ musicians playing. My favorite thing about The Underground is how good their sides are and the different options to choose from. If you like truffle get their truffle Mac & cheese or the truffle mashed potatoes. They add the perfect amount of truffle where you can actually taste it but it also doesn't overwhelm the dishes. The portions of these sides are also big enough to share family style. Steaks here are sold a la carte. Every time I come back I like to try a different one and so far my favorite is the peppercorn steak! The caprese salad was light and fresh--it was a nice break to eat this from all the heavy foods. I've been here a couple times and our server were always so nice and helpful. Service and hospitality are on point.

Well, that's just not the case anymore. The Underground is in The Monarch hotel, which was independently-owned until some corporation bought it, and the new ownership systematically destroyed everything that made The Underground unbeatable. I intentionally held off on writing any updates to my review because I wanted to give (new) staff a chance to work the kinks out under the new ownership. Well, nothing improved, and everything got worse: * The AWESOME lobster bisque? GONE * The mushroom medley served with the steaks? GONE * Freshly-prepared appetizers? GONE **NOTE: Some of my favorites were still on the menu, but they're clearly made ahead-of-time with far inferior ingredients and reheated before service *The amazing Jacobsen finishing salt lovingly and PERFECTLY sprinkled on every steak before service? GONE *The AMAZING staff that LITERALLY were literally more like family than wait staff? GONE (well, probably 95% of them anyway, a literal couple originals were still on-staff during my last visit, but they clearly weren't happy, and appeared to be under a LOT of stress). *Steaks that defy their relatively low price point? GONE **The steaks are still on the menu, but the prices have skyrocketed (seriously, some by as much as $25 per on my last visit), and the quality is and preparations are far WORSE than previous. The previous steakhouse menu has been added to with other non-steak dishes, but they're even worse than the steaks now are. Their web site shows that they're "closed for renovations" for two months, but I doubt I'll be back. I doubt it will be even remotely close to what it was before when they're done with it (who knows, they may just put a chain restaurant franchise down there). DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!

The room alone almost made it worth my time. The English pea risotto was very good, and the house fries were good. The French-oaked flight I requested was a sad effort. The bartender never asked what distillers I had as options other than indicating that Makers 46 must be what I'm after when I said French oaked and creamy was my vibe, to which I raised an eyebrow and indicated I was ok if he started with that in my flight as a base for comparison. Otherwise he never asked whether I'd like to spend good money on something special (I would have said yes) and later claimed these were the only French-oaked bottles they even had in stock despite a claimed inventory of over 2,000 whiskeys. What arrived: Penelope Architect--nothing at all on the nose, something like wood paneling on the palate. Angel's Envy Triple Oak--tasted just like the Angel's Envy Rum Cask I can get at the supermarket. Maker's 46--the best of those three, yet still quintessentially basic as a wheated French-staved bargain buy, which, by the way, I never indicated I was there for. When I diplomatically indicated my that my flight was totally blasé and asked for one last pour in hopes of redeeming the experience, he brought me a redundant Maker's Heart Series in which the heart was made of mildly chocolate-inspired disappointment. Staff clearly put effort into educating and serving, and the environment is special enough that I hope to return with friends for that alone, even though I was rushed out due to a scheduled reservation needing my unscheduled seat. Ultimately the pours left me with an extremely unimpressive result and a future 0-for-2 that I'd be willing to risk in hopes of their redemption. Exceptionally impressive venue, if totally unimpressive flight curation.

For one, their food menu for a place in Portland was quite lacking. In Portland where it's very easy to get great bar eats, I was disappointed to see goldfish and cheese platter amongst the only food they serve. The drink selection seemed small (if the goal is they specialize in drinks and not food). My drink was tasty but quite small. I love the mural, and the ambiance is great. It was indeed bubbly and refreshing. Tho very light given there was vodka in it. The aesthetic of the place is very minimalistic. It was super quiet and bright when we were there. So the vibe can be a little sterile. Bartender was great. We just wanted a quick drink and he delivered. Once my friends joined us, one ordered a quick soda and we were on our way to dinner.
