This place is a hidden gem! If you're in the area, you have to stop by and make sure you have a lot of time to see everything! It's like an antique mall. We arrived only an hour before they closed, and I only saw about 1/4 of the vendors areas before they announced the 15 minutes till close. I ended up walking through the rest of it as quickly as I can and I didn't get to see everything. The prices vary widely, which makes sense, since items are priced by different vendors. I ended up purchasing a vintage frame holder, and I can't wait to go back!

Love this place! The amount of stuff here is just amazing. Something for every collector to enjoy! I found big silver buttons that look like they should go on a Captain America coat. There was some fun jewelry and pins I didn't have enough time to check. They are open from 10 AM to 6 PM. What a bummer! I'd love to see them open til 8 PM on the weekends, but I get it. The economy is crazy and scary and this seems to work for them. Found a doll that looked mean as hell. Not taking HER home. Totally haunted. I always stop here to enjoy the variation and the people watching. Just so fun!

Went here on 4/11 on my recent trip to Austin to find a gift for my sister in law's birthday; she collects crucifixes as she's a pretty devout Catholic. I'm not religious but wanted to buy her something unique that she would like. She was over the moon with what I found for her. Friendly service but on the pricey side. Takes a bit of digging to find what you want but that's ok.

Y md cm So many different things in here. beautifully displayed. Small charming vignettes. Sort of displayed in color groupings. Visually sumptuous. There's definitely something for every collector. Bring your piggy bank because this place is expensive. Not much value here. Many items we were interested in here was double/triple what sold online marketplace factoring even shipping. They do have unique items. However if you've been looking for something and can't find it online and have a wallet needing to burn some cash well this is the place for you.

Beyond cool shop where antique collectors and artists sell their wares on consignment. Literally something for everyone here! If I'm looking for a unique gift, this is the place. If I want to bring out of town guests, this is the place. As someone "in the know" when it comes to antiques and collectibles, I find most of the pricing to be fair. Employees are super friendly.

This place is pretty awesome. There are so many cool and curated items here that you're sure to find something antique. I'm so glad that it's quality items and not the popular things that pop up at other shops. There's a lot of fun taxidermy animal people posing around the store, metal cookingware hanging up, a section with animal bones, vintage globes, and there's just so much to see here. The owners are very nice as well. Parking has a small lot out front and parking behind it.

A gem of an antique store and longtime Austinite favorite. My husband brought me here as part of a date, and I wasn't expecting the store to be filled to every corner with shiny things I liked!

This place is just incredible, if you like thrift, antique, and cool creepy stuff - you have to come here. Prices are Austin thrift prices, it's a nice place with a nicely displayed collection. I found a cutie brass cup missing the saucer, and I asked the front desk, not only did they go looking for it for me, they contacted the seller about lowering the price when it wasn't found. The staff were incredibly friendly.

Uncommon Objects is a great name for this place, it just makes sense. Honestly the best antique shop I've ever gone to. They have the cutest things ever, big or small. I bought a tiny brass swinging chair, and I never buy anything from antique stores but it was too cute. They have something for everyone and the store is well organized. Great way to kill a solid hour-hour and half in Austin. We came here before heading to the airport, it was honestly so fun. Parking is easy.

Nice people running the store. There's a parking lot behind the store. It was a little overwhelming since there was so much stuff and it was a little hot, but overall a fun visit.

Ask the Community - Uncommon Objects

Do you have a method of picking up larger pieces of furniture or is that my responsibility?

We do not do any furniture pickups.

I have 2 sets of dining chairs that I was about to give away for free but realized that I should first know if I could sell them & for how much. If I send you pics of chairs and labels on bottom, could you give me a price you would pay?

Hi, if you have items you are interested in selling, you may email photos to us at buyers@uncommonobjects.com. Please include the price you would like for your items.

Do you take 4 antique table legs with crystal claw balls?

Hi, feel free to email us about any items you would like to sell. Send pictures and the price you have in mind to buyers@uncommonobjects.com and thanks for thinking of us.

Do you have someone who does antique furniture appraisals?

We do not do any appraisals. We often recommend going through your insurance company for recommendations.

    Do you take deer mounts?

If you have items you’d like to sell, you may bring them by the shop on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday morning at 10am and see if there are any vendors in the shop that are interested in taking a look at them.

Do you buy antiques? I have crystal stemware @62 pieces, same pattern 6 sets of 12 different types of German crystal, German Crystal punch bowl and punch cups that are 27 yrs old.

Thanks for your question. The crystal stemware would probably not be a good fit for us. But there are many antique shops in Austin. We recommend checking out the website for Vintage Around Town in Austin to find a few to contact. Thanks!

Hedgehog sponge holder do you have6 in stock for $9.00?

That is not something we have. We are an antique mall. Perhaps you are thinking of Uncommon Goods?

    Does anyone appraise art here?

No. We do not offer appraisals.

Anyway, I love Room Service and have been coming here for years. Long before I relocated to Austin from the East Coast. It's part of my North Loop Jaunt where I hit up all my fave places in the neighborhood every few months or so. Prior to relocating, I'd visit Austin twice a year and always made time to stop in. This is one of the most inspiring and well laid out vintage stores ever. You can just get lost for hours. So many ideas for home decor and styling. They've always got a grand selection of MCM (Mid-Century Modern) furniture and accessories. My house is 99% MCM. They've really just got the best collection of everything. Trinkets, knickknacks, patches, light fixtures, dishes, mirrors, art, clothing, records, jewelry...you get my drift. Service is so super friendly and welcoming. I am particularly fond of the pro-trans sign in the entrance window!! Everything they carry is in very good to pristine condition and pricing is reflective. With that said, the prices are extremely fair. I can't recommend Room Service enough. Support local. Support small business. Sustainability. Be creative.

The space is very truly a thrift shop--bit of everything everywhere in the main room, and it's very fun to walk around and look for little treasures! Kevin explained to me that he rearranges his shop pretty often (he cheekily calls the practice "funk shui") to get people's eyes on different items every time they come in. He tends to get his wares from estate sales, auctions, and considers himself a treasure hunter. And I must agree! Lots of treasures in Far Out, and I loved sifting through them. If you make your way in, you'll likely hear from Kevin that he's open to negotiation and bundling items for reasonable deals. He seems just to be genuinely excited to find cool items and give them new homes. And I appreciate that energy a lot. I came in looking, loosely, for some home decor as my husband and I outfit our home after moving back to Texas from Georgia. But nothing felt quite right on the decor side. But I saw some beautiful pieces and walked out of the store with a vintage book I was excited about. So I consider it a successful trip. :) Make a trip over to check out Kevin's treasures. I don't recommend this store after seeing how this owner was treating my kids. I would like to let people know how we were treated in the store. We were visiting the store for the very first time. My kids were very excited to shop around for toys. My little one dropped one toy to the floor, then the owner yelled to both of them. Ordered them to put down all the toys and not touching anything any more. After that, my kids were getting terrified literally and refused to enter any store on that street. We have never been treated this way before. How you are treating customers is also the way you treat other people. Be careful of this store if you are considering about it. Google review is not true.
