Then, the Lahaina wildfires happened. The entire town burnt down and the death toll keeps climbing (currently at 106 fatalities. Was at around 20-30 at the time of my communication with the host). My trip was 3 weeks away from the time of the fire. My friend and I wanted to respect Maui during this grieving time, not use up the island's resources, and not pretend like we are in paradise vacationing while hundreds of people are homeless, jobless, and grieving loved ones. We explained to the host that we were not comfortable continuing with our vacation and would appreciate an exception to her cancellation policy and receive a full refund. At the time of the fire, we had just missed the full refund cancellation deadline by 8 days. The host declined and explained that the rest of the island is fine/open. After a few days, I tried again and kindly asked for an exception as the death toll climbed. She still declined. I decided to call Airbnb support and immediately upon hearing the word "Maui," the Airbnb support customer service agent gave me a full refund and confirmation was in my email within 2 minutes. No questions asked. Alaska Airlines also gave me a full flight refund exception against their non-refundable policy. This is what you do during a declared natural disaster. Holding people's money hostage during catastrophe does not reflect well on your character. I even told the host I would gladly still book her unit in the future if/when my friend and I replanned a Maui trip -- we will obviously not be doing that anymore. Greed is not a good look.

Maui Getaway. The…read morelisting and photos are misleading. This property is not near the beach and is located in a town area behind a Chinese restaurant and the entrance itself feels confusing and sketchy when arriving for the first time. The check-in process was one of the worst I've experienced. I never properly received the reservation/access information and spent a long time trying to fiddle with the 8+ different lock boxes (because there isn't even an office to check in at) and brute force trying different codes before having to call management for help. Rather than resolving the issue professionally, management blamed Expedia and told me it was my responsibility to fix their communication problems. The property itself feels uncomfortable at night. You must pass through a locked security gate to access the rooms, and the lighting around the property is very poor. There are also roosters nearby that start crowing early in the morning. There are numerous warnings and hidden-feeling fees throughout the stay, including a possible $30 AC surcharge and threats of $100 checkout penalties if you fail to message management when leaving despite internet and mobile service in the area being unreliable (see attached) Most concerning was the behavior from management after I raised concerns about my stay. I received messages threatening authorities and pressuring me not to leave a negative review. The overall communication felt hostile and unprofessional. (See attached) There are far better places to stay in Maui for similar pricing. I would not book here again.

Unit 113 This review…read moregot two stars because you can't not give two stars in Maui, the natural beauty and the beach gets a minimum of two stars automatically in my opinion. However, our stay in this unit does not deserve more than that. When we got to the location on Friday night. We discovered that one of the two rolled up beds was broken, my sister emailed the person immediately and was told that it would take two weeks to replace it. There was no offer of providing a substitute or any other options, so now we were down a bed, and my nephew had to sleep on the floor. We discovered the following day that the Internet and the cable did not seem to be working, I emailed the owners again about the bed, and my disappointment with not getting a replacement when the unit advertised as sleeping eight and now we were completely down a bed, I also added the complaint about the Internet and the cable at this time. I never received a response back until the day we left... five days later. It turned out the Internet and the cable did work, the problem is that half of the outlets in the unit don't work, so it was an issue with the power not working and not the Internet. We were highly disappointed at the lack of response and follow through from the owners of this unit, we emailed about the bed immediately and the cable and Internet the following day, and did not receive a response for a week . The unit is old and outdated, there were wrappers from the previous guests on the floor and the cables and wires for the electronics were clumped together in a knot in a basket under the tv. The air conditioner is loud and often times left puddles in front of the door where it was located.

I especially loved the garden and patio area - it's a perfect spot to relax with coffee or snacks. While breakfast is no longer served, there is a comfortable indoor dining area available for guests to use. There's also a small room in the main building stocked with coffee and cream pods, ice, snacks, and even sunscreen, which was a thoughtful touch. We stayed in a ground floor room toward the back of the property, which felt very private and cozy. The room was lovely and included a Keurig with coffee pods, which I appreciated. The only minor downside was noise from upstairs, we could hear footsteps/furniture or suitcases being moved fairly clearly. It didn't bother us much, but light sleepers may want to keep that in mind.

Although our wedding itself was held offsite, the inn became the heart of our entire celebration - a place where our families could connect, relax, and spend meaningful time together. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the beautiful interior design.. it is curated, warm, and full of character. The bedrooms were spacious, clean, and incredibly well stocked with everything guests could need. The robes and snacks in each room were so thoughtful. The grounds are just as special. The gardens are lush and peaceful, and the outdoor furniture is so stylish. One of our favorite touches was the "Aloha Room," which was so thoughtfully equipped with water, snacks, hot water, a microwave, and even sunscreen..details like this really set the inn apart. We were also fortunate to host a small dinner onsite, and the ambiance was truly stunning - intimate, elegant, and quintessentially Maui. Every single guest staying at the inn commented on how much they loved their room, which speaks volumes. Breakfast each morning was lovely, and Lupe, the housekeeper, was incredibly attentive and kind throughout our stay. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the level of service. Ramu went above and beyond in every way - accommodating our special requests, always being available, and communicating with us seamlessly throughout the entire process. The level of care and responsiveness was exceptional. Parking was easy and ample. This is truly a hidden gem on Maui. If you're looking for a place to gather with loved ones in a setting that is both beautiful and deeply welcoming, you simply cannot do better. 10/10, we would recommend it without hesitation.

The home we stayed in was beautifully decorated local style but with many modern touches. The kitchen was well stocked with everything including: Keurig coffee maker, Expresso maker, pots & pans, rice cooker, and stemware for every beverage imaginable! The beds were so comfortable and had the most luscious sheets to slip into after a shower in the modern bathroom. One thing I truly appreciated was that everything (and I mean everything LOL) was labeled making it so easy to put things away after using them. The views from the Livingroom and lanai were breathtaking. We spent every morning sipping coffee on the lanai and watching for whales and ended each day with a beverage on the Lanai watching the sunset. There is plenty to do on the property from swimming, having a BBQ, reading in the quiet lobby, and even fishing right on the shore in front of the house! Denise is the most genuine hostess. From the first contact until the day we left, she was very responsive and provided so much valuable information. I loved all the information she shared about local transportation, businesses, restaurants, customs, and places to visit. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, Luana Moana is the place to go! Funny tidbit- we are late night people and never go to be before midnight but, we were so relaxed and slept so good not one night out of 10 were we able to stay awake past 9:30 pm! You can contact them at: https://www.LuanaMona.com.

The host is very informative and all furnishings are clean and new with a tastefully Hawaiian decor. Watching the turtles surface; the whales breaching and the birds singing... Can't wait to return...
