The units are privately owned, and do vary. Some are run down, and some are beautiful. So, we booked #6-204 for three weeks this past February through the Castle management website, where you can pick your actual unit from photos. Rental rates do vary widely, depending on the unit and season. We paid about $340 a night, inc. all the fees and the 10% Hawaii hotel tax (high season). The standard cleaning fee did include a thorough maid visit once mid-way through our stay. With a full-size washer and dryer in the apartment, vacuum cleaner, etc., it was easy to keep the place tidy as we would at home. The AC, in both the bedroom and living room, worked fine, but we did not use it since the place has a floor-through design with screened windows on both ends, ceiling fans in every room, and Kihea is generally pretty breezy. We had a king-sized bed with plenty of extra pillows, two full baths with lots of towels, cable HDTV's in the bedroom and the living room, room safe, a spacious, partial-ocean view lanai with a table and four chairs, plus beach chairs, beach umbrella, foam cooler with ice packs, and beach towels, all of which we left in the car as we traveled around the island. The kitchen was adequate, with a full-sized fridge with icemaker, dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, bar blender, rice cooker, etc. The tableware and flatware is basic, so you should bring your own personal kitchen knives if you plan to do any serious food prep. The gardens are beautiful, and the grounds immaculate. We had a big mango tree right outside our door. The heated swimming pool was never crowded, nor were the two jacuzzi spas. There's a well-equipped, air-conditioned workout room, snack bar, vending machines, and full-time concierge. Our assigned parking space was just a few steps from the building. The other guests were considerate during quiet time (10PM-8AM). We slept with our bedroom windows open every night and were never disturbed. We have stayed in a number of different condos on Maui over the years, but we return to the Kamole Sands.

We stayed at this condo building 8 unit 204. The unit had decent enough living room furniture, patio furniture. It's a one bedroom unit with 2 bathrooms it's suppose to sleep 4 people not sure where though. There is no sleeper sofa in the living room. The bed was too soft for me. The bathroom counters and kitchen were redone in granite, but it seriously needs more remodeling. It was nice to have a washer and dryer even though it was too dated. The AC unit was old really loud and rattled but it worked. We were delighted because of the high humidity. The overhead fan itself was insufficient to keep us cool at night. The dishes, cooking utensils, glasses were of cheap quality, well I guess because it's a rental. There was a keurig coffee maker, but the filter had some small holes in it so I put some tissue in the bottom before adding the coffee grinds. The location on the other hand was convenient for us across from the beach easily accessible to the rest of the island. The grounds are very nicely kept up.

It didn't give the option of no stars. I was mortified with us place . We stayed one night only because we got in late and was too late to go anywhere else . We didn't unpack or even change clothes . The dirt , mold in shower , trash under the foldout which they considered out 2nd queen bed . The mattress was thin and worn , dirty and full of hair . The sheet was too small and didn't cover . Drapes had stains that resembled a murder scene . Bugs crawling in the coffee maker . Our parking space had an old broken down flat tire car sitting in it . Had to park elsewhere and walk . It was out worst nightmare . You must cross a busy street and large park filled with homeless , drunk, drug addicts hanging around . The beach was only rock . We immediately left the following morning and had to fight with Costco travel but eventually got a refund . We drove to the other side of the island and were lucky to find a beautiful place . Don't stay at this nightmare of a place and don't stay in Keihi . It's dangerous and a slum .

For a one bedroom room, this was fantastic. We chose this place for the added amenities of the pool/hot tub, but it wasn't specified on the website that only 4 people are able to be in the hot tub at a time over the two hot tubs. Out of the 110 units that can have at least 4 people comfortably, there can be up to 440 guests. If you're looking for a place to unwind at the end of the day, this isn't the place for you as your aren't guaranteed a spot to unwind. I would like to add, that each party of 2 is able to stay in the hot tub for up to 2 hours. Shower had hair and smears up top, so it wasn't cleaned from the people before. Baseboards had mold.

This place was absolutely perfect for our needs. Me and one of my best friend's stayed here for a week and felt right at home. We had a huge one bedroom, two bath condo overlooking the pool and a partial ocean and mountain view. The condo was fully loaded with furnishings, great island decor and appliances like home including a washer and dryer. There were many added perks as well out on the lanai (patio) such as boogie boards, beach chairs, beach umbrellas and coolers for our convenience while vacationing. We encountered friendly staff throughout the whole facility and had no issues during our stay. The location is absolutely perfectly placed within minutes of the greatest snorkeling spot on the island, Ahihi Bay. Not to mention the multitude of diverse beaches along the way to the bay. Kamaole Sands is a perfect vacation spot and I will definitely revisit and book here again. Yvette Leilani Brownstone Ventura, CA

In comparison to some other brands such as Aman, Four Seasons Maui felt below average given its price point. The resort itself felt small and a bit old. The service felt very below average and inconsistent. One employee would tell you the sun umbrellas at the pools near the bushes are not adjustable while literally 2 mins later another employee came and adjusted the sun umbrella next to me and also mine when I asked. When we went to the adult pool we were told by one employee that we needed to be on a waitlist. After 3 hours when we finally got notified that it was our turn and went back we noticed other guests just literally went and grabbed empty benches and staffs were just setting the benches up for them(no, they didn't even know there was a waitlist)... Our canoe experience at the last day of our stay got canceled due to high wind and the concierge never notified us etc. Many employees gave me the vibe that they don't really care. They just gave me fake smiles and robotic responses. Maybe Amond would take better care of us...if he is still alive... The view was very amazing. We even spotted whales many times.

Roomy, spacious, on the top floor. Full ocean view, amazing sunsets. The works. This is the best Maui can offer. Spectacular. And I could go on and on with superlatives until I run out. Service was exceptional. Well, people in Hawaii suffer from what they call "Aloha Spirit", which probably means they are always happy and smiling. Surprisingly, it's easy to adapt to this spirit. But at Fairmont Kea Lani, they took it up a notch. All staff, from the breakfast maître d' to the last of the chamber maids, from the reception attendants to the concierge desk - all were courteous, helpful, listening. I am going to stop now before someone tells me that I'm overflowing with praise. Bottom line, this week was the best hotel week we ever experienced. And we have plenty of great hotel experiences to compare to. Fairmont Kea Lani is by far the best.

For context,…read morehusband and I walked into and toured all the resorts along the wailea beach path and agree that Fairmont was #1 based on our preferences (yes, even compared to Four Seasons based on overview of pool amenities haha). Although the only other resorts I actually stayed at were Andaz and Wailea Beach Resort Marriott. Reason being that rooms are exceptional (all suites) and I highly recommend upgrading to ocean view if possible. They have prime real estate directly facing the sunset, making each night so memorable. For amenities, pools are more spread out and does not feel as claustrophobic compared to Four Seasons in my opinion. I'd choose Fairmont again for our next trip. Special shout out to the housekeeper going above and beyond who shapes our lei into a heart each time they tidy our place. This person deserves a raise/promotion. Barry the manager at the hotel breakfast buffet also feels like family; just so warm and friendly. Also deserves a raise or promotion.

My lady and I came here 25 years ago to celebrate our beginnings and returned to appreciate our quarter century with the 'Aloha Spirit'. In preparations for our festivities Sheree in Guest Services graciously cared for us - she is an extraordinary gift to visitors. Every moment on property continued the appreciation, Angel and Nilma's thoughtful care at the front desk, to the wait staff's attentiveness - Toby, Brant, Olivia, P.T.... at the Lehua Lounge and poolside and especially Braden at Morimoto. In addition to the magical ambience, you are treated like royalty. Complimentary snacks in the room are replenished daily, citrus infused water refills everywhere, Hawaii ice cream treats offered poolside, sunscreen dispensers at every pool. When you are looking for a chaise, they immediate put a chair cover on for you and bring multiple towels.... The culture of care (Hoʻokipa) begins with the Hawaiian culture and the exceptionally personable GM Richard Elliot along with Kodi a beverage manager with his "Andaz style" (personal service). Beautiful memories were created from dawn's light peeking into the grand Lawai'a Lounge to, chaises by the four descending pools, to complementary beach adventures - snorkeling, kayaking... to sunsets from our beloved poolside upper terrace table. Every dish was a delight, many 'the best we could remember'. Mahalo for creating a beautiful commemoration, may you ever feel the appreciation of your guests and colleagues.

Three washers and three dryers available. There is a 1.5 mile ocean view path that connects the resorts, Shops at Wailea, and public beaches. Lots of people walking and running it. Lots of kids. There is an adults only pool in front of the spa, but it's not consistently heated and no ocean views. Free mineral sunblock at every towel station (SPF 30 and 50). We came after a big storm, and none of the water activities were available due to County brown water advisory. The rest of the resort fee activities were a nice add-on (e.g. smores at sunset, ukulele lessons, bingo, photography session). Cocktails were not great. Stick to the beer and wine. Breakfast buffet was good enough, but inconsistent and nothing exciting. Veggie fried rice was really good the first day, but lacked flavor the next day. Longans were a nice touch, but wasn't available every day (and no other specialty fruit replacement out of the ordinary selection). Ohana room (transition lounge) is available if you have a later flight and want to stay on property after checkout time of 11AM. Clean and has all the amenities needed to freshen up before a late flight. Includes a bathing suit spinner to dry it out for packing. All in all, they have everything you need for a Maui vacay.
