Man the service, quality, cleanliness and everything has REALLY fallen off and the prices have gone way up! $9 for 1 scoop of guacamole. $4.50 for raspberry tea, +$4.50 for every refill. The restroom looked like a truck stop restroom. The place is filthy and dingy now. Not with the money and a generally unpleasant place to eat now. read more

this used to be one of our favorite spots to eat for a nice dinner. we came here for our 5 year anniversary & the menu was totally different. drinks & service were good, but the food was not near as good. didn't even look as appealing. we still had a good time but i cant say we weren't disappointed. previously the food used to "WOW" us & now it is just basic. idk if we will return. read more

The service was amazing the waiter was awesome BUT the food was not good at all. Over 100 dollars for stuff I boxed then threw in the trash at home. The chips were greasy, the queso for some reason is 9 dollars but tastes like a very very slightly better velveeta (it even has that same thickness) the salsa was decent but a little too smoke heavy, the entrées were over priced and super bland and the "street tacos" were super americanized and for basic white people (im white so thats saying something). I took 1 bite of my taco and didnt take another. the only thing I liked from my entree were the beans. The alcohol is way too expensive for the size you get and its definitely watered down, the house margarita tasted like juice didnt taste a single ounce of tequila they were also 12 dollars a piece which I wasnt aware of till I got the bill, not the waiters fault I shouldve asked for a drink menu but I assumed it was more like 8 dollars per when I saw the size of the drinks. To make a long story short, go to a different place youll pay a heck of a lot less and will have better food, bigger drinks and actually get a buzz. P.S to the owner if you read this, PINEAPPLE IS A BULLY IN THE KITCHEN wayyyy too much pineapple in the sauce if thats what was giving the tacos that disgustingly sweet taste with 0 heat from the habanero. Maybe its because I went to culinary school for 2 years and I make my own salsa and make my own hot sauce but come on a little pineapple goes a long way, Id think a chef would know that. read more

The service was very slow. The food was mediocre to non edible. The setting is very pleasant. The queso, (which we had to pay for) tasted like velveeta. The salsa was mediocre. The entrees were edible, barely; they had almost no spices. I love Mexican food...nothing we ate had any Mexican flavor. Don't waste your money. I don't mind paying for good food; I do mind paying top dollar for slop. read more

Had an amazing dining experience. We always get the fish tacos 10/10. Also Lannie was our server and took excellent care of us. We sat on the patio and she brought our dog water without us even having to ask. She anticipated our needs before we asked. This place is a must try! read more

From my perspective, Uncle Julio's deserves just 1 star, but my boyfriend's food was pretty good, so I gave them 2. Let's start with the salsa. I liked the fire roasted aspect of it, but too damn salty. I ordered the chicken tortilla bowl and the chicken tasted like they just damped it from a can and just mixed up some black beans, corn etc. very unimaginative and not much flavor. It sure could've been WAY BETTER. And I'm not sure the reason, but both the hostess that seated us and our waitress were a soft talker. We didn't know what the heck they were saying. And we're older but not hard of hearing. I could hear a different waitress at the next table fine. We thought we were going crazy! Won't be back, for their prices, definitely not worth it. Skip it. read more

I really enjoyed this for my birthday. My wife wanted to take me somewhere I had never been and we ended up here at Uncle Julio's. My combo (beef & chicken) fajitas were good. I really enjoyed the rice. The salsa has a smokey flavor, which I liked. The queso was good, and actually had more spice than the salsa. My FAVORITE was the chocolate piñata!!! It was AWESOME. I love chocolate and this was spot on. read more

Nice clean place. Lovely aesthetics. Outside dining with pretty views. Huge dining room for large parties. Nice bar area. Guacamole is good. I just got the side.. I didn't have the table side. Apparently that is the best. Queso was a miss. Really thick mild cheddar. It isn't greasy cheddar. Like gas station can cheese. It is like plastic cheddar and not Velveeta. I put a bunch of spicy salsa in it... that helped. Just isn't interesting or impressive. Crunchy ground beef tacos were fine. Meat was well seasoned. Juicy. Great texture. Not too much cheese... that wins points with me. Beans and rice are really just so heavily seasoned with smoked paprika. It just kind of brings the meal to a halt. Quesadillas are quesadillas. No matter where we go Latino to eat my friend orders the same thing. Chicken fajita quesadillas. Extra peppers. Extra pico. No Guac. No sour cream. The service was exceedingly great. Haley. Best part of the meal. Chips were thin and nice. Crispy. Not over salted. I heard later I was supposed to try the El Jefe.... margarita. I may do that. Sit in the patio one day and drink one and eat some chips and table side Guac. The aesthetics and the level of service would encourage me to go back. But not necessarily the food. read more

LOVE uncle Julio's in Dallas. The oak lawn location & the location near DFW is my fav two locations. However, I think that the dining room here is more beautiful. It kinda looks like a Pirate ship! lol The menu is basically the same, nachos & margaritas I had were pretty much the same as the Dallas locations I been to. The service was also decent at this location. What I didn't like about this location is it's way out in BFE & they DO NOT HAVE A "happy hour" at this location! I went for happy hour & I was told they took away the happy hour :( that's the happiest part! So for me to drive completely out of my way for chain style Tex-mex & they have taken away my happy hour doesn't make me happy. Won't return until the happy hour returns! Cheers! read more

Update 4.9.21... overpriced and poor service, but that fajita meat is tasty. We had two entree, queseo , and guacamole for $100. Uncle Julio's is not fabulous if you are an authentic Mexican food lover. This is pretty good Tex Mex. The decor is great. The location is fabulous. The service for large parties was exceptional. We had a party of 30 and the team gave us a choice between s private room or tables aligned in rows of 10 by each other. We opted for the tables because it was immediate seating. We brought in a fabulous cake and Uncle Julio's allowed us to store it in their fridge. Major bonus. Uncle Julio's dessert chocolate piñata is the novelty for all celebrations. It is stuffed with all kinds of goodies including strawberries and chocolate filled doughnuts. Any celebration that needs something extra deserves to give Incle Julio's read more

We went last night for dinner to Uncle Julio. This was my second visit, first visit we sat at the bar and only had drinks. It was a great idea to make reservations since the place is usually busy. First, our waiter didn't take good care of us, he would disappear for more than 15 min and wouldn't follow up. The food took forever. We ordered a grapefruit margarita, a beer, enchiladas and a chicken tortilla bowl. My margarita was really good! The food was OK...nothing memorable. The place looks very trendy, which I like, but the food and service is mediocre...if you are going to pay a little more than most Mexican places you would expect a memorable experience. The worst thing was there was NO social distancing at all. read more

Finally got a chance to try out Uncle Julios. We went at lunch and were seated immediately. Our waiter was awesome. The meal came with complimentary chips, flour tortillas, and salsa. The salsa had a nice Smokey flavor to it. We ordered the white queso as an appetizer. It was good, but nothing special. I ordered the Watermelon Margarita and hubby had Makers Mark and Coke. If fruity drinks are your thing go for the Margarita. We split an order of beef fajitas which came with charro beans and rice. We really enjoyed the flavor of the steak and beans. Also the guacamole was delicious. Our experience overall was good we'll be returning in future. read more

Mariah D knocked was the bomb server! I arrived for a coworker get together and was blessed to have her as our table server. She allowed us to chat and kept the chill pace for our meal. No drinks were empty and she had my Miller Lite on refill! The white cheese dip that a coworker ordered was super delicious. The chips were warm and the salsa was tasty. I ordered the soft taco plate with fajita grilled chicken ...However the first order arrived with steak. No big deal and it was fixed pretty quickly. The tacos were super large and the rice and beans were also tasty. I did have leftovers as I filled up on chips and salsa. The service was much appreciated so thank you for being awesome Mariah D and Uncle Julios! I will return if in the area! Respectfully, Bryan Moore, Oklahoma read more

2 years after our last terrible visit, we tried again. Service was a little faster now but I had to send my cheese and onion enchiladas back (I can't remember the last time I sent food back, it's so embarrassing). I had to use a knife to attempt to cut the enchiladas. They were super hard. Second time was better but not delicious by any means. We won't try again for sure. The one in Dallas is sooo much better. read more

Great food and staff! Just too expensive to be as messy as it was. Bathrooms were trashed and the floors were covered in food.

Visiting OKC I was told to check this place out. We were sat quickly. Took a good 10 min for the waiter to come bring us some water and take our drink order. I asked to not cook my fajitas with bell pepper due to food allergy. Came out with everything mixed. The waiter quickly took it away and just as quickly brought my food back with it scooped off the original plate onto a side dish. Tortillas were cold. Rice had no flavor and was also cold. The one thing that was piping hot were the black beans and my sons quesadilla. The one thing that was on point were the grapefruit, strawberry, and sangria swirl margaritas. Those get a 5 star, the food and service get a 3. I find it odd for what is labeled upscale made from scratch place, you would think you are getting water in a glass and not a plastic cup. Won't come back or likely visit one anywhere else I see one. read more

This was the perfect place to go on a rare snowy day in Oklahoma. From the moment you walk in you can tell this ain't no ordinary Mexican restaurant, the atmosphere makes you feel like your in Mexico. The staff was amazing and very attentive, they definitely make it a great place to be. Oh and the portions of food are huge at least to me haha. Best queso and salsa hands down in OKC. The salsa definitely is a cut above with the smokiness to it. Seeing the open kitchen and seeing them make the salsa is what also separates this place from the rest of the others. read more

We stumbled upon this place during one of our trips in Texas. We were ecstatic to find out they were coming home to Oklahoma! We decided to go up for my nieces fiancés birthday. Even though it's new we were able to get right in by sitting outside. This worked out wonderfully because there was a nice breeze and we were right by the beautiful water scenery! My husband got fajitas and loved them, I got enchiladas and the only thing I would do differently is get sour cream sauce instead of the chili on top. My niece and her fiancé got the honey bacon fajitas and could not stop talking about them. They mentioned that they were the best fajitas they ever had. I also want to mention that Chisholm creek area is building several new things and when it is all done it will be a very cool hot spot! We cannot wait to go back! Oh and a tip, the chocolate piñata is so cool! Everything inside was great but the chocolate balls were mouth watering! read more

Do not call them to place an order, they will transfer you to the to go line then, the phone will ring for 10 min. I just am not a fan. This is my third time to come and the third time my stomach hurt afterwards. I love their patio. It is awesome. The food, especially for the price, lacks so much...flavor, portion, quality, etc. I have no idea why the price is what it is. With tax my meal alone was around $26. I left hungry. Something is wrong with that. I had to remove many things from my entree due to allergies/sensitivities, and the price stayed the same even though I had to remove half of what came with it. Which I understand, but can we at least sub out so I still get a complete meal? What was nice was the manager took the time break down what I could eat from the menu, but then I now question if it really was since my stomach hurt afterwards. My waiter was no help and told me some things did not have dairy and soy, but when I went to double check with the manager, I found out they did. The floor was so sticky. That is just gross and we came first thing when they opened so it is not as if another customer spilled something. It was just not mopped. I really tried to like this place, mainly for their outdoor patio (it is amazing), but I just can't do it anymore. If you have a stomach of iron, you will probably be fine eating here. read more

Always good food. Expensive, but overall not too bad. This location is a bit more posh than locations in Dallas.

Go here quite a bit Higher end Mexican restaurant Higher end on the price scale. The food is consistently good. Never had a bad plate Nice happy people looking after you too Clean upscale place Watch the mixed drinks they are a bit pricey But overall always a good experience read more

After living in Texas and never trying it there, I've been curious to try Uncle Julio's ever since it came to Oklahoma City. Well, I finally got around to trying it and I really enjoyed it! First of all, it's located in the Chisolm Creek area which has just been a really fun addition to OKC. Uncle Julio's also has a nice patio area and the inside has a nice, laid back vibe. We went on a Friday and it was hoppin' (the wait time was an hour and a half) but we were lucky enough to score a couple of seats at the bar. Our service was great, the drinks were tasty and our food was delicious. I got their chicken fajitas and the chicken was cooked just perfectly. I will be adding Uncle Julio's to my list whenever I'm craving some good Mexican food in OKC! read more

Great place and great service! The decor is really nice. The food was great And our server grant was awesome. Thanks Julio

This is a hard review. We frequent Uncle Julio's and this was the worse experience by far. The waitress was rude and completely checked out. My other half asked for another wine glass and her response was "it's just water spots". We let that ride and received broken tortilla chips and our order was completely wrong. The manager offered the food to at no cost but we decided to pass on the offer and left. read more

Uncle Julio's may be my new fav croute place to get fajitas in Oklahoma City. The restaurant is located in the newer shopping and dining district, Chisholm Creek. I love this district and all of the new things coming to Oklahoma City in this area. I recently went back to Uncle Julio's and was all around impressed. Our waiter was fun and knowledgeable of the selections. I loved sitting in the middle area a where you can see them preparing the food and all of the fresh ingredients. The outdoor patio is stunning with the water feature that will be perfect for hose spring and summer days. This place is always busy! You can make a reservation, which I highly recommend or the bar is open seating that has tv's and table tops. I got the chicken and steak fajitas and let me just say they were wonderful. Packed with flavor that will leave you wanting more. I paired them with their homemade corn and flour tortillas! Yum O! To end the meal of course we had to get the chocolate piñata. Wow! Was this dessert good. First off it was so fun to do and second it was delicious. The homemade whipped cream was out of this world and I loved the mini churros. Can't wait to go back to Uncle Julio's! read more

We really enjoyed this place. The chips and salsa were good. It wasn't a traditional cold salsa it was warm and spicy. I had the lunch steak tacos and soup they were both good, small steak portion but the steak was very tender. I had read other reviews about it being tuff I didn't find that to be the case. The chicken tortilla soup was excellent as well. My wife had the shrimp tacos which had good flavoring quality shrimp and mangos. Really loved the flavors. They also have a daily margarita special it was cucumber the day we went very tasty quality liquor not premade. Very picky about my margaritas not being to sour these were just perfect ! My wife had the perfect margarita and loved it as well. read more

First time eating here. We sat at the bar. The bartender was great. The chips fell apart every time I tried to scoop the salsa. The salsa was basically water. The tacos were dry. To pay $90 including 20% (which I always do) want worth the food quality. I had 2 vodkas and he had a glass of wine. Alcohol itself if insane now for a drink. But, the overall quality of food sucked. read more

Great food. A little pricey, but the food was fresh and tasted great. The chocolate piñata is a fun dessert if you're with kids.

We went to Uncle Julio's for a girls night to celebrate a birthday and had a nice time! Although we made a reservation weeks in advance, unfortunately, once we arrived, we were told they didn't have a reservation under our name and the wait would be 1.5 hours... thankfully another large table was finishing up, so they were able to squeeze us in after waiting about 25min and we were VERY grateful! :) It was a Friday evening so the restaurant was packed! Our waitress with very friendly and everyone enjoyed their meals. A couple girls had margaritas and said they were great but a couple others ordered Palomas and after one sip each, actually ended up sending them back and changing for margaritas. Overall, good food but a bit on the pricy side. read more

Very nice place and of course the chocolate piñata dessert was great. It was missing the other dipping sauces like caramel and something else but it was very good. Also could've had more fruit pieces. The special was carnitas and that was very yummy. It had a sweet sauce and came with all the fixings like fajitas. Their shrimp fajitas were very tasty too. I will say I wish the server was a bit more friendly, I know we had a party of 10 but I felt we were always looking for her. Also she wouldn't even sing happy birthday with us like I thought staff normally does I was disappointed. read more

UPDATED REVIEW: Aug. 20, 2019 A whole year later and I decided to give this spot another try. I was more disappointed the 2nd time around. The service was horrible, the food was horrible. I definitely won't make it a 3rd time even if they decided to comp my food. I don't know if they just weren't in the mood for good service and food this go round or if the restaurant just sucks. From dirty dishes, a waitress with a bad attitude, to awful food. I'm just over Uncle Julio's. The tab and food are definitely not worth cost of admission. A hard miss for me! I was kind of on the fence about this spot. But decided to give it a try because I had never been. So I'm going to some this up pretty quickly. The wait: we walked in on a Sat night without reservations. The wait was 35-45mins and open seating in the bar area. We got lucky and someone changed their mind and gave us their table. The decor: y'all know decor is my jam. So it was a win. The service: Edgar was super friendly and super prompt despite their busyness. The food: Black beans were a flop, the rice was good, and the bacon wrapped shrimp with this Mexican butter they serve was phenomenal. But my steak fajitas were soooo tough. I order them medium well and could not chew them. They stayed on my plate. Overall, the cost of admission was not worth it to me. $80 for two. I may or may not come again read more

We go here sometimes for special occasions. We love their chocolate ball with the fruits and the churros and donuts inside! It is a must get!!! It is on the more pricey side but their food is great quality. You get what you pay for. They don't have complimentary queso like most Mexican restaurants around but they do have a good one and variety of other dips like guacamole on their menu. My fave is their seafood fajitas!! My husband likes the enchiladas!! The area is really nice and more modern in this area with fun things to do after you eat! Oh and MAKE RESERVATIONS!!! read more

We generally love Julio's but tonight the hostess just twisted us the wrong way. We wanted to sit out on the patio by the water. The hostess told us there were tables available because all the big ones were for large parties. Now it was 7 pm. There was no crowd. She offered us a seat next to a wall or next to a window right next to the hostess station. That was about the last straw. We decided we could find something better somewhere else. We ended up a Sonic. Fast service, no attitude, and friendly staff. We don't go out often at all. But we do like Uncle Julio's on the patio when it's nice to sit out. We'd probably have spent at least $50-60 on dinner and drinks. Too bad the hostess was rude and did not give a shit about allowing paying customers just walk out of the restaurant. It will likely be a very very long time before we ever come back to Julio's. That's IF we ever come back. read more

Uncle Julio's should be noted that the restaurant, which is a franchise, full name is Uncle Julio's Mexican from Scratch, which tells you everything you need to know the kind of food they create here. This location is located in the burgeoning new Chisholm Creek retail center that has a lot of up and coming restaurants, and iFLY indoor skydiving location and the first Costco location in the state so you know Uncle Julio has established itself as a main player in the local dining scene. We came on a Monday afternoon, didn't have reservations, asked to see how hot it was in the July heat on their patio and decided that sitting indoors in a booth by their fresh tortilla making station was the only place to go. That indoor tortilla making station epitomizes what Uncle Julio's is all about fresh ingredients making for hopefully what are delicious dishes. And there seems to be a lot on their dinner menu of a wide variety of traditional Tex-Mex dishes from fajitas, to tamales, to quesadillas, you have a craving for it, it will be here. Upon sitting down our server Cameron presented our table of four with a bowl of freshly cooked tortillas chips and four individual ramekins of rojo salsa with a mild kick to it. Now in places like Oklahoma, apparently cheese Queso is served with every chip and dip dish, at Uncle Julio's they do charge for it, so we did decide to order a small order, which I could see why as it was a rather large bowl of spicy blend of white cheeses with red chili sauce which gave the cheese a yellow hue. Flavorful and warm, I could see why they charge for it, but for almost eight dollars, my eyebrows were raised at the price point. For my dinner, I decided that I had to try the enchiladas, as I tend to lean towards dishes that I cannot make it home, and I liked that they had the option of a Combination Enchilada with options for either two or three enchiladas from their Beef, Chicken and Cheese and Onion Enchiladas. For thirteen dollars, I order their Beef Enchilada filled with ground beef topped with Agave Queso Sauce, and the Chicken Enchilada filled with pulled chicken topped with creamy hatch chili sauce along with a side of Mexican Rice and Frijoles a la Charra. I liked the dish, I'll admit I didn't love it, it got a little dry so I had to cover a lot of it with my rojo salsa that came with our complimentary chips. Overall it did taste solid, but had me wanting more upon reflection of the overall dish. The ambiance to the service at Uncle Julio's was all top-notch. The food left me wanting more, but enough to at least warrant a return visit to this great little plaza that they have recently opened up around this location of Uncle Julio's complete with it's own man-made lake, bridge and fountain show. Uncle Julio's is here to stay in the Oklahoma area and I plan on making a return visit to see if it will become a permanent stop on my list of must visit Tex-Mex establishments. read more
