Grabbed a quick working lunch which I thought was going to be a poor choice since my previous visit was overly loud. Not the case this time. The cheese queso & chips was our starter, the queso was good but I think over priced for a small bowl. I've thought the Chicken Tortilla Bowl was just medicore. I think it had all the makings of a delicious dish but fell short of my expectations. read more

The food was pretty good, but it took a bit to get it. Maybe it was just because it started getting busy when we arrived. Salsa was good; chips were meh. I didn't eat the queso, but my kids seemed to like it. I ordered pulled chicken soft tacos that were probably an 8/10. read more

This place is special enough for a dinner date and festive enough for family dinner! Wonderful! However , I ordered the chicken soft tacos, which had a fishy taste and a bone! I couldn't eat it after that. But on the other hand, the awesome gentleman who was waiting on us, really took care of us! He brought out another fresh batch of warm tortilla chips & made sure to remove that dish off of the bill. Such service! I will be back again though! I would like to try something else on the menu! read more

Went there for the 1st time..was my sons 30th b day..Great food great service.Look forward to going back

I used to love this place but it is no longer worth it. Our sever was great but the food quality has drastically dropped, my chicken was undercooked and lacked any flavor as well as my cocktail tasted very watered down, most likely will not be back. read more

This restaurant is no longer good since they were acquired. They changed the menu and the food quality was significantly lower than before. We won't be back again. read more

This was our favorite place and visited 2-3 times a month. Our last time was so disappointing! They changed the queso and a lot of the menu. The new queso is terrible and my enchiladas were not good. Please bring back the old recipes!! read more

1) the floor was so sticky everywhere inside that our shoes still stuck to the sidewalk when we left. 2) both of us ordered fajitas but different kinds. They both tasted strong of soy sauce. 3) we went to this restaurant for the first time because of a deal we got in the mail - $20 off of $50 or more. So two ice tea, one small queso, and two single serving fajitas. That's it. No extras and declined rice & beans. With the $20 off our bill was $56. Three strikes (cleanliness, taste and price) they're out! read more

Refried beans are amazing greatly recommend the chicken quesadillas with the refried beans are straight gas

Sorry, but still a three in my book. I visited here soon after they first opened and actually dined here twice the same week in 2018. Revisited because I was in the area and famished. I sat in the bar area and service was good and the grapefruit margarita was as wonderful as I remember. I tried the carnitas tacos again. Not so great. Mine were a bit fatty. I will probably not try a fourth time with other dining options in the area. read more

Food 2.5/5 Service: 4/5 Patio Ambiance: 3/5 I've eaten here a few times through the years and it's just ok. The price isn't worth it for the quality of food I've eaten and the patio needs a good scrubbing. Our server was amazing and made this lunch good with his mannerisms. If you haven't been, you should go just to see what the hype is about but it's not a staple for me. My friends nachos were ok. Not the flavor she was expecting and my birria was super dry. The margaritas were good but for the price, nothing special. The ducks are also super aggressive on the patio so just an FYI. read more

Awesome patio atmosphere and great service. Part of the Chisholm creek entertainment district

Not the best food or service. We had 2 waiter, one needs more training, he was aloft and dismissive, basically tossed the bill at the table while we were in the middle our meal. The bowl I had had to be redone because the onions in the bowl were solid slices the size of my palm. Not impressed, except Angelo our primary waiter was outstanding with service. No offer of dessert. The best description of our experience is consistently inconsistent. read more

Food was below average for what they charge. They don't do anything for birthdays. Service wasn't the best. Eat somewhere else folks.

Went in for a Black Friday margarita and some good food. They changed their menu, and the consistency of the queso is like grits. It used to be soooo good! Alicia, our server, made the visit awkward too. She mentioned her tips were short, but she also forgot several things from what we ordered which frustrated us more. We never received our entrees and upon receiving our receipt, we learned they were never put in. As we were enjoying our appetizers , we thought it was kinda weird for her to ask if we wanted churros or dessert. We paid for our app and drinks, but left to finish lunch at Torchy Tacos. Don't recommend Alicia or the new queso with the menu change. We will still be back, the drinks and entrees are still really good! read more

High-quality, made-from-scratch Tex-Mex paired with wonderful ambiance and superb attention to detail. After a few visits, I'm ready to discuss this excellent option at NW OKC! While surrounded by fantastic alternatives, Uncle Julio is a destination you should consider! My favorite journey so far is starting with the White Queso and Chips (their chips are light and crispy!). Then I love their carne asada (they use skirt steak and grill it fairly well), asking for some homemade tortillas and pico to turn it into the most amazing tacos! The downside is their desserts. Their Chocolate piñata is excellent and quite entertaining when/if available. From there, it goes downhill. Their churros are rather underwhelming, and there is little to say about their sundae. Their service is average. Some of their staff members are attentive, and some leave much to be desired. Regardless, this location is worth stopping by to check it out! read more

Price for a good Mexican food dinner was a little shocking. Good food and staff. I believe it was over priced by at least $10 for two people to eat. read more

First time trying this place out. My server was Thomas. He was super friendly and extremely helpful. I chose to have a date with myself which I don't get very often. I ordered the Guadalajara Signature trio of fajitas. It came with 3 bacon wrapped shrimp, skirt steak and grilled mesquite chicken, a side of guacamole, sour cream, cheese, Mexican rice and carrots beans, corn or flour tortillas ( I had a mix of both). A side of chips and salsa was also brought out upon my arrival. The service was excellent. The food was good, nothing really spectacular or stand out. The flour tortillas were delicious while the corn was rather bland. I tried the mango passion lemonade and it was very good. I would definitely come back when I have a larger crowd. I want to try the chocolate lovers piñata. ThIs location has outdoor seating and is located in Chisholm Creek off of Memorial Rd in Okc. Also, they offer military discount too. Many beautiful little shops nearby and other eateries. read more

Ok so the drinks here are legit and get a star to begin with. So I've been to this chain just not in okc but let me say they kept the quality the same.. Now we came with a Grouo and the waiter messed up my bean side, but I'm really glad he did bc it was legit! I nabbed the soft tacos and the chicken and steak were just great! I have a friend that has told me I really needed to try this place and I was finally able to do so today. I ordered the Carnitas fajitas and man the pork was so tasty. It may be the best tasting pork I've ever had. If I only had the meat and nothing with it I would have called it a great meal. Really liked them as a fajita. Wife had the Barbacoa fajitas and thought they were a bit spicy. I like spice so they were fine for me. However, the pork carnitas stole the show. Portions were good too. It looked small on the platter but wasn't by any means. Service was poor though so took a star away. read more

I keep trying to give Uncle Julio's a chance but the last 2 times I've been there it hasn't been great service! Be careful when you leave a cash tip bc someone might add to your ticket without you knowing! read more

More than half of our food was not good. $250 bill didn't even get us decent food or anything to go. Will not be back. We came in as a party of 9 (incl. 2 kids). There to celebrate my mom's birthday on a Sunday afternoon. There was NO wait. Restaurant was maybe half full at 2:00. No one cared for the HEAVY Worcestershire flavored steak. So all the steak ingredient plates went to waste. (Why that particular seasoning in a TexMex restaurant anyway??) The quesadillas (on the appetizer menu) were dry and looked sad and pale. I had a salad which was okay except the bacon was burnt! It was a lot of bacon too. The jalapeño ranch was good. The service was good too but quirky. He kept the tortillas coming but they weren't even good! We got the chocolate piñata which has gone up to $35! It was lots of chocolate to go around but only enough fruit samplings and churros for maybe 3-4 people to get a taste. Overall, a huge let down. I remember liking this place back in the day. We traveled from out of town and I feel like we need a birthday dinner re-do because this was sad. read more

Margaritas were solid. The food was delicious and plentiful. Our server was so sweet and attentive. A minor complaint is my fish tacos. Either they over-seasoned it, or the fish was badly charred on the grill. It was so smoky. Also, I would've preferred more crema on the tacos. Still, we had a good dining experience, and things went smoothly for a Friday. And getting to sit out on their patio was lovely due to the surrounding view. read more

If you're craving some tasty tex-mex, Uncle Julio's is the spot! The staff was extremely patient and accomodate. They were able to put us in seating that was socially distanced and safe. Our waitress Lisa was phenominal! Now for the food: the salsa is a 10/10. Not every tex-mex place gets it right but UJ does! If you're not careful, you'll be full before your entree even comes! I ordered the "chicken bowl" minus the chicken for a vegetarian based option. They were able to substitute my chicken for satueed veggies which consisted of bell pepper, onion, avocado, zuchinni and mushrooms! It was so tasty and the flavors were amazing! And the Mexican style rice helped it all come together! This was a nice and hearty lunch. I certainly recommend the bowl and the pinata dessert! The churros are to die for! read more

I feel like I'm stating the obvious when I review a chain restaurant like this - no, the food isn't great. But to be fair, you're not at Uncle Julio's because you've just came back from a trip to Mexico and you want something authentic. You're here for inoffensive food that appeals to that one picky eater in the group who acts like "cumin" is a synonym for "chili pepper". Was I expecting On the Border-style food with even worse pricing? Yes. Did they deliver on that front? Unfortunately, yeah. I went in expecting to be disappointed and I came out extra disappointed with how bland everything was. The one highlight during lunch was the salsas, because they had more than one kind. Our server was also a pleasant surprise - he was super hospitable to our large group and did a great job wrangling orders quickly and getting our food out. Uncle Julio's is kinda like Chick-fil-A where you're like, "this food shouldn't cost this much...but darn it if they aren't friendly" But also, the food at CFA is good so this comparison is irrelevant. Moving onto other, more awful things... No amount of service goodwill will negate the gimmick that is the Chocolate Pinata. For $30ish you get to play whack-a-ball with a chocolate mold and $5 worth of Sysco fruit. Frankly, I'm impressed by UJ's marketing team and their ability to get people to trip over themselves to order this hodgepodge of a dessert. Overall...no thanks, not for me. Maybe if you've just finished shopping at Costco and need a quick bite in the Chisolm Creek area? Idk even then there are better options out here. The people are friendly at least! read more

No stars... not what I remembered it to be. Service sucked, no one checked on us, no water refilled or chips until the waiter had to check on our table. Food took way too long to come out. When the food came out it was terrible. The beans were cold, the shrimp platter I ordered was not what I ordered. The food looked like it was warmed up. Not a very good experience. Pervious times that I went everything was good but not this time. read more

When you're at Uncle Julio's, you have to get their fajitas. We always get their steak fajitas, and the meat is flavorful and tender. They have great margaritas, but they are strong so be careful. Also recommend trying their white queso and adding ground beef for a real treat. Everyone should have at least one of their homemade flour tortillas as well. Come hungry and look forward to still having leftovers when you leave. It can be a bit expensive, but this is a nice spot for an occasional "just because" treat. read more

Uncle Julio's - Steak fajitas for two - Tex-Mex Near Me - Oklahoma, Oklahoma

I usually look forward to eating at Uncle Julio's when visiting (we live overseas and miss American Tex Mex often). Granted we typically frequent the DFW locations but I wanted to try the location in my hometown OKC. The salsa was what their salsa consistently tastes like: smokey flavor and tasty. The chips are fresh, thin and crunchy. No complaints on those items. The yellow "chili con queso" was ABSOLUTELY a waste of money. I would have rather had Ted's queso instead. It was bad.. too salty, definitely tastes like "high school concession stand out of a tin can from SAM's"cheese with a pinch of diced tomatoes. ELEVEN DOLLARS for queso that tasted like salty glue-ish "cheese". Please do not waste your money like I did. I'm very disappointed and the quality of service I received from the bartender who took my drink and to go order made the experience even more sour. Took him 10 min to even acknowledge me but he happily refilled the only couple at the bar tops drink order. They were not busy at all. The wine was overpriced and I was shorted on the pour but it was good. There are other great TexMex restaurants in OKC. Avoid this place if you want authentic tasting Mexican inspired dishes. Overpriced and declining in quality. read more

This is my second time eating here. The location and vibes are great. The restaurant is dimly lit and nice and we found it clean. The waitress was nice. The food was okay not the best. They bring out chips and salsa (salsa was sweet and not hot) you have to order queso separately. I ordered the Tex Mex meal which is 2 enchiladas and a taco. The enchiladas didn't have much flavor, rice was subpar. The alcoholic drinks were very good. This restaurant is on the pricier side and I feel you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere. We did the Piñata dessert and it was very good and would recommend! Overall I would come here again if I was invited, not by choice. read more

Came here for the first time and was happy about most things except for the deserts. The margaritas were delicious, the queso blanco scrumptious, and the fajitas mouth watering good. However, the chips were stale and the chocolate piñata had some moldy fruit in it and stale churros. I'm assuming they pre make the piñatas so it's difficult to know how long they have been sitting for. The price made it hard to justify it being a worth to try it again. Dinner at 10pm was perfect. It's Saturday night and this place was not empty but not busy. We made a reservation and service was immediate. Didn't realize Uncle Julio's had been sold. Our last 2 visits have been terrible. The service is slow and they get things wrong every time. They have a new menu that is now just way overpriced and doesn't offer the quality and uniqueness that UJ is known for. The marg menu has changed and they are not good! Our first visit, I chalked it up to them having a bad day. Our second visit yesterday...during a non-crowded lunch with terrible service again, I looked up to see if they had sold. Yes, they did...to the parent company of Taco Bueno and a list of other fast food restaurants. They are going to tank the Uncle Julio brand, they are turning it into a sit down, very slow Taco Bueno. We won't be back, which is so sad because it was one of our favorites. Bring the quality menu back, do something about your service and hire people who know how to service in higher end locations...although the damage may already be done. read more

First time here and honestly just wasn't very impressed. The entire place is very loud and so large it feels like a cattle call. However, maybe be good for larger groups as there were lots of children and families. We sat at the bar area which is nice but also very large and crowded. I got the chicken fajita nachos and while, I did enjoy the flavor of the chicken and that they were individually topped chips, they were really just mediocre. Overall, it just wasn't a place I'd want to go back often. The margaritas were just ok as well, nothing special. I did enjoy the warm salsa and fresh chips, but any good Mexican should have those! read more
