The food was authentic, delicious, and everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly. I always judge a Mexican restaurant by the salsa and beans, and they knocked both out of the park. The chips were thin, salty, and perfectly crisp, and the salsa actually had flavor instead of just heat. I ordered the chile verde and loved that I could request it spicy. The corn tortillas were soft, fresh, and served hot. The rice was good, but the beans were something else entirely--hands down some of the best beans I've ever had. They had a flavor that was completely out of this world. Finding a truly authentic Mexican restaurant can be tough, but this place was exactly what we had been looking for. We'll definitely be back!

It was very busy when we walked in but there was no wait. We were thankfully seated immediately and started off with chips and salsa. The chips were nice and crispy, but the salsa was mediocre. The tomatoes tasted canned. While I can totally get the efficiency behind using canned tomatoes for a busy restaurant, the taste is not preferred. The kids chicken quesadilla plate was a good amount of food! I just wish the quesadilla was already sliced as it was for our 3 year old. The chicken was also bland. Again, the portions were great. My son ordered the Burrito La Herencia with ground beef and this was seasoned well. Again, great portions of beans, rice & main dish. No complaints with this one! My spouse ordered the La Herencia fajita special and felt as if it was lacking. The steak pieces were minuscule and the shrimp was bland and undercooked. The pork chop was thinly sliced which was nice but VERY salty. We were wishing for more peppers and onions as well. Overall this dish was salty, but tolerable! It came with a side plate of rice, beans, pico de gallo, guac, sour cream & lettuce. Served with flour tortillas. We ordered the queso & guac while we were looking at the menu and waiting. I personally did not enjoy the queso. It was thick and had an artificial mouth feel. The guac was decent! Bland overall but I love the taste of avocado. I wish it had more lime and seasoning though since it was supposed to be Guacamole and not avocado dip. I ordered the Steak Mexicano with extra jalapeños and this was very good. Still on the salty side but I enjoy things on a SLIGHTLY saltier range. My spouse thought the steak was TOO salty. The peppers, onions, and tomatoes were nicely sautéed and seasoned. The rice here is also DELICIOUS. I hate a bland Mexican rice. The beans were good too but nothing to write home about. I do wish I was offered a side of corn tortillas. Overall this experience was okay! Not the worst but definitely not the best. The restaurant was beautifully decorated but there was a noticeable lack of music. When we walked in, an older woman greeted us right away with the sweetest smile and seated us immediately. She ended up being our hostess and was so kind and attentive the whole time. The atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. The menu isn't huge, but it has a good variety and the prices are very reasonable, especially for how much food you get. I'll admit I was a little unsure when I saw queso wasn't complimentary, because sometimes when you pay for it, it's not that great, can tell it's made with velveeta. But we ordered the large anyway and it was actually really good. The salsa was just right too, not too mild but not overly spicy. I ordered the enchilada platter and wasn't sure how I'd feel about the red sauce, so I also got a beef chimichanga on the side just in case I did not like the red sauce. Both were really good, and the chimichanga was way bigger than I expected, honestly a full meal by itself. My daughter got the Cowboy Quesadilla and said it was the best one she's had in a while. My husband ordered the steak fajitas and really liked them, his only comment was that the steak pieces were a little thin. Overall, everything was great. Carlos is especially amazing--he's always friendly, attentive, and provides excellent customer service. Experiences like the ones I've had with him are a big reason I keep coming back. Unfortunately, tonight was a completely different experience. My friend only ordered a drink while I ordered food. When the bill came, we noticed he had been charged $11 for chips and salsa, which was shocking. We've eaten here many times, and chips and salsa have always been complimentary with a meal, so this caught us completely off guard. When we asked about the charge, our server explained that because my friend didn't order food, she had to charge him for the chips and salsa. While I understand that restaurants have policies, I tried to find a simple solution by asking if she could just add his drink to my ticket since I had ordered a meal anyway. She told me she still couldn't do that and said we would have to pay the charge regardless. What made the situation even more confusing was that she acknowledged chips and salsa come with a meal, yet there seemed to be no flexibility to resolve such a small issue. It wasn't even about the money--it was the lack of consistency and customer service. As regular customers who come here often, it was disappointing to be treated this way over something that could have been handled much more reasonably. A little understanding or willingness to work with us would have gone a long way. I'll continue to say that the food is excellent, and Carlos continues to be one of the best employees here. However, this experience left a bad impression, and I hope management reviews how situations like this are handled so loyal customers don't leave feeling frustrated.
