My wife and I decided to try Dulce Vida for Valentine's Day. We had never been to the Northwest Expressway location, but every time we drove by the Memorial location while it was under construction, it looked like it would be a fun place to try. We were totally impressed with the experience. The interior design and artwork matches the fun modern aesthetic you see on the outside. They had flowers and balloons to correspond to the Valentine theme. Chips are served in little baskets that look like deep fry trays. We even saw churros served in mini street carts. I had the Jala-Pina mocktail. The tajin on the rim made it a good spicy mocktail. My wife Raspberry Margarita was sweet and refreshing. We had the choriqueso appetizer. We couldn't stop eating it. The meat had a great flavor and the queso was served hot with a good consistency. When they brought out my Macho Bravo Burrito, I was impressed with how big it was. My wife loved the Mini Chimichangas, and the sauces it included. We found our new favorite Mexican restaurant in town, and we'll definitely be back and bring more guests when we can. read more

This is my first visit to this establishment. Pros and cons: Pros: - Cool, artsy, tropical decor and vibe, evoking a beach club in the Yucatan. - The staff were all pleasant and friendly. - Extensive menu, there something for everyone here. - The flautas I ordered were delicious - The house lime margarita is pretty good as well. Cons: - Wait service was a bit slow, especially considering that they weren't very busy. But, once our order was placed, it arrived pretty quickly. - The chips they brought out with the salsa were stale. We ordered the choriqueso and more chips as a appetizer, and the 2nd batch of chips were stale too. - About the choriqueso, it was pretty bland. I've definitely had better. - I had to ask for salt since there was none on the table, and the salt shaker I was given was sticky on the outside...ew. Overall I give it 3/5. Not terrible, but not somewhere I have any burning desire to return to, especially considering the embarrassment of riches we have in this town for great Tex-Mex/Mexican food. read more

It's the old location where Abuelos used to be. Very pink building now, almost like pepto-bismol color. The inside has a similar floorplan as the old Abuelos, just different decor. It's very feminine and cute, lots of pink and purple but keeping with the Mexican theme. Modern Mexican music was vibing, volume was good. We got seated at a booth, the table was a tad sticky and there were crumbs on the seats. I got the Berries Refresher that came with bits of berries: strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. It was good and refreshing. Started out promising. Got their Chips & Salsa. It came in this really cute basket. Chips were okay, except that we ate a few off the top and the rest were all in little bits. Maybe we got all the leftover chips. The Carne Asada was decent. I ordered a side of fried egg and it was weirdly burnt on the sides and bottom. At $2.50 for one egg, would've really liked a better cooked version. The Seafood Enchilada was a shrug, with bits of overcooked shrimp and pieces of fake crab meat strips. With so much better Mexican food options in the surrounding area, we may be going to those other places when we crave Mexican food. read more

To begin with, the whole experience was a nightmare. I ordered a chicken dish which was supposed to be grilled with onions and mushrooms. The chicken was pounded to about 1/16 an inch thin. It was over-cooked and so dry and tough it was inedible. My husband ordered the chicken tamales. The outside of the tamale was not the traditional masa, but appeared more like a fluffy pancake which was wrapped around very little filling, which was so spicy my mouth burned for at least ten minutes after I tasted it. It was served with cheese dip rather than a traditional tamale sauce. They had a mariachi band playing. They were so loud you couldn't even hear yourself think, much less talk to anyone across the table! Hardly conducive to dining. Service was slow and a waiter dropped a tray of food on the floor at a table near us. I was told my meal would be refunded. The waiter offered to send another meal home with us, and I agreed to accept it. When we got our check, we had been charged with my meal! By then I would have paid almost anything to just get out of there!! Never again!! read more

Good location, may be bigger than one on NW Exp. Both cute and fun atmosphere. Lots of color. Lots of pink Flamingos. Cute pink chairs at tables. We ordered the Hawaiian Quesadilla that comes with refried beans and rice. The Quesadilla has chicken, cheese, Pineapple and should have grilled onions. This visit we swear they forgot the onions! It was still good, maybe cook at this new location needs some practice. They have such a big menu, this may not be a popular one. Next visit hope it's correct or I will be asking. Love grilled onions! They have full bar with I can just imagine great fruity drinks. Oh. And the sweet tea at this location was not good today. The Service was good. Great atmosphere, but serious service and food safety concerns A group of friends and I visited on a Saturday evening to celebrate our joint birthday, and while the atmosphere was genuinely vibrant and festive, the experience was unfortunately overshadowed by a series of operational issues. We started the night by relocating from an uncomfortable booth to the bar's high tops -- only to lose service entirely once we moved. After flagging down a manager, he kindly helped us get another round of drinks. It then took nearly an hour before a server was assigned to our table. To his credit, our eventual waiter was warm and attentive. Our food arrived about 40 minutes later -- understandable given a large party had arrived around the same time. The dishes themselves were enjoyable, until I found a long black hair in my rice. Our server apologized sincerely, and through a Spanish-speaking friend, we learned he was genuinely remorseful. He also disclosed that kitchen staff do not wear hair nets, which is a concerning gap in food safety protocol. The front-of-house appeared understaffed and without clearly defined server sections -- even the chip-and-salsa runners seemed stretched thin. These are fixable problems. With better floor organization and standard kitchen hygiene practices like hair nets, this restaurant has real potential. The atmosphere alone makes you want to return (unfortunately, I will not) -- I just hope management takes these concerns seriously. read more

I usually go with chicken, but the Steak & Cheese Fajitas caught my eye. The twist? Melted queso at the bottom of the skillet under the steak, onions, and mushrooms. Went here for my wife's stepmother's birthday. Another high priced restaurant whose food isn't worth it, not even close. I myself received beans, rice and two tiny @$$ 4" chimichangas that cost almost $20 and tasted like 4 days old Taco Bell. Their menu is deceiving, this is supposed to be one of their big dinners, yeah, maybe for a midget! Also be prepared, because it may make you sick just like it did our party of six. 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant, everyone was regretting it. Replaced a great Mexican restaurant (Abuelo's) with this nasty place. Definitely won't be back. Service and food taste were both very good. However they have the same problem many restaurants have and that is food temperature. While the plates were hot the food was luke warm to room temperature for every meal in our party(7 of us). What was otherwise very good tasting food was dampered by the cool temperature. Absolutely awful experience. Made a reservation for 17 at 6:30 a week before the day of. Arrived there 15 minutes early and there were 15 of us present. They wouldn't seat us until the whole party was present. Once the other two arrived (about 6:40 or so) they continued to brush us off as if we were on a waitlist rather than a reservation. We waited until 7:15 with still nothing and the hostess and waitstaff completely brushed us off and told us we would have to wait 20 more minutes for a table. We left to eat somewhere else immediately. It's unfortunate and just not good business in my opinion! My friend ordered a La Jefa margarita when we ordered our drinks and we all got our drinks but him. We waited, asked and were told, "they're backed up, it's coming" like 3 times. I finished my house margarita until they came and delivered a fried shrimp appetizer. I guess there's a El Jefe appetizer and waiter heard wrong. My friend still wanted his margarita, and was too nice and didn't ask him to take the food back. We of course, had to pay for it even though we didn't eat but one shrimp. (Wasn't good). Took over 30 mins to get our food, waters weren't refilled. Food was just ok. Would not recommend, there's too many great Mexican restaurants in OKC. finally tried dulce vida for the first time at their newer memorial location. to start off we got a michelada and a mojito for drinks and they were both delicious! for food we had enchiladas verdes and steak/cheese burrito. both meals were hot, yummy, and more than we could eat before we got full. our server made sure to check on us often and refilled our waters without us having to ask which i always love. also a nice woman that came around making sure we had enough chips and salsa throughout our dinner. not to mention the inside is beautiful! there's so much to look at from the flowers, murals, and unique light fixtures. i can't wait to come back and try more. read more

My friend and I ordered the Fresca margaritas, when we tried our drinks they were SUPER strong, which usually would be a good thing right? Wrong. The drinks were SO sweet, it tasted like they filled half the glass with agave syrup and the other half with tequila. We tried to be polite and drink them, we even asked our waitress for a cup of club soda to try to make them taste better. Nothing worked so we ended up asking her if we could just have 2 regular margaritas on the rocks. She suggested the spicy margaritas, so we agreed to try them. The drinks arrive; and again, ALL AGAVE SYRUP, with a couple jalapeño slices on top. By the time the second drinks came, we had finished our food and were so bummed by the whole experience we just wanted to pay and leave. She took the drinks back to the bar and from our table we could see the managers trying the drinks we had just been served and making grossed out faces after doing so. So we watch this and are just waiting on our check so we can leave. But nope! Our server told us the manager wanted to speak with us, so enter manager 1. He was apologetic, he kept asking us if we wanted replacement drinks and we declined (we had finished our food 15-20 min before) we told him we were done eating and just REALLY wanted them to let us pay and go! So the manager walks away, and we sit and wait another 15 minutes (I am not exaggerating) before manager #2 walks to our table. He asks us what the problem was, we explain the whole thing again, and THEN this man tries to tell us that the two margaritas we ordered "don't even have agave syrup in them." I snatched the drink menu so fast and flipped right to the page they were on and pointed to where each drink has agave syrup listed as ingredients. I also let him know that we could see him trying the drink when went sent them back to the bar and I saw his whole face scrunch up in disgust as soon as he tasted it. He tried to give us replacement drinks again. We explained to him that we had been done eating for at least 30 minutes and FOR REAL GUY WE JUST WANT TO PAY AND LEAVE.like please stop gaslighting us, we don't want anything else from you, we just want our check. This man continues to try and tell us that margaritas were fine. At this point I was so over it, I said "Sir, I am a general manager as well. As a friend, I suggest you look into your food cost on that agave because agave syrup isn't super cheap, and someone behind your bar is probably costing you a lot of money" So anyways, thank you for reading this far. TLDR: the food tasted bland/like frozen food that had been put in the microwave. The drinks are GROSS. And the Manager (didn't catch his name but he's a bald middle aged man) is suuuuper rude. Went to new location on Memorial and was immensely disappointed! First off, the drinks were pricey. I got a pina colada laden with ice. Not even half of that fancy vessel it came in had any drink worthy of that price. Secondly I asked the waitress of my fajita was sizzling ...she said yes and it came to my table flat. From the moment we walked in, we were transformed. The decor reminded me of South Beach; however, the food was all Spanish! The guacamole was the best I've ever had. The nachos were excellent (the white queso was so unbelievably good). There was enough to feed at least 2-3 people! We also had the the enchiladas. Holy moly! Your taste buds will be in heaven!
