Food is ok. Salsa is great! Horrible service. Waiter seemed confused the whole time. Didn't know the menu well. Took 15 minutes to get our waters and teas. Our appetizer didn't come out until our food came. Messed up all of our split checks. Then the waiter confronted me that my friend didn't tip him enough. Unprofessional. read more

This place is excellent. I got the chicken and steak fajitas and the meat was really tender and juicy and the steak especially tasted PHENOMENAL! We were near a girls birthday party and got to see them tear into one of the dessert piñatas. That thing looked amazing! My new fave Mexican spot! read more

Great food quality, fresh ingredients! Service was a little slow but not bad. Will go back again

Had the Guadalajara fajitas at the suggestion of the waiter. Beef, chicken and bacon wrapped shrimp. All really good and you could really taste the mesquite flavor. We went for the table side guacamole which is enough for 4-5 people. We will be back for sure. read more

I ate here for the second time. The hostess was not very accommodating when I pointed to a booth that I wanted to sit in because it wasn't far from the hostess stand, she made me and my guests wait until she could see if it was was okay for us to sit there. She should have seated us then made the adjustments. I ordered the beef fajitas from the dinner menu but received the lunch portion. The server did not ask if I wanted the dinner or lunch portion, he saw I was ordering from the dinner menu. The lunch portion was too small for the price. Since it was taking too long for us to get our order the manager offered us their queso, we ordered it and it was awful, we all just took a taste and didn't eat any more of it. It tasted like melted Velveeta cheese. My fajitas were cooked the way I requested, rare, but when they came out, they either poured soy sauce on them or they marinated them in soy sauce or possibly both. Either way all I tasted was soy sauce. Worst marinade for fajitas. The guacamole was bland no flavor. So if I want texmex I'll stick with Ted's Cafe Escondido read more

I don't get the hype..... First of all, I had made a reservation, and it was at 5:30 (I believe), so it was getting busy, but not as absolutely crazy as it was when we left. (Side note: I'm sorry, but I am not waiting ANYWHERE for 15-30 minutes just to get to the hostess stand and then have to wait for over an hour for a table. No way. I'll go back home and eat a bowl of cereal before I do that!) :) So I walked up and gave them my name and told them about the reservation. They located it and said it would be a minute because they were clearing some tables. I proceeded to wait for over 15 minutes and they still hadn't called us, so there was an open table in the bar area that happened to open up, and we took that instead. The restaurant hadn't been open long, so I understand that it happens, but they didn't really seem to care, and several employees/hosts were also hovering/standing around at the front, so hopefully they've ironed out the kinks by now. The drinks we had were good, but pretty basic. No flavors that were unique or special. The chips and salsa were fine. Chips were ok, salsa was better than the chips, and I liked that it was roasted salsa. (We don't get much of that around here). We ordered two different types of fajitas (steak and shrimp) and they were both good, but nothing you can't get at several other places in the area. And I've definitely had better tortillas around these parts! We ordered the nachos as an appetizer, and they were very good. I like that they were served with toppings on each chip, rather than a pile of chips with toppings poured all over them. The flavor was good and they weren't too heavy. Overall, I would go back if someone else wanted to go there or I was meeting a group, but prefer several other Mexican and Tex-Mex places in the area over Uncle Julio's. read more

Food was really good on the whole, and the service was adequate given that we visited during a busy part of the day. Atmosphere is warm and inviting, maybe a little loud, but not off-putting. It will be, for us, a place we will likely visit again, but probably only for special occasions as the we felt the prices were high relative to other similar restaurants in the immediate area that serve the same cuisine. Overall impressions were really good, but there was some sticker shock when it came to the cost. read more

This is a nice restaurant. Salsa is unique with roasted flavor. I had the honey chipotle chicken fajitas that were very good. My only complaint is that the inside seating area is very noisy when it's busy..it was very hard to carry on a conversation. Highly recommend to use Opentable if you plan to go during a peak time. read more

So I thought that I had chosen my favorite Mexican Restaurant already until I came here! Literally the best of everything I have ever eaten. From the unique tasting salsa to the quesadillas to the blanco cheese sauce - superb! The atmosphere was stunning and wait staff friendly. Will definitely be back. read more

Very nice atmosphere. Not impressed with enchiladas or salsa. Have to pay for normal set up items. Most likely would not return or recommend as there are so many better establishments. Thank you for your form response. Hope this place flops. We have notified many people downtown in the work environment to drive on by this joint. read more

Wonderful experience. Great waitress Jasmine who was here from Houston to help open. Thanks for putting up with us jasmine. Also we were treated to dessert by manager piñata was wonderful. read more

I truly wish I could give his place more than 5 stars!!!!!! So so so sooooooooooooo GOOD!!!!! I worried that it was another "hyped up" place but the husband wanted to go so I figured why not!! We tried to go yesterday but it was insane at 10:50 am(we thought we would get there early....HA)!!!! Anyways we made a reservation today on open table, walked in(super long line at lunch) yet we were seated within 3 minutes of walking in!!! Our server Micah was AMAZING!!! She was so friendly and knowledgeable and even bigger bonus points she was sooooooo good with our almost 2 year old!!! We will absolutely request her as our server again!!!!!! First of all you MUST try the table guacamole!!!!!! It's definitely worth it(our girl was eating it by the spoonful) and you get a TON of it!!!! We shared the JALISCO fajitas and our daughter had the bean and cheese nachos with fresh fruit!! Serving sizes were great and the food was EVEN BETTER!!!! I also had the fresh margarita(happened to be raspberry today) and the hubs had the El Jefe margarita...... BOTH were incredible!!!!! We will most definitely be back and next time will be trying the chocolate piñata!!!!! read more

Price was on the high side but the waiter was great and food was good too. very busy when we went but we got food on time and drinks were out in time too. Nice atmosphere will definitely come back again just have to save up for it. Probably most expensive Mexican restaurant I've been to in Okc but definitely not the best. read more

This place is awesome!!! The drinks, the food, the atmosphere. The el jefe margarita is my favorite. The fajitas are awesome. I have yet to get the awesome piñata dessert. I've sat outside, at the bar, and inside - all very good service. read more

It's always a packed house here but service is top notch. Jazmine was attentive and courteous. Sitting in the bar or patio sometimes comes with slow service, but not at Uncle Julio's thanks to Jazmine. read more

Spicy but gooood. I'm going to go there here and there and the great stuff is just wonderful. I'm not crazy about the parking lot.

Went here for my birthday on Saturday, October 13. Firstly, many other diners have complained about service? NO PROBLEMS, wait staff all above and beyond. And another gripe I saw? Portion sizes? Portion sizes are perfect. However? Breaking dishes? Yes, several other Yelp reviewers mentioned sounds of dropped and breaking dishes during their visit, and this ALSO happened during our visit. Several dishes from overloaded tray, went crashing to the floor. Okay, accidents happen but apparently these accidents are routine at this location. PRICE? Oh yeah, major problems. Our party of two, had, one soft drink and one margarita, one appetizer (small bowl queso cheese sauce) and chicken/bacon fajita's for two. Bill was $83! Before tip! That's just crazy. Breakdown, bowl of cheese (tasted yummy), one large chicken breast sliced, and a few shreds of onions and peppers, and three slices bacon were the fajitas. The complimentary salsa is full of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. Which is fine. The beans and the rice are also flavored with chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. The sauce on top of the bacon/chicken fajita meat is also, flavored with chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. This is the flavor of the restaurant. Which is fine with me, because I like it. But. Everything tastes the same. AND as many other Yelp reviewers have stated before? THE FOOD IS NOT HOT. There are dozens of excellent Mexican food restaurants in the OKC area, most locally owned. Fajita's are served STEAMING HOT on a cast iron skillet, smoke all going throughout the restaurant. CHARRED bits of onions peppers and proteint. NOT fajitas at Uncle Julio's. They are served on a hot plate, but the pile of chicken and bacon strips appear to have been previously arranged into a pile, and then refrigerated. NOTE TO UNCLE JULIOS: dumping a pile of refrigerated chicken strips onto a HOT PLATE does NOT make, hot fajita's. Luke warm strips of chicken topped with, as the aforementioned stated, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (which are CANNED, by the way). No reason to go here really at all. Tourists they are aiming for. The next table got the chocolate pinata dessert, for $35. It was cool, I admit. But it's a cheap chocolate shell filled with strawberries and I couldn't even tell what else, with dollops of whipped cream, around. Save your money. If you are a tourist to the OKC area? Look to the southwest/southeast side to find real Mexican food. read more

Absolutely disappointed. I had called ahead to make sure they had gluten-free options for myself and they assured me they had a completely gluten-free menu set aside. When we arrived, our waiter rudely told me "that we don't DO gluten-free so you may as well go somewhere else." I had to sit and sip water while my entire family ate. They did not even offer to try to assist me in making something gluten-free and I will not be coming back due to how I was treated. read more

This is the second time we've tried Uncle Julio's, hoping the first time was an anomaly since they'd just opened. Nope. Ate there last night. We were seated on the patio, which was fine and we agreed to. Our table was kind of set off from the others and I think we were easily forgotten or something. Our waiter was very pleasant and relatively attentive but the people bringing out our food and/or appetizers could never find our table. We'd see them come out and try to flag them down but they'd still carry out food all over the patio before they figured out where we were. Had to ask for a salt shaker as none was on the table and that seemed to be a difficult find for the waiter. Our appetizer of queso and guacamole was excellent though the portions are TINY for $10. We split it between 4 people and each person got maybe a teaspoon of guacamole and slightly more queso but it's WAY too small for the price. I ordered shrimp tacos which were awful. The mango salsa tasted off and some mystery ingredient was so spicy I coudn't eat it. I ended up picking out the shrimp to eat and calling it a day. My husband got the agave chicken and only ate a few bites as it was tough and dry. My son got the flank steak quesadillas and they were so tough he couldn't eat them. Only my son who got the ground beef tacos enjoyed his food. It's just way too expensive for the portion sizes and quality of the food. We won't be going back. read more

Not so much here! Took a family of 6. Left without food after 2 hours. Horrible experience! Happy Labor Day

The food was ok but the service and prices were terrible. Food was overpriced. The service was bad--they delivered my food to another table then picked it up and brought it to me. Too many other good Mexican restaurants in town. I probably won't be back. read more

Both times we went here service was terrible. Charged for drinks we didn't have. Have to asked several times for drinks. Items they didn't bring. They should employ wait staff not kids who get overwhelmed. Floor is like glass be careful with older folks. read more

Food is outstanding! Rainy weather caused condensation on the floor which made it feel like a skating rink. Watched one customer slip and nearly fall. Service was great and I will definitely return far another great meal. read more

We love Uncle Julios! After having several issues in the beginning with service, everything smoothed out and we love going there now. Ordered fajitas today and they were excellent! They were very dense and high quality meat. My husband loved them and he is fairly peticular about fajitas. The best thing about our last three or four visits was our server Darius. Even if you don't know by sight/name, you would know him by the way he's hustling around keeping all of his tables well-stocked with everything that you need/want, usually before you even have a chance to ask for it. We will always request one of his tables on our future visits!! read more

Can not tell you how disappointed I am with this place. Horrible service and rudest staff I have ever experienced. Food was bland and chips covered in Salt. First and last trip. Over priced food and horrible service! read more

Uncle Julio's has been my favorite restaurant since I was 5 years old, and always will be my favorite. I wish they had the charcoal at the OKC location so that they could make their ribs (those are soooo good), but past that, this location is equally as fantastic as all the others! read more

I loved the salsa and the cheese dip was good as well. I had the fajitas chicken was great stake not so much. I think for the price you can get better in OKC. Thanks read more

Easily the worst food I've had in OKC. It's funny anyone gives above a 1 star. We have a thread in our neighborhood group and it's about 95% of people that were unhappy with this place. Good location, cool patio. Bad food, rude and slow service. read more

Very chain-y. Overpriced food and drinks with mediocre flavor. House margarita tastes like a store bought mix. None of the food tasted "from scratch". Go with Barrios or Revolucion for legit food and drinks. read more

So happy to have an Uncle Julio's in OKC finally! It's always busy, which I can't be mad it because it's so good. There outdoor space is amazing read more

My wife and I thought we would try this place out early Saturday night before the crowd hit. We ate in the bar at a tiny booth. I got a steak and my wife tried the bacon wrapped shrimp. I tried a house margarita with no salt which was actually pretty good. I could tell it was made with salt and wiped off later, no big deal. Seems this place is known for it's fajitas. The main part of meal was good. Meaning the shrimp and steak. The rest needed help. Soft corn tortillas were thin and tasteless, the beans were barely warm and tasted like chili powder. The Spanish rice was actually cold. It looked like all meals were served fajitas stile with sizzling plates and small plate stacked on top of your food with guac and pico. I tried an "El Jefe" margarita recommended by server and couldn't drink it, never saw her again to get anything else. Bad food and bad service is a bad combo... We won't be back read more

I had a much anticipated lunch today at Uncle Julio's and was very disappointed . I was prepared for the wait...but the food was way under par. Cheese enchiladas is what I ordered with black beans and cilantro rice. The enchiladas were very thin, either they were old or over cooked. The tortillas themselves were hard not soft as they should be. The cheese that was put over them was of unknown origin, but tasty. Black beans were fine( can't ruin them much) and the cilantro rice was just plain not good. I put a lot of stock in salsa that is served at Mexican restaurants//theirs was just medium. For people waiting in line for hours to get seated I sure don't see the draw. read more

Look the food and drink is amazing and staff is great , just feels poorly ran by management. The most unacceptable item is that the floor in just about everyplace has grease on it and could barely keep from falling particularly around bar. Had this not been my third time here and each time exactly the same I wouldn't have posted that. Also on the three occasions food was delivered to or tables multiple times that was not ours. That's obviously training issue which again is on management. Don't want to discourage anyone from going because the food and drink and minus training issues the service is awesome. Should have no problem getting the stars up soon. Also some say prices are high, i say its from scratch and seem worth it to me. read more

The food was bland and largely flavorless. The room is nice, but the lighting at the table was all wrong. It was so dark I couldn't read the menu on the table. And why is it so hot in the main dining room, especially in the middle of a hot summer day? The guacamole was the only bright star . . . it was truly wonderful. My impression is that this place is skating by with its colorful frozen drinks and see-and-be-seen dining room. But otherwise, it was completely mediocre. read more

Courtney was amazing!!!! Food was amazing! 100% recommended going!!! Buttt ask for Courtney she made the experience even better!

We made a reservation because it was opening weekend. Had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated even with reservation. We expected as much though. The service was completely on point. Our 2 servers did a great job attending to all of our needs. The veggie fajitas were excellent. I wasn't a huge fan of the smoky salsa, but it was good. I prefer a garden fresh type salsa and wish they had more salsa options. The cheese was real but was thick and expensive. I prefer a thinner white cheese that comes with your chips and salsa and not an extra cost. Overall the food was all good, but nothing exceptional except the veggie fajitas (better than most other places). Everything else tasted about the same as similar mexican restaurants, but cost quite a bit more. Hubby and I both ordered fajitas but only got 4 tortillas between us.The atmosphere was nice despite being crowded (opening weekend). The sangria swirl was good, but way overpriced. The strawberry teas that my daughters got were a big hit, but also very pricey. We will probably continue to be regulars at another local restaurant that gives us free queso, tortillas and sopapillas with every meal. read more

First time to Uncle Julio's and could not have enjoyed it more. The atmosphere was great, the food and drinks were excellent and the service was impeccable. Jasmine was our waitress and she did an excellent job. She was prompt, courteous but best of all she was a great sport with my husbands jokes and constant bantering. Thank you Texas for loaning her to Oklahoma for a short while. The manager, Jeremy, also stopped by our table to check on us and see how we were enjoying our dinner. Top notch establishment. Glad to have them in OKC. read more
