Went to the new location in OKC. The service was great but the food was ok. I feel the one in Texas is better. Drinks were great!!! Not in a hurry to go back, but at least OKC has a new spot read more

Horrible. Two visits-first after opening, second months later. Both were exactly the same. A rude waiter who makes you feel he's "doing you a favor" is not one I prefer to serve us. And I love to tip...this was the case twice. Both male waiters on both visits actually made me want to complain & not tip my normal 20+. In fact I had difficulty in tipping at all. Had to ask for silverware, cloth napkins that didn't smell disgustingly sour, refills for drinks, incorrect platted food etc. Each of our requests/complaints were asked nicely...not rudeness BUT despite it all, both waiters responded by rudeness. Completely unacceptable! Food was average to good but not worth dealing with horrible wait staff. The decor was lovely as is the location & atmosphere. I really wanted the first visit to be a "new opening" isolated issue. But, unfortunately it was not. Highly overpriced based on service! I regret not speaking to management. read more

Awesome location and atmosphere.... But the food is not worth it! Extremely overpriced for the underwhelming flavors. Rice and beans were amazing but the proteins fell flat on flavor. Most impressive thing my party had was the homemade tortillas.... Otherwise, go to Teds or Alfredos. read more

Since my original review I've been back several times, and I realized I needed to update my review. Since that first time the food has been consistently good, and we've had some really good servers along the way too. May or may not be your favorite but definitely worth checking out a few times! read more

I've called 3 times to this restaurant to fix this dispute on my card. My bill was only $20 and they charged me $69. Just called again and was told that they're in a "dinner rush" and couldn't help me at the moment. Service was great WHILE I was there but not afterwards. Do better Uncle Julio's!!!! read more

Horrible absolutely nothing good to say. Service was inept, food was so not worth the price. Server took zero Responsibility for his inability to do a good job or put in a correct order!? read more

The fajitas are phenomenal! If you're looking for a good margaritas this is definitely the place. I have tried almost all of them and can't even pick a favorite because each is delicious. Bartenders are great! read more

This place actually made me miss On The Boarder. The service was good but the food was ok at best. I am not a fan of the water salsa. I swear they use velveta cheese in the enchiladas. I am not even sure if they serve beer since no visible taps or a beer menu. Stick with the local favorites for Tex-Mex in Oklahoma. We have some of the best in the nation all over the metro area. read more

There are a lot of cuisines that are difficult to level up and that is generally mexican food and chinese food. There are so many alternative options out there. The food here was good but it wasn't anything that would blow your mind. They offer aged carne asada amongst table side guac which is fine but in the end, there is anything that really "wows" you. If you got a big group, I would recommend their dessert pinata. read more

First of all the food is the worst for the price. We ordered carnita tacos and fajita chicken tacos. Rice and beans were ok but the chicken and pork in the tacos tasted like rubber/bland. Also, taco shell were not soft even though they claim it to be from scratch. It felt like it was prepared long time ago and just heated. Especially chicken was so bland I can't describe. This restaurant is all about quantity but quality is below par. I was really surprised by the amount of people they get. read more

My wife and I had dinner here tonight (7/14/19). I couldn't give a 3 star review but would have like to do 2 1/2 stars. The food was good, not great but good. Being from Norman we don't get north side for dinner often but because both of us had been wanting to try this place and we had things to do in the city today we thought we would take the opportunity to eat here tonight. The service is where the place lacks. We had both read the complaints about service but thought, well, you typically only read reviews from people that don't like the place. Sadly, the reviews were not wrong. We sat in the far back room and at one point there were 6 employees in that room and only 1 employee with a table and that one was doing the table side guacamole. Ironically the table behind us got their guacamole comp'ed due to it taking to long to get to them (still hadn't gotten there by the time we left). At our own table service was very slow and highly disappointing. We had skirt steak fajitas for 2, they were cool by the time they got to us, by the time I had my second fajita it was cold. The idea that this place is supposedly moderately priced, seems a bit off, wide had 2 margaritas and I had 2 beers, as I said we had the fajitas for 2 and it was an $88 tab. After paying I requested a printed receipt, finally got tired of waiting for it and had to ask the hostess on the way out to get it for us. As we walked past the kitchen I noticed several employees standing and talking, which probably explains the slow service. Again, food had good flavor, but sadly due to the service we received, we won't be making a return trip. If I'm gonna pay that much for a meal, I would certainly like to see better service. read more

Where do I begin... not sure how you can screw up chicken and steak fajitas, but it's possible. The steak tasted like it was marinated in soy sauce (gross!). Portion size for the price is disappointing. Service took way for the basic essentials like Utensils, plates, and water. Food took even longer to get, granted it was a Saturday night and it was a little business, but it shouldn't have taken over an hour for fajitas. I just don't foresee myself ever eating there again. read more

Worst Mexican food ever. As a native Californian and as a Mexican, this place is just laughable. The nachos were absolutely horrible and shouldn't even be considered nachos. I had some hopes for this place because the restaurant is very pretty and nicely decorated. But the food needs work. I had nachos and shared some enchiladas both which sucked. They lacked the fresh taste and presentation. The rice was burnt and hard and tasted like it was heated up in the microwave. The raspberry and jalapeño margarita were very delicious, I will give them that. Our waitress was also HORRIBLE. She had the worst attitude when we would ask for things. She made our dining experience even worse than it already was. If you're looking for good Mexican food this place ISN'T it. read more

I have determined that you either love or hate this place. If you've got money to blow on mediocre "Mexican" food and slow service then you probably love it. If you don't want to pay 10.99 for a mixed drink and 16 for quesadillas you go to Ted's. Visited 2 times, the second time a year later. Nothing has changed. read more

I've been there twice now, my first and last! When paying $14.50 for two Enchiladas, I expect them to be prepared well. Uncle Julio's doesn't use any enchilada sauce on their beef enchiladas; all they do is slather their green chili cheese over the top of a tortilla wrapped around dry ground beef. This was an insult to my palate and my pocketbook. I suspect the beef enchiladas are an indication of the quality of the rest of the menu and I wouldn't recommend this food to anyone. The Paloma is a great cocktail but the price doesn't equal the flavor nor the size of the drink at $14.00. Even with our present inflation, these prices are way out of line. read more

I wish I can give zero stars because the food I had was awful, the nachos weren't even nachos at all and then the rice was over cooked and had no flavor whatsoever and then the guacamole had brown patches. Not real Mexican food. read more

By far the best Tex-Mex in OKC. The food was great. Margaritas were delicious and strong. The chocolate piñata is a must if you have never been, yes it's $25-30 but its well worth it. read more

I went during lunch. While the hostess was a little rude, the service and food was amazing. The lunch fajitas came out super quick and were crazy good. The service was spot on and no complaints. It was a good lunch spot to get in and out of. read more

Uncle Julio's is really great! They have good kid options and everything is just super good. Fabulouso!

Great tex mex in a nice setting. My kids love it here. I like it as well, but it is not my favorite tex mex.

This place is just overpriced Mexican food. Definitely not worth the money. The food is on par with mediocre Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. The service is usually substandard. I've never had a great experience at any Uncle Julio's anywhere. This place is no exception. read more

Worst experience ever. Took 20 mins to sit down when we had a reservation, then took 20 minutes to get water so we decided to leave but as we were walking out the door we ran into our waitress so we felt awkward and returned to our seats but we honestly should have left. All food was cold and took an additional 20-30 mins for food. We then had to wait 15 mins for the check. Absolutely awful service and we will never return. read more

The service was always good. The food is just OK. I've been twice. I do enjoy the chocolate piñata dessert. That's fun to hit a big ball of chocolate and have churros fall out. read more

Well, this has been one of my favorite places to eat Mexican food in OKC. However, something must have changed in the kitchen. My last two visits were quite disappointing. This last time, cheese enchiladas was almost not edible. Couldn't cut one of the enchiladas with a fork it was so hard. The wait staff is always excellent, but the food quality has dropped drastically lately. The previous time, everything was ok, but the beef enchiladas was cold when I got them, making me think they may be frozen even though they are "made from scratch". I am not sure we can give them another shot , to me it is way overpriced for the quality of food they are putting out now. Very disappointing, as it use to be amazing and well worth the price. Good bye Uncle! read more

I was starving for some great food upon being inside over a couple of weeks without flavorful food due to COVID19. I was happy to see they extended their delivery to Edmond. I tried before when I first move here and was't able to get delivery. The delivery hit the spot, although I had to add my own sauce and extra cheese & Ro-Tel tomatoes with green chilies - it was completely filling!!! And sooo good! Enough for breakfast in the morning! read more

Visited Uncle Julio's for the first time for dinner on 24 September 2018. Customer service and attentiveness was superb!! Staff members offered menu item recommendations upon my request and the food was hot, flavorful and positively the best Tex Mex I have EVER had. Being from Southern California, I know what real authentic Mexican food should taste like and prepared. Uncle Julio's even prepares homemade fresh flour tortillas....the way they should be. Chili's removed table side guacamole from their menu and serve imitation scooped nasty guacamole now and cannot even get fresh guacamole. As suggested by the General Manager at Uncle Julio's, the table side guacamole was prepared beginning with fresh ripened whole avocados cut open at my table and mixed with all the favorites...onion, tomato, cilantro, jalapeno and fresh squeezed lemon. Choose any of the latter mentioned ingredients or all of them, as I did, and enjoy the far superior customer service, great atmosphere and AWESOME view to the outdoor scenery. Uncle Julio's WILL NOT disappoint!!! read more

Very Tasty! We ordered lunch, and everything we tried was very good. The chicken and pork tamales were outstanding, and I thought the cheese and ground beef enchiladas were very good. The other items we tried were also tasty, including the table made guacamole, the basic margarita, corn tortillas, chips and salsa. We plan to go back. read more

Food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We had the pulled chicken quesadillas and combination enchiladas. Their frozen margaritas are really good as well. read more

We ate at Uncle Julio's Friday night, had reservations for 8:15, but had to wait about 20 mins for a table. I guess it wasn't terribly bad. Our server was great! We had margaritas and sangria to drink, table side guacamole and queso for appetizer. I had the Juanita platter and my husband had the fish tacos. Food was delicious! Overall everything was great! Definitely will come back! read more

Loved the restaurant much better then almost Tex mex places here in the state ! The homemade guacamole is to die for ! And the location is super cute, definitely going back ! read more

The wife and I passed by this place on our way to the movies Sunday afternoon and thought, "that could be a good place to have a Cinco de Mayo meal." So we made sure to stop on our way home for an early dinner. The restaurant was very busy, but we were able to get a table for two without a wait. Taking a quick glance at the menu while waiting for our drinks and chips, we both got really excited for the potential of the food. We first ordered a cup of queso blanco to share. The wife settled on the Coronado Pollo Platter, excites to try that New Mexico red sauce. I picked the grilled fish tacos, as someone who never passes up a chance for fish tacos. I really liked the salsa that came with the chips; it was more of a chipotle salsa than your typical Mexican restaurant salsa. The queso blanco was great. Unfortunately, that would be about as far as the praise went for the remainder of the meal. The best way I can describe the food here is as follows: when someone takes a trip to Mexico and has decent authentic Mexican food, then decides to come back to the states and recreate that using far too expensive fancy ingredients. What I mean by that is that the food here, while using very fresh ingredients, really lacked the taste style that you want from a Mexican restaurant that you're about to drop $50 on a meal. The pico de gallo on my tacos was like a 60/40 mix of red onions to tomatoes. The fish was extremely salty, while the shredded cabbage should have been more of a slaw and the avocado crema almost forgot to show up at all. It all just felt like someone really had the best of intentions when they set out to create these tacos, but just didn't have what it took to pull it off. My wife was less than thrilled about here pollo platter, too. She said that while the red sauce was a decent sauce, it definitely didn't mimic what you'd find at any quality place in New Mexico. Overall, I'd say I was largely disappointed in our experience at Uncle Julio's. In a state where you can find Mexican food just about any road you drive down, you've gotta bring your A-game if you're going to be charging as much for your food as they do here. I'd probably rate this place lower, but I'd at least sit and eat the chips, queso, and salsa again. read more

First time going to uncle Julio's but I would go back. I thought the prices were a little high, but my husband and I split the Guadalajara fajitas and it was a perfect portion and delicious! Really tasted the grilled flavor. I thought the bacon wrapped shrimp would be over cooked (because pretty much everywhere over cooks shrimp) but they were perfect and so tender. The meal comes with a spiced butter sauce that is so freaking good with the shrimp. Our server Daniel was super nice and made great suggestions! Only con for me was the sangria swirl was so so sour. Definitely will not try that again. Nice interior too with a neat tortilla machine my toddler liked looking at. read more

It was just okay. Definitely worth the prices. Refried beans are runny and seem more just like regular pinto beans.

So my mistake was ever comparing this place to Teds which I thought was my favorite Mexican restaurant. But when I first arrived to Julio's I had a feeling that might change. The atmosphere is unmatched. The food is phenomenal, and the bartender Gabriel showed above average showmanship. Carlos the manager went out of his way to take care of us. Thank you so much guys! read more

The food here is absolutely delicious. I ordered "Juanita's Platter" and it was the best shredded pork tamale that I have ever had. The red sauce is so tasty. I love the creamy hatch chili sauce on the chicken enchilada too. We splurged and got the chocolate lover's pinata - amazing! Super fun for the kids and grandma. It is a little pricey, but the food is awesome. The only criticism I have is that the salsa needs to be a little more "tomatoey". One of our new favorite places, we love it! read more

This seems like a great place for drinks. The chocolate piñata is unique, and worthy of special occasion dining. Unless I want one of those two things, I'm not going back. The food was average and very expensive. There's a reason why the food menu is small, compared to the drink menu. read more

Service was great and food was so so.Have eaten here before in a different state but food quality was better in the other one.

I was not impressed. Fish tacos were very bland. Very seldomly do I not finish a plate of food especially when it's almost $20. I've had better fish tacos on a food truck for a lot less. The server was unprofessional. Out of chips at 7:30 and then brought broken little pieces to us. Doubt we will go back. read more
