Four stars. We went for an early dinner with two other couples after a round of golf. It hasn't been open but a couple weeks so the servers are still learning. Be patient, the wait could be long and there will probably be some mistakes. Worth it though for the chocolate piñata. One of our guests order was wrong and it took a while to refire. The manager comped her food AND gave the table a free chocolate piñata. We'll give them a few weeks to work the bugs out and fix the AC but we will be back. read more

Great service and food. Very consistent. Best fajitas that include steak chicken and shrimp. Margarita is as good as you will find. Will stop back at Julio's on my next trip to OKC. Has a great vibe. read more

Uncle Julio's - Bacon wrapped shrimp is a favorite of mine. Very good service and food time and time again. - Tex-Mex Near Me - Oklahoma, Oklahoma

Best Mexican in OKC. The salsa is fresh, served warm and blends the right amount of spicy and smoky. Every meal we have here is always great. The guacamole which you can have handmade at your table is a special treat. Margaritas are strong and tart. read more

Atmosphere 8 Food 7 Service 6 Drinks 4 Sign up for rewards if you plan on frequenting! Why so hard on the drinks? Price is way to much considering the competition within walking distance. $14 for a spicy margarita that cannot touch the GTO at Sidecar. Food is smaller portions, but I could lose some weight so they get a pass there. I'll go back, but will have to bring a flask and ask for a sprite. I think $9 is a better price point, but can't blame them if people are paying it. read more

My partner and I were encouraged to visit Uncle Julio's and we were incredibly let down. Let's just get right into why I give this place one star. It appeared to be a busy day for them, and my partner and I both work in the service industry so we braced for the ride and sat with grace. We were told our wait would be 45 minutes. We had to sit in the entry with the doors slamming loudly every time a family came in. Irritating, but it's a wait and this is Oklahoma, what can you do. We were seated after waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes-- In a booth in the very back corner. We didn't receive table service for another 20 minutes. (I'm assuming because we were basically hiding in a corner? Not sure. They seemed to have plenty of staff.) The most prevalent thing that stood out to both of us, was just how gentrified it felt. The entire floor staff was white. Everyone eating there? white. Guess who they had in the kitchen? And doing the "table side guacamole"? Hispanic people. It felt way off and very gentrified. It made me feel embarrassed to be giving money to a business that is clearly white-washed and doesn't care about their heritage. We planned on going to Uncle Julio's to get some fun mexican food for lunch, and we ended up spending almost three hours waiting to leave. Don't waste your money here. read more

I had never been here before and have to say the interior was much nicer and upscale than I was expecting. Got the guacamole as an appetizer to go with the provided chips. The guac by itself was $11. Ordered two enchiladas meals and a kids taco meal. It was ok. It tasted a little "El Charrito" microwave meal to me. Got churros for desert, of which I believe I was charged for the ones for my sons birthday as well. That's fine, just surprising. When it was all said and done...$77. A little pricey for what you get and the quality of it in my opinion. read more

Waiting time is too long .Food is so so to much crowded for relax lunch or dinner . Tables are not much cleaned.

Definitely not as impressed with Uncle Julio's lately. Their food quality has definitely gone down and prices have gone up up. We use to go here frequently for their drinks and recently went and they were just not the same. Bar was pretty empty, which use to be packed in the evenings. I guess the quality and price hike have finally caught up to them. read more

Queso Blanca was pretty good! Their normal queso is good too with lots of flavor. I'm just a white queso kinda gal. The chocolate piñatas are a must though. Even if you aren't celebrating anything. You should still get it. The only reason I'm rating this 4/5 stars is the cost here is too much.. read more

First off, they have the best handmade tortillas ever and their salsa is pretty tasty too. Aside from the that, the food is decent and I enjoy eating it. Where my issue comes into play is that some of the waitstaff that I have had the "pleasure" of being helped by, was cocky af. They openly acted like they were superior to you and that they had better things to do besides help us. Don't get me wrong, i'm sure they do have much better things to do, but it's time to worky work, so you have to at least fake it. Prices are pretty steep considering most of the meals are nothing special in comparison to other places. I'm sure i'll eventually eat here again, but there are better all around places that I'd rather visit. Another side note, I've ordered food to go from here a couple of times and they charge you extra for the food containers, so just be aware of that when ordering. read more

I ate with a friend on Saturday, and I will not be back. The service wasn't that great. Was seated right away but it took some time before we had a waiter get our drink order. My friend ordered a Diet Coke when the food came and the waiter could be seen with the drink in his hand talking to a coworker, in the back, just no sense of urgency to provide good customer service. The food was ok, my friend ordered the quesadillas and barely ate them, that should have told me something. I remember going to the OU/Texas game in Dallas and looking forward to eating here, and I loved it. I don't know what happened but it wasn't the same great customer service or food quality. read more

Showed up on a Friday night at 9:50pm. Seated our party of 4 and food & service was excellent

We went opening week and sat at the bar. I rarely finish my plate at a Mexican joint because the portions are so big. But we received our enchiladas and then ... church. Great chips, salsa and queso, tambien. Bien Trabajo, Tio! read more

Nice enough atmosphere, but really basic Tex-Mex fare without justifying the price. I'd heard good things, but we were underwhelmed. Perfectly decent experience overall, but it would have blown me away if everything were $10 cheaper. read more

I've been here twice now and it's a pretty good spot. My first time experience influenced the 4 star rating mostly due to the food. The food is good but I didn't feel it was excellent. The dessert however is a really cool experience, the chocolate piñata. Chisholm Creek is one of my favorite areas in town due to the growing variety of places but this place isn't my go-to in that area. It's a good restaurant but for the quality of food and price, it's not my first choice. read more

We had a great time here. The presentation and meal was spot on, EXCEPT, we asked for corn tortillas and the waiter gave us flour. When we asked, he swore they were corn. We ended up not eating them and took our leftover home. As we were leaving, we asked if he was sure that they were corn. He said that he really didn't know what they were and laughed as he walked away. THAT pissed me off, but I went about my business. What's not funny? What if I had celiac? My daughter is celiac and what if she was with us? read more

Food is ok. Queso was good. Service is consistently terrible. I mean "never go to this restaurant again" terrible.

Love this place. The filet mignon fajitas with homemade tortillas are the best. Also, I am a big fan of the grapefruit margaritas!! Highly recommend this restaurant!! read more

This was our second visit, the service and food were both top notch. We ordered the tableside guacamole and it was delicious. Each person in our party ordered a different entree. One member at our table said the tamales were the best he had ever eaten. The fresh flour tortillas were soft as pillows and the salsa has a smoky flavor. The portions were big enough that half of us took home food. The meal is a little pricey but you have to account for quality of the food, the service, and the ambience. We will definitely put this establishment in our regular dining rotation. We were so sated we did not get to try the Chocolate Piñata but the next table over did and it looked yummy! read more

First time here and it was crap. It started out pretty good except for our alternative greeting of, "give me a sec.." instead, "Hello, welcome to Uncle Julio's"! Myself and my husband sat at the bar and got a beer. The waitress gave us some menus and then we waited 15 minutes to order. We had to stare her down and actually call people over to get service. We were served chips and salsa right away though. The chips and salsa were fantastic! So, I was like, "ok, this is gonna be really good". Haha, not the case! I ordered the shrimp and veggie quesadillas which came with sour cream and guacamole. The guac was bland and there were barely in shrimps in the quesadilla which didn't look like it was even grilled. This quesadilla is worse than the one I can get at Tropical Smoothie. For $14.99 you'd think you'd get a better meal than the $5 dollar one at a smoothie place. Husband got some enchiladas, which he didn't like. The rice was bland and disgusting and not even the correct kind that he ordered and the beans tasted like they were from a can. And that's ok if they were, but maybe dress them up a little so that they don't taste cheap? Just a suggestion. Even serving our meal was another waiter and he just looked miserable. As well as everyone else there. We had to ask twice for some water and when we finally asked for our check, seemingly unhappy, a different waiter couldn't have cared less about all the food still on our plate or the fact that we were there. Our bill was $60 and NOT worth it. We ended up complaining to the manager about our experience. She was extremely nice and comped our meal, which we were not expecting. I hate complaining, but how ridiculous. This is what we do on the weekends; we eat out and have drinks and find new places we love and to be treated this way is unacceptable. Here's an idea! Don't work in a place you don't like. Why are you here if you hate it? We will never come back here. read more

If you ate here 3 months ago...it ain't the same!!! Just HATE it when a new restaurant goes all out the first year they are open - then lets things go to crap. The ice tea was fresh and the tableside guacamole was fantastic...unfortunately, that's the only good news. Had chicken fajitas and the chicken was rubbery and the only seasoning I could taste was salt and garlic. The rice smelled and tasted like chili powder and was way too salty. We were there at 2:30pm - after the lunch rush and before the dinner crowd. Maybe 7 other people there. There were chips and spills on the floor. Our table smelled like it had been wiped down with a soured rag. There was a lull in the crowd and NOBODY was cleaning anything. Service was dismal - no offers to refill empty tea glasses or chip basket. Definite NOPE for us!!! read more

nope, worst Experience ever. Spent way too much money just to get our food that was barely any meat and the service took FOREVER! I never post but I could not help myself. Save yourself the overpriced dinner read more

I really wanted to like Uncle Julio's but I feel like 2 stars is all I can give it. I'd like to start off by saying that the wait service was excellent. Where I felt they fell short was the cook time and menu. For starters, we received chips but it took over 10 minutes to get any salsa served at our table. Secondly, the one and only beer and margarita we ordered took over 20 minutes to be served. Lastly, our three kids meals and two simple entree's took at least 35 minutes and all we ordered were soft tacos and cheese enchiladas. I recognize that it was Mother's Day but we came after 8pm and there did not appear to be a dinner rush of any kind. Unfortunately I also felt that the menu prices were a high considering the portion size. My tiny side dish of beans was approximately two tablespoons and the queso is an additional charge and taste like it's made from a powder (super super salty/side note none of us cared for it but at it out of starvation). For the almost $100 we spent we could have bought this meal 5X over at the store. read more

The food was reallly good. That being said, the waitress dropped a knife on my friend from above her head. Okay, mistakes happen could of lost an eye but whatever we let it go. Then she brought the wrong drink, wouldn't comp it and charged me for two $14 drinks one of which was wrong. So that's annoying. Then it took 40 minutes to receive our food, she added an 18% gratuity to our party of 6 at one small table, then dropped 4 credit cards on my head. So would recommend the food would not recommend the service. All of this on a Thursday at 6pm. I would hate to see this place on a Saturday. read more

Uncle Julio's food was awesome - delicious!! We sat outside, it was great! But, it took a really long time - over two hours, for dinner. Even after mentioning our after dinner plans to our server, it took us walking over to the register to get our ticket. It was probably a one time snafu, and the food was awesome, but we may not risk it again if we are on any kind of schedule. read more

Went here for lunch. Service, atmosphere, and food were all good. I got a basic taco and green chicken enchilada. My friend got steak fajitas. Hers looked amazing as well as mine. Chips were fresh and salsa had a Smokey flavors that was good. I look forward to going back. read more

Friends of mine warned that the service here was sub-par, but we really had a pleasant time here. The food was good and the service was great. The chocolate piñata was delightful, with delicious dipping sauces and fresh fruit. There was plenty for a party of 3. Six people could have probably had enough. We had the shrimp tacos. They were flavorful with a bit of a kick. The environment was a little loud, but we were also sat next to a large group in a smaller room, so that was more than likely a contributing factor. Would recommend and would go again! read more

Yuk...the food was just not good! Very pricey! The ambience is great, but food is not good and too expensive!

Have been here three times - First for a lunch, and my young son tagged along. Service was great and super fast and attentive. They were especially caring to my young son. The food was delicious! I had enchiladas, the little guy a cheese quesadilla. We had fun watching the tortillas being made and all the activity in the open kitchen area while we ate. While there, the boy noticed a nearby table who got the chocolate piñata and it was game over. We HAD to come back - but had to figure out who to take along to split this monster sized dessert with! So we returned with good friends. We had wonderful margaritas and cocktails, fresh guacamole made table side, beautiful meals. And.... yes the chocolate piñata! It was so delicious! Filled with juicy, fresh fruit and mini churros, with melted Chocolate, whipped cream and more to dip said items in along the tray. I don't know how we had room, but it was so worth it!! Came back another time for a work dinner. Delicious food, margaritas and guacamole. Wonderful service every time! read more

Way overpriced and the worst service ever. Other than the queso, the food wasn't even good. Didn't ever get silver or napkins after asking repeatedly until our food was delivered to the table. He took so long getting it we eventually got up and found some ourselves. I'll never be back. read more

Went there for lunch for the first time today. Food was very good. Can't say much for the service though. We were seated immediately and put at a table surrounded by many occupied tables while booths and more tables in not so crowded areas were available. After approximately 12 minutes we had yet to be asked if/what we wanted to drink nor any chips and salsa. It seems the confusion was who was the server for our table. We had just about gotten up to leave when a server who said this wasn't her table got us set up and went to find our server. All in all this made our lunch date a little awkward. The food was good as I said and the server (When figured out) was quite good. I hope if I go back things will be better. read more

The food and atmosphere were good, however, we were there eating dinner the night there was a tornado and I feel the staff did nothing to protect us or make us feel safe. In fact, I had to ask where was the safest spot to protect us from the storm was and after some time we were actually told we had to leave. Not everyone is from Oklahoma and used to tornadoes. We ended up leaving per their request and got caught up driving right into the tornado. It was terrifying! It was not handled well AT ALL by the staff. read more

We don't get to NW OKC often, but our Doctor's office is in the same area and see there parking lot is always packed. So last weekend we went to Uncle Julio's...I can't imagine why Oklahoma folk would go to this place. Yes it's new, yes it's $$, but that don't make a restaurant good, it's the food that does it. This place was not Mexican or tex-mex in my opinion, tasted like they just put some cheese, tomato sauce, some peppers and opened up a can of beans on the side. Plus no queso for your tortilla chips, this is Oklahoma. It was able to eat the food, but we could have got a whole lot more and a whole lot better for a whole lot cheaper than this. read more
