This chain used to be one of my fav Mexican restaurants. Not so impressed this time. Maybe it's this location. Everything seemed uninspired and kinda boring. Decor/ambiance was dated and crowded and I hate when I am cooped in a room with tons of people with large groups. No booths. Actually one stand out was that all servers were exceptionally nice. read more

Food and experience from the beginning were awful. Went with my family today to celebrate a special occasion, the waitress was awful from the beginning taking our orders, no refills on drinks or chips, had to flag her down. While on her way to get said refills she stopped to chat at the table next to ours that wasn't hers so long we, had to get up and go tell the manager. She finally came back with refills & subpar food from enchiladas to nachos to chicken fajitas. It was like a Tex Mex style, chunky sauces on top of dinners like a chili, etc. some of it very bland. We've had way better at other Mexican restaurants for sure. Due to the horrible service and "meh" expensive entrees, we will not be returning again. Update: a family member got really sick not long after eat here !!! read more

After over 8 years of patronizing Uncle Julios this was the worst experience. After waiting 15 minutes by a cold sitting area with my baby, I ordered the 3 enchiladas platter 1 chicken and 2 beef and they came out with the wrong sauce. I told the waitress and waitress then told me to keep the platter then only corrected 1 enchilada an bought out sauce for the others. At that point my food was cold. rice was hard and very crunchy, the chips were cold and tasted like old oil. My drink was watery. While I was there I called asking to speak to a manager while I was still at the table and the lady that answered put me on hold an no one ever came to the phone. I will never go back and will tell everyone I know about how horrible my experience was. read more

Awful service. Waited 10 minutes for someone to greet us. Ants on our indoor table. Yuck! Brought us fajitas with no tortillas. Had to get up and ask for someone to bring us the rest of our food. Waiters and manager all look confused about everything! Will not go back read more

It was okay messed up some of are orders food wasn't that good, just mid no free refills steak also came out pink and bloody, even tho we said well done 9/4/22-Ixzam read more

DO NOT DO CARRYOUT. We ordered online, and received texts about our order. We parked and text our spot. Waited 15 mins and nothing. Went inside asked where our order was and they could not find it. They said they cancelled it by mistake. They remade the order after charging us 2 more times. We waited another 30 mins. Only took for 10 percent of the bill. Terrible. Terrance was the manager at the time. Never ordering again. AVOID. read more

Inauthentic and overpriced. The salsa is very unusual, and if you can't get the salsa right at a Mexican restaurant, you don't stand a chance. As far as its authenticity, I liken it to Olive Garden for Italian food. read more

Absolutely trash. The meat was not cooked, rice was not cooked properly, and very crunchy. Most unauthentic mexican food I've ever had in my life. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. 1 star for decent service. read more

I love Mexican food, and this facility is great. But Uncle Julio's is one of the reasons I should pay more attention to the Yelp reviews. The food was marginal, and the menu was not very impressive. They do bring out the chips and salsa. The salsa was nice, but the chips we're paper thin and greasy. Really the worst I have ever had. I would not recommend Uncle Julio's, since there are so many food options in the area. read more

Food was way too salty. Wife and I had their $12 taco special. Waitress never informed us of the steak up charge. Would have still paid but would have been nice to know up front. read more

Seems like there's a trend here. This restaurant used to be a great place. Tonight was terrible. We made a reservation for 6 to sit outside. We were seated at a 5 top and were told to add a seat. We had to grab it. Had to ask for silverware 3 times. I finally grabbed 4 sets at the empty table next to me. 2 people didn't get silverware until the after the meal came. Kept having to ask for water from the waiter. Waiter was disinterested the entire time and kept acting like he never heard us ask for any of the missing items. Food came in waves and was not up to par with what we've had here in the past. Overall incredibly disappointing. I'm assuming this review will get a half hearted apology that sounds about as earnest as your employees acted tonight. Get your act together. You have the potential to be a good place to eat. read more

The place seemed clean and our waiter did his best, But they lost our reservation so we had to wait longer. The place was crowded and our chairs were too close to the next person. When we asked for a booth, they said they couldn't. The drinks were pretty good but they put salt down one entire side of the glasses. The food took a very long time to arrive and was mediocre. If the food would have been good, it might have been worth the $200 cost for only 4 people. read more

We made a reservation ahead of time and when we got there we had to wait a while until we even had someone talk to us (I normally get that since it gets busy) , then they couldn't find our reservation ( I made the reservation directly on the website around 6 for 8:30pm) but at least they found a place to sit us down anyways but even then it was seats that were separate from the actual nice part of the restaurant and we were sat extremely close to another table to the point where we could easily hear each others conversation and it felt uncomfortable. The waiter was actually really respectful and nice and did a pretty good job which is why the rating isn't as low. But later on when we ordered a chocolate piñata (which comes with an array of fruit) we only had pineapple in ours , which was upsetting since we were really looking forward to It since we were celebrating a birthday. We kindly told the waiter and he did admit that there was supposed to be at least strawberries also mixed in , so he went and got us a box of strawberries to at least take to go (which was kind of him and I appreciated) but overall we were pretty bummed out about the experience and really expected better. read more

What was good: -Service was great -Tortilla chips were served warm and were very thin and crispy -Chicken in fajitas were very good, arrived hot and in a timely manner -Nice outdoor area Not so good: -Mainly onions in fajitas (maybe one red pepper slice) - nothing else -Price a little steep - 19.99 for the fajitas -(Know this is typical for Mexican fare, but) wished there was more to the fajitas and fewer sides - don't need/want all of them (guacamole, sour cream, rice, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, tortillas - maybe let customer pick 3 or 4) -E-bill had 20% tip on total added, including tip on tax - could manually change this but still should not have included tip on tax read more

Horrible, slow service on a Saturday night. Do NOT go during dinner. Seriously, eat early, get there no later than 4:30 to ensure you're eating by dinner time. Reservations mean nothing either, btw. Oscar was our "server" tonight and clearly he hates his job. We waited foreverrr for drink refills. My water was never refilled so I ended up drinking my husband's. Ridiculous & not worth the hassle. read more

I went to Uncle Julio's for a celebratory dinner. The venue is really nice, and you feel like you are in a real Mexican restaurant. The food was pretty good, although not my favorite. I got the chicken enchiladas, and even though the chicken was good quality and the tortilla and sauce were good, the overall meal was kind of bland. There are many complaints that the rice is too dry, but I think it is perfect for Mexican rice. The best part of my meal was the chocolate piñata, which is a small piñata made out of dark chocolate with berries and churros inside, with an assortment of sauces and whipped cream on the side. I really loved the churros, but it fed a party of 8 perfectly, so only get it if you have a larger party. Overall, I had a good experience here, and I would definitely come back, even if it wasn't my favorite. The main reason why I only gave it 4 stars because of the bland food. read more

NOT WORTH THE MONEY. The drinks are awesome (but pricey), but the food is overpriced and nothing special. Don't be lured in by the pinata dessert; you break it open, and it's chocolate and fruit. Big deal. We went for an anniversary dinner. They forgot to put my order in, so my food finally came 15 minutes after everyone else's. They offered a sort of apology, but did not compensate us for any food or drink. I wanted to complain, but the lady at the table next to me was already looking like she wanted to murder our waiter for whatever he messed up there, so I bit my tongue and ate my late food and left. Won't be going back. There are tons of better mexican places in the area! read more

Horrible service during patio dining today. Half hour from the time we were seated until the waitress returned to take our order (which she got wrong). She showed up at that time with my iced tea (after another server had brought my wife and daughter's drink 15 minutes earlier). She didn't apologize for the long delay in the drink delivery or in taking our order. Nor did she apologize for the order being wrong. Food is overpriced. $15 for tacos or quesadillas? read more

Super yummy food! A bit pricey but worth it! Portions are bigger than i expected and the flavors are delicious

Not impressed with their overpriced Mexican themed food. You can find better local restaurants instead of this chain.

I like the atmosphere and it's walking distance from the hotels. Aside from that, if you overdo it you can walk your fatness to LA Fitness. I give them a 4 for location and amenities, 3 for service, and 2.5 for food. So basically a 3. read more

My family visited this location on a Monday night around 6pm. It was fairly crowded but we were seated immediately by a very friendly hostess. Our server asked for our drink order about 3 minutes later. They brought us chips and salsa quickly. The chips were really crisp, thin and salty. The only complaint we have, about the chips, is that after we finished the top layer the rest were all crumbs. The salsa was decent, it was chunky and had a smoked, chipotle flavor. We ordered guacamole and queso combo for about $10. Don't do it, there wasn't much cheese or guacamole. They put the guacamole on lettuce so it looked like there was more than there really was. I ordered the chicken fajita quesadilla. I think it was about $12.99 which was about $5 too much. It was good and came with sour cream and guacamole but no rice or beans. My daughter got the veggie fajita quesadilla and my husband got the steak fajita quesadilla and had the same opinion. My son got the beef enchiladas and said they were worth the price. We spent $83 with tip (no alcohol or dessert). I think it is just a little too expensive and probably won't return. read more

Very nice Mexican restaurant. High quality food. I take family and friends whenever they come to visit!

How to start. Julio's idea of guacamole was a smashed avocado with diced white onion on top. The tacos? I've had better off of a taco truck in Aurora and Chicago. Margaritas were the only thing that tasted correct. My son said he was talking his girlfriend there for her birthday thankfully I stopped a bad dinner for them before it happened. read more

Not a big fan of chain restaurants but had a gift card. Overpriced for average food. Our service experience was good, but we went midweek and it was a slow night as there were plenty of open tables. Beer choices was minimal. No draft selections. And they do not offer Bohemia, my "go to" Mexican beer. Got the guac tableside that was good, but the guy had a tip jar out...so what do you do? Tip the guy a couple of bucks and short the server? It's a $3 upcharge for having it made tableside...so give the guy making it the $3 and remove the tip jar. Tacky in my opinion. read more

Never much cared for this place....that being said we gave it another try post Covid. This past Saturday we stopped in for a quick cocktail and apps after a funeral around 2:00. Sat at table outside not busy at all. Waited for 15-20 minutes before any waitstaff approached our table not a flicker of a smile on his face. Ordered drinks, their basic margarita came in an old fashioned glass and tasted horrible, basically artificial tasting sour mix, sent it back got water. We finally asked for chips and salsa about 15 min later and got chips no salsa. Chips tasted flat not a drop of salt, asked for salt never came. Appetizer of bacon wrapped shrimp mediocre at best. Waitstaff not friendly in the least. Well now I can say NEVER again, awful! read more

Besides the food being delicious, I would like to thank Annissia - Mgr on duty for accommodating our group of 30 without calling ahead for reservations. Thank you again and with your type service, we're definitely coming back for more and this time, we'll call ahead. read more

I didn't like the tasty of the steak I got with my tacos, an my my first alcoholic drink wasn't strong enough.

My family and I came here for New Years. We still are talking about this dinner experience and laughing. We ordered an appetizer before we placed our order, we got ceviche. I probably didnt have more than 3 or 4 scoops and the ceviche was gone......There were only 3 of us. This is not your typical Authentic Mexican restaurant ceviche were they serve you almost a meal portion (like El Barco and Lobo del Mar in Chicago or even Los Fernandez in Hoffman Estates) We all ordered alcoholic beverages. I had a strawberry margarita, my mom had mango and my dad had beer, Miller Lite. No complaints there, our drinks were good, made in house with a decent serving size. Then came our Fajita Grill Mix...We ordered this for the 3 of us, like we typically do. We asked our server if it was big enough for 3, he said yes.........BAHAHAHA we get our meal and the platter had 3 shrimp, 3 SLICES of chicken, and 3 SLICES of carne asada. We only got 2 tacos each (the torilltas were homemade, yum!). This is not your typical fajita grill platter. Typically you have so much food that the 3 of us even have left overs. Ive never been able to actually count the pieces of meat on our plates. This was a sad New Years meal, with a deep Naperville price on it. After the meal my mom joked shes sure Uncle Julio is my uncle on my dads side because Uncle Julio is stingy and no family member on her side would ever serve a meal like that...Cheers to 2016! read more

Stop what you doing and listen very very carefully. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Went there on a Saturday night pretty late around 830. Place was busy but only quoted a 30 min wait time. We waited a 40 min host stand said another 10 min. Repeated this cycle 3 times. Finally after asking for manager 2 times. One came and told us their Point of sale system was down for the last hour and their restaurant was basically shut down??? And ur a manager interesting way to solve a problem. No one knows how to write a paper ticket I guess. We said we were leaving and the manager asked to stay and that he would comp some stuff for us because of thr time it took. Mind you two hours had passed we would have left if told earlier but now all the kitchens in other restaurants we beginning to close so we were stuck. Sit down for dinner, here is the bullets 1)They were out of this and that. Settled for what they did have. 2)Asked for extra sauce, they told me the kitchen was closed. 3)Server was clearly irritated we were there so late. Even though the manager asked us to stay 4)Food tasted like we'll North American Mexican food. Nothing authentic about and their "made from scratch" line not sure what that is supposed to imply but if it is that it taste better or something. That's a lie. Got the bill they comped one $5 g guacamole. For a table of 6 people Don't go yet readers it gets better! I asked for manager, they told me manager In charge is not available. Told me to call Sunday. I call Sunday first manager tells me that she does not handle these issues and second manager tells hears my story. Ask for my name and phone and say all customer service issues are handled by corp office human resources department and I'll get a call in 2 days??? I literally laughed on the phone. I was like o really so I give them the info. As u expected no call... I called back got the GENERAL MANAGER that's right folks the supposed queen bee. She was the worst out of all of them. Lady right of the bat was irritated didn't want to hear my story said corp handles all issues after the customer has left. No call no answer. I called corp my self left a message on some lady's voicemail that supposedly handles these issues. Again no call I am a Foodie been to every place in naperville large and small. 1 hour to get our food after the manager suggested the length of time related to how long it takes to cook vegetables Would have preferred he told the truth which was the busy but kind waiter didn't put in our order Most tables waiting simply for chips and the first drink order Disappointed as the food was decent Not going back read more

I ordered the Carne Asada. If you know me, you're probably saying 'typical'. The steak was lovely, but the sides were whatever. Could have used a larger portion of Guacamole. I want to be clear this review is NOT about the restaurant or the food, it is about Uncle Julio's catering. I called two locations for a catering order to be delivered & was directed to the catering number. Two days in a row several calls and still unable to speak to a person. Left voice mails and no call has been returned. This is by far the worst customer service catering experience I have ever had. How do they stay in business! We will be taking our catering business to a different catering seevidence. Update: someone did finally contact me but due to the delay of reaching someone our date was booked and all they could offer was a party package on line that offered lunch size portions. This did not work for us. We contacted a different local restaurant and were able to book our catering in 10 minutes in the phone. Again, we love Uncle Julio's but their catering operation needs lots of improvement. read more
