Wandered in on Valentines Day (in town for a family emergency) No reservations but no problem! Found a seat at the bar and we were quickly greeted. The staff was super welcoming-MIDWEST NICE! We started with spicy margaritas and ordered dinner. Hubs had carnitas tacos and a side of guac. I had Cochinitas Tacos. Both were delish. Nice large bar with plenty of seating.

Had some great drinks and adequate food at this local Mexican chain. It may not be authentic but they're not trying to be that to be honest. Uncle Julio's has a few locations including this one in Naperville. Each of these has a slightly moderated menu. They actually changed a lot of it and got rid of some great things. Coming in here in the evening we noticed it wasn't busy. It's one of those things that should have been a sign. They changed a lot of the menu too. Got rid of a lot of the favorites. Was a lot more things previously for vegetarians. It's about $8 for the cheapest margarita. This is called the Julio's Gold Rocks. This is made with agave house sour and Jose Cuervo Gold, which is pretty good stuff. Got us the Taco Plate. It's 2 tacos for $16, which sounds like a lot it seems. This comes with a pretty big salad though. Got the tacos with avocados. Then these were topped by things like cheese which I left off, and tomatoes. Came with a pretty big salad which was bigger than the tacos actually. The meal actually was pretty satisfying. Got to say it used to be better. It's not like the other locations, because they don't have a happy hour. The menu also used to be a lot better and bigger, so there's limited choices for vegans and vegetarians.

Uncle Julio's was next door to my hotel and I stopped in for lunch. I sat at the bar and was immediately brought water, chips and salsa. The restaurant had only been open for about 10 minutes when I arrived so the bartender was still setting things up. However, he was very attentive to me while multi-tasking. The salsa is some of the best salsa I've had at a restaurant in a long time. The flavors were layered and it was just enough spice. The chips were warm and fresh. My margarita was perfect after a long travel day before thanksgiving. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas which has a pablano sauce. They were so good. I could eat that pablano sauce by itself. I could tell the food is made in-house and they care about the quality that they serve. I'm not in the area often but Uncle Julio's will be my first stop the next time I'm near.

Yeah, 3 stars is spot on. Americanized-Mexican is the best description. Food is alright, but El Jefe margaritas is where it's at!

They're…read moredog-friendly and welcomed us onto the patio with our little Shorkie puppy, making it a perfect spot to enjoy the beautiful weather, have a few margaritas, and relax. We started with the complimentary house-made salsa and warm tortilla chips. The salsa was robust and incredibly flavorful with just the right amount of kick. The chips were fresh and crisp, with the perfect thickness and satisfying salty crunch that made it way too easy to keep reaching for another one. We also ordered the queso fundido with chorizo, which came out piping hot and bubbling in a cast-iron skillet with roasted peppers and plenty of chorizo. Rich, cheesy, and packed with flavor, it was definitely worth ordering for the table, especially scooped up with the warm tortillas and chips! For our mains, we had the birria tacos and Tampiqueña. The birria tacos were excellent; tender, juicy, full of rich, savory flavor, and even better dipped in their consommé. The Tampiqueña was equally impressive, with a perfectly cooked and well-seasoned steak, cheese enchilada, Mexican rice, refried beans, a wedge of fried cheese, and a generous scoop of freshly made guacamole. It was a substantial plate, but nothing felt like an afterthought; everything worked together, and the steak was the standout. My only gripe would be the margaritas; they were... fine. They could've used a much heavier pour of tequila. But credit where credit's due, they were ice-cold, refreshing, and went down very easily alongside the meal. Our server, Chris, was excellent throughout our visit. He was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and personable. Despite taking care of us and four other tables on the patio, he checked in at all the right times and made sure we always had what we needed without hovering or making us feel rushed. All-in, our bill was about $124 for two, including tax and a 22% tip. Considering the amount of food, multiple margaritas, and the overall experience, we felt the value was pretty reasonable for the Downtown Naperville area. Between the excellent food, great service, and being able to bring our puppy along, we really enjoyed our first visit to Fat Rosie's. The atmosphere was lively but relaxed, the portions were generous, and we left very happy with our choice. It was exactly the kind of laid-back patio dinner we were looking for, and we'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

BIEN HERE BEFORE As…read morepart of the Bien Trucha restaurant family, Quiubo serves some familiar flavors in downtown Naperville. The Water St area has a great variety of restaurants including Vasili's (modern Greek), Blue Sake (sushi), SixtyFour Wine Bar and Quiubo (modern Mexican).  Technically I ate from here once - takeout during covid - but it was so long ago it might as well not count.  Most recently, my wife and I came here for dinner on a Friday in late June and sat outside. The sangria ($14) was strong, I appreciated the extra touches like apple bitters and a float of bourbon.  My wife loved the Pa'Dentro ($15), a cocktail with tequila, passion fruit, and orange liqueur.  The mango habanero margarita ($15) was also mixed perfectly.  5/5 The guacamole ($11) was fresh and flavorful: avocado, tomatillo, onion, cilantro, serrano and lime.  My wife found it a bit too spicy (diced serrano adds more heat than a traditional jalapeno) but I enjoyed it despite a small-ish portion.  4/5 We also got a queso fundido de camaron ($16): melted chihuahua cheese, red onion and pan seared shrimp, with tortillas and cilantro-serrano sauce.  Pan searing the shrimp instead of grilling them is certainly a choice....but not one I'd make again.  2/5 Esquites ($8.50), on the other hand, were awesome: grilled corn, epazote butter, lemon aioli, cotija cheese, tajin.  One of the best we've tried in a long time, but for $9 we expected a lot more elote!  5/5 The birria tacos (2 for $11) were very good; my wife was right to point out they should've come with a cup of birria juice on the side.  The tacos al pastor (2 for $10) were delicious: marinated pork with pineapple, cilantro, onion and salsa morita.  Next time, more tacos!  4.5/5 For dessert we got flan ($10), a creamy vanilla custard with caramel, rompope and cookie crumbs.  It was a denser style of flan and tasted amazing, but I don't know how I feel about that random pile of cookie dust.  4/5 Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 3.5 It took way too long for a server to come over and take our order at the beginning.  Thankfully the food came out FAST!  The bar, on the other hand, was lagging big time.  We were more than halfway finished with dinner by the time our cocktails showed up. Also important note for cheapskates like me: they do not serve free chips & salsa.  Quiubo isn't that kind of place, so if you want salsa with chips, you'll have to pay for it. * TL;DR * Rest assured you can get the same high quality tacos and cocktails from the Bien Trucha group. We were really impressed with a couple items like the esquites/elotes and al pastor tacos, as well as the atmosphere inside.  The vibes outside were solid and even though service was slow at first, we'd love to come back.  I'd recommend Quiubo for sure.
