I think that Mexican restos have the same unfortunate reality as Chinese and many Indian joints: The worse the curb appeal, the better the food. Although it is prolly apocryphal, it is said Toulouse-Lautrec commented much the same about French restaurants. There is a sizable Latino population in our neck of the woods, thus there are many Mexican places to eat. MiRancho here falls under the category of my opening statement. It's (way) off the beaten path, and definitely not picturesque. But I have had too many good meals in places that aren't exactly the ritz, so I had to try MiRancho. The Yelps were encouraging. I was ordering from the menu board, then I saw a small sign announcing a "buffet". I asked the nice fellow behind the counter and he said it was on. Well. It was, again, not pretty, but the quality of what was on/in it was top-notch. Lotsa meats, all totally yum. Three soups, including a great Pozole. Proper garnishes and side dishes. The throw from the soft drink bubbler was excellent. Even from the buffet, everything tasted vibrant and fresh--Might be the best Mex food I've had in this area. At the right price, too. In the end, it was very "home-like" and I took the simple, yet clean surroundings as a statement of "We're about the food 100% here". A true "off-the path" gem! read more

I got a pastor torta and two pastor tacos and loved every bite. We ordered food inside and waited outside because we rode bikes to pick it up, and they walked outside to hand us our food and were kind and welcoming. I like to find my way off the main track restaurants that fit their neighborhood and are laid back and friendly. But mainly they have good food authentic food. Today was my first visit and it will not be my last. I had a torts with carnitas and the chopped steak and was impressed with the great flavor. While looking for a good local restaurant that served mexican food my husband and I chose this place. Driving up it is located in a tiny strip mall behind a gas station. Upon entering the place appeared much larger than I thought. It has a huge kitchen and we were greeted right away. My first impression was how clean the place was. After looking at the menu I had noticed they have just about everything here! Menudo and Pozole can be ordered by the half gallon or gallon. They have elotes, sopes, and much more. And for those who choose not to order mexican they have gyros, hamburgers and hot dogs. I had the Chilaquiles in Salsa Verde with scrambled eggs. It was cooked perfectly. My husband had the Tacos al Pastor and the lengua and cabeza tacos. The meat in the tacos were very tender and juicy. He ended up ordering an extra taco with chicharron. Very good. We will definitely be back. I can't wait to try their chile relleno and tamales. read more

If you ask my wife, this is the best Mexican food around. Possibly ever! She loves it. I think it's really good and very authentic but it comes up just a little short overall for me. However, I'd give them a 4.9 in stars if I could because what comes up short is their rice and beans. Both lack flavor. Now everything else on the menu is blow your mind good. The steak is absolutely perfect and the pastor is exactly how I like it. I can be a little picky, I'll admit. But they do a great job here. Friendly staff and a nice owner. It has a very humble feel. After living in Oswego for 5 years we discovered this little gem when our washing machine broke. While waiting for the part to come in we had to take our clothes to the laundromat near our house. That's when we discovered Mi Rancho. They are located in a small strip mall behind a gas station. Everything we've eaten here is wonderful. Very nice people. Nothing fancy which is fine with me. This place seems to have good Authentic Mexican Food. The menu is huge and has Mexican food often not seen in this area such as Chilaquiles and Elote, that are rather tasty! One Employee named Claudia has taken my order many times and made me and my family feel very welcome and appreciated. She answers my random food questions politely and with great patients. I must say, her friendly approach makes this place a stand out! If I ever open a business I'm going for the steal! ;-) And no, I don't know her, I was actually surprised to find out she was not part of the owner's family recently... Anyway... When the place that used to be here closed down we were really disappointed--Diaz Fast Food was tasty, inexpensive and authentic. This is a new restaurant in the same spot and it's definitely similar--delicious authentic Mexican food that's cheap and fast. You can eat-in or order 'to-go'. We've done both and the the quality and portions are the same. One warning, their table salsa that comes with the chips if you're eating in is pretty hot. They do Mexican food well and seem to be able to make whatever you'd like, whether it's on the menu or not. They do have odd things like hamburgers and gyros(?!) on the menu and one day I might order them from a sense of the absurd but for now I'm enjoying the sincronizadas, chicharrones and elote preparado they offer. They offer breakfast here but since they don't open until 9AM I'm not sure when we'd be by for breakfast. read more

Best cheese enchiladas. Tamales were too dry and I didn't like chunky meet. Prefer shredded pork. Fix uber eats menu. I ordered tacos and they were supposed to have cilantro and onion but I added cheese. Instead you omitted cilantro and onion and gave me only cheese. Despite the issues I liked the quality better than salsa verde and taco madre. This will likely be my next first choice when we do Mexican food. read more

The only thing I don't like about this spot, they are not open on Mondays. They have a big menu but I keep to some of the authentic food the tacos, nachos, burritos, tostadas and so on. I've tried every meat on the taco to find my favorite. I frequent this place a lot. I actually have a place that says to me, "the usual?". Was so happy to find a local mexican place that has good authentic mexican food! Each bite of my enchilada suiza was a delight! We also got Beef tacos and cheese quesadillas with mole sauce which was again terrific. No, there is no menu on line, you will have to go in to get one. I was hoping they had chili rellenos or chimichangas but not yet. I'm hoping soon as I'm sure it'll be great. I do agree they should focus more on mexican rather than all american food but what's good about that is they cater to picky kids who don't much like mexican. :) The girl on the phone was very nice and knowledgeable. I didn't like the food much at all. The ground beef in the tacos was small and dry, barely provided any flavor. A family member ordered a double cheeseburger that actually wasn't too bad, the meat again seemed overcooked and dried out but had enough veggies and condiments to make it acceptable. The food was great, but they charge a lot of extra for the hot sauce. I ask if if I can get a sauce for my burrito because I couldn't finish the half. The lady told me is an extra .50 (Expensive for a small little container). I also ask if I can have two different meat on my burrito, she told me it would be extra charge. Love this place! I dropped my son at soccer practice a couple months ago and literally drove around Oswego until I found an Authentic Mexican restaurant. Their tacos are like Bien Trucha in Geneva for 1/2 the price. You can tell it's family owned, the same guy and lady are here every time and treat me so well. They appreciate that I love their delicious tacos and chips and salsa. I don't believe anyone who would try to say something bad about this yummy, clean, but not fancy place. read more
