Steak fajitas are amazing, highly recommend. Their margaritas are good but generally are a bit too sweet for my taste. Giving it 3 stars because of service. Long time waiting for the servers to come to your table, big language barrier and had multiple mistakes with things we ordered. Eventually just got tired of trying to correct the mistakes. And double check your bill at the end of the night--two tables near us had things incorrectly added on and needed it fixed. TLDR: food is really good, service not so much read more

Where to begin? Suffice it to say we will never be back, and the franchise needs to look for a new restaurant manager. The restaurant is in visible disarray. My husband and I had an 8pm reservation on a Friday night, which we were on time for. We were given the option to be seated at a booth in the bar area, which we took. We were seated for 15 mins when my husband got up and had to ask for our server. Our table was not even set up and was sticky to the touch, so clearly a cursory wipe down. Finally, our server came over and laughed through her apology for the wait to even get acknowledged. We put in our order for a small chili con carne with chips and two drinks. We asked for straws for our drinks when they came, didn't get them and got them on the second refill. Chips and salsa arrived with small bowl of chili con carne which was actually a Velveeta-like cheese with tomatoes and no trace of chili. We took one or two bites and pushed it aside. We still were not given napkins or set ups to eat our food so asked for those AGAIN when we placed our order for fajitas for two. We had to remind our server again for napkins and utensils, at which point she dropped two stacks of cocktail napkins and still no silverware. Our food was delivered and looked second rate. Presentation over taste is clearly what this establishment prides itself on. Still no plates, dinner sized napkins, or utensils and no apology. We are now at 8:40 pm so about 40 mins into this ordeal from being seated. We waited another 10 minutes to 8:50pm as our meal temperature got colder and did not touch the entree. I kept getting up to look at the hostess podium, which was empty, in hopes of asking for the manager on duty. Finally, we were so irate that we just walked out of the restaurant, food untouched. No plates or utensils make it difficult to eat the meal getting cold in front of us. Thanks, Uncle Julio's, for comping us a tiny bowl of Velveeta substitute and tomato and two Diet Cokes. Probably the least you could do. We will never be back for obvious reasons. read more

UPDATE. Server added a tip to the credit card charge after we left the restaurant. We notified manager and he reversed the entire charge. I hope he fired her as that is stealing. Service is awful. Not just bad...really bad. Go to Taco Bell or Fuzzys before you go here. Server was not good from beginning. SLOW!!! Meals came out except for one person. We sat for ten minutes before we waved her dow. Manager apologized and said he would take the meal off and some more but server gave us bill without any discounts. We took someone out visiting from Hong Kong. We were totally embarrassed. read more

Not recommended. Poor service. Poor food. Waiter acted annoyed that we didn't order drinks. We also had a question about the menu. Waiter acted like we couldn't read. Food (once it finally arrived) was rather tasteless. read more

Just go to show you how people do not know authentic Mexican/Tex Mex food. The rice was cold, tasted like it was a day old. The corn tortillas they use were tasting like paper. They use a lot of hamburger vs. steak. The quality was that of Taco Bell.....wrong...Taco Bell is way better. The prices are way too high!! For the prices they charge, they give too small of proportions of food. Save your money! read more

this place and our experience was absolutely spectacular. amazing tacos. salsa is similar to chevhs. service was great. tacos were great as well. I can't recommend this place enough. well certainly be back. very pleasant experience. they were short staffed and manager was pitching in. read more

Don't order a scheduled pickup here and expect it to be on time. As I write this, they're almost 30 minutes past my pickup time. Unless you plan to spend part of your evening standing around waiting, I'd avoid this place for takeout. read more

The food was good and the drinks were great but overpriced. There are many Mexican restaurants in Stl that offer the same food but not as expensive. We enjoyed our time however, our server gave himself a tip at check out. The system they use for check out allowed for sneaky behavior. The customer should get to choose the tip. It shouldn't be automatic. It was just 2 of us and not a big party. We will not return. read more

The food was good but the service was not the best, it took a while for are food to come out and for our drinks to come. Once the food came out about 5 minutes later are appetizer came out. I would recommend if you have the patience. read more

Meh. Definitely not authentic. Meat seems frozen. Chips were thin and crumbly, almost stale. Table salsa was good. Cheese dip was extremely salty, to the point I could not eat it. Tortillas were served cold for the fajitas, not warm. Honestly, I was not impressed by anything. I most likely won't return nor recommend. read more

Went for Cinco de Mayo last night. Had a large group and we all thought the same thing: nice place, good food, watered down drinks! Had 3 margaritas a piece and all of us came out saying the same thing. So if you're going to this place bring your own tequila ! read more

This place did not live up to the hype. It has opened recently and several friends were excited to try it, so we made reservations for a recent Friday night. I like online reservation options, but it can be hard to find reservations for weekend nights since people just book "in case" and fill up spots weeks out. Uncle Julios was booked out for dinner for about the next 2 months, but I was able to snag a cancellation by checking back daily until a spot I wanted opened up. The building was lovely and I assume some of the hype is because Uncle Julios looks the part of a high end west county experience. It's a big space, well decorated, big bar area, and big patio. When the weather gets nicer it looks like they plan to open big glass garage doors to open part of the dining room to the patio. Very cool. The food didn't live up to the cool vibe of the decor. The queso and chips were good but we were "upsold" because the waiter brought us the large even though we didn't specify size and he didn't clarify. The guacamole was very fresh but not a lot of flavor and very garlicky. The free salsa with the chips & salsa on the table was not to my taste. It was a smoked tomato salsa with a strange aftertaste and no one in my party really liked it. The menu is heavy on fajitas & enchiladas, so most in my party ordered those. The kitchen had some trouble getting entrees out at the same time and several of us waited quite a while for our food while others sat with plates in front of them getting cold. My shrimp/chicken/steak combo fajitas were very bland and dry and I wished for better salsa to spice them up. One member of our party got the salmon and I think his was the favorite item ordered. Another person got the tex-mex sampler with enchiladas and a taco. The only thing they really liked was the taco, and the rest was ok but not great. The rice on all of the plates was overcooked and mushy, and the beans were interesting - like a bean soup rather than refried. I had the grapefruit margarita and although it was very tasty, it was very small for the price. Another friend got the spicy margarita and it was a better bargain (came with a shaker that she used to refill her tumbler 3 times) but by the end she couldn't drink it because it was too spicy to be comfortable to drink. I tried the regular margarita and it was pretty sour. The waiter didn't ask about salt and all of the margaritas came with salt on the rim which I didn't like (I don't like salt in/on my margarita). The only upside was that they only salt half of the rim so only a small amount of salt got into my drink. This place has a pretty face but not much else going on. I have had Mexican I enjoyed more at cheap roadside strip malls. If I ever go again, I will stick to drinks and apps on the patio. read more

Not the same. As a Texan, I can say that the food here is different than the locations in Texas. The menu is much smaller and they add way too much cheese. It's like they changed the recipe to cater to the Midwest. read more

Overpriced. Poorly presented food. Well served by a waiter that knew he was serving poopy food. Very disappointed and will not go back

I cannot believe this beautiful restaurant has such horrible food and worse service. From the beginning of our reservation it was awful. They served us very very warm water in a carafe, and decided to take 15 full minutes to bring us glasses. We asked 3 times-2 people. Then we ordered, they were out of so many things-including avocado, and 2 meals we ordered. We then get our food 45 min after ordering it. No manager, no sorry, and food that tasted awful. Never ever again will we be back!! And we live in Frontenac! read more

Reservations required -especially If you don't fit the Frontenac profile. Regular folks might want to avoid.

Called and said no wait and got there within minutes and they said 35 min! Ridiculous. And place was empty.

What a great addition to St Louis! Folks this is not your average Mexican restaurant! The food is super fresh and packed full of flavor. I was told that they're known for their fajitas and I can't recommend them enough! i had the shrimp fajitas and they were super juicy and flavorful! We celebrated my moms birthday and they brought out hot fresh churros for dessert with chocolate sauce. YUM! i also tried their fresh mango passion lemonade and I am obsessed! read more

Food very, very mediocre; salsa was runny; chips flavorless. we have had much better Tex-mex food for 1/2 the price!! try Canyon Cafe down the street for great food or Pueblo Solis- read more

Was dumb enough to give this place another chance - so don't be extra dumb and go here. Carry out order entered w pickup time of 7:45. We arrived at 7:55 pm. Guess what - not ready. Finally ready at 8:10 pm. I feel extra dumb that I gave this team a tip. Yahoo I got extra chips (sarcasm - chips are not worth the wait). If this place can't do carry out right bc of staffing issues the. Just stop doing it. 3rd bad experience / kept trying bc it's convenient. Order from El Indio instead - cheaper just as good and almost always right on time read more

Much better food at Taco Bell! Served wine in Margarita glass because "all the wine glasses were dirty..".

I like the food alot and I love the grapefruit margarita. The atmosphere is pretty great. The service just seems so spotty. Its the kinda place that has 6 employees hanging by the host station but only 3 waiters for the whole restaurant. Hope that part improves read more

The decor and ambiance are great. That's about all that impressed me about this restaurant. The menu is limited and definitely overpriced. Overpriced based on portion size and taste. The flavors were average to below average for Mexican food. Probably won't come here again since there are so many better options in my opinion. read more

I don't leave many reviews but this place along with Morgan's great attentive service definitely deserves more than 5 stars. The drinks were absolutely phenomenal and the food that we had was great. We had the chilie con queso and then split the shareable steak and chicken fajitas! Both were great! Definitely recommend sitting in the bar area and ask for Morgan! She was great! Only bummer on the night is I won't be able to come back because I am moving. read more

I meet the manager Brandon yesterday and he was made our dining experience beyond our expectations. He was working the host stand and seated us promptly and even made our first round of drinks. I've been to a few Uncle Julio's in other cities and was disappointed at this one. Service was awesome, but the quality of the food was below average. I don't even know where to begin. The drinks were awesome and the honey chipotle salmon was great. However, the service at the bar made me feel very uncomfortable and was exactly what the rumors said. When I first sat down I was here for 10mins before a bartender even acknowledged me and even then she informed the male bartender to take my order. 6 mins after I walked in a older guy walked in and he sat about 5 mins before he decided to leave even though he was acknowledged but mybe not the way he wanted to be. As I was sitting waiting on my food, there was 2 black men who walked to the bar and the male bartender asked them what they needed. When the male bartender walked away one of the female bartenders (I won't mention names even tho I did ask) whispered and told him that he needed to tell them they had to order from there server unless they have a tab (they were part of a party) so when the male bartender relayed the message the older guys said it was fine, they would start a tab, no problem. When the male bartender walked away to make thier drinks the same female bartender said something and called the manager over. So the manager walked over, listened and walked away. When he came back I assume he figured there was no problem so he walked away and the men were served. So now we are back to me. As i'm finishing my last drink there is a older white couple who sat right next to me and I be damned if the main bartender (short girl, dark hair) who continued to walk past me when I first sat down, immediately walked over and introduced herself and took there order with the biggest smile on her face. Mind you they are sitting RIGHT NEXT TO ME. There food was out in a matter of 6 mins. At this point I definitely felt some type of way so I asked her if she serves certain customers and she said 'no' and begin to give me this excuse of being busy. Meanwhile, i'm watching the same amount of receipts print out as they were when I first walked in. However, she proceeded to immediately serve the next caucasion couple that came and sat at the bar. They all had thier drinks and food in less than 10mins meanwhile it took 10mins before I was even acknowledged. I am not one to instantly pull the race card but being as the service I recieved and everything i've heard about other people of color experiences. I am convinced they are all true. Uncle Julio's you need to get this situation under control. No matter a customers color, everyone should be treated the same at all times! And I still left a $20 tip even though I felt unwelcomed read more
