I'm surprised to see the reviews. We ate here yesterday and everyone in our party thought it was amazing! The chips and salsa were so good, only made even better by the table side guac. We all ordered fajitas and loved them! We can't wait to come back again read more

Uncle Julio's - Table side guac service- absolutely delicious! - Tex-Mex Near Me - Frontenac, Missouri

The food is always amazing. We have never had an issue. However, the thing that wows us is the staff. The servers are polite, knowledgeable, and seem to like their guests. It is a rare occurrence to generally feel welcome. The management team is even better. Every time we come, they, also, seem to actually care about their guests. They chat with us, instead of just asking if we are okay. The little brunette one is always very sweet, and she never stops helping. I told her she needed roller skates lol. Great place all around. read more

have eaten at one in Dallas and loved it, so we wanted to try the one here. Really disappointed. It's very fancy and upscale inside. Service was ok. Portions were much smaller, barely enough sauces and salsas on main entrees, bland and boring. Steak fajitas weren't even cut through, or even cut properly. I am sticking with my favorite mom and pop, one and only Mexican places in town, for much tastier and yummier food, for a fraction of the price. You are paying for the Frontenac rent and the fancy interior. I'd rather have delicious food instead read more

This is the exact type of place you eat if you like to throw away money on the most boring Mexican food so you can see and be seen by your peers you don't even like. The recipes they use here certainly match the quality of the ingredients. read more

Horrible!! Our Server could have cared less if he waited on us we had to ask for everything place settings, menus, water and to finally to take our order. Food took a long time and when mine came out it was cold. Very young manager came over to see how things were told him my food was cold service had been ridiculous he said he was sorry and he would take my order off the bill, he never did! At that point I was so fed up and mad I didn't even look for him again! Your restaurant is a joke will never eat there again and this was our first time there. Definitely will never recommend it to anyone!!!! read more

I want this rests to do well. Sincerely. The food quality is inconsistent. The steak bowl I had 3 weeks ago was awesome. The fajitas my husband and I shared last week were below average. Queso - great. Drinks - great. Guacamole - flavorless. More on the fajitas - the shrimp was chewy. The plate seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp, even though we were served within 5 min of ordering. The service is TERRIBLE. You would think that sitting at the bar would be an advantage. It is not. The bartenders are too busy making drinks for servers to deliver, cleaning glassware and refilling chips to even notice when a glass is empty. This restaurant is in an affluent, geographically-desirable location. They need to get their act together. read more

Great food and atmosphere for all! The staff is always amazing, never had to ask to have our waiter/waitress come to the table!

Went for dinner on a Friday night. The place was clean and I rarely say that about restaurants as I'm super picky about cleanliness. I had the shrimp fajitas and they were excellent. The service was not great but not bad either. I think she was just a little stretched thin due to how busy it was. We will be back! read more

Reservation system is confusing and when I went for what I thought was my reservation the staff was not helpful and told me to ste aside. Not sure if I will try again. read more

Great Mexican food - great atmosphere - great service - highly recommend!! Will definitely visit again

Great restaurant, loved the cheese quesadilla, the drinks were out very quick. Would recommend

The chips were stale and not served warm. While the services was excellent, the chips could have been better.

Came here to celebrate a birthday. The vibe and style was very nice. Our server was nice enough and told us the menus were all virtual. Ordered the Julio's gold (the house margarita) which was woefully underwhelming. It barely tasted like it had any alcohol in it and was sickly sweet. My party ordered some fajitas & quesadillas. The food just lacked flavor. On top of that, the server was not attentive and I never had my water refilled. All together, poor service, expensive prices, & bland food is quite the combo. Despite the nice ambiance, I will unfortunately not be back read more

I have never had such a terrible experience at a restaurant and all I had, was water and free chips. We arrived for what we thought was "before the rush" at 5:20pm on a Saturday night. We found a spot at the bar and waited nearly 10 minutes to order a beer. We then repeatedly asked to order dinner and should have know. After our order was placed around 5:50 we watched as other patrons were clearly frustrated and waiting exceptionally long times as well. At 6:50 I finally asked the couple next to us when they ordered their food and they said 4:50- still without being served. We both decided to cancel our orders and leave and told multiple families on our way out to not stay, which lucky for them they left before they even sat. While I was sitting at the bar I read numerous reviews and wish I would have read them before we went. I also have watched as the business manager responds with a generic post to everyone saying the exact same thing. So I'll just continue to wait... for the same apology. read more

Not bad, but not great either, which is why this deserves 3 stars. I was there with a party last night and here's how I'd rate the following items (out of 10, with 10 being the best): service 9, atmosphere 9, El Jefe margarita 9, tableside guacamole 8, beans 3, rice 5, grilled shrimp 7, salsa and chips 5. Margarita seemed freshly made with fresh ingredients and so was the guacamole. However, the other dishes I mentioned did not seem fresh made. Beans did have poor flavor, rice was very clumped together with little flavor, grilled shrimp was good flavored, salsa tasted like similar to what one would buy out of a jar. In regards to portions, they were reasonable meaning not too much and not too little for most people, and just enough to fill a person up. The service was attentive and it was an upscale atmosphere with upscale clientele with all employees wearing masks. As for pricing, I would say that it's on average about 50 to 60% higher than the typical Mexican restaurant. Based on strictly value and quality of the meal for the pricing, I give it 2 out of 10. The menu also seems very limited compared to the typical Mexican restaurant. If you notice, where this place suffers is several of the food items, which is the main reason most people go to a restaurant, so my recommendation is just go here for the guac and margaritas. read more

Fairly underwhelming dinner experience. We arrived at the restaurant around 7pm, were told there would be a 30 minute wait and didn't get seated until after 8pm. Server was friendly when she finally came to our table but appeared to have way too many tables to serve (I get it, not her fault) After ordering, we waited about 50 minutes, then told the waitress to cancel our food order. There were also 2 tables behind us that had similar experiences and the manager was called over. Table right behind us said they had been waiting an hour and a half. Only reason this is not a 1 star review is because the blackberry margaritas that my daughters ordered were good. The manager did end up comp'ing the drinks by the way. Would not return or recommend unless you have a lot of time to wait. read more

Nice patio in the back. Good margaritas. The staff is very pleasant. We like to stop by and have drinks when shopping down on Main Street St. Charles. read more

Uncle Julio's has THE BEST grapefruit margarita, hands down!! So happy they added it to the menu full time. The service is great too! It's a great place for happy hour! read more

I think I found my new favorite Mexican restaurant in St. Louis! I loved the ambiance, super cute decor and romantic dim lighting here. This place is perfect for a date night. The service was so fast and friendly. We loved this place! The food is totally delicious! The thin and crispy chips and salsa were so good! I ordered the beef enchiladas and they add cheese queso on the enchiladas and it was so good! Any bad reviews are surprising to me. I will go back again, even this is not super close to me but worth the trip! I made a reservation a week in advance. They do tend to get busy. So plan early to get a table! read more

Our party including eight people I was immediately waited on and given a table without a reservation. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. This was everyone in my party first time at the restaurant the food was good and the Margaritas was exceptional! The atmosphere was nice but inside was too cold, I would suggest better inside temperature awareness as weather changes. Overall pleasant experience I will go back. read more

Got seated immediately. Had to ask for a menu. Had to ask for napkins. Had to ask for silverware. Twice. Food was good. Not exceptional, but what you would expect from a chain restaurant. There was no soap in the women's bathroom. That's gross. read more

Food was very good. Enchiladas were very tasty. Service good. I can recommend Uncle Julio's if you're ready for Tex-Mex.

Last minute change and we were so happy with our choice! Staff was over the top quick, polite and attentive! Food was very good! Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

1 star is generous. We had a reservation and were seated at a booth in the bar fairly quickly and it went down hill from there. Over 30 minutes to bring a beer and a margarita. Server told us that the cheese and onion enchiladas was no longer on the menu. When we showed it to him on the menu he seemed surprised and took our order. 20 minutes later he came by to ask if we were ready to order! We reminded him we had he left. Never asked if we wanted another drink and avoided walking by our table. After an hour I threw $20 on the table and left because we couldn't even get his attention to tell him to cancel the order and bring a check. We live in the area but this kind of crap service has been the norm for too long. We will not be back. read more

Was extremely bland only flavor I had Stuck on was the nasty salsa that tasted like a spicy ashtray Queso blanco was really only thing good I got I ordered the steak fajita bowl and came out flavorless and cool not quite cold but deff not fajita hot at all had no true flavor at all the rice even bland out the flavor if any to the steak and was pretty expensive would not recommend but one amazing thing was the waiter was great read more

Uncle Julio's - Ashtray salsa - Tex-Mex Near Me - Frontenac, Missouri

Would usually never go to a restaurant with only 3 Yelp stars, but went with a group of friends at their suggestion and to enjoy their company. My expectations were low, so I was not surprised. Only positives were that there was plenty of meat in the entree and it was edible. Service was awful. Food presentation was disgusting. Prices were certainly not in line with the food and the experience. Way too many decent-to-good local places for Mexican food, so no need to ever return to this chain. Do yourself a favor...don't go. read more

I was pleasantly surprised after reading the reviews. I found the prices quite reasonable for the level of service and atmosphere. I thought the food was well prepared and met my expectations. I had the Tex-Mex combo plate and it was flavorful. Regarding, the house made chips and salsa - The chips are a little too thin and the salsa doesn't have a lot of depth of flavor. I did try a spicier version and it improved the experience. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was served hot and drinks were kept full in a timely fashion. read more

Terrible. Very few tables when we got there had to wait 20 minutes- took forever to get drinks, they brought food but had no titillate so we had to make due with hard shells - took forever to get second drink - ended up having to get water refills myself. Would rather eat at a Taco Bell. read more

The food is good the music and decor is great. Service was fine. Our waiter I guess was busy and she forgot a few things, but eventually came with them. There were several waiters that helped us and the general manager came around. I really enjoyed and was pleasantly surprised by the fresh flour tortillas. We were able to watch them make it. Everyone loved their drinks, especially the Strawberry Margarita. My frozen sangria Margarita swirl was ok. I wouldn't get that again. The appetizers came out in a timely manner. We had the Queso and the guacamole and Lots of salsa and chips. The guac was fresh and chunky. It was a favorite. The queso was ok, nothing special doubt I'll get it again. Now the food! The best part that folks loves was the habanero bacon wrapped shrimp. The only real complaint with the food was the steak was a bit too chewy. If you're looking for a place that can have large parties and a nice ambiance come here. read more

Two is generous. Our first visit was mother's day with a reservation. We were seated promptly, and while it took a few minutes to get service, in the end the food, drinks and service were outstanding. (Good deal with their prices) We went again a few weeks later. The food was once again good, but we weren't quite as blown away. I then did take out a month or so later and the carnitas steak was terrifically undercooked and so chewy I had to throw it out. The cheese enchiladas and rice we're delicious and reheat wonderfully! We went again recently and were terrifically underwhelmed by everything. The main issue was the chips! They were so greasy they glistened and were lukewarm at best. I finally asked our waitress for some fresh ones that weren't so greasy. I'd almost bet she brought the same basket back with some extras on top and she just told us that's the way they are -- gross greasy and cool. Um no. On all of our previous visits they were hot, crispy and delicious. The food was once again underwhelming. At these prices, they shouldn't be hitting less then fifty percent. We won't be back. read more

Skip it, probably the worst dining experience we have had ever. tables elbow to elbow, so close we have to slide drinks and food down the table for our party of 6. So noisy even the waitress can't hear what you want. Limited menu, warm beer, poor service, zero training. Lot's of great local small family owned local options to patronize. Let this one wither and die. read more

Had early dinner today at Uncle Julio's Tex-Mex. My wife and I were excited to try this new Restaurant. We drove an hour to get there. Seating took a while, when the place was 70% empty. Service was terrible, I mean 45 minutes felt like hours. I had to go get my own salsa refills. When drinks came, they were in small glasses, for $15.50 each. Food was good but not good enough to come back. workers were walking back and forth and never carrying anything. Very unorganized Restaurant, as a result, it was at 50% capacity at 6:00 pm on a Saturday Night. Very nice decor for a Mexican Restaurant, maybe Chevy's will move in. read more

Reincarnation of the chilies at Lambert International Airport. Ironic right. It takes the people that work there longer to bring the drinks out than a high school drop out completing an algebra test. While you wait you can admire the garage doors that work as patio entrances. While trying to give the waitress my order the loud Mexican music in the background was quite the obstacle. The lack of effort from the employees should tell you something about the food. Disgusting, gross, and premade. Chicken is overly salted. Tortillas on the quesadilla were burnt more than my bread at Subway when I ask for double toasted. And sometimes you have to wait 10 minutes for the second half of your dish to come out. After you see the hefty price all the regrets of not going to taco Bell kick in. This authentic want-to-be is nothing more than a dehydrated chilies. read more

This place doesn't deserve to be open for long. We spent $142.00 on an order to go. We were missing a margarita, the chicken on an entree, undercooked shrimp and bacon, ingredients missing, and all with super small portions so that we all felt ripped off. Much of the food was tasteless and generic. We called the restaurant when we got home an discovered the errors and the solution was either to drive back 20 miles (no way) or speak to the manager. But the manager wasn't there on this Friday night (the busiest night) so no one was there to address customer issues. No qualifies manager means crappy food and service. What a wasted of time and money. read more

Service is fast, maybe too fast. We had heard that the guacamole appetizer and any shrimp entree were not to be missed. So we ordered placed our order accordingly. To our surprise, the quac and entrees came together and within minutes of ordering. The drinks arrived QUITE a bit later squelching our opportunity for an enjoyable pre-dinner visit with friends. 30 minutes past our reservation time they were clearing plates and pushing us to finish up- but our drinks were still full. While the food was good, the only thing remarkable enough to prompt a trip back any time soon was the grapefruit margarita. It was perfectly delightful. read more

Went last night for dinner, it was just ok. The chips and salsa were the best part of the meal. The food was very simple, almost bland. Ordered the taco salad with fajita chicken, fajita taco platter, kidsadilla with pulled chicken and guacamole. All were just ok. Our server Skylar was great! We will give it another shot as maybe it was an off night. read more

Definitely has potential but staff/management needs to get it together. Ordered guacamole for a table of 10 they didn't bring plates. When we asked for some we were told they didn't have any clean. Had to get our own silverware off other empty tables. Several of us (5-6) ordered fajitas they came out but only one of us got the plate with rice. No one got the sour cream/guac pico plate. And only 3-4 people got tortillas. By the time we we're ready to box everything up they finally brought out everything else. Would probably give it 2.5 stars because everything tasted good. But a $12 margarita should definitely come with better service. Our waitress was good and I wish I remembered her name because she tried to fix all of the problems as much as she could. Should be noted we were here early on a Tuesday when it was not busy. At one time there were almost more staff than customers! read more
