First time here. Zero Expectations. The dining in area is a bit small. May comfortably seat about 15 people. I ordered the half rack of ribs dinner with corn on the cob and potato salad as my sides with cornbread and a Sunkist Strawberry canned soda. Food was ready in about 10 minutes. I chose to dine in, and it was very clean with extra paper towels at every table. The ribs, absolutely amazing. Everything about them was delicious. Caramelized exterior, juicy interior. Meat was just excellent. Potato salad still had potato skins in em. Absolutely incredible. The cornbread, was incredible. Corn on the cob was whatever. Maybe a dab of butter would've hit the spot. Everything else was seriously so good. I'm definitely coming back. I'd highly recommend. read more

This food is so good. I'm from the south, so I'm picky about my Mac and cheese and fried chicken. I usually don't order it most places because they never get it right. I got fried chicken tenders for my first time trying this place (hard to mess up chicken tenders lol) and they are delicious and fresh. The flour is well seasoned and the chicken is tender and flavorful. I chose Mac and cheese and red beans and rice for my sides. Everything literally tastes homemade and they serve generous portions. It's not bland chicken with sauce over it like most places now are doing. The red beans and rice are super flavorful. It's WELL worth the price. I ordered on DoorDash and my food came HOT. We wanted to support a black owned business and satisfy our bbq craving at the same time. We ordered takeout and had our minds blown! The food here is incredible! We ordered a variety of things and everything was delicious. Like you don't know what to take a bite of next sort of delicious. We got links, baby back ribs, fried chicken along with Mac & cheese, potato salad, baked beans and fries. We paired it at home with a Pinot noir and we were so happy! This is some of the best bbq I've ever had and I've eaten a fair amount of 'Q in the south. I'm overjoyed to make this discovery just a few minutes away from my house. The chicken is tasty!!!!!!! Perfectly fried, and perfectly seasoned. The collards taste way too sweet The mac & cheese screams. I want to try something different. Definitely not the type of mac & cheese you bring to Thanksgiving dinner. But also, the mac & cheese is still pretty tasty. Not gonna lie The cornbread is elite !!!! I wish I would have gotten more. 4.5 stars for the food.... But this particular day I would give 1 STAR for the funky attitude!!! I drove 30 min to order a bbq/chicken dinner and apparently made the mistake of asking a simple question about something on the menu and was met with a yuck attitude from I'm guessing the cook? Tried to order the beef slab for $19.95 that is on the a la cart menu but the guy making the food waved me off rudely and said they don't have a $20 beef slab only a $25 order, I said that was fine and the wait wasn't to bad but when I got home and opened the container I was really disappointed it was just 3 ribs that barely had meat on them. Taste was great but price and amount of meat wasn't worth it. Might give them another chance in the future maybe. read more

My friends and I have been trying different BBQ spots all over the SFV for the past few months. First, this place doesn't open til noon, which is fine -- BUT one would think that the meats have been slow cooking since 5am and you are gonna get some great BBQ. Not the case. Reheated, fatty, brisket. And terribly awkward seating accommodations if you have more than 2 people. Only bench seating, no chairs on opposite side of table. Very underwhelming. read more

Put your hand in the air and give me a hallelujah! Sho' nuff off-the-hook d-e-licious. Had the combination plate with a side of coleslaw and a side of red beans and rice. All the right fixin's that hit the hunger spot with a bull's eye. The wait was less than 20 minutes and well worth it. There is not a BBQ restaurant in the San Fernando Valley that comes close. I ordered the Combo Plate Dinner. It is okay. You get a lot of food for the price. Everything is expensive these days. The Brisket was good. The fries were seasoned right and tasty. The BBQ Beans were really good. The BBQ sauce is sweet and tangy with a little bit of heat made the beans tasty. The Hot Links are good. The Chicken is ok. The BBQ Ribs were really disappointing. The rib meat was extremely tough. It was like chewing on jerky. The ribs need major improvement. Overall, the place seems very charming. read more

These guys have excellent customer service. I wanted beef ribs, wasn't sure how to order them online delivery, so my guy just asked for my name, kept an eye out for my order, and ensured I got beef ribs and not pork. Awesome!! On to the food- my family gobbled this and the sides up like no tomorrow. Had the fried fish, beef ribs, fried chicken. Mac cheese, baked beans. So good comfort food on a cold dark night. Ordered for takeout on 7/3/24. Expected it to be extremely busy since it was the day before the 4th. Was their only customer for the 20 to 30 minutes that I waited for them to cook and prepare my food. That should have been a sign. BBQ was okay. Ordered beef ribs and hot links. The young man who took my order said he only had baby back ribs; he said it as if I should have already known. Why three stars? The ribs were very tender, and I was given a good portion of each meat and the two sides. It's a small, clean restaurant. If you wanna be a BBQ Boss you'll have to get through the Uncle first! First thing you'll notice when you exit the car is that charred, breezy, loving smoky aura drawing you into its gravitational field. The second thing you'll notice (if you're from San Diego) is the Charger memorabilia. The 3rd thing is the commotion going on in the kitchen. There's some real wizardry happening in that smoky, charred coal cave. I dare not stare too long. Uncle's has only served to further solidify my observation that the simple BBQ joint will always emerge victorious. Having a small menu allows for the supreme focus on making a few things great instead many things average. Tri-Tip sammy for me and the Brisket sam for my better-half. The Brisk was a bit fatty for her but the Tri-Tip is the Mike Tyson Glove of Victory in the air. One can not underestimate bun quality in this battle. A+! Fries are wavy and spiced a bit like Red Robin but not overdone. The Peach Cobbler is conversation inducing and worth the trip alone. I imagine it bench-pressing a cool glob of French vanilla in the July heat. Pro-Tip: Wait times can take around 20-30mins, so call ahead if you can. If not, go check out the Brady Bunch House down the road while you wait. read more

The food was delicious! The lady on the phone was rude, she was short and seemed upset with us? She also told us cash only at the end of the call and hung up abruptly, which seems like something you should tell customers upfront especially since I did not have cash and had to go to an atm. Two guys walked in when we went to pick up our order without masks on and the owner quickly shut that down telling them to wear masks. read more

And, we waited a long time for the order so I thought I was going to get some great BBQ. Unfortunately I think that I got very old ribs that were reheated, if not microwaved, and doused with sauce. (Sauce was excellent). Remember, this is take out only so I didn't know how bad the ribs were until I got home. Tried a couple to see if I could find one I could eat; no luck; extremely over done and almost unchewable; all went into the trash. The $19 brisket sandwich was a mini bun with two, maybe three very small pieces of tasteless unseasoned dry brisket; they didn't even put sufficient sauce to at least try to hide how dry it was. No flavor in the sandwich at all; it was less than appetizer size and was about $20!! The cole slaw was mediocre, at best; when asked about the spice of the link I was told "it's only a little spicey." When I tried it at home is was scalding spicey hot and also not as described. My once 5 star review is now 1 star. I might go again in a few weeks and see if perhaps I was there on an off day. If so, I'll revise this review. However, proceed with caution!

Took the food to go, to prevent the intermittent rain from foiling more of our plans. It traveled well. And since I'm using our leftover bbq sauce on every other meal I cook, I'd say we successfully made do with our lunch substitute.

We were greeted and seated right away, but at the time, they were one chair short, so I ended up sitting on my hubby's lap for a good 25 minutes before a chair became available. We ordered wings, shrimp and grits, dirty rice, Mac n cheese, and collard greens. All were very delicious. I will definitely be back for the shrimp and grits.

I had the Chicken & Waffles. It all came out pretty quickly. The husband said his SmashBurger was fresh, flavorful and perfectly prepared. He loved the waffle fries. My chicken tenders were nicely fried, moist on the inside and seasoned well. The waffle was light and crisp. It all came together with the whipped butter and pure maple syrup -- so good! Thankfully we finally caved in because we've been sleeping on this place for years! It's located off of Lankershim Blvd & Academy Way, basically next to the Laemmle Noho 7 and the Saban Media Center. Bruxie was kind of hard to gauge on how to order - there's a walk-up window for ordering and pick-up orders, but employees can also walk right up to you and place your order for you. You can also order online ahead, so yeah slightly confusing but as long as you put your order in you're golden. They have four big tables outside along with counter seating on the sidewalk. If it gets too hot or cold, they also have seating inside an old train car that is purely counters only. We sat inside the train car, but the only caveat is that people are constantly going in/out and they sometimes leave the door open. They also have a water station inside the train car if you want to cool off. My wife and I both ordered the Kickin' "Nashville" Hot Chicken Sandwich and we shared the Loaded Waffle-Cut Fries. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time - if you're dining there, the employees bring out your food wherever you are and provide plastic utensils along with sauces. The hot chicken sandos live up to their namesake, packing quite a kick! The loaded waffle fries hit the spot. If you're in NoHo looking for some good chicken & waffles, Bruxie will satisfy! We can't wait to come back and try more of their menu! They're open late too if you have some late night cravings (they close at midnight Thurs, Fri & Sat). There's street parking or you can park at the garage of the Saban Media Center.
