The ambiance is casual, but nice, for a pizzeria. I had been there before for the pizza which was excellent. The slice is so big, you literally had to cut it in two for 2 regular size slices. Authentic New York pizza...in New Jersey! This time I decided to try the pasta. I had a very personable waitress, Aylin, who highly recommended the pesto. I had it with grilled chicken and she was right, it was absolutely delicious. It wasn't too saucy, but incredibly flavorful. Gave this new Pizza Place 3 tries. Here are the results First time we went, was on a cold and rainy Sunday in April. Place was packed, and they only had 2 slices available for purchase; Fig & Bacon. Sold !! Took em to go, with 2 cold sodas. My Lord. What a stellar slice. Second time we had the NY Style Cheese with a side of wings. Delivery. The pizza resembled those $1.50 slice shops you see in NYC, usually next to a parking garage. But not as good. As for the wings...Stick with the pizza. Third time was on a Friday around 5:30. Placed an order online, {their website}. One Margherita pie, to go. It was wonderful. Thin crust, bright and vibrant flavor. Perfect cheese to sauce ratio. They even through in some extra sauce. I hate to say it but this pizza and wings are just bad. Like inedible bad. It looks like it should be good but it's awful. The pizza is heavy and weird. I can't even describe it. But it's legitimately the worst pizza I've ever eaten. I was sad immediately after the first bite. I made it through half a slice and gave up. I pivoted to the wings but they were also pretty terrible. Way over cooked and just salty as heck and objectively bad. I tried one more bite from a different slice, chewed it and eventually just spit it out into the trash can. I would normally just not say anything because I don't want to hurt a small business but this food is really really bad and I would have been better off setting my money on fire. Given how expensive this food is I feel like it's my duty to save others in the community from wasting their money too. I'm super bummed. Was really hoping for a legit pizza place in Edgewater. The slice was around $6 and I plan to try several flavors. The bacon and fig jam was so good. I love that the bacon is beef as many do not eat pork. I came to this spot with my daughter and wife. It's a small intimate shop but man, the service was great, but the food... amazing! My wife had the "Uncle Al" pizza along with 6 buffalo wings. She said it was amazing. My daughter and I had the pasta. Let me tell you... I will be coming back! When you have a 2 year old asking for more pasta, that's all you need to know. A really great pizza spot addition! The pizza itself was thin crust, crispy, and held its own with the toppings. I tried the uncle Al's and the margherita pizza and both were so delicious. All of the ingredients tasted so fresh and the dough texture was my favorite part. The pies are huge so i feel like im getting my money's worth. We also tried their baked wings - garlic parm and lemon pepper hot honey. Loved how crispy but not greasy the wings were. The lemon pepper was the favorite out of the two but could use more of the lemon flavor. The sourdough garlic knots had that amazing texture, and very crispy but lacked the garlicky butter taste. Was more just sourdough knots with marinara sauce. Would love to go back to try their pasta. The place has a couple of tables inside and 2 tables outside. I ordered one of their signature pizzas. The signature pie for delivery only comes in one size....enormous. The box was the size of a bistro table. It cost a small fortune, as far as I was concerned, but the place was highly recommended in the reviews and the description of the pizza sounded spectacular. The crust was allegedly sourdough. I've been making two loaves of sourdough every 10 days for the past 25 years. Sourdough has flavor and substance. This crust had neither. The toppings did not make up for the crust. I felt I did not get value for money. It was ice cold by the time I got it, which was the driver's fault, not the restaurant, but my overall impression was that despite the hype, the pizza was very disappointing. read more

I was really looking forward to trying Uncle Al's in Edgewater, and unfortunately, I left disappointed. As someone who bakes sourdough at home and also has a favorite sourdough pizza spot in Brooklyn, I was excited to finally have something closer to home. I ordered a whole pie, half cheese and half pepperoni. While it looked visually appealing, it lacked the distinct sourdough flavor I was expecting. It honestly made me question whether it was true sourdough, and for a pizza over $30, I can't justify the price for what felt like a standard pie. With that being said, the wings were excellent. I ordered 6 lemon pepper hot honey and 6 garlic parmesan, and they were crispy, hot, and very flavorful, definitely a 10/10 and something I would recommend on its own. Overall, I would probably come back just for the wings, but I don't think I would return for the pizza. read more
