Fumo has been a staple for me for many years, and it truly remains a neighborhood gem. It is rare to find a spot that maintains such high standards over time, but they continue to exceed expectations. The pizzas are, quite simply, perfection. The crust is always "just right"- crispy, fresh, and consistently delicious. Beyond the food, I am so happy to note that the evening ambiance has evolved beautifully. The music is no longer as loud as it once was; it's now at a volume that allows for great conversation while still maintaining a vibrant energy. What really makes Fumo shine is the service and the attention to detail. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the service is nothing short of exceptional every single time. I also have to mention the personal touches that add so much character to the space - the real candles in crystal-like holders create a warm, elegant atmosphere that does not go unrecognized. The entire restaurant is always very clean and welcoming. If I had one small "wish list" item, it would be to see some tap beers added to the menu - I would absolutely love to enjoy a Peroni on draft with my meal! Came here to celebrate my daughter's birthday with a party of 7 (3 kids), and it was such a great experience from start to finish. My daughter ordered a lemon drop and OMG--it was so good. I had a Pinot Grigio and was happy they still had happy hour going. The kids had iced tea, and the staff was kind enough to make a raspberry lemonade for them, which they loved. I also really appreciate when restaurants notice kids and automatically bring cups with covers--small detail, but it makes a difference. For food, I ordered the rotativo bolognese--WOW. So much meat and packed with flavor. My mom had the burger and especially loved the truffle fries. The kids got spicy calamari with sauce (I don't usually like seafood, but it honestly looked amazing). The other adults had chicken penne alla vodka and chicken parm with penne, both enjoyed. The kids also ordered sausage and pepperoni pizza, and we accidentally ended up with a margarita pizza too--no complaints there! Service was elite--attentive, friendly, and made the birthday feel special. The place itself is nice and cozy, perfect for date night or family outings. Let me tell you something about Fumo...they almost never miss. When thinking about where to go for brunch, dinner or a drink (whatever) it's hard not to consider Fumo cause you just know it's going to be good so why risk going anywhere else. For Valentine's Day I made that mistake, immediately regretted it after the appetizer at the other place and made my way to Fumo. While I always go to the Harlem location the UWS was closer and we luckily got seated right away. Lighting was perfect, vibes were chill and music was hitting (as always cause IYKYK--at this point drop the playlist). Service killed it. Food and drinks hit the spot--as always. Delicious pastas! I do wish the pasta was homemade, however, all of our dishes were perfectly al dente and the sauces were amazing! We tried the spaghetti vongole, penne vodka, and the penne funghi. The funghi one was my favorite! It had lots of mushrooms and plenty of sauce. I wish the vodka penne had more sauce. I liked the basil in the vodka penne though. I wasn't that impressed with the spaghetti vongole... it had a lot of garlic which was nice... I typically do not love a spaghetti noodle shape. They bring bread to start which was okay- it did the job. We also ordered a kale caesar to start which was tasty. I liked the focaccia croutons. Portions are very large! I also love their 12$ pasta deal monday and sundays- pretty hard to beat in NYC. The restaurant itself is rather loud though. Perhaps not the best place for a conversation. ANOTHER EXCELLENT chain brunch restaurant in the city. As I've ventured more and more on the UWS of late, I've noticed how there seems to be many more brunch restaurants that are part of chains then I realized...AND they serve dang good food! I had been eyeing Fumo's menu for quite a while, so when I set up a catch up brunch with some friends, I was really looking forward to seeing how good it actually was. We met up on an ordinary winter Saturday for a 12pm reservation and, when we arrived, there were plenty of tables and seats. However, by around 1-1:30, this pretty sizable, nicely decorated restaurant was jammed packed to the gills. The restaurant serves mostly Italian food (e.g. personal pizza pies, pastas), but they also serve your typical brunch items (e.g. steak and eggs, eggs benedict, French toast, brunch burger) on Saturdays as well. We ended up ordering a Rigatoni Bolognese for our kids to share, while my wife got the steak and eggs and I went with the Roni Pizza. Plain and simple, ALL OF IT was absolutely delicious. The Rigatoni Bolognese was cooked perfectly with lots of beef and meat sauce mixed into the rigatoni. My wife's steak and eggs were as you would expect steak and eggs to be with the steak being pretty tender. As for my Roni Pizza, I was absolutely shocked at how amazingly good it was. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought it was served at a highly rated artisan pizzeria! The pizza had tons of delicious roni cups, chunks of ground sausage and hot cherry peppers scattered. Some of the best pizza I've had in a long, long time. The service was solid throughout as our waiters and busboys were on top of things with removing empty plates and refilling our friends' bottomless mimosa glasses. I've been to other locations and i must say this one is by far my favorite when, when it comes to service and attentiveness. We walked in on a Monday after 6:30pm and it was busy but we were seated right away thankfully. Started off with a chilled glass of prosecco and they brought over some bread which is always great . For the main entree we did the baked ziti , and i will say this place has one of the best in nyc that i have had. The sauce is perfect not to acidic and they perfect amount of cheese and pasta ratio. Plus you'll definitely have leftovers for the next day. Also orders the buffalo pizza with light blue cheese and it was perfect. A neighborhood favorite for many years, but the quality of service and staffing has deteriorated over the past 12-18 months. We used to love this place, and the food is still very good, actually still a decent value. $120 bill (b4 tax &tip) for 1 drink, 2 apps, and 3 entrees so it's not cheap either. But what used to feel like a more authentic Italian staff has changed to a much more transactional and rushed environment. The experience now is unpleasant, and they are inconsiderate. Let peeve: whisking away your plate while others are still eating, or watching you like hawks to swoop in and take your plate away just as you take your last bite. Also they kept the doors wide open at 9:45pm on a cold evening for over 10 mins to move tables and chairs in from another location. Drafty and totally rude given people are still eating close to the front door. When mentioned to the hostess she was not at all a concerned about the waste of heat or the comfort of her guests. That first impression set the tone for the entire night. While we waited at the bar, the drinks were phenomenal perfectly crafted and beautifully presented. I had the vegan pizza and I was pleasantly surprised!! I thought the Daiya cheese would make it taste basic, but the cook on the pizza was really enjoyable and the cashew pesto is DELICIOUS. Really great portion and super tasty I also highly recommend the cocktail "Lucy." The gin, pineapple, and aperol combo is so delicious!! They are a little pricey ($14), but worth it once in a while. The service was super friendly and quick! Maybe within 15 minutes of being seated, the food was already being served. Also we were able to be seated immediately, which was nice on a Saturday night! The sauce was otherwise perfectly fine, and came with a healthy layer of cheese. The penne funghi was good - pasta had a nice bite to it, and the sauce was creamy and savory without being too rich and overwhelming. Wow! Just Wow! It was my first time here, my daughter has been asking me to eat there with her for about a week. I finally made my way there this morning for breakfast. I had the French toast, a side of medium well done eggs and bacon. I also had two glasses of orange juice. They brought out a basket of bread which I ate with olive oil. I was really impressed. The service was as good as the food. I have worked in the restaurant business for about 20 years. Service like this was phenomenal. The waiter had support from the busser and I assume manager. The bread was a bit old, I wish it was served hot but I'm glad they had it regardless to soak up the sauces from various pastas. - Spaghetti Carbonara - The reason why I wanted to try this place out was because online they said that the carbonara was one of the best in the city. It was very far from good to be honest, Olio E Piu is miles ahead. The spaghetti pasta didn't really go with the carbonara and it honestly wasn't "oily" enough. Would not order this dish.
