A great stop for a quick bite! Fun flavors! We tried corn and mushroom- both were good though I preferred the mushroom slice. I wished the corn pizza had some elote seasoning? or at least something to make it a bit more interesting... Still solid pizza though! Plentiful seating and quick service. They warm your slices up for you in the oven which made these slices particularly comforting especially given the rainy weather when we arrived. Overall, I would return!

This spot recently popped up right across from the iconic Tom's Restaurant, the diner made famous by its appearance in the TV show Friends. They offer outdoor seating in good weather, and after walking by a few times I finally decided to give them a try. There are already a couple of long-standing pizza shops in that area that have been there for decades and have loyal followings. They are both very good, so I was curious to see if Upside Pizza could compete. The price for a regular slice was average for the neighborhood. Before I even walked in, something caught my attention. The storefront looks almost identical to Tom's. The color scheme and the lightbulb-style signage look so similar that it made me wonder if they share the same owners or if the design was intentionally modeled after Tom's to draw attention from the steady flow of people who stop to take photos there. It was a smooth and clever move either way. Inside, the shop is on the smaller side but it has a decent amount of seating and a nice oven setup. In good weather they put additional tables outside, so there is plenty of space to sit. As for the pizza, I tried a regular slice first because that is the baseline for me. It looked fine but it did not blow me away. It tasted a bit too basic, especially compared to the other established spots down the block. They do offer a wide variety of specialty slices that look visually appealing, so I would be open to giving them another try. Usually if the toppings and specialty options are strong, that can make up for a simple regular slice. The staff was okay. Nothing remarkable, but nothing negative either. Overall I had an average experience and I might return to explore their other options, but the regular slice did not stand out for me.

Upside Pizza Cheese Slice - Good, but really small for the price

Checked out this Morningside Heights location of Upside. As at the other locations, their basic cheese slice was good, but compared to other places in this neighborhood, like the great "old school" Koronet, it was really small for the price.

I am a huge Upside fan so I was so excited to see it open up near Columbia! I'm not sure if this location is as delicious as the Williamsburg one. However, it's still great pizza with unique toppings. It comes HOT. Great lunch option in Morningside Heights!

Awesome pizza! Came here for a quick bite with a friend after having walked by multiple times. The guy at the counter ended up giving us a slice for free. Thinest crust pizza I've ever had in this city and it was really good. Nice flavor, char, and taste without being overly greasy. Definitely coming back when I'm the area.

I decided to try this new pizza shop that opened near my job. I ordered two plain slices and a soda. It was very busy in the restaurant but the service was quick. I ate my pizza and while it was well prepared and presentable it was very salty. I've never eaten a pizza that was so salty. I'm willing to go back and try other pizza options on the menu but I hope they're not salty as well.

I was very excited to try this new pizza place near Columbia's campus since my coworker had great things to say about it! It is a chain pizza place that has many other locations in NYC. The pizza was delicious and the interior looked very clean and modern. They were also very quick with getting my pizza heated up and given to me!

Great NY style pizza, thin with good char. No flop on the fold... by the slice or whole pie. Recommended.

Finally a good alternative to Koronet's corner on the Morningside pizza market. Eclectic pie selection, spacious interior.

Solid slice joint, and reasonably priced. Good addition for when I don't want to deal with the hassle at Mama's Too.

Best gluten-free pizza I have ever had. [Full Stop]…read more I've had a lot of GF pizza. I've tried to come here in the past -- but it didn't work out. I ordered via Uber Eats this time, and MAN -- I was blown away. I honestly thought that they had screwed up and sent me a gluten version. I checked the order and receipt. It was so good -- the crust so chewy with bite -- but light and airy and tight -- the cheese and toppings all great and fresh and delicious. It tasted like an awesome piece of NYC pizza. I was so happy. I did some Claude sleuthing -- and think I'm onto their magic with the crust -- and am excitedly going to experiment in my home kitchen in the coming weeks (Neapolitan oven, be damned!).

Located at 309 West 50th Street in New York City's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, the casual eatery has an extensive list of pizzas. Don Antonio has over 30 types of Neapolitan pizzas, and the menu is a little bit daunting at first due to so many options, but even the pickiest eater will find something they'll want to eat. To top that off, Caporuscio recently debuted a brand new pizza tasting menu that features a curated lineup of never-before-seen pizza napoletana, and seven varieties of pizza fritta (fried pizza). Lastly, the entire pizza menu is now available gluten-free. With vast offerings, they are ambitious, and every dish is outstanding.

RIGHT BY THE DOOR. Do people not realize that putting a bar near a door on a freezing cold night benefits no one? Good thing I did not order alcohol or I would have froze to death. Seriously, none of the pies stood out in grand memory. All I can think of is, well, nothing. Nothing positive anyway. The names of the pies are funny, and the staff is friendly, but besides that, the quality of the food for lack of a better word, dare I say it, sucks. Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered their Chicken Parmesan. It was the Hail Mary pass that unfortunately did not connect. The cutlets are overcooked and dry, and the red sauce cooked with it has minimal tomato flavor. At least the spaghetti is cooked to a nice al dente and mellow garlic butter flavor, but like the sauce cooked in, it is also minimal. Part of the problem I feel is they are trying to go for a vibe that has a New York and modern feel. It does not work. Stay true to one or the other. Or at least look at other business models. I will use another pizzeria in Bushwick that exemplifies it perfectly. It is a hipster pizzeria in a hipster neighborhood. Through balance, it creates an ambiance both welcoming and warm without losing any of its Bushwick character. It does this by not beating you over the head with hipster vibes, just enough to let you know that you are in Bushwick. The band Franz Ferdinand was playing as I was wrapping up. Rather than take the pizza out, I suggest you throw it out. Overall pizza rating: 1.7/5

The first thing you notice is the main bar wall, with its exposed centuries-old brick that has survived every bit of chaos this city could throw at it. It's subtly backlit from with a warm, amber glow that highlights every single historic groove and imperfection, making the whole room look like it's breathing. I have to say the centerpiece of the entire narrow room is the bar itself, and let me tell you, it is an absolute stunner of a contrast. Instead of the usual dark, sticky tavern wood, they've dropped in a long, continuous slab of pristine, elegantly smooth white stone. It glows under the soft lighting like a block of polished marble. There are no strobe lights and no obnoxious, skull-rattling bass in this joint. Instead, the room is wrapped in a blanket of incredibly chill music that matches the pulse of the room perfectly. It's just loud enough to drown out the noise in your own head, but quiet enough that you don't have to scream over the smooth white counter to be heard. People aren't here to be seen on TikTok; they're here to disappear for an hour or three. You slide into a chair, order a proper Old Fashioned from a bartender who doesn't rush the pour, and watch the ice melt against the amber-lit brick. It's the ultimate underground exhale--a perfect, narrow slice of peace in a city that never shuts up. Cheers!
