Really unprofessional experience today. I was scheduled for an appointment at 8:30am. Thursday it was changed to 8am (totally fine) morning of the appointment it was changed to 8:15am (again, not a big deal) I arrive at the salon at 8:15am- text my stylist that I've arrived. One minute later she texts me that she forgot the keys to the salon and won't be able to take me until 2pm. Most unprofessional experience I've had in the service industry and disappointing since this place had such great reviews. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

I want to thank Audra not only for saving my hair, but taking me on a same day appointment right before an important weekend event I had. My previous perm (with another hair salon) permed my hair completely flat... so I found Uncaged and reached out. I dont know much about hair care and have never done a perm before this instance in my life, and wasn't aware of the chemicals in the solutions and how it could burn my hair off and all that crazy stuff. Wherever my stylist goes, I will follow! Brittan is my gal and her service is top notch. She always makes sure I'm satisfied with the end result no matter how light or dark I go and keeps tabs on at-home care to ensure longevity and integrity of my hair. The care goes beyond the chair, which I am very appreciative of. When it was time for me to come in for a root touch-up, it was my first time at her new location. It's a bit confusing to find, but after the first visit, it's much easier to navigate to. Located on the corner of 17th Street and Orange, it looks small from the outside, but appearances are deceiving! Upon entry, the salon is super bright and poppin'. The floor to ceiling windows allow for natural lighting to come through and the salon was bustling with peeps on the Saturday morning I arrived. The salon is incredibly immaculate and the stations are so cute! They have hooks to hang your purse and a place for coats as well. As for service, I've been going blonde for a long time, but felt it was time for a change. I was ready to return to the dark side. Muahaha...but really, blonde was getting a little too high maintenance for me and my hair was breaking at random lengths, even with routine maintenance! I have fine hair, so they can be pretty delicate :( We decided to tone it down for the first session before pulling my base color all the way through on my most recent visit. Because my ends are much more porous from the blonde, only time will tell how the washout will look, but so far, I love the changes in my hair. Not to mention, I usually learn something new with every visit, such as gaining volume I never knew my hair could hold to product recommendations that are essential to hair growth/management (hair masks, dry shampoo, primer, hairspray and shampoo/conditioners). I came to this salon back in early January of 2017 because they took walk-ins and I had a day off work. I was moving out of town and had been itching for a completely new hair do. I was super nervous, but the staff made me feel welcomed. They offer refreshments while you wait. I had a medium haircut with highlights and I let them know I wanted a pixie cut. I came here to correct an unwanted golden color job on curly, thick, waist long hair and Amanda Raney absolutely delivered! I recently had my hair done with an end goal of icy cool blonde and walked out with a warm yellow gold hue that wasn't even close. After shopping around I was able to get a consult and appointment with Amanda within a week of contacting the salon. She was super knowledgeable and she was able to explain what went wrong and how to fix it while keeping my hair healthy. Essentially, I was in for a full color correction. I showed her some pictures of my end goal and left the rest up to her. Amanda did an amazing job and didn't rush to finish even though she was working on me for a little over 4 and a half hours! I really appreciated this because I know I've got a lot of hair to work with and it can't be easy. Her service was reasonably priced and she didn't try to upcharge me 100+ due to my long hair like some. She was good conversation and very personable throughout. I was given great product suggestions without being pressured into buying them, for which I was so grateful. The results were better than I imagined I could get in just one session. I was in a pinch to get my hair done because my usual blow out place was fully booked and my stylist didn't show up. So I came here and they were very accommodating. The team was friendly, conscientious about making sure you were comfortable and the end results were beautiful. I left there feeling confident and attractive. She took all the time I needed for a color correction , including deep conditioning , and she had me looking like new again . I've lived in Costa Mesa for about 6 years and have had to drive a minimum of 20 miles to get the right treatment when it comes to grooming my hair, beard and facial skin. I decided to give "Uncaged" a try after hearing the big hype about the new barbers in town. And I have one thing to say, THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I was welcomed and introduced to Charlie, a very well prepped younger gentlemen with immaculate communication and customer service skills. We discussed my plans for a BEARD TRIM & LINEUP as well as a light FADE on the hair with additional of TEXTURE on top. I was also introduced to Mike who's the new WOMEN HAIR STYLIST in the salon, whom also greeted me kindly and chitchatted with me while I was getting prepped for the service. I watched him do wonders with this young girl's long curls. What they do is a real rare talent. 35 minutes later ... After getting caught up in the authentic humorous convos of barber shops that left me laughing hard, I look in the mirror once Charlie was done and I saw my hair and beard looking better than they've ever have. Upon my approval of the CUT, TRIM and LINEUP, I was then sat down for a WASH and SCRUB and finally some jell and aftershave. A great sense of relief and happiness took over and my confidence in myself and with the service was spot on. The salon is really clean and professional with a good hint of that "fun" and "enjoyable" atmosphere. If you want the best, then you have to check them out. Ill be back next week guys! read more
