Every time I come into the office, the front desk attendants are personable, professional, and warm. They are responsive to my questions. The nursing staff here, particularly Alice, has been so incredibly warm and supportive. I equally feel heard and listened to by Dr. Topper. He takes me and my concerns seriously and provides a lot of information in order to equip me with the tools needed to advocate for myself as a patient. He always allows time for my questions and takes them seriously. I would definitely recommend this practice to my family and friends and anyone looking for a doctor who listens and provides patient-centered care.

I've seen a few of the doctors, but Dr. Heather is my primary and she's awesome. I got my husband to come here also; everyone loves him and treats him like family. It's easy to park on this quieter downtown street, walk right in and be seen. I never have a long wait, and I always feel taken care of, even when I've been pretty sick. I know they have staff turnover, which they can't help, so as long as I can, I'll keep coming back.

I transferred to Avance Oberlin Road years ago from a long-term caregiver office when that long term office was operating without a doctor on staff. I have never been disappointed with the care I have received at the Oberlin care office. Any miss-communication over chart or billing were quickly and efficiently AND COMPASSIONATELY resolved. It is our, the patient, responsibility to check the information which any office maintains, more important when this is a medical office. Sometimes correction takes a little time. Patience and kindness. All the staff at Oberlin Avance, from front desk to blood draw, to x-ray to my doctors, AND my doctor referrals, have been knowledgeable, responsive, kind and efficient. I am 82 years old and obviously have had many different doctors in my lifetime. In all that time I have had but the one experience which caused me to leave a practice. BUT, I have medical family members so I am not starry eyed about my medical care. Ask Dr. Delbono how critical I can be if I don't agree with a wording in chart! I have had excellent care here, from Dr. Delbono and from backup when she was not available. I will be extremely unhappy if a necessary age-related relocation causes me to need to change doctor's office. I do not want to go anywhere else. The doctors and PAs aren't the problem--they're professional and capable. It's the system they operate within. It's profit-driven, demands unnecessary follow-ups, uses platforms that constantly malfunction, and if you find a doctor you like, don't get attached. They leave. Here's what pushed me over the edge: I submitted a prescription refill request a week ago, a few days before I ran out. I've sent multiple messages and left voicemails. When I finally reached someone today, I got attitude and zero accountability. My provider had been out for over a week with no coverage plan. Nobody was monitoring her messages or prescription requests. No one communicated this. My voicemails went unreturned. When I called to ask what was happening, I was told: "I'm not responsible for anyone else. It's not my problem." That's Avance Care in a nutshell.

I retired from the NC State Highway Patrol after 30 years and I was always the one giving assistance to persons in need and not accustomed to being the needy one. On Friday morning I awoke early to begin my yard work in an effort to avoid the heat of the day. While trimming bushes I was stung by a yellow jacket bee. I didn't think much about it as I have been stung many times in my life and after the initial pain, all is well after the swelling subsides. I completed my yard work after approximately 1 hour and started towards the house. I became weak, labored breathing and broke out in hives. I got in the house I tried to drink some water and after each drink I had severe indigestion and my lips and mouth became numb. My wife drove me to WakeMed Emergency in Garner, NC. When I arrived at the ER, I was third in line to register and I explained to the registrar I had suffered a bee sting and was going to sit down as I was feeling faint and unsteady. Another registrar heard my conversation and immediately took my information. I proceeded to the waiting area and had just sat down when a male RN called my name and as I walking into the ER room he asked me to remove my face mask and immediately recognized I was experiencing an anaphylactic event. Within a minute the male RN had administered an EPYPEN injection to my upper thigh and another RN began an IV administering anti inflammatory and allergy medications. Another RN began heart, blood pressure and pulse monitoring and Dr. Bleyer was by my side checking my vitals and examined and questioning me. After 5 hours of monitored care I was released. There is no doubt that these gifted professionals from the registrar to nurses and Dr. Bleyer who understood the severity of anaphylactic shock and the importance of medical triage saved my life. I am deeply indebted to each of you who helped and looked after me. The compassion and standard of care I received is truly second to none. Each of you are appreciated and prayers of thanksgiving are lifted for each of you. Again a sincere thank you as I have more time to spend with my family and my new 12 day old grandson born at Wake Med Raleigh. Wake Med is #1 in my book and we as Garner residents are so fortunate to have a first class Wake Med Emergency facility. May God bless Wake Med.

I visited this location today. My 15 year old daughter passed out so we immediately took her up to…read morethe ER. While waiting in the lobby I called a loved one and she was praying for my daughter and I. The triage nurse calls my daughters name. We walk into the triage room. I'm standing there quiet, phone to my ear and the nurse tells my day to be weighed. She looks at me...and rudely says I can't be on my phone. I shake my head ok. We immediately sit in the chairs next to her desk. I hang up my call. Look at the nurse and say, it's been a lot today..can you just be kind, have compassion...my daughter passed out...I have surgery in less then 24 hrs. Tears are welling up. She says to me. Are you talking about me. I say yes. Please just be kind. She then says to me get out. Get up and get out. Demands I leave. Calls the security in to have me removed!!!! I ask to speak to a mgr...no one says a thing. Security tells me I got to go. Then tells me I can't be in there with my daughter to which I immediately tell him he is wrong. My daughter is under age. I then ask for a mgr. He goes to get one but another nurse calls my daughter. I speak to a mgr when things calm. She basically tells me the nurse was asking me to wait outside so someone else could help me.....not cool. I will be filing multiple complaints to make sure Lisa the triage nurse understands how NOT to act when people are in need. Not ok. I honestly don't know if I will be back. I'll more than likely drive far for better care. 100% believe it was fueled by racism!!!
