OMG! Hit the jackpot! The foodie jackpot at least. This fairly new restaurant has hit its stride. Good quality ingredients? Check. Great value for the money? Check. Quick and attentive server? Check. Talented chef? Check. Healthier food choices that are just as yummy? Check, check, and check. Had 3 tacos for lunch today. All yummy. The al pastor taco was on a street taco-sized tortilla. No sauce but not dry or greasy. Tender meat was piled high and totally worth the money. The veggie taco was on a slightly bigger sized tortilla but it was still piled high with well seasoned, al dente veggies and black beans. The grilled fish taco was on the same sized tortilla. Was especially skeptical about this because the fish portion was tiny. Was fooled because it was hiding under a mound of shredded cabbage. Was so wrong. Portion was just right. Flavor exploded with the combo of eating all components in a single bite. But to earn a perfect 5 stars, Un Taco Mas also has a perfect combo of other factors. The cooks in the kitchen are truly talented. Veggies were crisp tender. Sauces had some heat but not so much they burn out your tastebuds. Front of the house was just as awesome. The server was attentive and friendly but not obsequious. He anticipated every need and checked in multiple times throughout the meal. If forced to nitpick, a few minor suggestions. The chips, were fresh but not greasy but a little over salted. Also, the atmosphere, while festive, was a little dark. Change the walls from a dark burnt red to a more sunny orange. And maybe down the road replace the totally opaque outdoor patio blinds to slightly more sheer blinds. Oh, and bring back the sweet plantains. But these are minor. Tasty food is the driving factor. Am now obsessed. Will definitely return sooner rather than later to check out the rest of the revamped menu. read more

Un Taco Mas is on one end of a large plaza near the freeway, super convenient for a quick meal. I didn't know what to expect from their tacos, but the tortilla was lightly fried! Really liked the crispy crunch with their generous meat portion. I got the carnitas ($4) and just one was pretty filling! Loved the variety of sauces they offered as well. Plenty of parking available, seating options inside and outside, not super crowded. An employee was manning the register alone but was super nice and accommodating. Un Taco Mas is a new place near Starbucks. My hats off to the owner. They were moderately busy Friday at 2PM. This was our first time and also noticed another party that was also new. All of us liked what we had. This is a family run business making it a special place for us. We started with two carnitas tacos and liked the flavors. Their tacos are the smaller street-size and are soft but heated on the grill. Presentation was excellent, sorry no picture today. As noted by another review, the Pescado tostada is ceviche. The server gladly substituted fried fish for the ceviche. The end product, as shown, was excellent. They do a good job purchasing tortillas. They also make their own chips from the tortillas. For a new restaurant, their menu is quite extensive. We recommend giving them a try. read more

Dianne is so nice and gave the best customer service! Enchiladas Rojas had a delicious red sauce. I ordered Al Pastor, Carnitas and shredded chicken. Al Pastor was soft and tender and had great flavor. Carnitas were cooked to death so couldn't chew that. Shredded chicken was moist and a great choice. The plates or platillos come with rice and beans and no complaints with the refried beans. Really good size plate especially for one person. Small tables inside but a great patio to sit outside. I'm excited to go back and try more of what they offer. The only downside were the carnitas meat and the prices are pretty high for a family outing. Flan was a good dessert although didn't need the cheap chocolate sauce on top. I'd take it plain with that whipped cream. Kids had the super quesadilla and they loved it. read more

The food is fresh . Service is friendly. Location has lots of parking. The place is like your eating at a dinner at home , very tiny but gets the job done. The fact that there is no lunch specials , taco Tuesday I don't think makes ordering a little tricky and confusing . For instance on paper the menu said shrimp tostada. I think though it would be a hot dish but this is basically cold shrimp ceviche. Seafood .Which was the opposite of what I wanted . Un Taco Mas opened up recently in San Ramon's Gateway Center off Alcosta. For a relatively small restaurant, they have a sizable menu of Mexican cuisine, including birria, seafood-centric rice and bean plates, and like a half dozen varieties of soups, ranging from classic pozole to a seven-seafood soup. This place has potential, but during our lunch it felt like a soft opening: 1. None of the soups were available. Yikes, the wife really wanted to try the 7 Seafood soup. 2. The menu above the order counter was all on Spanish with no pictures. They do have a nice menu book in English with lots of pictures and detailed descriptions. 3. The kitchen seemed overwhelmed with Doordash orders and food came out slowly for the handful of dine-in customers. 4. I thought I ordered grilled fish la plancha but we got a grilled shrimp over onions. The wife was hungry and decided to eat it. Shrimp were overcooked, rubbery, and under-seasoned. All the wonderful flavors went to the onions (2 stars) 5. My Chicken Mole was a bit better - two large boneless chicken breasts that were on the dry side. However their mole was excellent with sweet, sacory, and mildly spicy overtones. (3.5 - 4 stars). Willing to come back in the future when the full menu is available and the kitchen is able to keep up with orders. Fish and octopus feature heavily in many dishes so we'd probably try those next. My husband and I had a great lunch at Un Taco Mas today. I ordered the plate with two tacos and rice and beans. The rice and beans were some of the best I have ever had. My tacos were excellent. They were moist and piping hot when they were delivered to my table. When we walked in the owner was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. I thought the prices were very fair. We ate inside for this visit. However, I did see a very large outdoor eating patio. When I come back, I will definitely try the outdoor patio. If you are looking for a new casual Mexican restaurant with authentic Mexican food and a great vibe. I highly recommend Un Taco Mas. It is right on the corner when you pull into the shopping center. This place earns a strong 4.5 stars from me. Right away, the green salsa with the chips tells you everything you need to know. Fresh cilantro floating through it, bright flavor, and then that hidden surprise -- little pieces of avocado mixed in. Absolutely addictive. One of those salsas where you keep saying "just one more chip" and suddenly the basket is gone. The michelada? Bravo. Frosted cold glass, fresh shrimp still steaming when it hits the table, clean presentation, balanced flavor, and made with actual care instead of just dumping ingredients together. Easily one of the best micheladas I've had in a long time. Simple, fresh, and executed the right way. Now the tacos. First off: the freshness of the meat stands out immediately. Honestly some of the freshest I've had recently -- and I grew up eating at Los Pericos since I was a kid after haircuts next door with Randy and Chief. Lately though, Los Pericos has slipped a bit on consistency and quality, and this spot reminded me what fresh really tastes like again. A couple honest notes because I actually want this place to win: * The carnitas were slightly dry. * The carne asada needs a little more seasoning and marinade depth. Right now it tastes like fresh meat in a tortilla instead of that classic Mexican asada flavor profile. The salsa ends up carrying the taco instead of complementing it. But even with that, the foundation here is strong. You can feel the effort. The ingredients are fresh, the plating is thoughtful, and the food feels cared for. I genuinely hope they stay in town because the restaurant business is brutal -- and trust me, I know how hard this industry is. Super excited for this new taqueria!! I came on Tuesday . Got a birria taco and a pescado(fish taco) both were EXCELLENT! Flavors on point!! I loved them so much went bk on Wednesday!! Grabbed another fish taco, a carnitas and a grilled pollo!! I can't express enough the amazing flavors, everything was so fresh! Their salsa are definitely homemade! I'm officially a regular! I dislike businesses that nickel and dime customers while still providing bad service. We ordered four entrees and were given a small plate of chips. When we asked for more since the food took over 45 minutes to come out, the woman working there said they were extra. We agreed to pay, but then waited another 30 minutes just to receive about eight chips--mind you, there were four adults at our table. The food itself was a disaster: The nachos only had five small pieces of carne asada. The burrito was mostly just beans. The flautas were huge and actually hurt my mom's jaw. To top it all off, our drinks didn't arrive until after our meal, even though we had already been waiting so long. It is definitely not worth the price, and the service is not great. My Mother let me know when this restaurant first opened and said she wanted to try it out. We were in the neighborhood on July 4th and drove by to see if it was open, it was. We both ended up ordering enchiladas so I can't comment on a variety of items, but we both enjoyed our meal and would be willing to go back. We are trying a new taqueria each Tuesday and this was a nice surpriseThey are counter service but the front of house person also does table service so grab a seat and be served. She was friendly and attentive. Tacos were $4 each we had carnitas, pastor & grilled chicken. My fav was the chicken, hubby always orders carnitas but I didn't try his. The chips tasted homemade and the red salsa was perfect. Do not order online from this restaurant. I scheduled a pickup order for the exact time I'd arrive after work, but when I got there, they told me my food had been sitting out for an HOUR. Apparently, their system doesn't account for scheduled pickup times, so they make the food right away. This was especially disappointing since I ordered fish tacos, which clearly don't hold well that long. Even worse, they didn't offer to remake it--just to microwave it. Tried this place for the first time, and won't be back. Overall the food was bland and lacking flavor. The prices are high as well, which would be ok if the taste was better. Super burrito with carne asada might as well have been a bean and rice burrito. Sadly, the chips we ordered with the $9 chips and guac were completely stale. After a disappointing first experience we tried again and were pleasantly surprised! If you've read my previous reviews on Mexican restaurants you will know I'm super picky. I prefer So-Cal taquerias and Un Taco Mas delivered. I had a carne asada taco and tostada de camaron. The carne asada was perfectly seasoned and not hella greasy. My taco never got soggy which is appreciated. The ceviche was super fresh, generous portion and well balanced. Nothing was overly salty like most places nearby. My husband got the red enchiladas and they were delicious, the sauce was just spicy enough and rice is often overlooked, the grains were nice, fluffy and separated. If you love waiting for your food, this is the place for you. Came here to try this new place out, a little early before the dinner rush. 25 minute wait for the tacos to get to the table. And only a few people got their food. 37 minute wait for the burrito to be served, and everyone else at the table had just about finished their meal already. Quality of food is meaningless after waiting that long. In a nutshell anyway: meh. Nice and friendly staff, although you need to ask for most things (water, the drinks we ordered, more chips) and then they were responsive. Sad to say, won't be back. read more

I always get their quesadillas which are really good, I really enjoy them but the only issue is have is that there is never enough sour cream or guacamole, they put enough for about 2 bites and that's it! I understand avocado is expensive, I work in food myself, but it would be nice to get a little more to go with the 3 quesadillas that I get. read more

I had tried this place earlier but never got the chance to review it since it wasn't on yelp yet! The first time I got the quesabirrias and it was phenomenal. I didn't eat it there but the whole car ride home it was still so fresh! I was very impressed by this. The second time I went I got the regular burrito but with the option of birria as my meat.
