    Un Dimanche à Paris is definitely an original concept. The multi-level address consists of a restaurant, shop, bar and cooking school that all share one thing in common: CHOCOLATE! Why someone hasn't done this type of homage to one of the greatest pleasures on the planet before is beyond me. Tucked away on a cobble stoned passageway near Odéon the space is chic and classy, but not cold. On the advice of a friend I recently checked out the 2nd floor bar-lounge to test out the cocktails by the super friendly bartender, Mikael, who makes all of his cocktails to measure. After asking about any allergies, likes or dislikes, he whips up a special cocktail just for you then asks you to try and identify any of the ingredients. It definitely makes for interesting taste-test fun, especially since all of his drinks have chocolate in some form another in them, but so slightly dosed that you can hardly taste it at all. So how much will one of these couture chocolate cocktails costs you? About 15 E a pop! You've been warned.

    I stopped by this restaurant only because I had purchased chocolate from the shop earlier that day and was eager to ensure that my investment in 15 euros was worth the hole in my wallet. The vibe of the place was totally different than most of the places I have come across in Paris. It's more modern and sleek, rather than old and quaint. The chairs are green! One of the most encouraging things about this place was the curt nature of the menu - there were only about 15 things on the savory menu (entree, plat principal) and six or so on the dessert menu. I ordered the Prawn dish, which had six beautifully butterflied king shrimp in a white chocolate reduction. They were sitting on top of a bed of paella (wild and basmati rice, peas, onion, sun dried tomatoes, lemon zest, etc) that was texturally satisfying and sliced well. I finished every last bit of that dish. Dessert was a MUST at a chocolate house so I ordered "Le Lacté" which was a hazelnut/chocolate cake/mousse dessert that blew my mind. There was also salted brown caramel inside. It was perfectly moist but not too sweet. I also tried the salted caramel eclair - great but not amazing. The "Lacté" was the star of the night. Our waiter was also funny, witty, and charismatic.

    The BEST éclairs ever. Salted caramel was my absolute favorite and my husband favored the chocolate one. We definitely recommend coming here for dessert when you're in Paris - you won't regret it!

    Wonderful. Exceptional dinner. Excellent service. Friendly atmosphere. Would recommend this charming culinary experience to anyone visiting Paris. Especially (but not exclusively) chocolate lovers will appreciate their innovative use of cocoa in many of their savory dishes. White chocolate with pollock? What a revelation. I'm going back for seconds:)

    This place had lots of pastries as well as chocolates and hot chocolate. We tried the candied chocolate-covered orange peels. I enjoyed them, but they do have a very strong citrus flavor- more than most orange peels I have had. This shop also carries little chocolate balls (about the size of Sixlets chocolates) which are designed to be cooked with savory foods. For example, we sampled Rosemary, Cilantro, Pink Peppercorn, and Fennel chocolates. They all tasted good and were a mix of sweet chocolate with savory spices, but it didn't convince me to buy any for actual cooking. These were all we tried so I cannot speak to the rest of the desserts at this shop. I think it could be worth a visit for some of their interesting sweets as well as the adorable location tucked into a cobblestone alley, but we had better chocolate elsewhere in Paris.

    Way too pricey. Kinda rude to visitors. Food is either too salty or has too much cheese (for a light dish!). Only good thing is dessert.

However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. I enjoyed the mini mushroom raviolis and delicious Grand Marnier soufflé. The plat was somewhat odd because the chorizo chunks were really strong flavored which overpowered the scallops. I ate one chorizo chunk and pushed the rest aside. The scallops were cooked perfectly but not seasoned. The service was gruff/quite brief with dishes dropped by assistants. My biggest complaint was the stressful ambiance during the meal. It was freezing outside. The door constantly opened and new patrons came in hovering over diners in my room. Luckily I was not closer to the door and didn't have anyone over me. For ~170 Euros, the food was good but the experience was not.
