Prices are ok, comparable to most ice cream places. The service was very good! I had a sundae with chocolate ice cream and hot fudge and wet walnuts. The ice cream was pretty hard at first and I thought the spoon was gonna break. BF had a chocolate malt milkshake. The only downsides were, they definitely needed to clean the place, there was a huge dead bee under the bench seat and they don't have garbage cans inside? That kind of threw me off. Loved the name of this ice cream shop! It sits at the corner of a beautiful street of shops, buildings, and artwork. Our family decided to try out a local New Jersey we head about on Yelp and ordered from Ummm Ice Cream as our dessert. You can choose a wide variety of toppings and they also serve slushies called water ice. The kids and I split a sundae with oreo ice cream and topped with more oreos. Wasn't a huge fan of this place the second time around..... last time I was here was about a year ago and it seemed to have changed its appearance a lot! There wasn't anyone else in there when me and my party of 5 came in and when we looked around the decor was outdated and a lot of the area was dirty by what looked to be the waffle making area. I like that everything is made in the store from scratch- but this store sure needs an update and a good cleaning to make it more presentable. I'm sure if they made some changes they would have some more customers. I ended up getting a cherry water ice and it was good but nothing to brag about. My sister in law got a milkshake and she just said it was okay nothing special and my nephew ordered a small mint chocolate chip in a dish. I discovered this place just driving over to have dinner at Brickwall Tavern just around the corner. My friend and I decided to stop for dessert. I was really intrigued by the retro decor; this place is just so cute! Funky colored walls on the inside yet a very old fashioned design. I was surprised they had many unique ice cream options at an older establishment. They make their own waffle cones which is pretty cool. My sundae was good, but nothing to write home about. Great amount of fudge. There is outdoor seating but it was drizzling and getting pretty dark out. We were really happy to have found a local spot on such a cute little street. UMMMM...YEAH! How have I never been here!? I've lived in the area (5-10 mins away) my whole life. Not only had I never heard of it, but I frequent places right around the corner from it. When you walk in the door you are hit with delicious smells of homemade waffle cones...the Ice cream, also homemade, was incredible as well. The ice cream is very bland. The smell of them making waffle cones seems like a lure, to make you feel like you're in a cozy place. That is until you get your ice cream. Forget cookie dough, there's literally no cookie dough in there. When I mentioned this to the girls behind the counter, they oh sorry, that happens! Stopped by on a Sunday night with the family to grab some dessert. The place was really busy (unexpected) around 8:30ish. It took me a bit to figure out what I wanted to order and decided on a single scoop of the cherry vanilla in a waffle cone. The waffle cones looked so good I had to get one. Mmm it was very good. Delicious, creamy, and had the perfect cherry flavor. I also tried some of the flavors that the other family members got, OMC (squared) which was oreo mint chocolate chip, mounds, banana berry (?) and they were also all fantastic. We have visited this location but today we stopped in during the K9 bike/car show. It was around 3:30 and the line was out of the door, the inside was very hot, and two girlies hustled to get everyone their ice cream however it just wasn't enough. One complaint was they were out of a lot of flavors and they do not have soft serve. The location is cool as you can walk down to the river and watch the ships go by. Daggonit Ummm, I'm bummed that our ice cream experience was so bad. A year or so ago, we had a good experience so when company came to town (which is actually two towns over), we chose Ummm to help support the Burlington economy. It's such a sweet little town. We were there in the evening with the temps in the low 80s. 5 people ordered from the outside table (we weren't allowed in, ice cream deserves a look, whatever). The shake was like thick milk, the waffle cone was like a rock, the vanilla ice cream (even though we asked) was like soup, the coke float was runny, and the mini split (1/4 of a banana) that the waitress insisted came with the usual toppings when I pointed out the menu read one topping, ending up costing me $8.95 for extra toppings!! and a soupy mess with a hunt for the banana bit. Yes, I know, we should have complained, sent it all back, and moved on but we were with company and didn't want to be "those people" so we sucked it up. But the reality is that when the waitress warned us against one flavor of ice cream being too soft and we clarified that our choices would not be too soft, she didn't know what she was talking about. We mentioned it to her and she blamed it on the heat but heat was not the problem - dark and in the 80s. Poor quality control, low standards, and an unwillingness to shut down until they could gain control of their quality was the problem. I'm sorry we won't be back. Would not recommend. I think this is the first bad review I've ever written, I'm really not one to complain, but this situation really annoyed me. We went here for ice cream for my husband's birthday. I got a chocolate malt milkshake and it was good, my husband got the Cookie Monster ice cream which is supposed to have cookie dough and chunks of cookies in it. The ice cream was freezer burned and there was literally not one piece of cookie or dough in it. The ice cream itself tasted terrible so after we each tasted a spoonful we brought it back and complained. My husband was really nice about it and the teenager working was really rude and said we had eaten the ice cream so she couldn't do anything for us. We each had tasted a spoonful that is all, then we we had looked through it for cookie dough and there wasn't any. I will admit I got a little defensive at this point cause I'm sorry but selling bad ice cream then not offering to do anything about it is terrible customer service. After some back and forth they finally said they would give us another scoop of ice cream, a different flavor which turned out to also also freezer burned so we threw it out and left. How anyone can rate this place below 5 stars is a mystery to me. Sure, you can find cheaper ice cream elsewhere, but I can't guarantee it will be of the same quality as the ingredients and love infused in this culinary wonder. I came here on an impromptu "tour de Burlington county" with some girlfriends on a Sunday Funday, trying all the favorite spots of our designated Jersey-native. This was our last stop of the day, and probably my favorite. High Street in Burlington is as cute as can be, but as many times as I've driven up and down, I've never noticed UMMM's situated right smack in the middle of High St. in a cute corner shop. When you walk in, the shop itself is clean, bright, and welcoming with an old-timey vibe. Plenty of seating inside and out if you so desire. It reminded me a lot of the Franklin Fountain without all the chaos of downtown Philly. There were about 20+ different flavors to choose from, many unique like Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Chocolate Malt. I chose one of their homemade waffle cones with a scoop of peanut butter swirl ice cream topped with hot fudge, homemade whipped cream, and a cherry. The portion was MASSIVE. My eyes about popped out of my head. This was not your average ice cream cone. I guess if I had one complaint it would be this - massive portions. Like. You can get one of their big homemade waffle cones (which I highly recommend) but these are not for the faint hearted. The only other option, if you're going cone, is a small sugar cone. There's no in-between. I was so full, and I could have easily shared my dessert with another person. And I only asked for one scoop - thank GOD! I can't imagine what two "scoops" would have looked like. My bill came to $6 due to 50 cent charge for using a card for less than $10. Sure, it was pricey, but it was SO worth it! If you fell the need to treat yourself, I'd highly suggest UMMM. read more

This old-timey ice cream parlor cannot be beat. I have had almost every flavor and have yet to encounter a "miss." My personal fave, "Rosanna Banana Dana" float with chocolate chips. The price seems high for ice cream when you first look at the menu but one taste and you know this isn't your average scoop! Most everyone in Burlington County knows where I live once I tell them how close it is to this ice cream parlor. It's a landmark and well deserving of its reputation! Not great. I should have been wary given that there were so few reviews! I ventured off my route on my way from DC to NY to stop at UMMM. The place was swarming with high school kids outside. They were literally the only people on the whole block in what was a pretty dead street. I walked in and ordered vanilla ice cream with m&ms. You know when you taste your ice cream and the consistency is like sand? You can taste the little granules and it almost seems like you need to chew it in order to get it to go down. Yeah, that's this stuff. Perhaps the vanilla was old or something, but I won't return to find out if it's a fluke. My wife and I walked into the store @ 730pm there was another couple behind us. We let them go ahead of us, while we decided. They were being served by a employee. There were 4 other employees standing by the cash register. We went around the couple who were being sereved to place our order. We were told we had to order at the bring. Mind you these 4 employees were not busy, there was no one else in the store. Needless to say we left. We are now at Vincent's in Mount Holly were the staff is much more friendlier and welcoming. Located right along the Delaware River, situated in a town that looks like it's from the movie My Girl, they make their own ice cream, waffle cones and cherry soda! Families love it. As other reviewers have noted, this place looks great. It's a little slice of Americana and a time gone by. They have oodles of flavors of ice cream to choose from, it would just be a bit more helpful if the staff actually knew about the flavors, could explain them, and could actually deliver what has been ordered. We were a party of seven and were seated promptly. Some of us wanted sundaes, some shakes, some malts. We asked our server, who it became readily apparent was new on the job, about some of the flavors. She shrugged her shoulders and said, "I'm really not sure what is in that one." I looked her between the eyes and asked if she could find someway to find out. She turned over her shoulder and asked someone behind the counter who kind of shrugged, too, and said it was basically like another flavor and that "they wouldn't know the difference anywhow." Huh? What did that mean? She arrived back at the table a bit later with her tray of desserts and started out with, "Uh, this one looks like it has a brown ice cream and some white ice cream. Did anyone order chocolate and vanilla?" This continued through all seven items as she played a guessing game about what each item was (and she was dead wrong on all of them). She delivered a sundae to me, when I ordered a shake. She brought a "shake" back and said, "Here's your strawberry shake" to which I responded that I had ordered the sweet cherry. "Oh yeah. That's what it is. I think." Dear God. Well, it was the sweet cherry, but it was as thin as milk and most certainly was not a shake. We went on Saturday night, and it wasn't very busy, but we waited nearly 20 minutes for our ice cream, even though there were 4 people on duty. We didn't have a complicated order. Mine - a dish of chocolate hazelnut with caramel - was melted when it finally arrived, which the waitress said was because of the caramel. It wasn't hot caramel - so, yeah, right. They just let it sit for way too long. I'm not so picky that I'd refuse to eat my ice cream, of course, but actual ice cream instead of chocolate hazelnut soup would have been nicer. My boyfriend ordered a waffle cone with mint chocolate chip ice cream, and the cone did not taste fresh, and the ice cream was definitely artificially flavored. So unfair, given the old timey decor and the expectations associated with that era! The shop is filled with vintage touches and is absolutely adorable.
