It's super warm this afternoon and I stopped in to Ume Tea for something cold and refreshing. First, somehow the door was locked and some customers let me in. Then, I ordered off the tablet (as is preferred) and most of the drinks were sold out. I ordered a strawberry matcha slush small in a special cup. Several people came in and ordered, it was quite warm in the shop. My drink took a few minutes and the flavor was good but my drink was not cold like I was expecting. There was nothing icy or slush-like about it. Boba was chewy and good. This is a super cute shop, fun. If I'm in the area I'll try again.

My friend was visiting and after brunch we went to Ume Tea. Neither one of us has visited before and it was overall enjoyable. Ume Tea is Califiornia based predominately selling boba/bubble tea, fruit tea, slushies and a decent sized snack menu. The interior is a pink explosion with pink being the main color scheme. It's not a sit down place since there is limited seating inside for up to 4-5 max. The wall of plushies is a nice spot for pics and if you spring extra for the Bunny surprise plushie cup, any one of those plushies on the wall might be yours! The surprise plushie cup is like a happy meal for all ages however I would sub the word "meal" for a drink. If that's the case I'm totally fine with rephrasing it as a "happy drink" because towards the bottom third of the cup, your surprise plushie toy awaits you through the tear out window. The plushie and packaging it comes in is uber cute. You can preorder online or purchase on site through their Ipad menu. I don't believe they take cash here. When going in expect a younger crowd as we found it to be pretty popular with Northwestern students. Either way it was fun and you've got to go at least once for the experience.

After seeing the Chicago location go viral on social, when the North Shore opened, it was a no brainer that I needed to make a stop. On the outside, it doesn't look much different from any other boba shop, but the moment you step in, you're easily escaped into a Japanese shop. The pink decorations, the bunnies and more. For my first time here, I had no idea what to try but I went with one of their favorites/popular drinks the Mango Pomelo Sago. The flavors were not too sweet, (they did ask for how sweet we wanted it, and I left it up to the barista, she had recommended it be sweetened). The drink was nice and creamy, and had great flavor. I also ordered a side of the popcorn chicken. When asked how spicy I'd like it, I went with the least spicy option. The chicken was super flavorful and juicy. All in all I had a great experience, I will need to come back and try other flavors of boba soon.

Yummy and fun! My Yelp buddy and I decided to try this place after brunch and I'm happy that we did! I love boba and I've had many different varieties and have gone to many different shops in different states and countries. I really loved Ume Teas flavors and qualitea! They have traditional milk tea and black tea and the flavors were so yummy! (I tried my friends that had taro!). The best part was the fun surprise cup that had a plush bunny!! The store itself is super cute and they sell different cups and bunny plushies! They also had fruity teas and slushies. I definitely would return! Minus one star- the place is super crowded and there's not many places to sit. It's a small shop. Parking was also not easy to find. I drove around. There's a 30 minute limit on street parking so be aware when you visit.

So cute! - A pink, bunny-shaped foil balloon with the phrase "IT'S ALL ABOUT U & ME" is placed on a pink shelf, alongside a flower arrangement and plush toys.

I just experienced a slice of heaven! So happy UmeTea is located in Evanston. Parking: challenging, however there is street parking First time visitor. Whimiscal environment, many seats inside. I found the place a very fun space! Staff was very very nice and answered all my questions. I adore my mug with matching straw! My order: Brown Sugar Boba Oolong Milk Tea, light sugar (30) and light ice. A fabulous treat! Tip: sign up for points and join mailing list with your phone number. I plan to frequent this place often.

Came in on a weekend evening for some drinks. There was no other customers in the store at the time. We ordered 3 different kinds of drink. The large drink is a $1 more than the listed medium size drink. We got some of the drinks from the caffeine free section. The mango pomelo sago, the strawberry milk tea and the brown sugar boba. The mango pomelo sago was my favorite. It was more like a slushy. The strawberry milk one was good too and had pudding that came with it. The brown sugar boba one was not that brown sugary, was more just milk. The pricing I felt was pretty good compared to some other places now.

Matcha flavor wasn't that strong but I liked that strawberry flavor. I'd say this was an okay bubble tea place for me. I liked that the drink had matcha ice cream in it though! Probably would get a different flavor next time. The place is very cute and pink, just limited seating. We took the boba to the beach that's a ~10 minute walk away :)

The boba is delicious and the service is fast and good. The ambiance is so cute specially the wall of plushies. It's such a great place to study or take a break. I highly recommend going here.

Ahh! This used to be Viet Nom Nom, remember that? This opened on 2/12 and this is the second location in the Chicago Area. The original is in Chinatown. The staff and service is very good.

It's very good.. creamy and love the surprise gift .... we got ours at the Chinatown location. Service was expected esp. If the place is packed with patrons . I love all the pink ambiance of the store.

Amazing service! Loved the person who took my order, my drink was yummy! Would recommend coming here for boba!

The cutest, new boba spot in Evanston! Everything in here is pink. The decorations and plushie bunnies are adorable. They have extensive menu and I've tried 6 of the drinks and all were delicious! I haven't been disappointed yet. They have one of a kind topping, their mochi. It's quite different from the other tea shops. Service is fast but they are quite busy so there is a bit of a wait. I'd be coming back to try out the rest of their menu.

The boba milk was good and toppings were yummy. My favorite is the crystal boba and aloe jelly. it gives me hiccups sometime.

I love the bunny surprise cups (so does my child who ends up claiming them as hers).

The first time I visited I didn't realize they close at 8:30 pm so I arrived at 8ish and the server/owner snapped at me that they will be closing their doors by 8:30 pm so I hurriedly ordered a delicious chicken satay appetizer with peanut sauce presented beautifully in a tiny goblet and a crispy curry puff which was extremely good too. I loved the thai iced tea even though it was served in a small glass with lots of ice. The reason I am leaving a two is because the owner made me feel like I was not welcomed and an inconvenience because I arrived half an hour before closing. It was hard for me to savor the food based on the fact that the owner who is also a server to cut costs made it clear she needed me to leave when they start the closing process so I rushed through my first ever dining experience there. Today was my second and admittedly will be my last. The owner gave me the same icy indifferent attitude as if I wasn't genuinely welcomed. The first time I dined there I had a feeling she was the owner so I didn't tip and this time the owner lied to me when I mentioned I knew she was the owner when she practically DEMANDED a tip after my disappointing dining experience. She said she works there as s server and doesn't have a clue who the owner was completely lying to me so I would be quilted into leaving her a tip. First of all I arrived here at 1:30 and she coldly stated they close at 2pm no exception. There was no separate lunch menu and she let me decide what I wanted and didn't even take my order till 1:40pm I chose the crazy noodles with beef and you either get a tiny portion of cucumber salad or an egg roll appetizer. When my food arrived there were no chopsticks just forks and the plate was very decorative but the portions were extremely small. The egg rolls were good but each eaggroll was the size of your pinky finger and you get 3 tiny pieces. I ate quickly and when I got up to pay she asked me how id like to tip. I knew she was the owner so I felt it was HIGHLY inappropriate to hustle a guest for tips especially if you own your own restaurant and you're serving to cut costs by not hiring a server to work for you. Again I thought it was a tacky move on her part to insist on a tip and then lie to me and say she doesn't know who the owner is in real life. I don't like the owner's lack of business ethics so I will not be returning here especially because the lunch deal is extremely overpriced and doesn't include a side of salad or rice or beverage. She never once smiled at me nor made me feel like a welcomed guest so I don't feel like returning to support a business that treats their customers with such disdain and genuine unkindness. Also let me Reiterate even if the food is good my meal was soured by the negativity from the owner who works here as a server too to cut costs. My meal was $18 ish dollars not much of a deal when you realize the plate portions are small and the appetizer is miniscule too. What spoiled it for me was her lack of kindness and no chopsticks. Just not the vibes I'm seeking. I don't like the fact that the owner lied to me about not being the owner so very sketchy!
