All I can say is wow. I was in the area, looked at the menu and loved the variety. When I came in the first thing I noticed about this place was how calm the place felt. Everything was clean and well decorated. I ordered the Kani Salad as well as the chicken ramen and it was amazing. I felt that the workers were very attentive and gave me good advice on the menu. The taste of everything was full of quality and it felt like they took their time with my food. I really loved this place and will definitely be back. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

service was great! didn't have to wait on a friday night for a table of two. food was delicious. great local sushi spot

This is the triple toro dinner $50 for six pieces of toro (two yellowtail, two tuna and two salmon.) and a toro roll. Delivered with tip and tax this was $60. And I have too say. Fish quality good, not exceptional but what really kind of made this sad is it doesn't show in the photo well but this was the sorriest toro roll I've ever had. So small, so feeble and wimpy. Very little toro and very little rice as well. Flimsy. You can't change $50 and do that. Also super small nigiri. Overall, disappointing

Sushi & Sashimi For Two

Unassuming typical Japanese restaurant. The staff were nice. The green salad was OK. The papaya salad was not. I was concerned, but the main course made up for it. We shared the sushi/sashimi for two. Excellent quality and generous portion. Would definitely go back.

Sushi sashimi. Shrimp tempura. Spicy salmon.

The prices look attractive first but then everything is served tiny. Normally I'm full with 3 rolls. one shrimp tempura, one spicy salmon one tuna roll. Here all 3 make hardly one real roll. Sashimi pieces are small too. We spent $100 for 2. I was hungry when we left.

Ok at best. Not cheap. I got the 3 roll lunch special with spicy mayo and it cost $22. The rice tasted a little off, maybe a bit under cooked. The woman who took my order didn't fully understand what I wanted so a couple of my rolls weren't as ordered. I would have this place again but I'm not in a rush to go back.

The service was good to start. The woman coughing at full volume without covering her mouth, while not the staffs fault, really brought the overall vibes down. The fish was ok, middle of the road for the price but the California roll was a solid 3/10. The avocado looked fresh but the texture was off and the ratio of krab to avocado was all wrong. Was looking for a new local lunch spot and unfortunately this won't be it.

Very unique with both presentation and service being outstanding. The food itself is not bad but certainly not top end Sushi. Everyone is mainly there for the experience so be sure to get a reservation and in my opinion, outdoor seating is much better ambiance.

Ume has the best service, we love Alyssa!! We got the sushi platter for two, which was a great deal! We've also come for the happy hour which offers rolls and apps for $6!

I really enjoyed the veggie rolls I had here. They have a nice selection of different vegetable rolls, ranging from $7-$8 each. I do really like that the rolls have a lot of "filling, and less rice- see pictures. I think it is hard to find a place that does that and usually it is loaded with more rice and less filling. I was full satisfied after my meal of 3 yummy veggie rolls. The wasabi here packs a punch- spicy with just a smidge, which indicates to me they use good quality wasabi. Service was friendly and fast. Restaurant was full, but not crazy busy on a Saturday night. Got a seat for 2 right away. Restaurant decor was simple but still nice. I think probably seats ~20 or so in the whole restaurant? As for their other food, they have the typical selection of standard rolls, special rolls and sashimi. I cannot speak to the quality of the fish since I did not eat here. I would return the next time my sushi craving hits! A good place for a casual dinner that hits the spot!

Solid Asian restaurant with a good variety of sushi. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant, and the service was fast. Price is pretty good too. No complaints!

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

They share a takeout menu and it's super easy to order--text what you want to the phone number on the website and pickup in ~20 minutes :). You pay on a handheld and they don't ask for tip for takeout. I love this process and truly wish more sushi restaurants in LA adopt the takeout box. The only one I know of is hefty but also $200 each lol, making Sanyuu's $69 omakase and $78 Everything don, not to mention the $30 giant salmon nigiri set, A STEAL! I enjoyed most of the pieces but I will say I don't like their amaebi or uni at all. I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable. We're spoiled by easy access to live spot prawns everywhere and fresh SB uni. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I lived in the city.

The slices aren't thin, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth as one usually gets in a sit down; they are extra thick, and I had to really bite down on some of the pieces. The rice was nicely seasoned and was cooked well + portions are also big to match those thiccccc salmon slices. To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.

At the time, I thought that seemed fair enough, but looking back, I'm not so sure. For what was left in the bowl, $30 still felt overpriced. The fish slices were cut extremely thin, and there was really only a single layer of fish, so overall it just wasn't very satisfying. That said, there are still quite a few items on the menu that caught my eye and that I'd like to try. I'm going to chalk this one up to ordering the wrong dish rather than writing the place off completely. One thing that did leave a bad impression, though, was the interaction at the end of the meal. The girl who brought our check wasn't exactly rude, but she seemed visibly annoyed when we asked about using Apple Pay but ended up putting the charge on my card and it felt like asking her to bring over the Apple Pay machine was somehow inconveniencing her. She also didn't bother asking whether I wanted my receipt. Maybe none of it was intentional, but her overall demeanor came across that way and left us ending the meal with a bad taste in our mouths.
