Great little restaurant, where I shows that you can get a great meal for not too many €. Will go back for sure! Would like a non soup ramen bowl as addition! Kimchi was a bit too salty for my taste, but all genuine products. Liked the steamed bao as well!!

I am still waiting to hear back from your team. This is my…read moreoriginal review. I will keep posting until I get a reply. Food cold, unsafe food practices, terrible atmosphere, even worse customer service. I had the worst dining experience of my life at the Umamido Ramen restaurant in Antwerp last night. Our food was cold. The broth was cold, the tofu was cold, and the egg was cold. Not only that, but there was audible arguing between the manager and the kitchen all evening. Mistakes were being made all night and the arguing got to a stage where everyone could hear it. At one point the manager and the chef were arguing because a food item had been sent out twice. I could also hear the kitchen complaining about customers, as well as the manager and the waiter complaining about the kitchen staff. I also witnessed unsafe food practice. I saw the chef take food out of another customer's ramen bowl, under the manager's supervision, because the kitchen had made a mistake and the dish had been sent out. It got so bad that we had to wait for our bill because both the chef and the manager were removing items from a ramen bowl due to the mistake. Because of everything that happened and because our food was unsatisfactory, I asked for a discount. When paying, I also told the manager that my tofu and egg were both cold. He told me it was meant to be cold and then accused me of bribery. I was genuinely shocked by this accusation, which is a very serious thing to say to a customer. He said it sounded like I was bribing him. This is really poor customer service. Not only did we have a bad evening, but the manager made it worse. I would like to hear from management about this.

I was craving some steamed buns! There isn't really any other place for that in Antwerp. Umamido has em and their good. Made my day. Will be going back, very soon. Ramen also very tasty, good spot, good location! Would love it if they would add more varieties of buns, but that's just cause I'm a bun-lovin chick.

Okay, really a 3-star place but because this was exactly what we were looking for to satisfy our…read moreramen craving while abroad, it gains an extra star. A disclaimer: I realize that I'm probably spoiled by the mass of ramen joints that are in the Bay Area. As a result, I judge ramen places pretty highly. The 3-star rating is not to say that the ramen was terrible, but it is certainly not ranked among the best. Tonkotsu Ramen. Usually when I think of tonkotsu, I think of a rich and flavorful broth, as tonkotsu is traditionally stewed from pork bones for hours and hours. This broth fell a bit short of flavorful. The noodles, pork, and toppings were delicious (I always appreciate a perfectly soft boiled egg), but the broth is really what makes or breaks a ramen to me. Kara Miso Ramen. For those who like a bit of spice with their ramen. Or maybe not a bit of spice? I'm usually a super wimp when it comes to spice, and the slightest hint will have me reaching for a glass of water to rinse it all out. This one didn't do too much for me. I felt a little bit of heat lingering on my tongue afterwards, but I was expecting a bigger kick. The meat on this bowl was also a little dried out. I can definitely see why this place would do well in this neighborhood; it fulfills a need that is missing, which is exactly why we ventured into Umamido. Great for an area that is slim on authentic ramen choices; not so great for someone who comes from an area that is saturated with ramen.

I surely will not recommend that place, don't worth the price, no taste (put the extra egg)…read more I could also talk about the disrespectul student staff...the only japanese vibe you will get is the Honda Motocompo they show in the front window (very nice).

I got the one recommended by my waiter, the creamy veggie miso Ramen, and the lower right corner of the menu. This one is not spicy. Next time I come, I will try one of the spicy ones. I got the lychee soda, which is a little too subtle for my taste, but I find that it grows on you. They also have Kirin on draft as well as bottles of Heineken and a 0% Heineken. And of course they have green tea as well as the usual stuff. Ok, the food: these are freshly-made japanese noodles. That means there's a wait for your food, and in my experience, it was substantial. Don't come here if you're in a hurry. This experience may be a one-off, as the waiter apologized for the wait and brought me a free refill of the lychee soda. The noodles were fine, a substantial meal with lots of vegetables in the soup. I added some soy sauce as it was pretty bland. Next time I would ask for some of their black garlic oil. I would come back, if only to try the spicy dish (they describe the spicy sauce as "numbing"!), but I think this place would be great for meat eaters.
