- excellent cafe for a brief stop -…read more My bro and I ordered the coffee with apple cake for 5 euro, the apple cake was delicious and there's wifi here. I asked for the wifi password, and the bartender told me it's the capital of Australia instead of telling me what exactly the pw is (which is cinberra). The decors here are super cute yet exotic, there are tons of traveling books on the bookshelf as well. The beer that my bro ordered for 4 euro was excellent as well. They also have seats on the patio upstairs, so it's nice when it's sunny too. There are also plenty of seats in the back as well, tho I prefer the sofa area. It's a good spot to get wifi or rest in the middle of your trip.

I was visiting a friend in Gent and she said this was her go-to for visitors, and I could see why…read more It's basically a giant ex-pat bar. All the wall decor is travel-related (with photos of who I assume is the owner traipsing all around the world), and maps and license plates from all over. There's a giant lounge-y area with couches, there's seating in the front, back, and upstairs (including and outdoor area). The place is HUGE. We sat upstairs, which was cool because you could overlook the rest of the restaurant. I was advised to get the beef stew, which is a Gent specialty. It was definitely comfort food and well made, though a bit weird to eat in the summer. It came with a bunch of croquettes on the side, perfect for dipping in the sauce. Their menu also has all sorts of other random stuff like kangaroo and Asian fusion. Good beer selection as well!

This restaurant is located 6 - 7 blocks from the Botanical Gardens subway / tram stops. The area…read moreimmediately around it seemed to have a lot of restaurants. We first tried to eat here on a Thursday evening, but when we arrived there was a 25-minute wait if you had not made a reservation. It was raining that day, so we opted to just find another place to eat. The following evening (Friday), we had a bit more time to prepare so we made a reservation with them at 6 p.m. The layout of the restaurant is somewhat unusual. You enter in a small space (which may have had a couple of tables at sidewalk-level, but I'm not sure). You then climb a half-flight of stairs up past a kitchen area to the main dining room. Here they had several tables along each wall extending towards the back, where they had an additional 2 - 3 tables. We sat in the back. If the weather is nice, they may have a couple of tables out on the sidewalk, but again I'm not certain of that. If anyone in your party is disabled, you may have a limited seating option. That wasn't an issue for us, though. Where we sat in the back, we got to watch them prepare the cocktails. The place was busy but our server kept checking on us. Our drinks came out fairly quickly. The entrees took a bit longer, but the timing was still reasonable. I got a noodle dish which was quite good. The portion was reasonable and I finished it. I think both the others in our party got soup-noodle combinations which they also liked. The place appeared to be a family-run business (potentially). The staff managed the crowd well. Though you need to plan ahead a bit, the meal here was worth it. If I were back in Brussels, I'd consider returning here for a meal.

So happy discovered the place. They really invested in lovely decor and great looking menu and…read morebeautiful dishes, far better than many Asians I've seen. Very kind service. I tried the fried butterflied shrimp as well as shrimp dumplings to start with and it was fantastic. The soups are amazing (Thai pho and Laska). Entrees are at the €8 range while the main dishes and soups at the 12-14€ depending on the "protein" (as they refer to it... being chicken or tofu or shrimp) chosen. Fantastic price quality. My favourite Asian so far.
