The programming here stood out to me when I first joined. Jorge and the other trainers are not just knowledgeable, but you can tell they genuinely care about your progress. Whether its your first workout class, or you've been an experience veteran, they tailor the workouts to suit your level and constantly challenge you to make progress. You have your build days (strength/core focus) and your burn days (cardio endurance) so there is definitely a variety--keeping things fresh and exciting. It's not just about how heavy your lifting the weight. What truly sets this gym apart is the sense of community. The members here are very supportive and friendly, and the more I attend class the easier it's been for me to stay consistent. From fitness challenges to different community gatherings (taco trucks, san pedro social, xmas parties) theres always something exciting happening, keeping me motivated throughout the year. The facilities are pretty clean, the gym equipment is updated (brand new sets of kettlebells, new rogue rigs, and rogue weight plates) theres also a second room thats fully equipt with power racks, cable pulleys, FID benches, dumbbells up to 120lbs, cardio equipment. All in all if your looking for a gym that offers a supportive community and excellent programming Brickhouse is the spot to be. The trainers are knowledgeable, the members are like friends/family and the overall atmosphere is incredibly postiive.

Why can't I give more than 5 stars??!…read more If you are like me and HATE working out, Lena is the personal trainer you never knew you needed. She provides a judgement-free environment with zero pressure from others because it's just you and her during the 1:1 sessions. She gives the right amount of push, positive reinforcement, and guidance so you can achieve your own goals. She is firm and demanding, but somehow gentle and understanding at the same time, too. She checks in to see how you're feeling at the start, multiple times during, and at the end of each session. She is attentive, provides clear instructions, models the movements, and is very open to modifying exercises and expectations based on what you personally need. I also love that her gym is smaller than a typical corporate gym. It has a cozier, less intimidating feel to it. Not to worry, though. Her gym is fully stocked and she has everything you need to achieve a full-body workout. In addition to a free consultation (5-10 min talk re: goals + 30 min workout), she offers single sessions or you can buy a package of sessions at a slight discount. In terms of scheduling, she's very accommodating. I've had to change my session to another day several times now and she was really great about squeezing me in on another day of the week. If you're on the fence about signing up, don't be. Lena is nothing like the personal trainer stereotypes out there. She's personable, approachable, knowledgeable, and encouraging. Do this for your future self; you won't regret it!

It's not that I don't think women can be good trainers. I just figured a male trainer would better know my needs because he's also male. However, it's hands-down the best decision I've made regarding my health goals. Lena knows her stuff and the results I've been seeing is definite proof. I started with Lena four months ago and I'm down 13 lbs. I've gained noticeable muscle in my arms, legs, back, and abs. She not only pushes me to do challenging workouts, she customizes it for me so I never feel like I can't do something. She holds me accountable, but doesn't ever make me feel bad if I'm a little lax one week. She also works with me to monitor my macros. I definitely didn't want to track macros at first because I was afraid all I'd get to eat was chicken breast and egg whites. I do eat a lot of that, but I also get to eat what I want. I use her guidelines to stay on track and she reminds me that it's more about hitting macros over an average week. If I went carb heavy one day, I should make up for it by cutting back a bit the next day - it all evens out if you do it right. Can I work out on my own? Yes. Can I track macros on my own? Yes. But Lena provides the accountability piece that keeps me honest and motivated. Plus, she's positive, encouraging, and easy to chat with. Makes the one hour session go by pretty quick. Definitely recommend training with Lena. She's great!

After a few meager attempts to get into an exercise routine, it became clear I would need to pay someone to kick my proverbial butt on a regular basis. I was excited to find a gym with such consistently great reviews nearby, and WESTCA absolutely lives up to the hype. I have a decent amount of experience with lifting and resistance training, but I also have some physical limitations, so the semi-private training format has been perfect for me. It provides the structure and accountability I was looking for while still meeting me where I am in terms of experience, fitness level, and physical capability. I've been training with Ivan, who consistently brings good vibes. His instructions are clear, he's quick to adapt exercises around physical limitations when needed, and he progresses training safely and thoughtfully with encouragement along the way. Progress has been steady, and I love feeling stronger and more energetic. As many other reviewers have mentioned, WESTCA is a smaller gym with a welcoming, low-pressure atmosphere. It's the kind of place that makes it easy to stay consistent. If you're looking for a gym, WESTCA is an easy recommendation.
