I like the trainer & this gym workout. We had a group workout today & I loved it a lot because I didn't feel that I workout at all. Austin was making our workout fun. He made the workout like a game & fun, such as hitting a 10lbs ball, tapping the yellow light, rolling a weight ball, etc. Austin is a friendly & fun personal trainer. I would highly recommend this gym because you will have fun while you workout at the same time

    Still smiling after!!! :)

Had a team workout at Hyperstrength and LOVED IT!! :) it did not feel like a workout, it was friendly competition, and focused on self improvement. Austin & his crew are awesome! I definitely recommend this place!!!

This is a special review for Anthony Perez who helped me and my gf with our workout this morning. I've never done workouts that consisted of strength and conditioning that targets every point of the body. Anthony is very informative and highly educated about the human body. He doesn't pressure anyone in going beyond their boundaries and that's exactly what he did with me. Since it was technically our first time, he made sure to take it a bit easy. My gf and I got to work on mostly everything. From different sets of lunges to chest workouts, jump boxes, TRX workouts, stretches that focused on different parts of the body, more. It was a circuit workout that had four different workouts and a repetition of 2-3 times. At the end, everything hurt; legs and glutes were sore, shoulders and chest sore, etc. Throughout this whole workout, Anthony was very supportive. He made sure we were doing our workouts and stretches correctly by checking our form and posture. He's patient in every way and that is a great sign of a caring instructor. This gym has lots to offer! It's private and gives you this intimate setting which creates a personal space between you and the instructor. The music in the background helps with some motivation and gives you that extra push. I also like the Marvel comic decor all around because it's fun and not uptight like most gyms. Thank you to Anthony Perez once again and Rachelle Dudero for everything. My gf and I had a great time overall. We had lots of laughs and worked out like a family. I highly recommend getting a workout from Anthony. He's very motivational and definitely will make you feel better about yourself at the end of the day. Thank you so much Ant!

Ask the Community - Hyper Strength and Conditioning

Do you offer women's only groups?

One of our biggest programs are Semi-Private Training with groups between 2 to 4 people of similar goals. When people create these group they tend to workout with their spouses, family or friends. Its up to the group themselves how they want to…

    Stationary bikes at the location?

We will soon have some airdyne bikes!

Has anyone who identifies as fat trained here? If so, can you speak to the fatphobia present (or not) in this space? Ie. Is the training centered on 'losing weight' versus being healthy/ being strong etc

Great question! People definitely identify here as the typical "Fat Powerlifter" and we have people who genuinely just want to focus on getting strong and being a beast in their own regard.…

Do you provide Yoga and cardio kickboxing? Also, late classes for those two?

We provide Yoga at least once a month and currently working on providing more times. We do Cardio Boxing once a week at 6pm on Tuesdays and may implement Cardio Kickboxing in the future! Most of our classes for conditioning are around 6pm or 730pm!

And here's yet another five-star review for WESTCA…read more Like a lot of people, I spend far too much time sitting behind a computer. After a few meager attempts to get into an exercise routine, it became clear I would need to pay someone to kick my proverbial butt on a regular basis. I was excited to find a gym with such consistently great reviews nearby, and WESTCA absolutely lives up to the hype. I have a decent amount of experience with lifting and resistance training, but I also have some physical limitations, so the semi-private training format has been perfect for me. It provides the structure and accountability I was looking for while still meeting me where I am in terms of experience, fitness level, and physical capability. I've been training with Ivan, who consistently brings good vibes. His instructions are clear, he's quick to adapt exercises around physical limitations when needed, and he progresses training safely and thoughtfully with encouragement along the way. Progress has been steady, and I love feeling stronger and more energetic. As many other reviewers have mentioned, WESTCA is a smaller gym with a welcoming, low-pressure atmosphere. It's the kind of place that makes it easy to stay consistent. If you're looking for a gym, WESTCA is an easy recommendation.

I originally planned to train with Adam for just 3 months, but the amount of progress and muscle growth I saw in that short time was insane, so I decided to keep going. What makes Adam such a great trainer is how flexible and dedicated he is. I travel a lot and work a demanding software engineering job, but he's always willing to adjust schedules and make things work. You can tell he genuinely cares about his clients and loves what he does. Even on days we don't train, he still checks in, gives me pointers, and helps me stay on track. He also does a great job tailoring workouts to your specific needs and constantly adds different exercise variations to keep things effective, challenging, and fun. Every workout feels personalized instead of repetitive. The gym itself is amazing too -- it has every piece of equipment you could possibly need, plus all the little extras that make training better. Everything is always incredibly clean and spotless, which makes the environment even more motivating to be in. On top of all that, Adam keeps workouts fun and motivating. We always have great conversations, and over time he's become more than just a trainer, he's become a friend too. Highly recommend him to anyone looking to level up their fitness.

Wow! I should have read the reviews first about this place, but the reviews make sense. If I could…read moregive a zero I would. I joined City Sports Club on Brokaw because I was genuinely excited to get back into shape. Unfortunately, what should have been a positive experience quickly became frustrating, discouraging, and emotionally exhausting, thanks to Sam, Richard and Mari. From the beginning, nearly every interaction felt like a sales pitch. I signed up for a gym membership, the Pilates add-on, and personal training because I wanted professional guidance and support. During my training consultation, Richard, the Director of Training, promised nutritional guidance, including calories and macros, a workout plan for the days I was not meeting with a trainer, measurements, and an assessment. When I arrived for my first training appointment, Richard appeared unaware of why I was there. My trainer then asked me many of the same questions I had already discussed with him, which made it seem like there had been little communication. The workout lasted approximately 25 minutes, which had not been explained when I signed up. When I asked about the nutrition and workout plans I had been promised, I was told that the trainer did not know me or my form well enough to provide them and that I should do any exercises I already knew. This was incredibly discouraging because I had specifically signed up for personal training because I needed guidance. I left feeling deflated and devalued as a member. When I raised my concerns, I received conflicting explanations, little accountability, and repeated promises that someone would follow up. I had to explain the same emotional experience to multiple employees (a total of 5 times), yet calls were repeatedly not returned. The most disappointing response came when I was told that they "usually do not issue refunds because of an experience." This was not simply a change of mind. I joined with every intention of using the gym, but the services and guidance used to sell me personal training were not provided as represented. After the poor communication, unfulfilled promises, and dismissive handling of my concerns, I no longer felt comfortable returning. The only person who made me feel genuinely heard was Rod. He listened, apologized, and showed empathy when no one else had. I truly appreciated his kindness. I joined because I was motivated and excited to prioritize my health. Instead, I spent my first two weeks dealing with sales pitches, contradictory information, poor communication, unfulfilled promises, and repeatedly chasing people for answers. I am still waiting for a resolution and the full refund I requested. I am posting this in hopes of a resolution, as it seems every attempt I have already made comes with repeated excuses and promises of follow-ups that never occur. I am the one who has to do the follow-up. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking City Sports Club to acknowledge how poorly this situation was handled, honor the full refund I requested, and allow me to move forward without continuing to chase employees for answers.

When I tried booking it through the app, I selected it on the drop menu, but for some reason it didn't put it for me. I did pay a reduced fee, but I would think that it would know that it was my first time and automatically sign me up for it. When I got there, the instructor told me I had to pay for the socks, but I could email the manager to see if I could get a reimbursement. So the class and socks ended up costing me 40 bucks (18 for socks). For some reason the label said $14, but I was charged 18. Not sure why. First impressions - The instructor seemed nice, but the intro was literally 5 minutes long and then you were on your own. When I started at orange theory, the coach constantly checked in on me to see if I was okay and that made me feel better about starting a new workout. Honestly, I felt like a fish out of water. I had to keep looking at the other girls next to me to see what to do because the instructor was throwing out instructions and unfamiliar terms to me at the speed of light. Also, I could tell the handle bar slack was uneven, but after my friend mentioned that hers was too to the instructor, she said "oh" and that was it so I didn't speak up either. The workout - Man, this burns so good. I thought I would be prepared for it with a year of Orange Theory under my belt, but my body was not ready for it. I can see why it's such a good workout. My legs were still shaking 30 minutes after. I would be up for another class in the future. Just need more exposure to the terminology. Overall it was a great workout. Maybe not the best for someone that is completely new to it, but you got to start somewhere.

However, I am not a big fan of some of the gym machines as some aren't very comfortable to use. For example, the excess amount of Hoist machines could possibly be replaced by other machines from other companies. In other gyms I have visited, the other machines from companies like Life Fitness have been a favorite for me and at times I see myself going to these gyms to get a workout that is more appealing for me. Another thing I have noticed is that some of the cardio machines almost never see use and could possibly be replaced by other machines. This is an amazing gym overall but it could definitely see some improvement. From other people I have spoken to they all noticed the big price increases on memberships and guest passes, and I think it would be fitting to see some equipment upgrades to go along with the increased prices.

One area where I think the gym could improve is the equipment selection. I would love to see more modern pin-loaded machines, especially for legs and upper back. In my experience, many of the Hoist machines are awkward to use compared to Hammer Strength or Life Fitness machines, and I've noticed that several of the Hoist machines near the front of the gym often sit unused while other equipment is constantly occupied. I've also heard similar feedback from other members. With membership prices increasing, I think investing in newer equipment would add a lot of value. Machines such as a pullover machine, pin-loaded preacher curl, supine press, and a pin-loaded chest-supported row would be excellent additions and would give members more effective training options. I really enjoy this gym and hope it continues improving. Upgrading some of the older Hoist machines to Hammer Strength or Life Fitness equipment would make an already great gym even better.
