Absolutely LOVE Ultra Nails. Clean, well kept nail salon. Do not judge the salon by the outside of the building which has a lot to be desired. The talent inside says it all!! This place is amazing!! If you're looking for nice acrylics (long and short) this place is right for you! It was always really hard for me to find places in the irwin area and would always find myself traveling to Pittsburgh to get good nails. I am very picky about my acrylics, but this place made me incredibly satisfied. They take time on your nails and don't just slap them on and expect money. They don't care about their clients even if they're loyal clients. I started going to this salon off & on starting 2014 & stopped when I moved out of the state in December 2015. I never had a problem with Long or John then. They seemed happy & humble. Maybe it was because the salon wasn't as busy. I don't know but there were plenty of times I went in there and seats were empty for nails, pedicures or both. Recently both of the aforementioned techs have received CEU's (continuing education units) to further expand their talents & keep up with changing trends which is awesome for them, but now their talents and expanded clientele have made them arrogant and cocky. Fast forward to 2018 when I went back to the salon. Three months ago John did my full set. I came in with a picture. I always have pictures unless I want something plain. I never expect the nails to look exactly like the pictures since it's not the same person doing them. The nails turned out good but I felt they could have been better. They needs cleaned up a bit, (there was extra acrylic under my nails and in other spots), and the coffin shape could have been more angled, but I liked my nails. The interaction, however, made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I'll just say that as a person that deals with the public, certain views & opinions should be kept to oneself. Last month (September 2018) I made an appt with Long. I once again came with a picture of how I wanted my nails. I asked him if he could do the marbling on the picture and he said yes. He tried to get me to do black & white instead of the nude & white that was portrayed the picture. I understood the two colors weren't a deep contrast & the marbling wouldn't stand out as much as if the colors were black & white, but those colors didn't go with my nail theme & seeing the marbling as nude & white in the picture, it looked just as good to me. He did the marbling & the one nail looked really good (the other not so much). The marbling would have popped more had he made the nail nude & the marbling white like in the picture, but I said nothing). When he was done, I was happy & even left a tip. While getting my nails done I overheard John bragging to his client (who was right next to me) about how he can pick & choose who's nails he does & how he screwed over a person who wanted to get an appt with him that day. Thursday, October 4th, I went into the salon after scheduling an appt a little over a week in advance. When I signed in Long was at the desk. I assumed he was waiting for me since I scheduled my appt with him & I was there on time but he did not move after I signed in. So I sat down in the waiting area thinking maybe he wasn't ready yet. A few minutes later another woman walked in, signed in, then sat at Long's desk as he accompanied her. John then walked over to the desk, looked at the sheet I had signed in on & summoned me over. That's when he told me "I accidentally overbooked myself. I have nothing for three weeks." Two thoughts enter my mind, what does that have to do with me? I didn't schedule my appointment with you. Confused I may have written the wrong nail tech's name down on the sign in sheet, I proceeded to ask if they other guy had appointments available. I was told to ask him. So I walked over, excused myself for interrupting Long & his client's conversation & politely asked him if he was available the remaining week. He turned to look at the appointment book & came back with a no. So I asked if he was available next week or if he's booked the next three weeks also. This time he turned & glanced at the appointment book for maybe three seconds without even flipping through the pages and curtly said yes. I thanked him & walked out. By what I've heard & witnessed the last few times I'm there I'm sure they've done this to multiple people. It's extremely ignorant & uncalled for. If they want to purposely bump people they should have the courtesy to call them & cancel their appointment instead of wasting their time & gas & being rude to them for no apparent reason. If they have an issue with someone they should be man enough to state such instead of playing petty games. I have no issues taking my hard earned money elsewhere or letting other people know how they really feel about the community. read more

Went for a dip gel manicure. They argued with me that all dip gel is acrylic, and now I cannot get the acrylic off of my nails. She also did a terrible job. The corners of my nails were shaped higher than the middle. Also, my nails were not cleaned up around the edges. I had polish and acrylic all over the sides of my nails and skin. Manicure didn't even last a week and traditional dip usually lasts 2-3 weeks read more

Good news is they were able to accommodate a last minute appointment. Bad news is that our appointment was for a regular pedicure and they upgraded to a gel ($15 per person extra) without asking. My manicure was substandard as the tech had to remove polish after she was reminded by her coworker to apply a base coat and I had to ask her to paint the whole nail on my big toe as she left a sizable portion unpainted. Also had to request the top of big toe nails to be painted as pedicure clearly looked unfinished. Do not recommend this establishment. read more

For anyone who gets their nails done, DO NOT GO TO ULTRA NAILS in Irwin! I made an appointment for my daughter and I to get our fingernails and toenails done today. I asked if they had a problem with her being 3. They said there was no problem. From the time we arrived the girl who did our nails was rude. This was not like her. By the end, one of the guys who has been doing my nails, for the past 4 years, made a smart comment about not doing kids anymore. I told him that I called and asked, and that I thought she was really good. She didn't move around, wasn't loud, and was really excited. He made another smart comment, to which I said again that I called and asked in advance. I could've taken her somewhere else. The girl started walking away without her tip and I had to ask if she wanted it. I should've just kept it and walked away. Then the guy made another smart comment!! I told him I've been coming here for 4 years, I tip VERY well, and maybe I shouldn't come back. As I was half way out the door he says "good. don't come back". If my daughter wasn't there I would've had an entirely different conversation!!! The worst part is that this was the first time she's gotten her nails done at a salon. It was supposed to be a fun daughter and Mommy memory! I took her there because I've never had a bad experience and I really like them. read more

Stopped in for a pedicure...what a mistake! Once we started, I asked the lady NOT to vertically cut the corners of my big toenails. Of course, this was the first thing she did. I avoid this, as it can cause ingrown nails. When I was leaving I saw her put the foam toe separators that I used into a drawer...NOT the garbage. I asked if they reuse them and she said YES!! I have nice feet, but do you really want mine on your feet an hour later? I wouldn't!! I will not go here again. read more
