One day I was out getting my nails done in Tropiano plaza and decided to check out the new salon next door, "Primp." I was drawn in my the sharp design. The decor is a perfect balance of modern and forties vintage. So cute! I was greeted by the owner Nicole, and though she was busy she offered to sit down with me for a consultation. After explaining my disposition she went through a detailed description of how she would do my cut and style, highlights and lowlights, and what conditioning treatments the salon offered. I scheduled an appointment for the following week and was amazed at the results! All of us blondes know how tricky it can be to get a healthy natural looking set of highlights. Nicole did a mixture of champagne and gold highlights with tea and subtle bronze lowlights. Having coarse hair she offered an affordable protein pack that left my locks silky. I even entrusted her to shape and wax my brows! When I walked in, about 10 mins early, I wasn't greeted by anyone. There was one stylist blow drying a client, but no one else to be seen. I took my seat and waited. About 5 minutes later someone walked out from the back and asked what I was there for. She did offer me a drink, which I appreciated, and had me fill out basic new massage client paperwork. After the stylist was finished with her client, there was a lot of chatter (about the client) between the stylists. I thought it was somewhat unprofessional, but I ignored it. The massage therapist emerged from the back about 5 minutes after my appointment time and apologized for running behind. I waited for her last client to come out. And waited, and waited....and waited some more. He finally came out and then chatted with a few of them while I was still sitting there. The stylists/massage therapists were being respectful & friendly, but by this time, it was about 15-20 minutes past my appointment time. Thank God I didn't have any plans afterwards, or I would have had to cut my massage short. The massage was AMAZING and Tara really took the time to address and concerns I had. Even though she was behind, I didn't feel rushed at all. The room and bed were comfortable - heated blankets were on the bed - and the smell of the massage oil was pleasant without being overwhelming. I particularly enjoyed that when she was finished, she placed hot, damp towels on my back. Not only was this relaxing, but it was nice to be able to wipe off some of the excess oil before I got dressed. My only complaint about the room is that it is no where near being soundproof. I was very relaxed about halfway through my massage, when all I could hear was a man's booming voice in the hallway. That'll wake ya up for sure. Overall, I loved my massage and will definitely be back! I am hoping that my first experience here was just an off day.

The color used doesn't last more than about 3 weeks at this salon so she did the foils on top. While I'm told my hair grows fast, I know from experience, it's also the color used & the way the highlights are put in. My last, Jan. 26, '21 visit Nancy argued a lot when I asked for longer top & side layers even though it's what I've had done at other salons for years. After arguing she really hit me w a high price, for no reason! All along this visit for roots & top foils was $64; this time I was charged $114! $50 more!! I asked why?! Prices went up. How much? Cuts $2, color $5. That math does not add up & I told her so! She broke eye contact, shrugged & repeated it was $114. I am done at a place that takes prices down then rips people off! I don't mind paying cash & I always try to tip good, even tho many don't tip an owner. Don't take horrible advantage of your customers! I know I'll find a good shop, & it'll be one that treats customers right.
