It is mechanically sound, it has only 26,800 miles on the odometer and its factory fire-engine-red paint looks to be unfaded. At age 90, I'm sure it will outlast me I had my first accident earlier this winter, and it was nasty. A chunk of ice left by a snowplow got trapped under my front bumper cover and split it six ways from Sunday. Attached pix show the BEFORE and AFTER left-side split--the right-side damage was twice as bad (sorry, the BEFORE pic won't upload). Two indie body shops would replace the bump cover and paint it for $1,000. As I drove to Oscar Auto Body for a third estimate, I pretty much figured it would come in with a $1K replacement, too. Owner Ramin Hakimi did, but then he suggested another way. He would weld the splits from the underside of the cover and brush-touch the paint. "You'll be able to see the tiny seam where the splits meet," he said,' but the casual observer won't notice any difference." Cost? $370. This plan's potential savings led me to show Ramin some surface damage to my rear bump cover, incurred some time ago when I backed into a brick wall too low to see. He'd take care of this cosmetic damage for $89 (Collision Bonilla wanted $700!). Attached pix shows AFTER. I chose to have both front and rear ends done, and I couldn't be happier with the work done, including the paint match. My choice made Ramin happy, too, because as an environmentalist he hates having to trash big pieces of fiberglass (his shop was one of the first in the city to transition to water-based or low-volatile organic compound (low-VOC) paint). I went to a family gathering last Sunday. I pulled into the driveway behind my brother, a perfectionist mechanical engineer. Walking over to my Civic, he said, "I see you decided to pop for a new bumper cover." Nuff said. Finally, I want to say that I wholeheartedly agree with the many online reviewers who found Ramin extraordinary. He is forthright and will give you his undivided personal attention as well as a more-than-fair price. He did not patronize me as so often happens with women drivers or discount my input because of my advanced age. We all want an honest estimator, and Ramin Hakimi is IT. Re photos, unfortunately I don't have Before pix of right front damage, which had worse bump cover splits than left front. No Before pix of rear either.

They caused damage to my partner's vehicle during routine buffing - a service for which they…read morecharged $78. They then quoted more than $1,000 to repair the damage the shop caused to the paint during the buffing. When we politely asked the shop not charge us to repair damage they caused, Steve Jarmuzek became defensive and argumentative. He argued that burning through the paint "just happens sometimes during buffing" as justification for attempting to charge us full costs and labor to repair the damage. Ultimately he removed the $78 charged for the buffing that damaged the car from the total bill, but continued to refuse to repair the damage unless we agreed to pay for it, in full. At my request, he gave us a business card for the owner, Kenny. Kenny has proven impossible to reach. We have sent Kenny three emails, none of which he has responded to. The number on the business card is the number for the shop, which just brings us back to Steve. I would avoid doing business with this shop at all costs. You could find yourself being told that damage to your vehicle "just happens sometimes" and being asked to pay thousands to repair it.

Maybe I was *slightly* swayed by the donut holes and gatorade in the lobby but whatever. They told me they could get the part and that the repair would take four days in total. I received excellent service so I scheduled my drop off date and got things figured out with my insurance. I want to start by saying my repair is absolutely beautiful. I was extremely concerned that I would never be able to fix the car, but it looks brand new again. The only downside was that I dropped the car off on December 13th and picked it up on January 6th. Yikes. With three jobs, no car, and no communication from the shop I was feeling *extremely* frustrated. After about a week and a half with no car I called the shop to see what was going on and they told me the part was on national backorder until the end of January and that they would call my insurance to see if I could pickup the car in the meantime. I never heard back. Had the shop communicated with me prior to me calling every week I would've had a much better overall experience. That being said, I feel like I chose the right place repair wise. I would've loved to hold the repair until they had the part, but overall it was worth the wait!

After driving around for 2 more hours I ended up at Tires For Less. The only thing I regret is not going there first! There were 6 cars ahead of us but Mo (see pic) pulled the car up outside a bay, took the rim, mounted the new tire and used a floor jack to remove the spare and put the new tire on. Customer service is rare nowadays, but that level of exceptional service is almost unheard of! Mo had us in and out the door in under 15 minutes.
