She was incredibly knowledgeable, took the time to explain ingredients, how to work products into my routine, and even demonstrated a few items, which made the whole experience feel fun and interactive. As someone who doesn't always know where to start with makeup, I really appreciated how welcoming and approachable she was. Stop judging customers by their appearance and start hiring people who actually want to provide service. I shouldn't have to 'dress up' to get basic assistance or to be offered the promotions I've earned. This store has a blatant problem with profiling based on clothing; if you aren't wearing a specific 'look,' the staff acts like you are invisible. Management needs to implement mandatory training to ensure that every person who walks through the door is treated with the same level of professional courtesy. When an entire floor staff ignores a paying customer--except for one helpful male associate--you have a deep cultural problem that is actively driving people to shop online instead of coming into your building. read more

This was my first time in this Ulta location. On entering I was greeted. I knew what I was going in for. First The Ordinary had both products I was looking for (usually one is out of stock). Next Milani lipstick, I did have to ask for help, associate came right over and even though the product was not on the shelf the associate got her manager whom looked up the product which they did not carry but went over other brands in the shade I was looking. I did go with a Milani color close to what was recommended. My Elf eyebrow gel with brush attached in stock, Rhianna mascara also in stock, finally an extra purchase. Carolina Herrera 2 travel sample which was the last item on the shelf that I wanted to try. I was surprised but excited to see a hair Salon and makeup counter, one stop hair & makeup option. I didn't have my Ulta card at checkout but the young man was kind enough to look me up. Everyone was super sweet, checkout a breeze and I scanned a code in store for 15% off. When I came into this location I was greeted by Courtney! Courtney had helped me in the past and has always been so wonderful!! Every single time I see her in the store she looks absolutely stunning and has the biggest smile on her face. I am so grateful for her right now! Normally when I'm asked if I need help I get so uncomfortable and embarrassed and say no. This time I did truly need help I paused and was about to tell her that I didn't need help, but I actually stepped out of my comfort zone and said yes. Courtney went above and beyond for me! I needed a foundation that wouldn't crease and would last. After explaining what I was looking for Courtney knew exactly what to recommend for me. She took me to the beauty bar and color matched me for the best foundation for me. While she was color matching me, I felt incredibly comfortable and asked her some other makeup questions. I explained how my foundation always creases and I can't ever get it right. Courtney talked me through what my routine usually is and gave me so much advice!! It is because of Courtney that I feel as though I can ask for help when coming into this store. Anytime I come to this location, I will be looking for her to help me! She gave me great makeup tips, tricks, and got me all of the right products willingly without making me feel uncomfortable or awkward or dumb. I left with a lot of amazing products and a huge smile on my face! When I was leaving she was at the front of the store to say bye to me. Courtney is always so kind and always gives the greatest recommendations. My makeup look is for a Halloween party and I am going way out of my element for this costume. I am very disappointed with this Ulta Beauty location. Like I literally wanna cry. The make artist that did my makeup. Im not sorry to say this Not to be mean. She missed half of my eye brown one side and didn't fill in my lip full. My eyeshadow was not like in the picture. I wanted. Like no shimmer or shine! It was just black made me look like a dam panda with a black eye. And nearly any foundation on my dam face! It was so awful. I cry walking out the door. when I left after paying and mind as you I was there to get my make up done and she try to charge me 100$ for highlights when I was in there for makeup appointment not hair appointment. I wish I could give this a 1/2, because I think it's worth a 2.5. This location is well stocked and has everything you need, but there is never anyone to help you. Give yourself a ton of extra time to wander down the isles to find what you need. Also during the COVID times, all of the samples are put away so it's really challenging to figure out shades. I realize in times of COVID we're not really looking at each other in the face, but that being said I really needed some help picking out make up, especially because we can't try anything on. I don't know if I just came across overly confident or like I knew what I was doing, but I felt like people walked right past me. When the girl at checkout ask me if I "found everything OK" I used the opportunity to let her know that I wasn't sure if the colour I chose for a foundation (that was close to $50) was the right shade.... Only then did someone assist me. I purchased the shade suggested and a day later had to return it because I looked like I had jaundice it was so yellow. I had my eyebrows done here today for the first time in a long time- I have really sensitive skin and never really liked how they looked enough to bother getting them done. I love Ulta's high-low mix of brands. I can buy premium eyeshadows and skincare on one side of the store, then get basic bath supplies and trusty drugstore brand products on the other (mascara, for example-- I've tried dozens and there's really not much difference between the expensive ones and the $8 ones). My one ask: PLEASE tone down the fragrance diffusing throughout the store. The perfume smell yesterday triggered a migraine. I doubt I'm the only one this happens to. Holiday shopping is definitely in full motion. I came yesterday to pick up Shape Tape from Tarte Cosmetics, which I've recently learned Sephora does not carry this product. There are many employees eager to help you and the store has everything you need, beauty wise at least. I don't often get my eyebrows waxed, but when I do I come here to the Benefit Brow Station. Ulta is always offering promotions and discounts too. However, last night was insanely crowded and waited in line for at least 15 minutes. I was pleasantly surprise during my stop at Ulta. On this Saturday they were offering makeovers with Tarte cosmetics. The place was buzzing. The store is nicely organized and inviting. The staff is pleasant and helpful. They carry lots of name brand grooming products, hair tools, hair care, make-up, moisturizers and perfumes. They have a hair salon at the back of the store. Make sure you ask the cost before the stylist begins. I got ripped off for a haircut which should have been a $10.00 neck trim which took 5 minutes and the stylist charged me $ 40.00! As a die-hard lover of CVS and Sephora, you can only imagine my head exploding upon entering Ulta, a somewhat hybrid of the aforementioned. Firstly, it is ENORMOUS. Enormous and well-lit. And clean. And organized. Each little island of delight is designated to a specific line of cosmetics or skincare, and is cleverly arranged and labeled, which is most appreciated by the easily overwhelmed and distracted Yours Truly. I must admit, I was pining over a new face cleanser, and at just the right moment, mere seconds before I would begin to convince myself to give up, I was approached by one of the loveliest, most helpful sales ladies I have ever come across. She listened to me, listened to what I was looking for, and assessed my skin all at once. Then and ONLY after I had finished speaking, she selected the item she felt would best suit my needs. She also extended the invitation for me to come back and have a treatment, which I loved. The item she selected for me is perfect. I can hardly wait to go back for my treatment, or just to have an excuse to go back to Ulta and peruse the hybrid that is made up of all the things this product junkie loves. read more

My experience at Ulta depends greatly on the staff they have working that day. Customer service can range from pleasantly helpful to complete disregard. It tends to be better overall than Sephora, which is why I generally avoid Sephora...but I digress... Prices at Ulta are OK - where you really score is the coupons. Nice tip - if you have 2 different coupons, they'll accept both. The sales can be good but of course, the premium items (Urban Decay, Lorac, etc) hardly ever go on sale - best time to score deals here is just after Christmas and the sets go on clearance. There is also a salon in-house but I've never used it, so can't comment on the quality there. Store generally is tidy but they need to restock and clean up some areas better. On a visit just after the holidays, it looked like a group of 4-year olds had been let loose to test all the Ulta brand makeup. Messy, empty and just generally sad. I realize it was after their busiest season, but at least tidy up! I come in for sales armed with my coupons and usually leave a happy camper. read more

They refused to return it without opening an Ulta account which consist of your name adress email account and phone number. I dont want an account but they refuse to refund without all that info. The biggest plus about Ulta to me is that it saves me the trip of going to Providence Place Mall and going to Sephora. Then again, Sephora offers free shipping on orders over $50 so if I plan well I don't have to go either place. In all seriousness, Ulta is a "all-under-one-roof" type of cosmetic place. They have a number of makeup lines (including Bare Escentuals), a TON of pharmacy beauty lines (Revlon, Maybelline, etc), salon grade shampoos (Redken, Matrix, etc), and they have a pretty big variety of styling tools as well. Oh! And let's not forget about all the perfumes available. Variety is surely a plus, but don't expect any discounts as a result. Ulta is not a superstore in that way; they simply make your life a little easier by keeping all these things under one roof. The one thing I do have to share as a pain point for me is their rewards card. Somehow, someway I end up having to sign up again and again each time I go into the store, with each checkout person once again not able to locate me in the system. (Mind you, I would have provided my card, but I never received any of the 7 I probably should have gotten by this point - I'm sure that would make the process of looking me up easier. But, I digress...) I've gotten to the point now where I simply tell them I don't want the card - and they all look shocked as I say this. But for the amount of time I've spent repeating my fairly lengthy last name to these people, then my phone, then my old phone number, then my cell, then "let's sign you up again", I could have just gone to Sephora. read more

She said okay and then without checking with me or looking at the photo again, cut off an extra 3 inches. I told her exactly what hair style I was avoiding and she gave me just that. The promise of high end name brand make up meets drug store cost effective alternatives gives the best variety. ULTA is truly a one stop shop for your beauty needs. Lately, I've had a serious ongoing love affair with Ulta. In the past I found myself less than impressed: their selection of brands felt seriously lacking, carrying only the usual drugstore staples and a few of the mid-priced mall brands (Too-Faced, Benefit, Urban Decay, etc). As far as this cosmetics junky was concerned, why bother when I could collect better points and perks over at Sephora for the same items? However within the last year or so, Ulta did a serious overhaul product wise and actually began to carry brands and products totally exclusive to them. And this is where I officially became a regular. Looking to try something unique and a little different? In addition to the usual, they now carry brands such as Khroma, CK One Cosmetics, Pop Beauty, Jane Cosmetics, Butter London and Lipstick Queen. ....Yup, LIPSTICK QUEEN. Two words: serious business. Well lit, clean and spacious, the Warwick location is definitely my favourite of the bunch and I make the 24-30 minute ride around once a week to the area. My only serious complaint? While Ulta's seriously stepped up their game product wise, their rewards program needs a serious make over. Despite the frequent visits and literally thousands of dollars spent over the years, only -once- did I actually receive a small sample while the rewards are usually like a $5 coupon and random little product. C'mon ladies: catch up with Sephora's VIB program and you got me for life. read more

This is THE place to get every beauty accessory in Warwick, from brands like Cargo, Fusion Beauty, Urban Decay, Stila, Dermalogica and everything in between. This store has it all ... but the best kept secret is their salon in the back of the store, which I never noticed on the previous visits here. Sarah (wonderful counsel, who never hesitates to sit you down and give you a make over if you're unsure of how a product will look) recommended I see Greta for a facial and I was incredibly impressed! The facial runs about $55 for an hour and includes a hand & scalp massage. I walked out of there barely remembering where I had parked my car... I've been going to this location for about 3 years. I love this store because you can get "drug store" items and higher end items as well. Lots of brands to choose from whatever your budget. The customer service is hit-or-miss. They either don't help you or everyone talks to you. That's OK with me because sometimes I don't mind the associates acknowledging me and other times I just want to be in my own little beauty world. But they have ALWAYS been helpful when I have asked a question. Sometimes the checkout line is slow, but the cashiers are always pleasant. They have a rewards card which is great! Gifts on your birthday, coupons, discounts, and actual $ that you can use! Sometimes they have double, triple, and 5x points! My 13 year old neices love going here because they can get "the good stuff"...and I don't mind buying them quality cosmetics. But they also get $3 lip balm. It's a great place to get them started...foundation, lip gloss, maybe some body spray. And a few years from now they can graduate to more if they want. I great place to spend some time with your daughter, granddaughter, or niece! I find Ulta to be better than the other major beauty store...quieter, friendlier associates, better selection, and much less stressful. Even w the manager attempting to fix what the stylist did to my bangs (which was hack them an inch too short and cut them part straight across/part slanted... my bangs seriously looked like a jackolantern's mouth) even after, I look ridiculous and thank GOD I work from home and can baseball-hat it for a few weeks. Ulta offers all the cosmetic/beauty needs that your chain drugstore or walmart offers as well as all the higher end products that a store such as Sephora would offer. It's one stop shopping! where else can you buy a hair dryer, eye lash curler, your run of the mill mascara, fancy shmancy foundation, clarisonic, and cotton swabs all in one place?! There really is no reason to go anywhere else! Not to mention, they even offer salon services (which I have not tried, because I can't have an affair with another salon/stylist) Sign up for their reward card (in store or online), and start collecting points! I don't consider myself a girl that particularly likes to get "dolled-up". Probably because beauty takes lots of money, time, energy and in many cases pain. So its lazy girl get-up all the way for me! You could say I was dragged along here on a girls day out. My mind transfixed on the idea that after this stop I will be rewarded with coffee or food. Yes, you can pretty much bribe me into anything so long as there is a promise of coffee by the end of the day. When I entered those doors, my dormant girly-girl woke the hell up. Suddenly, I was a kid at a candy store. I was walking up and down those aisles so joyously you would have thought I lived under a rock. They had EVERYTHING. From hair dryers/irons, body wash, foundation, nail polish, teeth whitening, shampoos+conditioners, eye shadows, brushes... and more! They had expensive makeup and hair supplies that made me go googly-eyed and inexpensive makeup/hair supplies that made me reach for my wallet. They even had a hair salon area to get your hair cut and styled! Say what?! I signed up for the rewards program. But given the fact that I'm 30-40mins away from there I sadly don't use it as often as I would like. Make a branch in Smithfield or Providence for us Northern Rhode Islanders!! read more
