After some recommendations I ended up at Salon De Moda. And boy am I glad I did ! They are open late during the week and have Saturday appointments for those of us who have to work until five or later. My appointment was for two and I was greeted and seated right then. Why make an appointment if I have to wait ? No waiting here. The salon is super clean and very inviting. The workstations look like tool boxes and they have all kinds of neat decor. I was entertained just looking around. Onto the hair experience, I was taken care of by Tanya who is also the owner. What a lovely woman. She did a consultation first which and advised me on what to do to make My hair look full but not have to get it done all the time. I was there for an hour and a half in which my hair was cut and highlighted. This is an hour less Than I've spent at other salons. I was offered a drink which is nice when your just sitting around waiting for color to set. The other stylists are friendly also and every one that walked by said hello and chatted with me for a bit. What a great experience. I can't talk price since it differs for everyone depending on what you have done and kind of hair you have but I can tell you it was reasonable. I love my hair. I would highly recommend going there if your looking for a Hairdresser. Tanya was awesome and I will see her again but I'm sure the other stylist are just as great. Love love love my hair if I didn't say that before.

I have been getting eyelashes extensions for several years, however, I started seeing Jamie at…read moreSeductive Lashes only a few months ago. In total I've had my lashes done at a 7 different salons (in the states of RI, VT, WI), but I can say that Seductive Lashes BY FAR exceeds anywhere else I have been. The space is private and very relaxing with heated beds and chic decor. They always go out of there way to fit my schedule and are flexible with hours, which is important to me since I work full time and I am unavailable on weekends. Jamie, who is also the owner, always makes me feel very welcomed and comfortable during my appointments. For me getting my eyelashes filled used to feel like a chore, so I love that they offer 3 week fills (most places are 2 weeks). I have had wonderful luck with my retention and they also offer different products to help with your lash care.

Honestly, I don't want to hate on this extremely small business, but I would like to share my…read moreexperience for any potential future clients of Seductive Lashes, and just to be clear, my issue had more to do with lack of communication from the business and not with any service performed. I was a first time client of Seductive Lashes and I had been in touch with the business owner, as well as the lash stylist prior to my first appointment, but unfortunately, at no point did either of them alert me to the fact that their business was located in a hidden corner of a former industrial building/complex called the Hope Artiste Village (which was actually more like a small city). If I were given just a little guidance as to where I was to go, or perhaps what door to enter (and I am not exaggerating when I say this building/complex is huge), I'm certain I would not have arrived to my first appointment a sweaty, panting, exhausted mess!!! I will take some responsibility for not doing my research beforehand, but I'm thinking that I can't possibly be the only client who didn't realize that this business was located on the second floor, up a difficult to find staircase, behind a locked door, around several corners and down a not-so-well lit hallway. Once you do find Seductive Lashes, two hours later, and after an extremely vigorous completely unexpected workout, you are greeted by an unsmiling and not-so-friendly owner (but I guess I probably did startle her with my perspiring and exhausted appearance after running around a huge building in search of her business), because who else would pop up at the doorway of their business except someone who has spent the past two hours looking for it? If I still have your attention, it is important to note that after all of the effort made in locating Seductive Lashes, the stylist never showed up for our appointment. I'm not going to mention her name, mostly because I feel like something happened that prevented her from showing up. I don't think this was a case of her just being completely irresponsible, or at least I hope not. I will not be returning to Seductive Lashes, but I hope this somehow helps any new clients find their way. P.S. Enter through the doorway directly across from "The Met." The correct staircase is to the right, and go through the grey door at the top of the stairs. The door does appear to be locked, but with a good amount of pull and tug, it will open. Once on the second floor, I honestly can't remember how many twists and turns were involved, but at this point, you are at least in the right area. Just scream out if all else fails and hopefully the owner will come and save you.

About a year ago, I had the worst experience with a hair stylist who claimed to be a color specialist. I came in for color correction to get all the brassiness out. She assured me that achieving an ash brown hair color was doable. $320 and 2 days later (a total of over 6 hours), the result was a nightmarish shade of dark blue at the bottom half and brass on top. She blamed her incompetence on my difficult "Asian hair". This was the first and only time I cried after a " professional" hair treatment. Afterwards, I started dyeing my own hair, which looks way better than her work, but still couldn't get rid of the brass. I realized that my entire hair needed to be bleached by an expert and couldn't do it myself, so I did some research and found V Salon. I specifically chose V Salon because one happy Yelp reviewer recommended it for Asian hair. Because of the horrible experience in the past, I was a bit nervous and skeptical. But when Ben mentioned that my hair needed to be bleached and warned me of the damage it will cause during the initial consultation, I sensed he knew what he was doing. He consulted with me every step of the way to make sure I agree with possible outcomes. He even took a few strands of my hair and dyed it to to show me a sample before he colored my entire head. The sample looked too dark and gray, so I asked for a lighter ash brown color and wondered if a little gray or blue would counter the orange undertones. Not sure if he made the actual adjustments, but the overall job was fabulous upon completion! No more brass!!! Take a look at the amazing before and after photos. Will be coming back for a layered hair cut to remove the frayed and damaged ends. Can't wait to see it! Note: As of March 2021, V Salon is only accepting cash. Vincent said their machine was down. Luckily, I just went to the ATM the other day. (A lot of businesses in RI prefer cash, for some reason.) Prices are on the higher end. My bleach and color treatment costs $250, without a haircut. Update: Ben's hair cutting techniques are comparable to the expensive hair salons inside Copley Plaza in Boston that charge $100+ (crazy) but more affordable at only $37 for medium long hair. The layered hairstyles are very detailed and seamless, as opposed to the basic, quick cuts at Supercuts, but for the same price (with shampoo & blow dry)!

I finally decided to get a perm and went to V Salon after recommendations from others.
