Last month I accidentally left my husband Cartier sunglasses on the counter of Ilia cosmetic aisle. A very expensive pair. I phoned and personally went on location, not only the store counter manager did nothing to help , she was very nonchalant about it. And I know for a fact that whoever stole it will never gave it back. Didn't offer to look at the surveillance cameras. I'm sure if they did I would have found the culprit. But be assured that the Vallejo Police is on it now. And I will NOT drop my complaint until it's found. This is not the type of store i would visit any time if not ever. Friday night, I walked into the Ulta in Vallejo thirty minutes before closing. Yes, I was that person. The one you expect to be met with the ceremonial glare of exhausted retail royalty. I braced myself for the silent judgment of "we have lives, please leave." Instead, I was greeted with genuine kindness by the security guard at the front--and just like that, the entire gravity of the place shifted. The store suddenly looked cleaner, brighter, calmer. Like a well-run spaceship instead of a retail battlefield. Then came the staff. One associate greeted me with warmth, humor, and real human energy. And then another--she knows who she is: black Coach frames her mom got her, movie-star gorgeous, and operating at a level of helpful that should honestly require a cape. She didn't just help me find products in-store, she tracked things down online too. Professional. Sharp. Kind. The kind of competence that makes you pause and go, "Wait... am I in a commercial?" At the register, more of the same: sweet, funny, welcoming. They somehow made me feel completely at home despite the fact that I looked like a bridge troll who had lost a mild argument with life. For context, I worked at MAC Cosmetics for six years. I know what one three-hour shift on your feet does to the human soul. Yet everyone here looked fresh, upbeat, and genuinely happy to be there. This might be the best-looking, best-attitude Ulta crew I've ever seen--and yes, that includes the security guard. This was easily one of my top three shopping experiences, ever. You don't get service like this anymore. I actually caught myself wondering what Ulta is paying these people, because with attitudes this good, they should be earning nine figures and a small parade. 10/10 across the board. I wandered in today just to see what was going on. There were some nice sales (about 30% -ish) but even though it was from my favored brand, it wasn't the specific product my hairdresser recommended. Sigh. I found said product not on sale. But sadly it hadn't been on sale anywhere else so I succumbed. Compared to my last visit the store was hopping. Most of the staff was working the registers. I was on the search for a specific lip gloss and went into multiple stores and finally started calling around and found one in stock at Vallejo. They held it for me which I super appreciated. When I arrived at the store. I did some shopping I was offered help multiple times, everyone was so pleasant and nice. The store was clean fully stocked and organized. I love Ulta beauty but the ones near me aren't that big. This one is huge. So huge that they suffer from the "too many choices" syndrome that plagues so many of us. It's the largest I've seen and my gripe is that each aisle is crammed tight, especially now that the holidays are here and the holiday goods are out in force. I was looking for hair accessories, and the one thing I was looking at didn't have a price, nor was it on a hook with pricing information. Things seemed to be on hooks but in the most random placement. But, that's OK. I took a picture to look for it in my local store. But, all in all, it wasn't the worst trip ever. read more

I just love how intimidating it is to walk into a cosmetic store and fit right in. I appreciated a group of employees having a meeting in the middle of the store. No eye contact, no acknowledgment. This review is for Jan Marie at the hair salon. Decided it was time for my girls to get a haircut so I checked out Ulta. It was so easy to book online and I was able to find back to back appointments, the same day. I cannot say how pleased I am with the service and professionalism of Jan Marie. She allowed all of us to sit in the hair salon chairs since she was the only one working at the time. From the beginning she was sooo sweet and gentle with both of my girls. She made them feel comfortable and made sure they felt ok during the entire process (making sure the water was warm, when blow drying that it wasn't too hot). The girls felt so pampered by her. Jan Marie took her time with each of my girls, asking each time if I liked the length and trimmed it more if I wanted. The end result was perfect. My girls loved their hair. They even went home and pretended to be hairstylists lol. I would definitely take my daughters back to Jan Marie! $20 for a kids haircut was such a deal! They get a wash, cut and blow dry! I took my daughter to Supercuts last time, literally to trim the bottom of her hair and it cost me that much. No wash or anything! read more

I love this MAC! Quick, efficient service and all the artists are really friendly. I had an especially good experience today with Khamille. She took extra time to make sure all the products I got matched my skin, and gave me several concealer options so I could pick the one I liked best. Khamille and we had a great conversation, that's what matters most- good customer service and making your customer feel appreciated and acknowledged. I've had bad experiences at other MACs where it takes forever for someone to even look my way, but she was always on it and it's something that I really appreciate. It's a little out of the way for me being that I live in Vacaville, however I would make the drive out here anytime just because of the pleasant experience with Khamille. Unethical!! I visited Ulta in Vallejo today looking for a Milani product that Target no longer carries. I found the last two and was excited. I noticed the caps were BUT one was CLEARY lighter in weight than the other. YOU could see the product was half full. Here's where wHERE it goes, Left!! I will NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN. I tell the sales representative about the significant weight difference, and she too notices that one tube has more than the other. I tell her I've been to several places looking for the product so I want them both but not without a discount. She says we'll actually I need to mark this as a defect. I I speak to the MANAGER. The manager comes up and again notices the weight difference and says it was because they have different caps..(Any excuse is a good excuse) I say NO you can take both caps off... the weight is different. She says that because there is a seal on the product, she can't mark it defective! NOW AT THIS POINT IT BECOMES AN ETHICAL MATTER!! I ask WHY WOULD YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE SELLING SOMETHING or even PUTTING IT BACK ON THE SHELF KNOWING THE PRODUCT IS NOT 100%. She was helping me choose the best products that would fit my needs for a wedding that I was attending. She was so nice to even label the products for me so I could remember the order to apply. Went there today to get some hair slicket gel . I was a approached by an employee asking me if I needed some help and I said yes you have what looks like 30 different brands of shampoo, conditioner products, and I've used Paul MITCHEL's hair slicker before I was looking for something similar to it or something you would recommend. She acted like she did not have the time of a day. The store was empty. All she did was tell me that PAUL Mitchell's is the only one they have. I was talking to her ask her what kind of training that she had and she walked away from me while we were having a conversation Was trying to understand some of the products and she was the worst of the worst. I would give her an F. I looked around and saw many other brands to choose from, but I was unfamiliar with them. There was nobody to help me so I just went with the Paul MITCHEL. I went up and asked the cashier where the manager was. She was very helpful the cashier and when I met the manager, she was very helpful. Also, I told her about the situation and the fact that I was corporate regional management And I had up to 75 stores and actually the store that I was in used to be one of my stores so I'm used to retail and I've been in the hair business for many years and I was familiar with HAIR but I couldn't get any help whatsoever out of the other employee Like she was afraid to talk to anybody at a fast food restaurant where she could work in the back and not see anybody. Advertised as a "one stop shop", Ulta Beauty is almost literally just that. This company brands itself on offering a positive beauty experience for skin, hair, nails, makeup and much more. This location offers many in store services such as: M.A.C Makeup counter and products, Dermologica facial booth, Benefit Brow and Wax and full service hair and nail salon. Honestly, I have only visited the Benefit Brow and Wax bar. The service is beyond AMAZING. I book appointments with Ashley. Her skills with waxing has made me a forever customer. All of her services left my skin looking and feeling great. She even offers to fill in the brow after servicing. She is highly knowledgeable on taking care of the skin during and after waxing treatments. I would suggest if you want to try her services, call in to schedule an appointment. The beauty advisers, provide good service. I am always greeted upon entering. There never seems to be any shopping bags available for use. Always ask for one if there aren't. The beauty store is well kept. Products are organized in most parts of the store. The drug store side needs to be reorganized, as well as create new testers. I notice that some products are opened and swatched. I wish their fragrance aisle was fully stocked. The Daisy perfume roller balls are never available in store. I hesitate to purchase the full bottle, because I tend to carry my fragrances around during outings. Ulta Beauty in Vallejo will be my favorite location to visit. I booked a haircut yesterday, with Breanna. I haven't had a haircut in a while as I am very hesitant to let anyone cut my hair but it was long overdue! My hair reaches past my butt! Attached photo is what I wanted. Long flowy layers. I left there with a choppy layered haircut that has no flow, it's layered but they don't blend well. When I tie my hair up the front layers come out of their hair tie like bangs. They don't look like curtain bangs like in the inspo pic at all. I just wanted to get out of there I was so disappointed & wanted to cry. No point in arguments what will she do? Glue it back to my head?? Hands down the BEST Ulta experience I've ever had in my life, thank you to MAKAI!! (I hope you see this and know how thankful I am!!) Makai saved my life!! I came in panicked about what products to use to revive my dead, damaged, bleached hair... and Makai took so much time to really explain to me how to address the issue as well as giving me a wealth of knowledge on so many different products. I'm so grateful and want to emphasize how much better I felt leaving the store with a massive bag of products to use and try. All of this while my toddler was running around touching stuff but the positive experience outweighed any stress I had and honestly boosted my mood! *This review is on the salon... Specifically- Thelma* I was in desperate need of a stylist that could fix my over-processed, "blorange" disaster. I found a gem when I decided to book an appointment with Thelma. She took care of my hair as though it were her own. I had previous damage and breakage when I came in, and she tended to those areas with gentle TLC. I ended up needing a color correction, which took about 7 hours the first session and another 2.5 hours a few days later. Being this was my first hair service that ever took that long, I have to say it was a looong process- but Thelma's warm, personable, and positive attitude made it so worthwhile. She was professional and informative, which is very important to me. She also put extra thought and effort into making sure I was happy with the results. My hair color is now hashtag *goals* and it made my experience a whole lot better when I was able to apply the "25% off your first hair service" deal. Bottom line, I am 100 percent happy I booked my hair color appointment here and I will definitely come back. read more

This place needs to get it together. Listen, this is an ulta in vallejo, not a boutique in Beverly Hills. We need you to act like it. The place is always a mess, there is always a long line, the store is always musty because the "guests" walk in and spray a ton of perfume on top of perfume and leave and come back and put more on and let's not start on the way they mixing the scents. There is no HVAC in that area for as much perfume that people use in that small area. And the salon is a huge joke. Don't go there if you are looking to get your hair done right. Or at all. The appointments are 3 - 4 out because they are grossly understaffed and under qualified. But that doesn't stop them from charging you like they're qualified and bursting with people to pay to work for them. This place is a mess. Run to Panera. Save your money. I gave them two stars because I like Panera and they're close to them. read more

Bryanna is awesome, she saved me!! I am African American and had a negative styling situation at another ulta location where my hair wasn't finished, and Bryanna swooped in to the rescue! She did a fabulous job flat ironing my natural hair, she was efficient, knowledgeable, and thorough, and it came out gorgeous! She even took extra care to make sure it would hold up well for my outside date by the water with my husband, and it did! Staff is friendly and always Greets customers as they arrive. They often do not have either the product or the color of the product that I need. Not sure I these items are just really popular or if they don't keep a lot of stock. Customer service is helpful when you have questions. They do have a hair salon but I have not used it. Overall the staff was nice but seemed lazy to go in the back to get more beauty bags. I spent $130 and to my understanding you get a bag with alot of products inside. They told me to come back the week after to get it because they were about to close in 15 to 20 minutes. I went in on Thursday only to get a bag with Ulta wipes and a ulta small lip gloss. Wow!!! My best friend went to another Ulta and she was showered with products in a cute bag. Im highly disappointed. While going to pick up the bag i spent another $85 to get a small red Mac bag with nothing in it. I love make up and i deserve my free products. Yesenia was very patient and worked great with my daughter who wiggles around a lot! Good selection of products with a range of price points. However, my low rating is due to the horrible customer service. I am never greeted at the door. I am never asked if I need help finding anything. All of the employees are hanging out with each other having personal conversations instead of trying to actively engage the customers. When I finally ask for help finding things, I am given the run-around and it is obvious they feel inconvenienced by questions. This has been my experience at multiple Ulta locations. It makes it pretty frustrating to shop here and I usually end up leaving without anything and decide to purchase it online from the individual brand instead of supporting a company with such lacking interest in customer service. If customer service isn't an issue for you, they do have a great selection so give it a go. read more

Never had an issues until recently. I understand this store must be a high theft one after my experience. I spend several hundreds a month not only for myself but for my family as well. I went in here on my day off to do some shopping and brought my mother to treat her to anything she wanted. To make a long story short, My mother and I were followed the entire time by security (which I don't really mind because I wasn't stealing) however it did upset my mom. Then when I went to check out the cashier acted like my account wasn't mine because I had almost a hundred dollars in Ulta bucks and made me show my drivers license. The whole experience was very uncomfortable. I now plan on shopping at Sephora and boxy charm. Your loss Ulta.
