I wasn't happy with 2 of my most recent experiences; They called me on my wedding day at 08:40 am to tell me that my Make up appointment at 9 am same day was cancelled m, because the artist isn't available. They tried their best to find someone else from other Ulta at Machesny, thankfully she came at 11 am but she didn't finish until 2 pm with makeup I didn't like neither expect. I am done with Ulta. Coupon can't actually be used "for anything except drug store quality items" per the sales associate. My online order recently had to be refunded along with my "member points" because when I arrived for pick up, the brow liner was actually oit of stock. I was told their inventory must be off. I can't even tell if my points and bank card were properly refunded and it has been nearly 2 weeks. I will pay for high quality makeup & skincare products somewhere else where customer service and inventory control are standards. read more

My expirence with ulta hair salon was not a good one.i had appt to color and highlights and cut.i was still sitting in chair at 6 pm.my appt started at noon.my highlights were splotchy and still had grey underneath.my cut was not like picture I showed her.i had appt on Dec 23, and called manager on the 1st, after Christmas family had left from out of state.The manager said I would have had it corrected within 7 days.Firstly they were closed Christmas, and after explaining if I came in she could clearly see what my hair looked like.She said she could do nothing for me.i called credit company to dispute charges.over 200 dollars, and now I have to make another appt, obviously not at ulta to get it corrected.Bad customer service, and will not ever go there for hair service again.They obviously do not care about their customers, and the managers attitude about helping me was non existant. read more

I can into Ulta today hoping to find someone to help me with getting some good quality make up. I'm not a teen or 20 something. I'm a middle aged woman. I couldn't have bought help if I tried. 3 girls were standing around the front chatting. I went into the store to purchase merchandise, one of the store staff proceeded to spray my 2 other friends stating we smelled of marijuana and that it was illegal to come into the store smelling. Once we were sprayed she got on the intercom asking for the security to check the cameras of the isle we were in. We asked her if we needed to leave and she told us she can make us leave. The staff here are great, HOWEVER, I've never visited an Ulta where so much of their merch had so clearly been tampered with and fingered before buying. This was my second time coming here and both times I came *thisclose* to purchasing a non-tester item that someone had taken it upon themselves to test before me. Luckily their staff caught it at the register both times but that would've sucked to open up my box of $34 face goo and realized that someone had taken a 3-finger swipe of half the product before I had a chance to. And who are these product bandits who are testing handfuls of anti-acne face masks? Are they applying them in public? What's the MO there? So many questions, I have. Again, have to give the staff some major credit for knowing to spot this kind of thing. Also, the store aisles seem a bit cramped and the set up is a little different from my usual Ulta hangs, but they carry a really varied selection and I can't mention enough times how on top of it their staff is. read more

I cant count the times I've been in this Ulta. In my experience it has been pretty well stocked, with some items being low every now and then. For example I was buying a few boxes or hair dye in a specific Feria L'Oreal Blue Black color but they only had 1 and I had to go all over God's creation to find another 2 boxes (I have a lot of hair lol) I have to agree, items are more expensive than drugstores but that's why I don't shop for those products here. I shop drugstore products at Wal Mart or Walgreen's but when I want a certain hair curler or a certain Benefit or Urban Decay Cosmetic it is usually between Ulta and Sephora which are about the same price. They carry a lot of brand name perfumes, nail polishes, hair dyes, hair care, shampoo, hair treatments ,hair tools, makeup tools, etc. The downfall for shopping here: their return policy sucks. They will give you sooo much trouble and jump thru every hurdle for u to return something so hang on to your receipts til you die! read more

The salon staff have done superb work in always helping me decide the best thing for me, among many products and services for men! I'm not a simple man, I enjoy looking look and presenting myself as such, the Rockford Ulta location has helped me create very stylish haircut, facial products and much more! I really enjoy the atmosphere and all the associates who work there, they don't hover or bother you, they are always very helpful when you have question! Gotta love Ulta. My look has actually changed since walking into their store and buying just three products. Big difference from dime store quality. I was nervous about spending this kind of money on makeup, but returns are hassle free, esp. if you have an Ulta card - (purchase info is on file). Being able to demo also minimizes regretful purchases. I have to put in a word about the girls on the floor - So knowledgeable, helpful, nice and approachable, my fave being Erica. read more

They've gotten a lot better with the customer service. It used to be that I hated to go there because the girls were super obnoxious but newer staff changed all that. I especially love the salon. I got amazing help finding everything I needed but when I got in line to check out the cashier was extremely unprofessional and rude. She had a lot of attitude and acted like she just did not want to be there. When I went to give her my rewards member code she didn't scan it and when I was finished she put the receipt into my bag and called for another customer. She didn't say have a nice day or anything. Cannot give different scores for different areas. Beauty salon is excellent and does a marvelous and reliable job. Very pleased with them. Have been back for years now. Such an advantage to be able to travel and get a reliable, difficult hair color wherever you go. Special thanks to the Brookfield, WI, Ulta beautician for the original color. Rockford beautician does just as professional a job. Perfect. In contrast, the brow area in the Rockford store was obnoxious. Constantly trying to foist a service that I did not want -- starting on the telephone, continued through two incredulous, intrusive and pushy technicians. I do not owe you an explanation when I say no and should not have to defend this decision several times. Not pleasant. Regarding Ulta in general -- as your age increases over 40 yrs old, you will feel increasingly alienated by the store displays and set up. If you are closer to 60 yrs old, as I am, you will feel like this store (the Ulta model, not this particular store) was set up to make you feel unwelcome. Most of their products have been opened and tested by customers. It's impossible to find products that haven't been used and their stock is poor with a lot of items that should be there but aren't. They are also much more expensive than Target, other drugstores. I only go there if there is a sale on an item I want and I have a coupon. read more

I rarely shop at Ulta! To be honest, the only reason I went in today was because I had a coupon and there was an eye shadow palette I've been eyeing. When I walked in no one said hello and I had to ask for help. There was a guy working near Lancôme section and he was just ignoring everyone. I found what I was looking for and went to pay. I passed 4 employees, no acknowledgement of any kind from any of them. I had my toy dog, Conan, who has 1 More session to become certified therapy with me yesterday and went in to Ulta to have my eyebrows done. My sister in law was with me. The store was practically empty. The gal that was working the brow bar has ZERO customers, but said she can't do me because I have a dog. My SIL said she would take him out to the car. The brow gal said she still couldn't do me as I have dog fur on me! I explained to her that he is a Papillon, that he doesn't have fur, so no fur dander. He has hair. She still said no. So I said, what if I would have left him in the car, you'd never know I have a dog, and that a lot of people come in the store that have dogs. She still said no. So I told her she was a bitch. I talked to the manager, and she offered me a free service. From her? No thanks. I would steer clear of her. Can't trust people who have a hatred for therapy animals, or any animals.
