WM is the only place I can count on for a great massage. The desk staff is always friendly and their masseuses def. know what they are doing. I've had Jackie before but my most recent trip I had noemi - both were great and really listened to what I needed/want regarding pain points and pressure. I also love coming here because of their spa area. Once you check into your appt. you get a robe and slippers and a key for your own locker. Then they walk you back to where they have the bathrooms, showers, steam room, area to do your hair/makeup and then there's another door to the sanctuary area where you wait for your appt on their comfy couches w/fireplace. Not only am I getting a massage but I can also spend time in the steam room and relax and really feel like I am getting my money's worth! I cannot recommend this place enough!! read more

I had a terrible experience at this salon, primarily due to the actions of Marita. I went in for a simple toner to correct brassiness while keeping some of the blonde for dimension. However, she insisted on lightening my hair further, claiming that toner alone would turn it green. When I tried to clarify what I wanted, she shut me down, saying, "Don't tell me how to do my job." Initially, I thought she was joking, but given how she treated me afterward, I realized she likely wasn't. The next morning, I woke up unable to brush my hair properly. I felt stiff, tangled chunks in the back of my head and immediately called the salon for help. The receptionist booked me an 11:30 AM slot, and I asked to speak with Marita to let her know I was coming (assuming we were still on good terms). Instead, she rudely dismissed me, accused me of wanting a free service, and told me to "just wash it off." I then spoke to another manager, Christina, hoping for better customer service. Unfortunately, she also shut me down, refused to let me come in that day, and told me I'd have to prepay for a future appointment just to be seen. I ended up having to go to another salon, where the stylists confirmed bleach had been left in my hair, causing significant damage and breakage. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles them matters. Instead of taking responsibility, Marita and Christina ignored my concerns and refused to help--leaving me with severely damaged hair. If you value your hair and good customer service, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Had a negative experience last time I had a facial here but it was one incident and a specific person so I gave it some time before coming back to see if things improved. The person I had no longer works there so I was excited and hopeful that my experience would be better. Unfortunately, this recent experience was no better. The visit began with a disappointing start when upon check in we were informed that the steam room was out of order. This is a small business (my sister and I were the only clients in the women's section) and the only spa amenity is a small steam room. There is no sauna, hot tub, salt room etc. The steam room is it and it was closed. Not a good start but whatever things happen and I'm here for the facial. Had Adriana who by all accounts was doing a good facial until about 30 min in after putting the heated cloths on my feet...she said she would be right back and left the room! I have never had someone leave the room during a service anywhere. Usually when they put the hot towels on your feet they work on your hands or massage your neck and shoulders. So this was strange. From my last experience, where the esthetician kept leaving the wet towels on my face and sat in the room without touching me until the cloths got cold, I expected to not have it happen again. Unfortunately the same thing happened. Don't know if this esthetician had to use the restroom, felt sick or what but she was gone for a while. I was left in the room with the wet towels on my feet and nothing else being done while she was gone. She was gone for about 5-7 minutes and when the appt is only so long, any time there are "no hands on" is time that is lost during the service. It could have been spent giving a neck and shoulder massage which I never received. I've always had the neck and shoulder massage performed with a facial and I believe was meant to be performed as I was told by the front desk to remove the bra because a neck and shoulder massage was included. The esthetician leaving mid appt resulted in the service being stalled and her not having time to complete the neck and shoulder massage. She was gone so long that when she finally did come back in the room the wet cloths from my feet were cold. There was no apology and she didn't even extended the appointment later for the minutes she was gone to make up the time. As if time wasn't lost enough, when she returned she then put cream on my face and then let it sit on my face for another couple of minutes without touching me or continuing to do something while it was on. It almost felt like she was just trying to use up the time during the 60 min session to just get through the duration. I kept moving to let her know that I was awake in case she thought I was asleep and wanted to take advantage by doing nothing. Still she continued to sit and do nothing. It's like if you felt sick maybe stay at home or put me with someone else. Because to me it felt like she wasn't all in and not doing her best. When the session was complete I mentioned my disappointment to the front desk. Truly, for the 60 min session, it felt more like it was a rushed 45 min session. I was told that a manager would contact me when next they were working. The business is open Tues-Sat. I went in on Saturday so I expected to hear back at least by Thursday or latest Friday. In addition, I filled out their internal survey to also explain my experience in writing and notify them directly. It's been more than a week since my service and survey and I have yet to receive a reply. I was holding off on writing on this forum in hopes that they would reach out to me privately but since they didn't seem to want to respond to the private survey only they see, I am writing on this public forum where they seem to see reviews, to ensure that they correct these issues so no one else has the same experience. I've gotten over 20 facials in my life and have never had the experiences like I've had at this local establishment. I live in Chicago and am used to state of the art spa facilities and impeccable services. This day and age when money is tight, it's a splurge to spend time and money on a nonessential expense like a facial. So when I do and the experience is not the best, it's really disappointing. I had a negative experience the first time. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried a second time with no better results. I will not be returning for a third time. They have lost mine and my sister's business. The old days when they were called Weiss Morris Day Spa and the service was exceptional are gone. This place used to be so great but sometimes things do not get better over time. Frequent staff turnover, broken facilities, inconsistent estheticians and bizarre inservice practices are all I need to move on. So I'm done paying for mediocre services from WM Day Spa. I will instead exclusively receive my spa services from the exceptional spas and professional estheticians we have in the big city. read more

I went for a blowout on 9/10, the stylist was 25 min late bringing me back and I left with my hair looking like I had flipped my head upside down and blow dried it myself. I came in because I was in town for a wedding-the stylist used no product, and my hair was limp as ever when I left. I told the stylist I could have done better doing it myself, that it looked terrible and I was unhappy. She did nothing but say the charge would be $46. I would never go back to this salon or refer it to anyone. read more

So I wasn't going to do this until the stylist was confronted and refused to take accountability. I was gifted a package here by one of my bridesmaids two days before my wedding. I want to first start by saying I highly recommend the spa side, my facial and massage were incredible. However I got my nails done for my upcoming wedding. She made me bleed several times on several fingers (I've had my nails done plenty of times and never had this problem) but she acknowledged that and apologized while I was in the chair. The finished product was poor quality but she seemed inexperienced and I did not think she'd be able to correct them. When I showed my friend she told me I should get them redone because it's my wedding, which I did. She called to resolve the issue and the tech told her she "refused" to "apologize for something she didn't do." I wasn't concerned about a refund or anything although it wasn't my money. My negative review is not even about money, the poor quality job, the bleeding, or anything else really but actually because for a professional to behave that way and place blame on someone else (the people who fixed my nails) - especially knowing she acknowledged each time I started bleeding and commented on it is very disappointing. I will do the courtesy of not name dropping the tech because she was very sweet to me, although she was not to my friend leading me to believe she may just lack the maturity to take accountability. I just hope this employee behavior is addressed so she can have a successful future satisfying customers instead of upsetting them. I can't say enough about how amazing this place is. The salon is gorgeous and clean, the staff is all wonderful, and my stylist was so sweet and did a terrific job. The pricing was incredibly reasonable and the results were fantastic. I left trying to decide if an hour and forty-five minutes was a reasonable drive to make in the future to visit again. I come in specifically for massages (though they also do hair and nails). I don't have a ton of experience with them, but I will say that WM is a very relaxing atmosphere with great facilities, and offers a tranquil experience. Always nice to get a nice steam bath and shower prior to the massage. I go to Jackie as my massage therapist and I admit she makes the visit very relaxing and comfortable. I will be doing more subsequent visits. It is a pricey option in my opinion but at least on par with similar services, and from what I understand provides a better atmosphere read more

I was gifted a facial and a massage for my birthday. I arrived early and was greeted by the receptionist who took my license in exchange for a locker key, and led back to the women's locker room area where I was given a robe and slippers to change into. I was early, so she turned on the steam room, so I could take advantage of it. It was amazingly relaxing. I then took a seat by the quietly serene fireplace with specialty teas and flavored waters. I grabbed a glass of water while a waited.Soon Carla called me back for my facial. What a wonderful experience it was! Her fingers were so light, and my skin felt so hydrated. She gave me a couple of recommendations and directed me back to the serene fireplace waiting room to wait for my massage. She offered more flavored water, and soon the masseuse came, and I can't recall her name, she did a nice job. Although it was bit distracting and sounded as if she either had a cold or suffered allergies. She was coughing and sniffling the whole time. In all it was a wonderful gift. There are showers with professional products in them, towels and hair appliances available to help you get ready to face the day after you've been reduced to a wet noodle. Talk about relaxing...NOT! She attempted small chit chat but it was very generic. Overall I loved the hair cut she gave me. She listened very well to what I wanted and didn't complain when I askedfor something. Also when i called to make an appointment I thought I had the wrong answer because I just heard giggling in the background. My cut was $35 though they did not tell me why. This was my second visit for a massage. The first one was not good but I decided after a year, to give it another try with a different therapist. While they present themselves as a premium spa, it is not worth it. The locker room is tiny and not very clean or well appointed. The massage rooms have very thin walls and you can hear everyone talking, so it's not very relaxing. I had the hot stone massage. It was just ok, my neck and shoulders were not relaxed after the treatment. I mentioned the noise and lack of satisfaction on the massage to the manager. She listened to me but did nothing. This is one place that is consistent in the quality with their spa services. Their facials are outstanding! All of the estheticians are experienced and have a vast knowledge of my skin type and their products. The messages, hydrotherapy, body services, waxing are all excellent. The spa staff is consistently professional and courteous. I did get my hair shampooed and flat ironed and it was not a pleasant experience at all. When I made my appointment, I asked for their senior stylist who is experienced with my curly hair texture. The girl that I got was very inexperienced and the salon staff made me feel extremely uncomfortable as they made comments and looked on. The gal kept saying, "it is so curly, it is so curly" as if that's a bad thing. The manicures are just ok and the pedicures are good. I have had several. The Mani and Pedi at Asha are better. I love the spa environment and its amenities. It is a great place to go at least 30 minutes prior to spa services and just relax. Spa prices are expected. Prices for products are expensive and they do a good job of "selling." I can go online and purchase products sometimes 40% less than what they are asking. However, I still end up with a bag full of products when I leave! If I'm going to disrobe and get rubbed down by a complete stranger, they better do a good job.... and they always do at Weis Morriss. I have had many massages by many different people here and my hands down favorites are Kelly and Raeann. They've all had skilled hands, professional attitudes and stellar work ethic; however, these two ladies provided experiences that stood out to me. The spa is always quiet, relaxing and clean. My only constructive comment is that sometimes the steam room is not working- it would be nice if someone called to tell you that the day of the appointment if it is not available. I always go early to take advantage of the steam room and have arrived, on occasion, to it being out of order.... which makes my heart sad. I decided to splurge and get a no chip manicure because hey its my wedding i want these nails to last through my honeymoon! I went on Friday and they guaranteed me that the polish would last at least 10 days. By my reception Saturday afternoon they were already starting to chip! By that Tuesday i already had 2 nails without polish. When I went in after my honeymoon to complain they didn't seem very concerned but told me to fill out a complaint form and the manager would contact me asap...it has been NINE months and i have heard nothing!!! I have been going to WM (formerly Weiss Morris) Day Spa, for several years, for massages. I have had some fantastic and some not so great massages. Today I had the best massage I have ever had (I always do the hydrotherm massage). Windy was my massage therapist, and she was outstanding! I will definitely request her again. The only problem I have with WM Day Spa is that massage therapists seem to come and go, often (hopefully Windy stays around)! OMG YES!!! Brandi! Liz! AMAZING! So, I don't do my own make up very well, and I was going to a wedding. I wanted to feel beautiful. That is EXACTLY what I asked Liz to do, "Make me look beautiful." She WAY WAY WAY delivered! She explained what she was doing, why she picked the colors she did (because I asked), and she made me gorgeous. I got my make up done @ 1000, and I left the wedding at 11pm. There was NO need to fix my make up AT ALL. I sweat like a small farm animal, and it still stayed! They use high quality make up and you have the option to purchase, and application was totally reasonably priced!! YAY LIZ!!! I can't leave out Brandi. Brandi did a beautiful blow out to my hair with soft curls. My hair is fine, thin and very soft. This translates to VERY difficult to hold a curl. Brandi was able to make my hair stay, without being crunchy!! These lady's are A-MAZING. So friendly, so professional. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience here. I was referred by a friend for a haircut. Upon arriving at the business, I was greeted by a friendly customer service associate who checked me in for my appointment. I had a very short wait until my stylist Macy K. came up to bring me back to her chair. She gave me a nice cup of herbal tea and sat me down while she asked me what I wanted done with my hair. Macy took her time and gave me one of the nicest haircuts I have ever had. I never felt rushed and she displayed great skill with the scissors and the other implements. She even went so far as to give me a nice scalp massage while she was shampooing my hair and a very nice shave of the nape of my neck with conditioner or lotion... something I had never had before, even at salons that charged me twice as much for a haircut. The entire experience was very pleasant, from the ambience of the surroundings to the friendliness of the staff. And I was even more pleasantly surprised when I paid the bill to discover that this haircut cost me HALF of what I was accustomed to paying in Chicago. Apparently I made a mistake. I quickly called the salon thinking they would help me fix it. Um, no. Beautiful establishment! I get my hair cut there and my girl is amazing!! The only reason I don't rate this place higher is mostly pricing. Each service provider has a different rate, but if you book a future appointment before you leave and prices change in the mean time, no one informs you. It feels like every time I go in for a pedicure or haircut, the price has increased by $5. More often than not the price I pay is different that what they quoted me over the phone. And I've had requested nail techs switched on me before without letting me know, and the new nail tech is at a higher rate than the one I wanted in the first place. Also, my pedicures are typically decent, but any manicures I've received have been sub par. The no chip I had didn't look that great once I got home and really looked at it, and it chipped not long after. If you get nails done, go with a higher star girl and just pay more or you won't get what you want. As far as hair, I've always had great results. My girl Stephanie does a beautiful job and I always get compliments! I recommend adding a treatment to your cut! It makes my hair soo soft and shiny and helps to strengthen it! read more

She requested a facial only to find out they charged her an additional $30.00 because a "level 3" person provided the service. There was no mention of the additional charge when the appointment was made - so my gift ended up costing my struggling friend money out of her pocket. I am really surprised by all the negative reviews here. I live in Chicago and still come back to Rockford to get my hair done here and I just recently got a massage at WM too. I have been very pleased by the inviting environment and treatment while I've been there. I've worked with mutiple stylists and colorists and have felt this across the board, however I have found someone that most fits what I like, in terms of cut and color, as well as personality (should out to Kayla!! The girl can rock the ombre :)) My spa experience was excellent as well. The waiting area was glorious and relaxing and the massage itself was better than most I've had. read more

The shower room is really nice, and I love all the hair products for use. The locker room is wonderful. Plenty clean wash clothes and towels scented lightly like lavender. Sooo relaxing. The steam room is super as well. My complaint is, when im paying $55-60 for a facial at 11 am, I expect it to start at 11 am. They come get you from the fireplace room at 11, and then you undress and talk over the procedure. Kind of irritating. They should get you 5 mins early and you fully get what you pay for. That's money wasted in my opinion and ripping off the customer. I've been to other salons before, and they have a better practice of getting the client 2-3 minutes early. I understand it's minor, but if I'm paying for a 45 minute facial, I expect a 45 minute facial, not 40. And they do not work past the clock. It doesn't matter if your facial is supposed to be over at 11:45 even though they started 5 minutes late. There is a clock in the room so you can see clearly the start and finish time.
