10.19 25 Just had my very first bad experience at thisUlta. I wont hold it against them because everyone has bad days. There is a new young lady working the benefit bar and I had an appointment to get my eyebrows waxed and tinted. I wanted a little longer processing timd per their guidelines Ive seen before when getting services done there in the past. I shared with her Ulta's policy and she didn't like that and I believe that hurt her feelings. You would of thought I asked her to give me all her money. Long story short after talking to the merchandise manager and the general manager Jacob Boney I believe, they refused to service me. Not my intent at all. PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR CLIENTS! I went in for a haircut with Savannah, I told her I'm 4 months postpartum and just needed to cut the dead ends, have some long layers and a little bit of face framing. Without my consent, she went in and decided to give me what she called "a long shag". It is very choppy, v-shaped in the back, and the front is not even on both sides. She made it look okay when she styled it, but I am a MOM I don't have time for a high maintenance haircut. I can barely wash my face daily! She did not show me how to style it. I'm now very insecure about wearing my hair down and I'm very limited on what I can do with it putting it up because the front is so short it falls out of a ponytail and looks awful when left out of a ponytail. She was talking so fast the entire time about her personal life, it makes me wonder if she was paying attention to my needs and to making sure everything looked blended. Postpartum is such a vulnerable time and now I feel worse looking in the mirror, not how I wanted to feel after a cut. read more

She was eager to help us and went above and beyond to look for the product we were looking for. The store was out of stock, but she did not come back empty handed. Walked in to grab some Bare Minerals and realized I had no clue what shade I used, having just switched to this brand. Clearly looking lost, scanning my email for all things Ulta I was approached by a beautiful, purple loving chick with purple hair streaks and a purple jacket. She guided me toward a shade she felt was appropriate for my skin tone even though I knew it wasn't what I had last purchased. She advised that everything in "her store" had a 60 day money back guarantee. She said If I don't like it after using it for weeks, return or exchange it. She was so pleasant! While I had her attention, I discussed some facial dry spots that were resistant to moisturizers. She introduced me to Propolis which I have now been using for a week and no longer have the dryness. Years I have been fighting those little dry spots! Also, the shade of foundation she advised, perfection!!! Anywho, I got to the counter and asked if the woman in purple was the manager and the girl lit up. She said her name was Jennifer and that she was the best manager she has ever had. That speaks volumes for a store manager, that her staff would speak so highly of her, so naturally. After such a great experience I think I'll return to a regular status at Ulta. My only critique about this store is that they don't allow you to use so many gift cards at once. I received a bunch of Ulta gift cards at Christmas knowing I wanted to switch up my routine and I tried to use them to purchase $300+ in products. It was a total pain having to split the purchase into 3 to use all the Ulta brand gift cards, NOT coupons. I arrived at my eyebrow appointment time at the time I was scheduled only to be told after she finally decided to acknowledge me that she was more concerned about going home early and having time to clean up then sticking to her client appointments. It was suggested for me to reschedule for the next day with promises of making it right. I told them I was leaving out of town the next day and it'd be too hectic to try to take the 35min drive back to there. I scheduled and tried to anyways but there is no flexibility in her schedule. I told her this was becoming impossible to get done and I don't even know what to do anymore and in return she was like " I cancelled you already" and I was like dang you were fast to do that because I didn't even say to cancel yet. I was hoping after yesterday with choosing not to do my scheduled appointment she would offer some flexibility but she did not and it was evident she didn't care. On top of that she was trying to deny my discount by the manager saying that wasn't a conversation she was part of and knew nothing about it That's actually when I remembered her. Her name is Jaylin and she did my eyebrows once before and claimed the tint is a free add on service she provides but when I washed it off the next day I saw why she did it... my eyebrows were so incredibly thin and it was cut short at the end. Say I received a shipment the address label is to me there's only one product that had to be picked and it's the wrong product for an unfortunate women who lives in New York who also did not receive what she ordered. When I called Ulta's customer service I get the usual brooked English operator who's first concern is about my returning this particular product to them without even asking me if I had received my product and then tells me they are now shipping it to me and it should be 8 to 10 business days when I said I would think that that product should be expedited to me she said I don't have the ability to do that because I've already processed it. She was sweet and knowledgeable and explained everything and for the icing on the cake - she has served our country! Love me some Sam. And just when I thought my experience had piqued, I met Eliza in the salon for my hair appointment. What a doll! She is working to build clientele, and she is legit worth it! She knows what she's doing. She took a boring brunette to a striking and fully highlighted fifty-something. I get compliments everywhere I go - even from those in the same industry! We set a hair appointment for my Mom and got there almost 20 min early. Anthony told our lady that we were there already. She was mixing colors in front of us but had no intension to greet us or update us. At 5.05 she returns from the back with a customer and starts cutting her hair and obviously needed a blowdry and all that. Not once did she turn around to at least say "sorry i am running behind, do you want to browse in the store" or something! It seemed like another lady who was the manager noticed so i said we have a 5 o clock and it does not seem that she is anywhere close to be ready. No apologies, nothing, only thing asked "do you want to re schedule" ehmmmm no thanks! Never again. Wow, I'm speechless! I booked a 60 minute appointment at 2pm on a Saturday during their beauty event weekend! They were packed, but that didn't slow the girls down at MAC. They got me in at my scheduled time, and still answered all questions walk up costumers had. Breonna---- this girl knows her stuff! This is a brand new ulta and as it should be the store is nice and clean. The parking lot is also extremely spacious so no trouble finding parking. As you walk-in the prestige items are to the right of the store and regular products are all to the right. The staff is generally helpful. On my trip the cashier assisted me with picking out a new cleanser trio from Clinique for acne prone skin. As I checked out the manager checked me out and bagged everything up and I left the store. However, to be honest I prefer other beauty stores beaus the staff is more genuine. Overall this store deserves an A-. The store is large and beautiful with plenty of products and the parking lot is spacious. Pitfalls, the staff is generally nice but most of the time their is an underlying attitude as you are being helped. read more

I k ow that on the outside I am flawed faced with dry hair. But WOW the folks at Ulta know how to through the cold shoulder. It took 45 minutes before I was asked if I needed help. I smiled and said no. No reason to be rude back, right? I also got the feeling that I was being watched. I had two items and wandered around a bit and the couple of times I passed a sales associate they would mutter into their mics. When I checked out the sales associate said something to another about one of the customers. I mean it was Mean Girls in there today. Think I'm being silly? I walked I to an aisle with a sales associate putting things away and she didn't even say hi. Didn't even look at me. Ouch! So I'm self conscious about my skin and my hair. But coming up to me and saying hi how are you and have you heard about such and such special event today or this and that are on sale would most likely get you a sale. But when you decide that someone isn't worth your time you lose out. I wish other folks would say no to Ulta because if their bad customer service. Stand with your neighbors and let them know that they could do a better job. Also, clean up your store. Dang it is messy in there. Stuff is just tossed everywhere. I might as well be back in 5 Below looking at their make up with the care that was shown in this store. Also, maybe not clean the AC vents while the store is open. I was matching my own foundation at a station with a mirror and a BRILLIANT sales associate decides that would be the best place to sit down another customer, despite there being an open station ONE AISLE OVER. I know that not everyone that works a minimum wage job has their doctoral degree but this rudeness and lack of common sense struck a new low. I felt uncomfortable finishing my matching so I just left without buying anything. The sales associate was a white woman and had shoulder length brown hair. This store is usually kind of messy--some of the samples are never replaced or cleaned so there's like broken eyeshadow and gross smudges all over. I started shopping online more and more because it's a much more pleasurable experience than trying to navigate this overly crowded store. Sephora is usually laid out much nicer--they have larger aisles and smarter sales associates. :) read more

Parking was a breeze with their large parking lot. Multiple employees stopped me to ask if I was finding everything I needed. I'm really thrown by some of these reviews so I'm going to hit a few points. Made-up or bare: I have been in this store both with a full face of make up and completely bare. Every time I was helped and asked if I needed help. I do tend to make eye contact and smile so maybe that makes the difference?? My last trip my hair was looking very neglected. I asked for help with a hair care question. The woman jumped up to help me, gave me excellent advice and recommended a product (that I love) and did not condescend or try to offer unnecessary "help" with me looking so rough. To use the mirror or not use the mirror: it is my understanding that if a staff member is helping a customer with a product they will be at the mirrors/tables in that particular brand's area. This may mean they will be working near you but please don't feel you are being chased off! Are you a thief: Some of the products (perfumes???) seem to set off alarms. I have no idea why. When we set off the alarm (on our first visit) staff came running. I took it as to stop the alarm from bothering everyone more than because they actually thought we were stealing something. Just be aware you might set off an alarm. Are tutorials worth it: YES!!!!! My daughter and I worked with Christine in the MAC section. She was very fun to work with and listened to what we both wanted. She is a wealth of knowledge and really has an eye for color!! I am considering doing a second tutorial with her. Do not go here for an updo. Spent over 3 hours in the salon, hair still doesn't look too good. Molly is AMAZING with makeup but I am very, very unhappy with my hair. The first time, it was literally plastered to my head with hair spray.. Molly did what she could to save it but we are now over an hour late to the military ball. I am so upset. Lots of money goes into these things & there is no reason I should have spent over 3 hours in there! Will never ever return to ulta for hair & will only go for makeup if Molly is available. I made an appointment the day of and was thankful that they could fit in. When I came in, the stylist couldn't find me in the system even though I just made the appointment an hour or so ago. Fine- I was told that she would sit this walk-in client down and then get to me. What she didn't clarify was that she was actually going to work on the client and then take me! I waited another 10-15 minutes and no one came to get me. Only when I started making calls to other places, she came back to me and said she'll take me in another 15-20 minutes when the other person was done! In short, buyer beware! I'm kinda torn because I love ulta and makeup so much and I was so excited when this one opened because I wouldn't have to drive all the way into Savannah anymore but I was disappointed with how unfriendly the employees are here and at first the shelves were neatly organized and they had everything but now when you go in there, half the shelves in the "drugstore" makeup section are EMPTY. There is no L'Oréal makeup right now because it's completely BARE and it's like that with a few other brands too. They're in no hurry to fix that at all. Now there are a select few employees in there who are always friendly especially the ones who work for MAC but I can't say the same for the majority of the employees. They make you feel like you're bothering them or being a hindrance even thought they're literally doing NOTHING. It might just be best if I go back to the one in Savannah the next time I need or want something because they've always been friendly at that store and it's HUGE. One more thing about this Ulta in Pooler is that right around 8:15-8:30 they shut the music off so it's dead quiet in there like they're trying to tell everyone to get out so they can go home early. It makes you feel very unwelcome and they do it every single day. I adore ulta so much, just not the way this one is ran. It needs help. read more

I work nearby and visit this location often when I leave work. I walked in around 6:45, I did not know their holiday hours had changed and that they now closed at 7, which wouldn't have been a problem at all. I work retail and understand that things need to be done at close and it's inconvenient for customers to stick around. No one greeted me when I walked in so no one told me, and the old hours were still posted on the door by the safety signs so I genuinely had no idea. I walk around and have a few things in my hands, and the associates were in the front of the store talking to each other. All of a sudden I hear "there's people in here, don't they know we close at 7?" I did not know, so I grabbed my phone to check the time and see that it's 7:03. Before I could rush to the front a woman approached me in a very condescending tone and said "we're closed, and I'd like to go home." I was immediately uncomfortable so I went to put my item back and as I was walking to the door the woman had to unlock it! She had locked the door while my husband and I were shopping, and no one said a thing to us. I was extremely embarrassed and uncomfortable and I will not be returning. read more

Paula is literally awesome. My hair is naturally a dark brown, and I wanted to go to a purple. She knew exactly what I was talking about, and even mixed three different colors (purple, royal purple, royal blue) to get the right shade. Even after having my hair bleached for the purple, it still feels as soft as ever. I would totally recommend Paula any day. She made me feel right at home the entire time. read more

My hair cut turned out reasonably well (though I still think one side is longer than the other...). However, I brought in a picture of a stacked inverted bob, Paula initially only cut it like a standard bob, even asking her to cut the back more it still had minimal stack to it. I would also think for $48 for a cut and style that it might also include a shampoo. I was also charged an additional $11 for her to swipe the flat iron through my hair 4-5 times. She did give me a coupon as a first time customer, but seriously, I get my hair cut infrequently and for that cost I would have expected more. I am unhappy with my experience at the salon today. I was nervous about getting my hair done from someone new but was told that Paula was great so I booked an appointment. I was getting a few inches off my hair so it was a pretty dramatic change and walked in really excited. I asked for collarbone length hair, like the two example pictures that I showed her. My hair barely brushes my shoulders. Then she overcharged me. I booked my appointment as just a haircut and style ($38) and was charged for the signature haircut and style ($48). She's already $10 more expensive than the other stylists at the location, I'm guessing because she's the salon manager. I never received the deep conditioning treatment that I paid 10 extra dollars for. I didn't realize it until I had already paid and left. Paula did a great job of the actual cut and has great skills, but it just wasn't what I wanted or asked for. But I'm starting to like it and I know it'll grow back. I probably won't be going back, and I see that other people have had problems with Paula overcharging as well. read more

As A loyal and long time Ulta shopper, one who rarely walks out with less than a 200 dollar bill, I for the first time ever walked out of the Pooler store, empty handed. So, I called ahead of time to make sure they had a product line I was looking for, I was told they did and carried on my happy way 45 minutes to Pooler. When I got there, I was greeted by the cashier as always and is the practice at Ulta. But then, to my surprise there was a MAC counter ( good news bad news love the product I cant understand what the hiring criteria is,for MAC girls- it does not seem to be pleasant and engaging attitude). Here is where things begin to go poorly. The Ulta employee who was hanging around the MAC station asked if she could help, I told her what I was looking for and she said No, while they carried the skin care, they did not carry the make up. With this, she suggested another line, that I was not interested in. She turned and walked away from me- poof gone. I figured I had driven long enough to get there, SURELY there was some other item I had wanted as a need or a guilty pleasure. The employees at Ulta Pooler, were chatting among themselves, and attending to each other, rather than attending to their jobs. Very disappointed. Come on ladies, noone is asking you to do anything beyond being nice. my $$$ will be spent elsewhere. read more

Nothing like a perky guy named Stephen telling you how nice your skin is(but a little dry) and that you have a great natural eyebrow shape, to put a little pep in your step. :P He showed me some great moisturizer and told me that the Tarte ShapeTape concealer(that I was looking at) would not be good for my 'dry' skin, so he showed me a great hydrating concealer by MAC. A few of the workers there also raved over my 5-year-old daughter, Cassie's, eyes and told her how pretty she was. She was beaming and blushing. They made her day! Thanks, Stephen! read more
