I have had great service as well as extreme compassion and empathy with the Salon staff at Ulta Patchogue location. As I presently struggle with autoimmune Alopecia hair issues, for sure that can be very emotionally devastating to women. From the first encounter I had with Amanda (a salon assistant) she was so uplifting and supportive and recommended a satin pillowcase which I bought and recommend! I am not the one to write a review, but when something is really terrible, I would like the rest of society to know this way they don't waste their money or time. I just got my hair done by Hailey at ulta in Patchogue who is apparently their "master stylist" and has lots of experience, I beg to differ!! I went to get my roots covered because my grays were showing and I needed something quick because my hairdresser was extremely booked. so I figured how hard can it be to cover grays on dark brown roots. Well, apparently it was VERY difficult for hailey. She added copper into my hair dye solution without asking me when I specifically said, I hated orange colored tones in my hair. When she washed my hair out the first time it was completely orange the roots of my hair, and the rest of my hair was JET black. naturally I freaked out she told me that I needed to relax. I told her that she needed to fix this. she proceeded to make a concoction of "express root cover up" and place it in my roots. As she washed out the SECOND wash she was ripping the hair from the nape of my neck and burned my scalp with the piping hot water and didnt even apologize. As she washed out the second dye job she said it was so much better and all fixed. I took a look in the mirror and my roots were still orange and I said are you kidding me this is still orange. She went over to an older woman who worked there and asked for advice, WHICH she should've done the first time. She then said that I needed Ash put into the dye so she did it a third time to fix it. I figured third times a charm. She burnt my scalp once again with the hot water, and was pulling the hair out of my neck and scalp. this was honestly pure abuse, when she washed it out she said it was back to normal. I got to the chair my roots were fucking red. I told her I wanted to go home but she insisted she blow dry my hair. She BURNT MY SCALP AGAIN with the blow dryer and got my hair stuck in the blow dryer. She proceeded to charge me $129 for this terrible job. I paid and I accidentally pressed tip on the screen and the woman at the front desk said she wasn't able to take it off because she didn't know how to. apparently nobody knows how to do anything at the . The following day I had to go get my hair fixed by my hairdresser and I went back to get a refund. I have to say I was happy with Sarah the manager who was able to refund me, but I was in shock at how terrible the treatment was at the salon, do yourself a favor and don't get your hair done at Ulta or done by Hailey. i have photos if I can attach them I will. read more

I went to Ulta in Patchogue to look at different colognes. Julia was not only extremely nice and helpful, she also was very knowledgeable with the different fragrances. A few times I even felt bad when I've smelled just about every cologne for men there was, but Julia did NOT mind helping me. I did purchase a new cologne and I will 100% be going back to get another cologne when the time comes. 10/10 recommend getting the help from Julia in that department. read more

Some customer service was nice and helpful for my girlfriend. But as I shopped the store alone I was followed and constantly asked what I was doing rather then how can I help. I expressed that I was just browsing the store and I work for a company that sells cosmetics. She followed me down 4 more isles after that and was within 1 foot of me as I was looking through the products. Chelsea at the salon in the Ulta Patchogue store is fabulous! She did an beautiful job on my 11 year old daughters hair! And my daughter has ALLOT of hair so it was no easy kid cut! It was my daughters first real haircut aside from getting it trimmed so my daughter was a little nervous but Chelsea quickly made her very comfortable! She listened to what we were looking to achieve and was so pleasant and helpful and adviced us on how to keep the length but give her hair more of a style. And she nailed it! She is a very talented stylist! I will definitely be going back to her! And my 5 year old daughter wants her hair cut by Chelsea as well. The woman at the order pick up was kind of rude. She reminded me of one of the rude secretary's that you come into contact with in an elementary school. Their curbside parking is terrible, otherwise I would have parked there. The spot is not big enough to park a car in, so I was forced to go into the store in the pouring rain. I left my purse in the car. I verified my full name, and the contents of what was in the order. The woman then quizzed me asking me what kind of cologne it was. I gave her the information. She seemed reluctant to give me my order and then said I'll give it to you this time but next time you have to bring your ID and order number. I feel if you can verify your full name and exactly what's in the order it should be permissible. She just wanted to give me a hard time in the rain storm. If I bought something you better believe I'm picking it up. Make your curbside parking better so people don't have to come into the store and talk to you. read more

I have never been a fan of Ulta. In the past, they have always been rude and condescending. I normally stick with Sephora. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I had to give Ulta another shot when I was looking for particular items. This location has changed my opinion. The girls that were in there today were super friendly. One sales associate on the floor even made a point to come over to complement me on my hair, which impressed me. This store is well stocked, and their prices are competitive. They provide a fast checkout. I will definitely return for future purchases. read more

The receipt said my cashier's name was Hope. She totally went out of her way to help me with a simple purchase of a shower hat for $5. I wanted a particular type and coldn't find it. Went in to get keratin treatment for myself and my son.I also had my roots done.Over $400 between the bill and tips. We both look like we didn't wash our hair for a month. We both tried washing it figuring maybe that would help. It did not. We use sulfate free, sodium chloride free shampoo and conditioner. I know how to take care of a keratin treatment. The girl was nice, but this is the worst keratin I've ever had. Your hair is Supposed to be shiny and manageable not greasy and dirty looking. After 2 1/2 hours in the chair, another entire day trying to get in touch with the right manager, offering to send pictures of our hair. They wanted us to come back again. Neither one of us has any desire to sit back in their chair again or have them put any more chemicals in our hair. They should've offered some kind of compensation For the inconvenience. Not trying to inconvenience us even more. Nobody wants to spend three days dealing with the same issue, just want us to come back in and inconvenience us further on my sons one day off!!!!!. Needless to say we won't be back. I don't mind paying for a service if it's good. This is just not OK. I will provide the pictures here. My hair looked better before I went in there. read more

I've worked at Ulta in the salon as a master designer for 17 years. I recently resigned from my position due to many reasons, management being a big part of my decision. The corporation itself is a typical corporation., just worried about the bottom line as far as money. Two years ago the salon had a receptionist, salon manager, as well as an assistant manager. The corporation decided to change management to a service manager, who would be the salon manager, as well as the prestige manager. Managing both departments, of course is not successful. One is service and the other is retail. Unfortunately New York doesn't require a salon manager to have a cosmetology licence. That decision is very unfair to the manager and the salon. In managing a salon you have to have salon experience, otherwise, how do you support something you have no experience in. Some of the cosmetologists that already worked in the salon for many years applied for the assistant manager position. The GM, decided it would be better to hire someone from the outside, then to give one of the stylists that were there many years a chance.. We had approximately 8 to 10 stylist working, most of which were there over 10 years. The stylists were so unhappy with being left with an assistant that could not do the job, they all but 3 resigned. I personally stayed because I needed the health insurance. I tried very hard to be positive , but with no help and so few stylist it became impossible. When I finally made the very hard decision to resign, I went into my GM office and told her this is my last day. Her response was okay. I could not believe I worked so hard and I was dependable and I tried to make things better and all my GM said was okay. I responded with oh okay and she said well I knew you weren't happy , so I knew you were going to leave , I just didn't know when. So after 17 years of working for this GM that's what I got, not sorry to hear your leaving , you were always a dependable employee. Not maybe I should have spoken to you when I started to see how unhappy you were becoming, just okay. Extremely hurtful and uncalled for. If this is the way she treats her employees. No wonder everyone decided to leave. I don't understand why the corporate office wouldn't look into why such a large amount of stylist resigned pretty much at once. I was made to feel my 17 years were nothing and no one should have to feel that way. Shame on the GM for not knowing how to do an exit interview, without obviously showing her personal feelings about me. read more

So I had to share a little bit about this great experience I had today at the Ulta Salon and store in Patchogue. It was my first day off from work in a while and I needed some serious R&R and found out that Ulta was doing a special on their full Dermalogica skin treatment for the month. I was a bit skeptical, because I'll fully admit I was a real spa snob who would only ever haul into the city for my favorite aestheticians - but times are tough and I wanted to stay close to home. I tried making an appointment at another location but their aesthetician was out until the weekend, so Patchogue gave me the hook up with an appointment an hour after i called. So my aesthetician's name was Diane. I'm saying that because I think you should request her. The service itself was stellar - high grade products that I already know and love and the whole shebang - we're talking an hour double cleansing, steaming, exfoliation, extractions, mask, etc plus shoulder rub, hand and foot massage. She was so soothing, so attentive, and knew just how to work my skin. I felt and looked glowing and radiant after There's currently a special at Ulta for 20$ off the normal price so get there while the going is good. Thanks Ulta. It was perfect. One star is too many. GF went there for haircut, foul-mouthed middle age woman did an awful job. She went today 10/13/19 and they were having some sort of cancer event and $20 cuts. I guess you get what you pay for. Folks, if they ever have a cancer event/special, don't bother going because they obviously resent doing cuts for $20 and do a crap job. I was going to call instead of writing a review; but calling didn't work out as planned. Went to Ulta in Patchogue on my lunch break to grab my mom and I mascara; she went behind the counter and grabbed me one. I didn't think to double check the packaging.... when I got back to work I took out the mascara and the top of the box was broken off and then scotch taped back together, as I took off the top of the mascara to look at the product the top of the brush was broken and the mascara was dried out and obliviously used. When I called; the woman said a customer probably tampered with it because we don't put back used makeup. Yeah okay.... it's dry as hell and there's no mascara inside ‍ and one star for the poor customer service when I called! read more

A few months ago, I got a balayage at this salon and I really was pleased. Keep in mind, I have very naturally dark brown hair. My first go at it was satisfactory, but I had no idea that I could really be THRILLED until today! Today was my first time meeting Jacki with my now dry, sun-damaged, and brassy hair. I showed her a picture of a wonderful cool blonde balayage and she completely full-filled my every want!! I also asked for a "trim" which most hair dressers take liberty with (since my hair is usually very damaged) and she did exactly what I wanted by not taking off more than I asked for. I went to ulta today in search of finding products for my severe acne. I was also looking for a great foundation to try to hide these blemishes. I was greeted by a beautiful young woman names Shy and not only did she go above and beyond for me she was an absolute angel. She made sure all the bushes she used were super clean along with finding me a wonderful cleanser and foundation. I am mind blown at how wonderful she was and I will be back to see Shy so she could help me some more. She even took the time to show me how to apply the make up properly.
