Not a fan of this place. It is clean and nice on the inside and people are friendly. However I had called a requested a young stylist who knew how to cut curtain bangs (i had curtain bangs already but they were grown out and I needed them trimmed) (I had also requested a young person so that they were familiar with the style) the woman on the phone said no problem come in. When I went in the woman cutting my hair was not young and not friendly. She cut uneven bangs, my curtain bangs were thin and whispy previously but this woman had include much more hair and made them choppy. I dont recommend bangs from this place. read more

Terrible... i called and made an appt for my sister and i. I told them i had curly hair and that i needed someone who knew how to handle curls. They gave me someone who has mildly curly hair so i guess they thought that was enough? The receptionist was rude when we told her about the online coupon for 20% off.. and we had to show it to her for her to accept it that that was in fact what was being advertised. You don't know whats on your site or your hoping people don't challenge you? I left the salon looking like a lion! It was terrible. Not to mention she criticized my hair the entire time. I actually cant believe they let customers leave the salon like that, they should be embarrassed. I went home and fixed it as best I could which was 800 times better then what she did. My sisters hair came out ok, she had a cut. Her blow out was pretty bad too and she has very easy wavy hair. I will say that the guy stylist next to us had a proper blow dryer and was styling the girls hair very nicely. read more

I LOVE Christopher Street Salon! The owner Marina is so attentive and welcoming. Jeremy is an amazing colorist and has the best energy! I had so much fun with him and felt so comfortable. He did a great job getting me from brown and pink hair to a blonde balayage! (Not an easy task - that pink did NOT want to come out!) My entire family has been coming to Christopher Street Salon for almost 22 years at this point and have never been disappointed. I've seen Leanne and Teresa for color and they are both amazing at what they do and are so personable and take the time to make you feel comfortable. I came to see Teresa this past Thursday with a bad color job done at another salon and Teresa listened to what I wanted, looked at inspiration pictures and made it happen. Posting a couple pictures from the wedding I went to on Saturday after seeing Teresa and attempting to curl my own hair (I tried lol). I'm so happy with how the color looks now and learned my lesson about going to other salons! I literally live in New Jersey and will continue to come back to Commack to get my hair done. I also see Jeanine and Carol for hair cuts and they're both amazing and incredibly patient and kind! I always feel good walking out of Christopher Street and that to me is worth the journey back every couple months! read more

I needed a list minute haircut and I called the day of and got an appointment. Had never been here before. Alexa gave me a beautiful haircut and I got exactly what I asked for. I wanted face framing angles, and previous hairdressers have left me with uneven sides and I had to go home and fix it myself with a pair of eyebrow scissors. She very thoroughly made sure it was even and gave me a beautiful blowout. Would definitely come back. It was a little pricey but I had very long hair and prices are going up everywhere these days. read more

Went for a haircut for the first time. I explained in detail and was very specific about what I wanted what I and what I didn't want . Well it didn't seem to matter the stylist in the end she did what she wanted to do. It wasn't bad but it wasn't what I wanted and style didn't fit my lifestyle.I only asked for her to cut 2 inches off she went scissor happy and chopped off a lot of my hair. I'm very active and requested I be able to put it in a ponytail. Interestingly she did not show me the back of my hair.My bad I should have asked to see it. Wouldn't have made a difference it was cut already.Now I know why she didn't show me she messed up the back and could not be put in a ponytail. And I was pretty adamant about not having it long in front and short in back. When I got home I saw how short the back of my hair was and it was choppy not sure what she did back there and I did not ask for layers. When I called salon owner she had an attitude even though I was being nice about it. I will take my business else where. If you are paying for something you should get what you want. read more

I called this Salon in Feb 2021 to make am appt. I was told that I would sit with a hair stylist and talk about my issues with my hair. I sat with Josel, I told her my hair was thinning and I needed a good hair cut and style. I also wanted my hair touched up. I talked to the colorist LeAnn and I have to say I never felt more comfortable having my hair colored and cut. Everyone is sociable. The Salon is clean and updated. Their prices are a little high (but then again aren't most salons?) I really don't love the girls who do the washing, to me that's the more relaxing part and they just kind go through the motions. They offer drinks which is a nice touch & they have plenty of seating. I've never had color done here but I use carol for my cuts- she is sweet and has never made me look bad- she takes the time to understand me and what I am looking for (even if the picture I show her is totally off from what I explained) she is honest and will work with YOU. read more

I have pin straight bleached hair and a lot of it. Every time I get layers in my hair it looks choppy no matter who cuts it. Alexa cut my hair and was able to give me well blended layers and front pieces. She put in the effort and took the time to make sure everything was even. read more

Dyed my hair here, not the best sadly. They even ensured me that that I was with one of their best hairdressers! The color ended up too orange than what I wanted.. I'm disappointed especially since it was expensive and took hours.. I wish I went to a different place instead & now I have to spend even MORE money to fix it. It's a beautiful hair salon and they treat you like you're a million dollar customer. It was my first time visiting this salon and my friend got me a gift certificate for Christmas. I walked in, they knew exactly who I was, offered me coffee, hung my coat and I got my hair washed, cut and blown out and it was fantastic. Carol was the person who did my hair and she was fantastic. If you want a simple cut this also a great place to go. Although I now live in Brooklyn I hVe gone there to do some coloring in my hair ,for 1st time, n I've had so many compliments on how good my hair looked. Christina is a hair color miracle worker! My long time stylist made me a bleach blond 5 days before my wedding and then didn't respond to my messages asking for her to fix it. I freaked and had someone else put a toner on it, ending up with orange hair. This was my first time meeting Christina and she gave me back my natural hair color! Walked into Christopher Street at my lunch hour to inquire about services for my long over due hair cut. I was greeted by the receptionist who then introduced me to Elise who gave me a great consult on the spot and was able to accommodate me two days later after work. Elise managed to give me exactly what I wanted, nice long layers and modern. I found her to be very professional, experienced and personable. You are most definitely entitled to your opinion or should I say discount from Leanne for posting what you have . Good for you . I however along with a few others that I know of personally have not had the same experience . Leanne was rude and very unprofessional period end of story . I'm quite sure through out your life you have encountered the same maybe a dr ? A nail tech ? Child's teacher maybe ? Mean while someone else would disagree with you having had a better experience . So you should not be chiming in on my experience . I was also told by s friend that her sister went to Leanne and when she went back to ask to have it toned Leanne had quite the attitude . For the price of getting hair done today one should leave extremely happy and ok if something needs a little correcting so be it . Not a big problem and certainly should not be addressed with an attitude from the stylist . So you can give Leanne all the outstanding yelp reviews you want and keep getting those discounts . I have found a fabulous stylist /colorist and couldn't be happier. I'd never ever recommend Christopher street to anyone.so in this case one bad apple did spoil it for the rest . read more
