Lulu's is honestly the best hair salon I've ever been to. Everybody is incredibly talented and friendly, and always make you feel welcome and comfortable while you're there. I cannot recommend Danielle P enough, I've probably forwarded about 15-20 other girls to her. She listens to what you want and makes it happen while still protecting the integrity of your hair. While your hair is processing she constantly checks up on it and explains what she's doing. She's also knows how to make different colors/shades that complement your skin tone to make you literally glow when you're finished. Danielle is a perfectionist and will make sure your hair is flawless before you leave her chair. During my last appointment she fully toned my hair 3 separate times to get the perfect silvery white blonde that I had wanted and also managed to carefully remove all of the pink from my hair that she had done a few months ago. When I had my pink hair, she mixed me up a conditioner with my color in it to take home to use when my hair started to fade (which was maybe a month and a half later). She has colored and toned my clip in extensions to match my hair perfectly, and eventually helped me pick out, toned and installed my tape in extensions (she even offered to go with me on her day off to the beauty store to get the best extensions). I always trust Danielle with my hair and after every appointment I'm even more happy than my last--she's passionate about what she does and it really shows! My hair despite all I put it through is the healthiest it's ever been and people constantly comment on how healthy it looks and feels. Her schedule fills up fast and usually appointments need to be made a month in advance but it's well worth the wait. The girls who work at the front desk and at the hair washing sinks are always really sweet and helpful as well. Carissa gives an amazing blowout that could honestly probably last you 3 weeks if you wanted it to. All of the girls here are really cool and fun to talk with, and are always almost as excited as I am to see my hair all finished. i had an appointment today with Lexi to get my haircut and colored. when i made the appointment 2 weeks ago i had to request an appointment in which i had to give my name, email and phone number in which were all up to date. i got a call the same day with an appointment time, in which i was very happy. but when i got to the appointment today as soon as i walked in the girl sitting at the desk looked at me sideways so from the second i walked in i felt a way, she then asked how she could help me and i said i had an appointment with lexi, she then tells me she tried to call me in which i never got a call at all, to tell me lexi was sick. i took off a whole day of work to get my hair done, so at this point im livid, i asked what number they called and she said my old phone number. when i scheduled the appointment request they had the correct number and called me to make the appointment! so why was my number not updated? it was giving rude and lazy, and they really didnt care i felt a bad vibe the second i walked in and honestly i wasted my whole day and lost money, it was just unprofessional that they had the correct number to make the appointment but not the right number to let me know she had to reschedule? no. i will never go here again, on top of they never let me know their address changed when i made the appointment so i went to their old location at first, they clearly don't have it together and are very rude. 0/10! never again! read more

I went and saw Danielle P. after being recommended by a friend who always has amazing looking hair and has been going to her for quite some time. I came to her really disappointed and weary after going to a pricey and well-known salon in the city where they did not give me the cut or color I asked for and left my hair underwhelmed and halfway done. And the time traveling going into the city!! ANyway!! I'm more surprised that this place doesn't have more reviews on yelp. I found LuLu's through Instagram (after a botched hair cut) and their work is truly amazing! Sometimes, the pictures doesn't do justice. All the staff here are so nice, and they act like sisters. Oh, and all the ladies have such beautiful hair!! I'm not even kidding! I had asked for a cut and color- light ashy, cool, blonde ombre and I was already expecting the line "it's going to take a few sessions for that color", but Noooo, my stylist, Jillian, had given me exactly that. Something that I've been wanting for YEARS that most other salons could not give me! And, no joke, my blonde is the lightest I've ever been. No yellow or brassy crap. Lulus has been my salon now for about 5 years. I used to go to Harvey Allen and Salon Eden and Lulus is much better in my opinion. Feels homey and welcoming. The other two salons felt cold and businessy. Lulu's is like hanging out with friends all the girls are so nice and the place has a great atmosphere, fair prices and Danielle P is amazing with color, cuts and extensions. I made her dye my hair blonde even though she said I shouldn't and when I ended up hating it she dyed it back brown for free. I haven't been back to this salon in 8 months. I'm still trying to grow out my hair from a terrible hair cut I received from Danielle P. I went to her a few times for my root touch up. Never seemed to get it right. Always was bleaching my ends because the wrong toner was put on. Which made my hair very brittle. I thought let me ask her to cut my hair, it will help with the color. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she started cutting. A week later when I went to blow out my hair I noticed my ends looked worse then before the cut. My ends looked fried, coarse, separated. When it was time to get my root color done again I said to her why do my ends look like this after that hair cut ? Could it be those texturizing scissors you used ?? She looked dumb founded. Had no answers for me. I didn't think much of it. Thought oh my hair will grow. Well it got worse !!!!!!!!!! From all that bleaching of my ends and using a texturizing scissor on my hair. All my ends crumbled and fell off. So my long bob turned into a shorter in the front and longer in the back !!!!! It was horrible. When I went back again and showed her how the front of my hair looked. I said look I lost all this hair. She's like yea that can happen with bleach. I know you can get breakage from bleach in your root area because that's where the bleach is being applied and if you are not careful you can hit already processed hair causing it to break off. But when it's your ends that are breaking off. Something is wrong !!! Btw, when I first went to Danielle P for her to bleach my roots. She burned off my hair line with the bleach. I should of known then this wasn't a good place but, no didn't think it was a big deal. I went back again and told her to be careful. And to top it all off their prices are incredibly high for people who don't know what they are doing !!!!! I recently went and got a hair cut from Salon 230 West in Syosset by a woman named Brie. This too is a very expensive salon but, they actually know what they are doing. I told the woman my hair is uneven and I have too many layers in my hair. I also told her a texturizing scissor was used on my hair. She informed that those scissors are meant to be used for people who have thinning hair. Not my hair type which is frizzy, curly, and thick. She also told me those scissors separate the ends and make them look frayed. In the end my hair doesn't look as bad but I'm still growing out all these crazy layers I received which is going to take some time. And my ends are still very brittle from all the bleach. Please if you are going to bleach your hair be careful !!!!!!! Even if you go to a hair salon that charges a lot like this one doesn't mean they actually know what they are doing !!!!! First time coming here. I was recommended by my sister in law who says Carissa is the color God. I had very dull dark brown hair, almost black and i was just so tired of it. I came in early morning and Carissa sat with me and we discussed what i wanted and she got right to work. She is super funny and i love her personality. She checked on my hair constantly throughout the process and was very attentive, not only to me but with others as well. Shes very good at multitasking. Today I had an appointment for a root touch up. My hair was a yellow blonde and they managed to change my hair color into a silver with yellow roots. The first red flag was after the girl doing my hair finished bleaching my roots she said, "I'll come back in 20 minutes and see if I have to go over any missed spots". Why would you miss spots if you know/can see what you're doing? The girl doing my hair claimed she was confused and thought I wanted silver hair because I commented on another girl's silver hair and said I liked it, so she took that as saying that I wanted my hair dyed silver. Those words literally never came out of my mouth nor did she consult me about it. She partially took out the silver and now my hair is ash blonde with yellow roots. She couldn't even manage to evenly tone my hair. And I was charged $115. I do my own hair better and I'm not even a trained hair colorist. My hair now feels dry and is unevenly colored. Oh and the chairs at the hair washing station are very uncomfortable. Update: Today I decided to part my hair down the middle and noticed a piece has snapped off. Beyond pissed. I have never been so disappointed or been disrespected for expressing my my feelings of a service gone wrong. A week before my Hair Extension was put in, I had a consultation with Corissa who is suppose to be a very experienced stylist in this field. Knowing my hair was short, I had a concern if it could be done, but was told by Corissa she COULD DO IT. Of course, i was excited about this, especially experiencing a bad haircut from another salon a few weeks before. I was happy this could be done before my convention. Corissa has consulted with the owner and they picked the middle of priced extensions for my hair. Corissa said she was ordering (3) bundles and the cost to me would be $500. I said $500. Though my heart briefly STOPPED, I am a bit vain about my hair, so I sucked it up and said okay. I had to leave a $200 deposit and left a very happy person. On February 9, 2016 , The day before I left for jewelry convention, hairstylist Corissa told me that she cut the (3) bundles of hair extensions in half to hold better with my short hair. Of course i said okay. She never mentioned anything to me about that, but figured she knows what she is doing. I asked Corissa how long do these extensions last and she responded up to 4 months. I was impressed and happy since it cost so much. Corissa was pretty fast at putting extensions on and once she was finished, I wondered as to the upkeep on hair. She did not once mention anything about this, knowing this was my first time. I do remember her listening to everyone's conversation and talking about leaving that day to go away with her man that weekend. She finally mentioned about the brush that works best and doesn't gab or or pull out extensions, also products to use. As I reached the counter to pay for hair extensions and to inquire about brush and product, the price had gone up $50 more. I inquired why, then told that cutting them in half is the reason. WHAT? I don't like surprises like that but was not in the mood to argue, I was still happy at the final result. Now adding additional items....in total I spent $600. That's half my rent. February 12, 2016 .. began of my concern which grew to disappointment then disgust. By the time i left convention I had a handful of extensions come out. These pieces were very thin and didn't look like 1/2 a piece, and shrugged it off. the next 2 weeks after that I had about 25 pieces more that came out. At this point I am VERY upset. I called the salon and was able to get Corissa on the phone. I told her what was happening and was told that they would be coming out and this sounds about right. I re-iterated they started coming out as of (3) days later. How is that right? She told me should would speak to the owner and see what she wants to do. I inquired at that time for them to replace what has fallen out. This should not have happened to soon. We are now in the 2nd week of March and I have not heard back, and more extensions are falling out on a consistent basis. I forget to mention, extensions were only put on sides, the back of my head was my own hair, making it look like a bob style. Friends told me that my hair was starting to look like Dog Ears flopping. How would you feel about this. I am sick to my stomach now. I tried calling again, she is on vacation, and they believe she spoke with owner but have not come to a conclusion. I ask to speak to owner and she is not in. The week after that, Corissa is too busy to get to the phone, and the owner was busy, so I spoke a manager, who is not listed on their website as a manager, but spoke to her anyway. She proceeds to tell me they purchased (4) bundles for my hair. When they ordered bundled I was there. The same day they ordered mine, another order was going in at the same time. All of them were not for me. She insisted. So now I am lying...... Then I was told..... Corissa had concerns about doing them because my hair short. Now I am lying again. If a professional expresses their concerns to me, especially since I am spending so much money, I would not have been Stupid enough to go through with it. I expressed how upset I am that they were not even acknowledging anything wrong happening nor were they trying to work with me on making this situation a better one. I then said, I don't want more extensions in my hair, I just want the rest out and to shape my hair evenly. I was told they would take the rest of the extensions out for free(,1/2 of them were already out) and would shape my hair for a fee. That upset me even more, then I said, how about I take the rest of them out and you even out my hair for free? I was told NO. I have never in my life gone through anything like this. I have been disappointed, disrespected, taken advantage of, and was unhappy with how I looked and felt. This is not how a customer should be treated nor how a business should be run. I have come here more than a few times. I hate getting my haircut. The banging of my skull on the sink is never fun for me during the wash and I worry about what I'll look like. Just like everyone else. I actually really love how I've had my hair cut each time I go to Lulu's. I would've given more stars, but I deducted 2 for three reasons: 1) my face was stained with dark brown hair dye for a 4 days by my eyebrow, upper cheekbone and a few other spots. Not a big deal. But, I was charged $$$$$ for balayage which I don't feel is a true balayage. (This is #2) More like a lot of highlights. The ends of my hair are as dark as the roots. Then she charged me for toner because she didn't like the way the color came out. She didn't show me the color, she just said she needed to add toner. No comment about the extra cost until all was said and done. # 3: one girl went on a screaming rampage through the salon slamming drawers telling the other girls don't "f-info touch my stuff ever" over and over and complaining about how much she hated her ex-husband. I recently had an extremely bad experience at another salon and I called up and the next day and they took me right away to color correct my hair. My hair stylist Danielle P had other clients but she fit me in with another available patient and skilled stylist which she helped to advise to color correct my hair. When I told the staff what happened to my hair they said they would all work together as a team to try to fix it. I literally had three people standing over my hair offering their expertise and skilled opinions as what to do. I felt like I was in such good hands and like an important client ...one that they wanted to keep. They were so reassuring that they could fix it. It took about four hours to fix my hair but they nailed it. Highly recommend Danielle P and Dorothy and the probably anyone there. 10/10 on this salon. Back many years ago, when I was in middle school, I wanted red streaks (sort of like highlights) put in. I wanted them to pop out since my hair was at the time a light brown. Easy to color, no bleaching required. I make the appointment with my mom, everyone is super nice, and then the day comes. I sat in a chair for nearly 2 hours and when they washed and blew my hair out..... You couldn't see anything. This was nearly $250. Now I'm very disappointed, my mom is confused, and the woman who did my hair was overly happy. I said I didn't like it, my mom asked where the color was. If you're looking for a simple haircut or blowout, this is an okay place. Anything more is an absolute waste of money. I went in with pictures and a very clear description of what I wanted. I noticed the lady wasn't doing some things I mentioned, but only reminded her once, so as not to micromanage or challenge her "expertise". I repeated exactly what I wanted again and again and she continued to assure me it would be exactly like my picture. After 3 hours, she ended up doing everything exactly how I didn't want it. I said I wanted ombré to start below my ears, what color it should be, and that it should be a platinum gray ombré at the bottom. I walked out with blondish highlights from root to tip. Rather than demanding it be redone (which I should have), I was so upset, I walked out, cried the whole way home and vowed to never return. I wasted $200 and ended up dying it back the next day with $7 hair dye from CVS. I've never had a worse experience and I implore you to go elsewhere.
