I came there here to purchase a few things I couldn't get at Sephora. I showed the one girl the inspo look. She only gave one recommendation. Like girl I just showed you a look and you only give one recommendation. That was the worse. Then Jessica came along and actually helped me. She picked items out gave a bunch of recommendations and showed me how to achieve the look and helped me with my eye brows!!! Jessica to the rescue. I was so happy she was there because otherwise I would have left with an attitude and back to Sephora to get help!! I would suggest customer service classes. I had never been to an Ulta and decided to give it a try (I'm usually a dept. store shopper for my makeup). I made a bee line for the MAC area, where a freelance worker was helping a woman. I waited patiently for them to finish for it to be my turn. I wanted to buy a whole new supply of makeup and told the freelance worker this. We had a brief conversation and then the freelance worker told me she'd be right back. After waiting for her a while and I decided to get up from the chair to look at some MAC colors. Do you know when I got up, I saw her fully helping another customer as if I wasn't sitting waiting for her. She wasn't just answering a few questions, she took on another customer while I've been waiting for her, making me wait even longer. And after I had already waited for her when she initially was with the woman. This really upset me, I felt so insulted to be treated with no regard at all, and I was making a big purchase. I was prepared to leave, but not without speaking to a manager first. That's how mad I was. Here's where my review goes from 0 stars to 5 stars. The manager was excellent (I don't know her name but she was super pretty.). She showed up as me and the freelancer actually started to fight. She came into an upsetting and hostile situation and quickly diffused it. She was able to get this situation that had clearly gone off the rails back on track and in a good way. She offered to have an Ulta employee help me with my purchase and sent in J Lynn. J Lynn is really a 10-stars. She was excellent too. Deeply knowledgable about all the brands and about makeup. Her makeup looked beautiful and she had a personality to match. When I tell you she was great, she was great! Focused, efficient, thorough, friendly, patient, sanitary. The products and colors she picked for me were on point and what I ended up purchasing. She was so professional, had great work philosophies (like she believes every customer should have a good experience), was very helpful. And it was very easy, as the client, to work with her. I totally trusted her expertise and she wasn't salesmen-y at all. She understood my budget, money concerns and even time concerns, concluding the sale by the time set. My experience with the freelancer was exactly what I wouldn't want and my experience with J Lynn was exactly what anyone would want shopping at Ulta. What started as horrific and unsalvageable ended not only as a very positive experience but I'm so thoroughly happy with my make up and everything, that I actually decided to make Ulta Millbury my new place for all my makeup needs (no more dept stores.) Based on this outcome, I can't deny Ulta and J Lynn a glowing 5 star review. It's fully deserved, imo. read more

I will be the first person to admit that I know nothing about makeup. With that said , I decided to take a trip to the Ulta location in Millbury, MA. I wanted to see if someone could help me find a nice foundation and to match my skin tone and just lend a general hand and give recommendations of other products to someone who was obviously lost in a sea of the unknown. All I got from the experience is not one person offered to help me or even acknowledge my existence in their store until I had made my usual " Walmart" make up selections and went to pay. Only then did someone finally speak to me ( I will admit pretty politely) just to tell me the check out line started around the corner from where I was standing. All and all, I would say that the staff on the sales floor could not be bothered to stop and even ask if I needed help finding anything. I will add that they seemed more than willing to help the ladies that looked like they , shall we say, had more to spend. I will give them a little bit of advice, you shouldn't assume who is or isn't willing to pay more for better quality products when they are certain that they have been well taken care of and received sound advice and service. read more

OK, So this is a store my adult daughter really likes, and I like a little bit of makeup, so I figured what the hey? I'll give 'em a try. I think it was the Northborough location I went and got her a gift certificate. Tried the Milbury location, and, as someone prone to migraine, really can't return. This location made me long for the days of Perfume Lady in the mall asking "Would you like to try a spritz?" of Chanel or whatever brand. At least she was just holding one bottle of perfume. Ulta Milbury smells as if many vats of different perfumes were dumped right there in the store. There are many different makeup selections; haircut & styling is a bit pricy for me, but it is available; and I can't complain about the manners of even one employee. Due to chemical sensitivity, and I honestly don't remember the Northborough store having this problem, I'm sorry to say I can't shop at the Milbury location. read more

Let's be honest 99% of reviews are negative, but I'm here to shift the energy. I live in Woodstock, CT, don't have a traditional schedule, and I'm pretty spontaneous about needing to get my hair done. I've been seeing Jessica at Ulta for my eyebrows for a little over a year and decided I'd try out the hair salon. (Also, trying to find an apt on a Monday is near impossible.) Today, I booked with Nani and I'm so happy I did l!! I'm absolutely thrilled with the way my hair came out. I'm pretty basic with my hair routine, wash, dry & out the door, but Nani breathed new life into it. I have bangs, new layers, and even the manager smiled when I was flipping it around in the line to check out. What a horrible experience I had today! After waiting in line to cash out the associate inform me that she didn't have cash in her register so she had to wait for her manager Amelia to void the transaction. 15 minutes went by and still no manager, at that point the associates were asking each other where is Amelia. When she finally came I decline to give my phone number and asked if they could "cash me out, I've been waiting for 15 minutes". she got mad and stormed off and said "cash her out then" all because of me declining their rewards. read more

The salon I used to go to closed, so I decided to give the salon here a try. I made the appointment online and confirmed it via text. I can't say how the cut was, because it didn't happen. I showed up 10 minutes before my appointment and walked to the back of the store to the salon. I went to the counter to check in. No one in sight. So I waited...and waited...and waited. Employees walked past me and no one asked if I was being helped. When my appointment time came, I was still being ignored and no one from the salon was in the salon, so I left. The most laughable part is that about an hour later I got a call and a message was left wanting to know why I missed my appointment and if I wanted to reschedule. Yeah, that's a solid no. I'm not going to go back for a $45 haircut that I already took time out of my day to show up for, was on time for, but never got helped. First impressions are everything and mine is don't bother with this place. Update 9/4/2020 Someone, presumably from this place sent me a "compliment" saying that I should have spoke up and asked for help. I would have spoken up if someone milling around would have looked me in the eye and acknowledged my existence. I'm no Karen. I have only ever worked in retail, reception and customer service. In my experience, when I see someone that looks like they haven't been helped, it is professional to ask if they need something. It's never wrong to ask. My daughter went to the hair salon on Saturday for hair lightening. She was expecting to pay $125 for the service. When the stylist looked at her hair and figured out what was needed she said it would be more. $200 was tossed out as an amount for services rendered. In the end it was $320!!! Be sure you get an exact quote and don't expect any customer service if you're not happy with the price. The manager said any refund comes out of their pocket. Really???? read more

So rude and unprofessional. When I went shopping they told me their computer system was down so they would take my name and number and items to let me know when I could come back and purchase them. They never called me and I called two days later before driving out just to make sure I could come back and everything would be all set the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude right from the beginning she made me explain my situation three different times and put me on hold so she can speak to a manager. I was on hold for five minutes before she came back and told me that she would have a manager call me and then hung up on me.
