This Ulta leaves much to be desired. I rarely go here, and I remembered why. First, several items which I was interested buying were out of stock. Second, when I was checking out the sales associate was extremely pushy and would not take no for an answer when I said I did not want to create an account. It made an uncomfortable customer experience for me. Finally, I had to really search for someone to help me when looking for products (which ultimately were out of stock). Absolutely fabulous service from Loudin! Went in for a return and walked out with a brand new Dior & Hourglass face. The rep from Dior was also helpful. Loudin took time to put different shades on me and shared why and how to build up and literally boom in and out in 20 minutes. Very knowledgeable excellent personality. It really helps to have an expert at this location. He knows what's up I'm 55 and out of the loop with all of these product lines. So, I feel like he has range. As a sales manager by profession I can tell Ulta they need to pay him and retain him and get more of his vibe in there. He's a bottom line asset out of the love for what he does. Do NOT get your eyebrows done here. The past couple years I've gone to Juma here who always does a fantastic job and was disappointed to learn she had left, but was open to trying someone new. The women was lovely and very nice, however, my skin hurt a lot more than usual after. I gave my skin 24 hours to heel, and now I have this awful scab under my eyebrow. The girls working were very rude and didn't do their job well. My younger sister was trying to use gift cards and they waited until after we tried to pay using the multiple gift cards that we needed to pay the rest in cash, we then explained that we didn't have cash and they got mad and moved us to another register. They put the money back on the gift cards and we paid using a credit card and my mom had to ask for the gift cards back because the cashier was holding onto them. In town, again, for a Christmas Party and I checked online for an appointment. Easy Peasy 3:00 PM, on a Friday, and got paired with Callie. OMG! She is absolutely delightful and so patient. I have long hair and wanted it curled. She did a fabulous job with the big curling iron and the little one in about 35 minutes. She also did my brows and they look amazing. This is the second year in a row that I have come here for my "party" hair and I am so happy! Went to Ulta yesterday to pick up some items I needed and heard there was some kind of event also going on for the weekend. When I walked in the store there were two girls by the registers but no one greeted me when I arrived so said anything about the beauty fest going on. I grabbed the items I needed and walked around to check out what was going on for the event, not a single employee acknowledged I was there, but two stood in the same aisle as me complaining about wanting to home. I'm not even sure as to what the event was about because I didn't see any special signs or receive any information from the employees wondering around. Then when I arrived to the register to check out two employees were just standing there talking to each other not realizing there was a customer waiting. As I was checking out someone else had come in with a return and the lady checking me out "jennifer" spoke into her mic whispering "oh no return return" and the other employee was bent down looking into a cabinet and rather loudly goes "nooooo" and instead of helping the person just ignore they were there and kept shuffling things around the cabinet. I don't know if it's the fact so many of the employees are young or majority female, but it feels like you're walking into a high school drama fest with the way the employees treat their jobs and the customers around them. Next time I think I will just order my items online. read more

I'm getting ready for my sister's wedding and I am clueless when it comes to makeup. I went to Ulta today and was greeted by a lovely young lady named Julia or Jennifer, I feel terrible I can't remember. I asked her if she could help me and she was more than willing. She was incredibly helpful and patient with me and made the process so much easier for me. I told her the color of my dress and she suggested this great eyeshadow palette. I love the colors she chose for me as well as the color of the nail polish. I would never have chosen these colors for myself. I came in here because I royally screwed up my own hair by trying to bleach my own roots with a box dye I found underneath the cabinet. it was like neon orange so I decided to dye the rest of my head purple with the rest of the box dye. I didn't have enough color deposits as the dye was more liquid than it was creamy. so I basically looked half neon purple/magenta and half strawberry blonde. I basically looked crazy and I felt people thought I looked crazy. what I love about this salon is I can book online, pick out the days that the stylist is available and that also works for me. schedule what I would like to get done so they have a general idea. I chose Amanda because she was the only stylist working here that I could find on social media of the work she had done. I felt I trusted her and liked her work so I booked my appointed with her! what I love about my haircut was that Amanda listened to what I want. I've seen people say I only want to cut off "2 inches" and they come out almost bald. lol jk not really though sometimes I'll go with my mom to her salon in edison and I'll see girls say repeatedly "only this much" and say it ten times. I had the complete and utter joy of having a haircut from Unique on a Saturday afternoon. I had called ahead to make an appointment, and I was assured I'd be accommodated. This "lady" has no concept of customer service. Let's just say her style is.... unique. My hair is fine and requires a blunt cut because the ends will look frizzy and ratty over time. Had this woman taken the time to actually ASK me what I wanted before cutting my hair, she wouldn't have proceeded to turn my trim into a layered cut. She barely spoke to me at all during the appointment. In fact, before she made the first cut, I asked her how much she was taking off and she gave me an attitude. She clearly had no idea what she was doing. If you're in the salon business, you have to make conversation and engage your client! 6 months of growing my hair out ruined by this UNIQUE experience! Honestly I was really hoping that this would be my go-to place for my Keratin treatments. I usually go to New York City for them and I get it done much better and much cheaper there but I needed a local place! However they seriously messed it up and my head was killing me and itching very badly-- I had these black marks all over my scalp. I went to the doctor the next day and she told me that it was a chemical burn! The Stylist burned my scalp! I have never had that happen to me before and I have had keratin done many times! I have been going to Ulta for hair services since we moved to NJ few years ago. At first I absolutely loved the place because the cut was good priced so I even sent many people there including family. Naturally this time when my son asked to color his hair, I did not hesitate to try to book him there. To be sure of the cost and the timing, I actually called in advance and I was told that based on my request it will be done as at an hourly rate but the colorist said she will be quick since it is not long hair (6-8 inches) and not complicated... honestly, since I went there so many times and I trusted them so I did not question the hourly thing. 4 hours later... 240$ later... I was shocked by the cost considering this is not Manhattan... so much to say that I won't be going back to them. I would have given no star, but the color came out okay... but for 240$... just not worth it... as a person who have been doing hair coloring for 20 years who went from black to blond... to red... purple... with 4 colors at one point on my hair all at once, I really should have known that I got BSed. DO NOT GO HERE TO GET YOUR HAIR CUT!!! Every time they have not done what I have told them to do. Recently, they said they were giving layers but all they did was chop the piece of hair closest to my face 3 inches shorter than the rest. I had asked them to make that piece of hair much longer than it ended up being. The ladies I have had have not cut the amount of hair off that I asked, it was either barely any off when i asked for a couple inches, or almost 3-4 inches off when I asked for a trim. She is certified in the DevaCurl cutting and styling method and process, and will blow your mind with her curly hair skills! I was sick and in and out of the hospital for two week which made me get a knot the size of a softball in the back of my head. Literally. I had gone to two other salons, who couldn't help me or just gave me rude responses. I called Ulta in Flemington and they told me to come in ASAP. Kimmie, who is pregnant mind you, brushed this knot for SEVEN HOURS until she finally got it out. Most people told me my only option was to shave my head, however she was determined to get it out. She had some help along the way from some of the other awesome hairstylist their and they were all so great! I am so happy I came here and regret not coming sooner ! The quality of the cuts color and hair treatments is great but because of the high prices could only give 3 stars.

I went in two months ago for a consultation with Chrissy at Ulta in Flemington NJ. She gave me pricing information and explained how she could lighten my hair to a medium brown. I had been doing it myself at home and it was getting too dark. I went in the following week and she lightened it and I was happy with it. She did not give me the 25% off that she had spoke of in the original consultation but it was fine. Unfortunately 2 weeks later it had fadded and was orange. I went back at about 5 weeks from the original date for root touch up and told her I was not happy with the orange but liked the original color before it faded. That time when I left with a wet head I did not realize she had significantly darkened it. Just like when I did it myself at home! I was frustrated but did not have time to go back so I planed to tell her when I went back for my roots. She had originally said it would be $65 for root touch up not the $110 I had just paid. Oh well. Last week at the DMV the woman behind the desk commented about my hair being many colors and brassy she was surprised to here I was not doing it myself but had paid for it! I was embaresed, called Ulta customer service and the agent was very understanding. He said the district manager would call me back. That was last week still no call. I contacted the store manager who said she would fix it so I went in tonight. She had me look at a color swatch and I picked what I liked similar to the original color Chrissy did. I sat in a chair at the sink for two hours with no mirror to see what she was doing. Finally I sat in front of a mirror as she dried it to see the color. My hair felt like straw and it was lighter, a very nice color but she did not do my roots! I have straw and an inch of gray! I was in shock and said why didn't you do the roots? She saved "oh I didn't know you wanted them done I thought you just wanted it lightened and conditioned". She appoligiesed and said I could come back next week for a free conditioning treatment and that she could do my roots in three weeks but that she charges $20 dollars more then Chrissy. Why does she charge more? Not because she listens to her customers. I don't care about the money MY HAIR IS RUINED IT FEELS LIKE STRAW AND I HAVE ONE INCH OF GRAY ROOTS AND I WASTED 2 HOURS OF MY LIFE SITTING IN A CHAIR! read more
