The paranoid brow bar technician is trippy and will tell you they don't have walk-in services and the Manager will tell you they do. Whatever you do, don't ever need to move an appointment, they won't accommodate. Ulta has some great staff, just not at this store. read more

On Dec 18 I was double charged. After multiple phone calls and being told that they can't do anything for 7 business days, I called the store again and was told by Olivia that she had "tried to call me." This is false. She then went on to read an email from corporate explaining all the hoops I would have got jump through in order to receive my refund from the double charge. It is now January 5 and I've yet to receive a refund. I will never shop at Ulta again. This was such a terrible example of customer service. read more

I love ulta but the customer service girl I saw today was so rude. I asked if they had Lancôme skincare and she barely answered me. She didn't make eye contact the whole time. Mumbled answers and not helpful at all. I was also being stared at by another employee. God forbid someone come in to ask a question. I'll order online from now on. When the salon I was originally supposed to have my hair and makup done for my wedding got super flaky a week before, I was desperate. I didnt even know Ulta had a Salon in it. They were great on the phone when I explained the situation and fit me and my sister in. Sabrina did my hair and it was exactly as I explained I was looking for. It held all day and I received so many compliments. I can't express enough my satisfaction with both my hair and makup, as well as my sister's. I will now be a regular for my general hair needs. Very nice bright store with many top brand names in all categories of hair, skin, nails and cosmetics. The store has a hair salon and a cosmetology station within. Prices are reasonable but you need to know your prices before hand. Ulta does have coupons on a regular basis and a loyalty program which help to offset your purchases from time to time. The employees in the store are very helpful and do actually have a pretty good sense of where items are within this vast space. The product I was looking for as not available and the associate working with me didn't ask if I wanted her to check other stores since I told her the last time I had purchased the product it was in the Peabody store. This is by far the best Ulta in the area that I've been to. The store is immaculate and very organized and well stocked. But more importantly the girls that work here are incredible. They're very knowledgeable on the products and are actually eager to help when I come in with questions. I have found that when going to other Ulta locations (like seabrook and newington) the girls that work there are very snobby and standoffish and always huddled in little groups talking to each other. I've been looking for a product for months and called this Ulta, almost two hours from my house hoping they had it. The woman on the phone went and checked after I told her the name twice, and told me it was in stock. I asked again to confirm that it was the one I was looking for and she said "yes i have that one and the other pallete". I drive an hour and a half there and they don't have it. Haven't had it in months. Most of the employees tried to help find it, but before I left I heard the girl I talked to on the phone talking at the counter saying I never mentioned it was that certain pallete I only said the brand name. The staff here is incredibly rude and uninformed. You'd think that working at a makeup store, you'd at least know a little bit about makeup, right? wrong. The employees talk down to you and some don't even wear makeup or have their hair presentable. manager Jamie is disrespectful. This is a fairly new location. It is very nice inside...the staff is friendly and the store is clean. While I prefer sephora as my beauty supplier, Ulta is great for my quick pick ups and such. I'd recommend this location over most in the general area. Please note that the other review is speaking poorly to the salon inside Ulta, which I have not used. I wouldn't base a poor review of the salon on the entire store. It's a different experience. Shopping in Ulta has been great for me and the staff are always willing to help. One time I got matched for a foundation shade, which took about 15 mins, and even though I decided I didn't have the money for it at the time, there was no problem or sense of attitude and she was still more than happy to have helped me. read more

I made a hair cut appointment for my toddler son but the receptionist only took my name. When we showed up for the appointment I think the ladies were confused it was for my son and not me. Colby was our stylist. She was very friendly and did well with our son. I had a picture that I shared with her of what we wanted. It came close but I'm not that happy with the results. She couldn't find the #2 clipper so used a #1, it was too short for his light hair. Maybe with the 2 it would have been perfect! The back is not blended well because I think the 1 clipper, I asked for a trendy cut but it's just off. I should have thought more about it and spoke up. read more

I was appalled at the lack of communication skills , the lack of knowledge , and the lack of empathy when I came in with blonde hair , only to have hi lite-lo-lights done and came out with medium brown dried out hair . this was wothout a cut or style for 118.00 with a 20% tip because I myself am in the the business for 36 years , as a a cosmetologist , Barber And licensed Instuctor/ Teacher in the field. when I called to say I was I was not satisfied with her leaving during my procedure do to her child throwing up i school,only to have a young tech. Try to come to my rescue, she aske d me " how do I do this ". ...????? The General manager would not reimburse my $$$$$ back And was combative about the situation. her name was Jamie , the "GenerL manager". I went to the Manchester Nh store , where I got a color correction and was still charged, So for 118$ plus a 20% tip and a second appt at another Ulta store Was charged 83$ plus 10 % tip , I still have not been reimbursed And ................ Cont on............ .......... had to help in both places with color education, with technicians. I recently lost my best friend and hairdresser due to a move and my hair is coming out in clumps ans I still have massive regrowth!!!!!! I am only giving this store 1 star because I have to choose something. I have been a customer in this location for a long time. Every time I go into this location the employees have always talked about how great this the salon is. I finally thought I would give it a try . I called and made a appointment, with the salon manager Crystal . I went in with a previous style picture of my hair how it used to be. I was looking to go back to. I showed Crystal this picture, explained what I was looking for . It was to be longer on the top and scissor blended on the side to match the top. My color brown with a reddish highlight . Well through the haircut there was no talk through having my hair done. Not that I was looking for a best friend. Let's face it though. I was in her chair for two hours. My hair came out much darker, almost black with orange highlights . Crystal used clippers to cut the sides of my hair. Never in my entire life has anyone used clippers on my hair. My hair cut looks like I have a flat top. My color is horrible , my haircut is horrible. I brought this to her attention , that I was unhappy. She told Me the color would lighten after a couple washes. I was horrified. I walked out in tears. I ended up going to Another salon, that I had to pay again to at least have my color fix. I tried calling to speak to the store manager, Unfortunately she is no longer at this location. So if you are thinking of going to this salon to have your hair done. Stay away from Crystal. No customer service skills. No cutting skills, No coloring skills. read more

They need to work on greeting customers when a customer comes in. I walked in last evening and was ignored by the associate on duty even though she was at the counter. I then walked around looking at product trying to figure out what to buy. No one asked me if I needed any help and I was looking at all their new product. I've never been in a Ulta store with such disinterested and uninformed staff. I went in a few weeks ago looking for a specific skincare line (that I know they carry). I couldn't find it and when I asked two different sales people all I got was a blank stare with "I don't think we carry that" from one and the other just went "ummmmm." I don't think they have had any training whatsoever, or don't bother looking around the store they work in. Then the other day I went in for makeup brushes. As I was looking over the brushes, the sales person came up and said if I found what I wanted, just look in the drawer below. Well, the drawer below was a mumbo jumbo of brushes - a real mess. How was I suppose to find what I was looking for? And should I have to plow thru the drawer below looking for what I want - I don't think so. When I finally got the sales person to come back over again (she was talking with another sales person) to help me all she could do was go on and on about someone had taken one out of the drawer and ripped it open and put it on the display. She must have said it 6 times - I think she thought it was me that did it! The sales people seem to talk amongst themselves a lot while not paying attention to the customers. Between that and their ignorance of what they are actually selling, I will be going to the Portsmouth store even though it is further for me. read more

I was never asked if I needed help. I brought up a Bare Minerals set and asked the girl at the register if it was a good shade for my light skin. She said sure. I should have known better than to go to a salon that was running a killer promotional ($30 hair cut and style). My stylist was super nice and friendly, but didn't listen to what I wanted. I went in for a hair cut because I wanted to get long side swooped bangs and a trim. I was hoping for the Reese Witherspoon thick, lucious side bang, which is similar to a picture I had shown him and instead I got an uneven chunk on the OPPOSITE side of my head that I wanted. Luckily for me, my bangs are long enough so I can hide them behind my ear. Moving on to the haircut...I asked for a trim, I think he took a good inch off my entire length AND gave me short, choppy layers. I specifically told him I was growing my hair out and just wanted the dead ends cut off. I left with my hair in the shape of a rectangle and with bangs that are more of a thick block on the side of my head...no swoop action whatsoever. Not to mention I was in there for over an hour because he kept leaving me to go answer the phone, take appointments and talk to other clients. He needs some serious training before I would ever go back to him for a hair cut. read more

I am not pleased at all. I had my hair and makeup done for prom, $80 plus $10 for putting fake eyelashes on and on top of that you have to pay another $5 for the eyelashes itself. Gave her a good tip only because she acted patient with me. Girl took forever to do an updo that came out absolutely horrible. Didn't do what I asked for at all and was the most ugly hair do ever. Had her take it out and had to end up having my hair down. Curls were messy and barley curled, by the time I left for pictures it was all out and messy. I felt so ugly and was so stressed at this point crying ruined my makeup further. I could have done a much better job. She did horrible on my makeup and didn't know what she was doing. Should have know because her makeup wasn't too great. Put dark gel eyeliner way below my bottom lid. I looked like a drag queen. Made her take that off. She ended up making me put my own eyeliner and mascara on. With her having to redo everything and doing a horrible job, she made me run 45 minutes late. So what did I pay $100 for? For messy horrible hair and drag queen makeup? I could have done it myself or paid less for someone who knew what they were doing. I highly recommend to go somewhere else. read more
