I went to the Danbury Mall for the first time with my best friend yesterday. We were looking around at all the product and were being followed the entire time by staff. Wouldn't go down one aisle without somebody asking if we need something or getting stared down. I had a big shopping bag from journey's so they assumed that l was trying to steal. Especially by the manager. The manager was also very rude to me when she rang me out. I bought $200 worth of makeup that day for a shoot and I wish I didn't have to. You also shouldn't assume people who dress a certain way are broke or going to steal. I get we looked very out of town, but come on! I guess we looked too poor to be in that mall. Terrible staff. Uneducated on their products, filled with attitude, and you can barely find anyone to help you in the first place. Out of probably 10 girls in the store, there were only 2 that truly helped AND were nice. Most of the time the girls huddled behind the registers giggling. Extremely annoying when you WANT to spend money on products and no one is there to guide you. They make it seem like your presence is an inconvenience to their day including the so called management. I booked a same day appmnt online and I was greeted by her with a huge smile and immediately felt comfortable! She took my DRY Frizzy balayage hair and gave me a healthy dark chocolate color I was hoping for! She listened to exactly what I wanted and gave me options! The store itself is nice, but every time I've been, there are carts of products to be restocked blocking many of the shelves, making it impossible to shop what's behind them. I've also never been approached by staff offering help, or have even seen anyone around the store. I have to go to the register for assistance - which brings me to another point... I bought a bottle of shampoo & conditioner specifically to remove chlorine from hair. The girl working in the salon section (before I finished telling her what I needed) said any clarifying shampoo would be fine and started to walk away. I stated I was looking for something chlorine removal specific. She didn't know of any product for that purpose so I googled while standing there, and she at least helped me locate the bottle. She told me I would need the Paul Mitchell super strength conditioner - so I bought it. This conditioner contains a lot of protein, which is needed for damaged hair. My hair has never been dyed, permed, etc and I don't use heat on it. It's not damaged in any way. I was not understanding why my hair was splitting at the ends like crazy and feeling brittle and gross when it had never been like that before. When I got a trim with my hairdresser, she said the amount of protein in the conditioner was causing the problem, and as soon as I switched to one without protein, my hair returned to its usual texture. I tried to return the conditioner past 60 days from purchase. I wasn't aware of the return policy - my own fault, but since I see my hairdresser every 8 weeks I couldn't have known any earlier that the conditioner was the issue. The girl working the register couldn't process the return, which I understand, but did nothing to remedy the situation. She didn't even call over a manager to explain why I was returning it. (I explained the story above). I wouldn't have bought this conditioner if the girl from the salon hadn't said I would need it when using a chlorine removal shampoo. So, do your research on what you're intending to buy before shopping at Ulta because it's going to be an issue to find help first of all, and I don't think the staff is educated well enough (or at all) on what's in store. read more

I got a cut and balayage with Laura S and I have to say I am completely blown away! She took my dull, fine hair and made it into something beautiful. I asked for a piecey caramel balayage. Laura listened to what I wanted and made sure I was happy with every step of the way. She explained what she was doing and was very knowledge and informative. When I booked online, I accidentally booked with Laura, the salon manager instead of Laura S but they quickly fixed that once I arrived at the salon. If you want balayage, go to Laura S! I was reading the reviews posted thus far, they appear to be favorable in the salon area which is nice to hear. I had exceptional customer service at another location but unfortunately they were out of stock on the item I wanted so I visited Danbury. I'm really good with getting names and I wish I had got the name of this Associate because I would blast how unprofessional she was. All her co-worker could do was apologize for her behavior. I feel bad for employees that do work there that value their jobs and value their customers, because Associates like the women we interacted with tonight will impact repeat business. read more

Had a return and the lack of customer service was unbelievable. The cashier insisted I give her my phone # so she could deduct points from my account when I didn't use an account when i made the purchase. The cashier got this from the receipt but she needed her manager, Paula, to assist. Paula never asked to see my receipt and refused to do a work-around for this issue. She was clearly annoyed that she was interrupted to come to the counter and made no effort to keep a customer. I was in NJ days later where another Ulta refunded me without taking points I rightfully earned. They may see me again, but Danbury never will. If I could give no stars I would. read more

This store is still very confused on their products, training of staff and basic sales. No one ever knows where things are. I've had a sales girl argue with me regarding a product they carried, she all but called me a liar until I finally found it and showed her. I was pissed! A lot of products have had fingers mushed in the them, example - body scrubs, lip sticks, powders etc - all in their packaging so if you don't check you can get home and find your item used. The staff is generally lazy, they avoid helping customers by rush to the other side of the store or they huddle in groups chatting and it's obvious they are avoiding their customers. Very disappointed. Not my first time in the Danbury store. Both times were disappointing. No more. I will go to the Avon branch. They give you lots of help, advice, and free samples. To me that's a recipe for a successful beauty store. The Danbury branch has no employees with knowledge of skincare or makeup application. And no samples. We walked out with $200 worth of Prestige makeup and skincare and NOT 1 sample to take home to try. Makes me wonder if all the employees take them for themselves or they're friends and families? Or do they sell them illegally in bulk, to people who end up selling the samples at flea markets? Makes you rethink shopping there huh? Good! Don't! HORRIBLE... I had my prom this past Friday, April 25, 2017. It was a last minute thing and I wanted to get my makeup done but all the places I would normally have went to (sephora, mac) were already booked, but ulta wasn't (NOW I KNOW WHY).. I had my appointment at 3, being aware makeup normally takes around 45 minutes. Getting there at 3, the girl who was doing my makeup had nothing ready! I sat down and waited at least 10 minutes for her to even start working on my makeup. After she did one thing, she would go back onto the floor to find some other products. She should have had some makeup with her to begin with, or gone all at once instead of every 2 minutes. I kept telling her I could not be late. She wasn't even able to finish my makeup, I had to do my own lips, highlighter, mascara AND eyebrows in the CAR on the way there! My eyeliner and my eyelashes were applied so horribly they fell off ON THE WAY THERE.. I left and Hour and 20 minutes later.i was so late, i missed my pictures AND the bus to get to the school so my parents gad to drive me which they were not happy about. I have pictures that clearly show my eyeliner and eyelashes coming off. My skin makeup was so blotchy and not blended out it was also visible in pictures. I wasted my prom night worrying about how i looked when i should have felt gorgeous. I missed pictures and hated the few i was in. Save your $50 and do it yourself. NEVER again will i get my makeup done there. Not to mention the amount of attitude and sass i recieved after complaining about what a crappy job i got and how i wanted my money back.
