Had an amazing hair color and cut experience. I was so tired of my dry hair and same old grown out highlights. I wanted to get a vibrant warm color that would match my eyes and I wanted to use natural products as I'm nursing- not just toxic chemicals as most salons use. I've struggled to find the right fit out here since I moved from NYC. Erin did an incredible color that created an ombré effect -darker copper and cognac on top and lighter gold on the bottom with my highlights coming through. She also added a Botanical Dry Treatment to condition my hair for weeks and Glaze that is 98%plant derived with no ammonia, so now I have super shiny soft hair with the perfect color - couldn't be happier! And Stacey gave me a great cut with layers and shattered ends just like I was hoping for. Nothing but thrilled with this experience. Downright thrilled My best friend got married a few weeks ago and the bride/bridesmaids (maid of honor here, woo woooot) all got our makeup done at Shine. First off, the makeup artists were phenomenal. I'm a big fan of Aveda products, and although I never get my makeup done professionally (only once for a salon photoshoot) I was so impressed by the expertise of the 4 ladies paintin' us up. Allison M, (my makeup artist) was SUPER sweet, kept asking for my input and wanted to make sure that I enjoyed the final result. I left it up to her and ended up with gorgeous green & gold hues on my eyes, foundation and cheek color with a light summery glow, and beautiful pinkish lip gloss. All perfect with our champagne-gold bridesmaids dresses. I'd recommend this salon to anyone who comes across my path - especially if you need makeup done for a wedding or fancypants event. The stylists are all highly trained and professional. I'm a huge fan of Kyle and have been going to her for years. Each cut looks great and continues to look great cut after cut. Shine Salon is AWESOME! They have great employees and a wonderful, clean salon! I wanted to try an Aveda salon so I made the trip from Stamford to Ridgefield to try out Shine. I was so pleasantly surprised that I've continued going back! Havela is amazing amazing amazing - I go to her for facials and peels and cannot say great enough things about her. She recommended Amanda as a hair stylist and I just had my hair highlighted in an ombre technique and love it. I'm very particular about my hair but Amanda did a fantastic job! Lastly, the girls at the front desk are welcoming, happy, smart individuals. They run a tight ship and make sure everything is running smoothly: taking clients coats, getting them beverages and anything else they might need, and always have a smile on their face! It's a far drive for me (especially considering all of the salons and spas in Stamford) but I really enjoy seeing the Shine staff and getting fabulous in their care. Live in CA and went to Shine while visiting family in Wilton. Had an amazing facial from Camille and had my hair dyed by Samantha. Camille was very knowledgeable about the facial products, health, herbal remedies... etc. My skin is absolutely glowing! I am definitely coming back to her next time I'm in town! Also, compared to local prices I'd say the services are very reasonable considering they are an Aveda salon with high-end products. Samantha was also great - dyed my hair back to my natural color, am very happy with it. Such a great experience, and such a pleasant surprise after three really terrible experiences elsewhere. Melanie was able to miraculously lift a jet-black dye job changed red by box-dye to come out to be a brown with caramel highlight masterpiece. I was feeling terrible about my hair - I looked like a gothic teenager - and she fixed it. I recently read that a sign of quarter life crisis could be a undying wish to change your hair - don't do it guys. Stick to what you know, or see Melanie. Don't try to do it yourself. read more

I moved to Weston 8 months ago. I have had 3 salon experiences. First one was okay but didn't love it, second one in Wilton was so expensive I couldn't believe it, 3rd one took so long for highlights (4.5 hours) I had to tell her not to cut it or finish drying it because I had to get my kids. I went to Shine Salon for the cut and it was amazing. I am totally coming here for cut and color. Desk staff was friendly and accommodating and the stylist did an amazing job on my cut. I was pleasantly surprised about my first trip Shine Salon. After a hectic day at work, I was running a few minutes late to my appointment, unable to hit up an ATM, and feeling horribly guilty about it. The girls were all gracious and understanding even though it was completely my fault. Since I couldn't tip on my credit card, they also were able to direct me to a nearby ATM after my service. I was booked for an "Express Yourself" package which includes an express mani/pedi and a facial completed simultaneously by a nail tech and an aesthitician. I think this offering is fantastic for those who want the pampering but don't have the time. I was greeted with a smile as soon as I walked in, and I was offered a beverage. Immediately after, my nail tech (I believe her name was Amanda, but I'm not 100% sure) arrived to introduce herself to me and we started promptly. My aesthetician, Melanie, set up a cool and relaxing playlist, then asked me about my skin so she could help tailor my facial. Both ladies were lovely and friendly. They efficiently attended to my needs and squeezed as much luxury in a short amount of time as possible. I am not easily impressed, and I feel that everyone went above and beyond to make sure my experience was as wonderful as possible. I left feeling much more relaxed and much happier than I arrived. I would absolutely recommend Shine, and I do not think this will be my last visit. read more

My experiences at Shine have all been wonderful. I always use Kyle because she is super awesome. They are always accommodating and make every effort to meet the customers needs. Just 4* for the price because I really hate paying so much money for a simple haircut. I have never colored my hair so I was really excited to book the appointment with Shine because I thought they had a good reputation... I scheduled an appointment here for 2PM for a color, cut, wash and blow dry. I specified over the phone to the receptionist that I wanted the balayage technique used rather than foils. She set me up with a stylist. I showed up to the salon on time and was taken in by the stylist. I explained to her what I was looking for and how excited I was since this was my first time adding color to my hair. I had been looking forward to this for a long time. She asked for a picture and when I showed it to her, without hesitation she said "oh no, I'm not going to have enough time for this." Then she talked about how she would need to take her time with the foils. It was then that I knew she didn't know how to do a balayage because the whole point behind that technique is to freehand paint the hair rather than use foils. She walked over to a coworker and began talking about it, how there wasn't enough time, as if I weren't sitting right there. And how she didn't want to do a "crap" job rushing to get out of there. To me, she seemed in a hurry to get out of there. It was 2PM and I didn't see why that wasn't enough time. She walked back over to me and told me I would have to reschedule. There is no way I would reschedule at Shine. First, because I was told they had a stylist capable of doing balayage when in fact the stylist had no idea what it was or how to do it and had there been enough time and she had not been in a hurry she would have attempted it using the completely wrong technique by using foils. And second because they were willing to let a new client walk out the door after booking an appointment knowing full well what I wanted beforehand- because of time. Just returned from my Living Social Mother's Day gift.... simultaneous mani-pedi & facial. WOW! A half hour never felt so amazing! Camille performed the most relaxing, soothing & refreshing facial as Julia did my mani-pedi with great care and professionalism. Pro's: environment has very zen feeling, Aveda concept salon, very clean, friendly staff, knowledgable and educated staff. I've been though so many salons due to poor service or quality. I decided to visit Shine and had my first appointment a few weeks ago. As I entered the salon, there were 3 or 4 staff members behind the counter, and it took a little while for them to notice me. However, when I was noticed I was pleasantly greeted and offered a beverage. I had gotten a haircut and must say that, the wash had to be the best I have received. The stylist provided a head massage and made the experience very relaxing & most enjoyable. The haircut and blow dry turned out amazing and the stylist listened to my needs. I was a repeat client for years, but the last three have been horrible. The reception/scheduling staff is inept and lazy. Several times I arrived for my appointment to find out that my stylist was overbooked. Twice I arrived to find out my stylist was out sick but no one bothered to tell me ahead of time. I receive reminder calls for appointments that are not mine and no reminders for the ones I actually did schedule. After an appointment, you will often find the front desk staff on their cell phones or the internet and it seems to be a huge inconvenience for them to accept your payment and reschedule your next appointment. This makes one think the actual managers/owners don't truly care about the clients or the stylists. When an appointment is screwed up, it's the stylist that suffers loss of income and aggravated clients. Sometimes the permanent loss of a client is the result. If you have nothing better to do that sit around and wait for your stylist to become available, then by all means, try Shine Salon. I decided my time was more valuable and I no longer want to patronize this business. Much too expensive for the amount ot time wasted due to negligence. At least at Cost Cutters, you get your monies worth!!! read more

I made the rounds of hair salons in the Wilton/Ridgefield/Westport area trying to find natural looking highlights. I have dark blonde hair that is rather thin and easily lifts with color. Everywhere I went they bleached my hair and then added a toner which looked great for four weeks. Then the toner wears off and I'm left with dark blonde growth and harsh highlights creating a really unattractive contrast. Finally, I went to Erin at Shine. She understood not only what I was seeking in terms of natural color but also how my hair reacts to it. The bleach/toner routine may be fine for thick dark hair but for natural blondes looking to retain a natural look Shine is the place. Also great that they use Aveda! read more

yes, the salon is nice; yes, the staff is friendly, but the rest... I was there for a 30 min. facial w/ polish change where two ladies worked on me at the same time. I really wouldn't call it a facial - the lady put a couple of different masks on my face, and the rest of the time massaged my head with oil so much that I came out with my hair looking awful and greasy... This is a warm & inviting place to treat yourself nicely. It smells wonderful and fresh inside and there are fresh flowers placed in bunches around the space. The front desk staff is very efficient and welcoming. Lauren is the stylist that I use and she is very talented, receptive & responsive to the customer's comments, and is also quite fun to talk to.
