I have been to Whip Salons several times (both Ridgefield and Avon) and each experience was just wonderful. The atmosphere is so up-beat that you can't help but feel happy while you are there. I also have had different stylists - Erin, Casey, Zahra and Agatha, to name a few . In my opinion they are all superb stylists, who take the time to listen to what you want so that you always end up with the perfect style - and exactly what you wanted. I have been to Whip a few times for haircuts and have been pleased with the result. I recently made an appointment for highlights. While everyone was very friendly, I left the salon and came home to find I had dark roots at the front of my hairline and the color in the front had turned orange. I called the next day to say I wasn't satisfied and the receptionist, who was so kind and accommodating, told me to come in and someone would take a look. They wanted me to make a new appointment, so they could take the time and fix it. The morning of my new appointment, the stylist was ill so they asked to reschedule, I asked to just have my money back and they would not refund me, I'm still waiting to hear back from management. After spending $200 on highlights, I shouldn't have to have it fixed or have obvious dark roots and discolored highlights. Very disappointed in my experience. read more

My 4 year old had an amazing experience with Olivia at Whip so when I scheduled his next haircut, I made a big deal about going in with Olivia again. Without letting me know, they switched the stylist. (Olivia was there doing a hair color so we got bumped off the schedule without notification so she could do a more lucrative appointment). In the end, I overpaid greatly for a 15 minute appointment (since my son wouldn't allow the different stylist to wash his hair). When I contacted them about it, they said I must have made a mistake since I booked it online. read more

Terrible experience- I provided a very clear image of what I wanted, and left with tinsel like shiny golden tiger stripe highlights through my hair, as well as a chin length bob (despite me being VERY clear on the length I wanted taken off). When I was leaving the salon everyone commented how amazing it was despite my clear distain, and them just trying to appease me- I decided not to be rash, and sit on it- see how it felt, however the pure disappointment only grew. A few days later I came back to have my hair fixed and only then, did multiple staff member actually admit that it was "terrible", "not at all like the picture that was provided", and "does resemble that of early 2000 cap strip highlights", when the stylist that originally did my hair was not in that day. They offered to "fix my cut" however, that would have only left me with even shorter hair, so that would not do much good for me. I completely understanding wanting to keep peace and back your colleagues, but if you can tell that something is insanely hideous, be upfront, run a business appropriately. Frankly, I think they have too many young stylists working there with not enough experience to properly teach each other how to navigate and course correct when dealing with situations that don't turn out ideal. Secondarily, the staff seems more consumed with hanging out with each other, than tending to the clients- my stylist was completely un-engaging (and for someone like myself, who personally does not want to chit chat through the entire session), I can appreciate someone being on the quieter side, but it was bordering on uncomfortable with the lack of communication, information regarding my hair being provided. Overall not a great experience- only thing going for them is that they have a good location, and they are reasonably priced. I would recommend them for a blow out, nothing else. read more

I went in to get the same service I had gotten before there and I ended up being stripped of the color in my hair and the toner made it dark and dull. I went back to get it corrected and it was worse than before I'm super surprised at the result as I requested "blonder and closer to the root". I sent pictures to showcase it and did not here back. I had recommended this salon to my friends and they went there but they both no longer will go there. read more

EDIT: 2/17/2020 I previously had a bad experience at this salon and with the customer service when I followed up via email. However, the owner contacted me directly with a very gracious and sincere apology. She took all of the right steps to make me feel heard and validated. She offered me a comp that is incentive enough for me to try the salon again. I will edit this review again when I revisit Whip. read more

Went to Kelsey and she SAVED MY HAIR. I went to a different salon for a balayage and it was just an awful job (IMO) and the color was just not what I asked for. Kelsey glazed and toned my hair to a beautiful color that looks more natural. She also gave me an amazing hair and brought my hair back to life :) she is also extremely easy to talk to. She told me exactly what she was doing with my hair. Great communication. read more

Yesterday I had highlights done by Julia at Whip Salon and let me tell you- she TRANSFORMED my hair and was so attentive to my needs and also the condition of my hair all throughout the entire appointment. She's been doing hair for a long time and I can't recommend her enough. Also, I was happy with the salons COVID-19 protocols and precautions they took to make sure clients are getting their services in a good environment. She was super friendly, a great listener and knew exactly what to do to make my long over due blonde hair come back to life. This salon has a great concept as it is convenient styling at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, they over-charged me for add-on lashes and after reaching out, management hasn't gotten back to me to discuss. Since his has gone unresolved I probably won't be going back here. read more

I recently lost my 37 year old daughter suddenly to cancer leaving behind her 20 month son behind. On the day of the memorial i just didnt have the strength to do my hair and make up. I happened to see the salon on a quick walk in Ridgefield the previous evening. I walked in that morning without an appointment. Emily blow dry my hair beautifully and also applied make up. She quickly washed some brushes since she didn't have any make up appointments on her schedule that day. When I went to the register to pay I was told NO CHARGE. It truly warmed my heart. I cant remember the last time i was treated so kindly. I now have a new place to go and have my hair blown dry. read more

I tried Whip Salon for the first time after doing some instagram research and seeing what their stylists are all about. As a first time client with no preference or knowledge of their different stylists I picked essentially at random. I have finer curly hair and was thrilled that we sat down with my hair dry and curly to talk about the cut before getting washed, being that usually I'm brought to a sink and then the stylist is getting with no reference of what my hair actually looks like. The cut was shorter than I expected and that we had discussed. I'd like to clarify, it was still a great haircut, just shorter than expected. It's hair. It grows. I was emailed and asked to do a review afterwards, where I explained my feelings on the experience and cut. The same day I was contacted by Whip Salon to discuss my review. She apologized, which I didn't need, again it's a good cut just a little short. No biggie. I was offered a free blow out service for whenever I would like as well as a recommendation of a stylist who would be better suited for cutting my hair. I really appreciated this as they clearly want their clients to be satisfied. The salon itself is beautiful and the staff are quite friendly. Because of this, as well as their outreach to my review, I will definitely return to Whip and try the recommended stylist! read more

Loved the experience at Whip. The staff was helpful, friendly, and talented. The decor was really fun and bright and I felt welcomed immediately after entering the salon. I had a one process color (which included a blow dry!!!). Erin (my stylist) was thoughtful when choosing the right color for my hair. She was very thorough and did a beautiful job - and the color "took" in a lot less time than I've experienced in the past. After she completed the color she applied the perfect glaze, gave me an amazing scalp massage, and finished with a gorgeous blow out. Don't bother! This place is one step above a Supercuts. Staff has limited talent and management is indifferent. Went several times when they first opened, but grew frustrated after several disappointing experiences and rushed service. Tried them again recently, and I ended up looking worse when I left than when I entered. I very specifically booked and then requested a volume blow dry. It was blown stick straight, and my bangs were a mess. I was so frustrated I called to speak to the manager on my way home. The person who answered suggested she was the manager, but when I pushed, I was told the owner/manager would call me the next day. It's been two weeks and I have given up. I have a monthly subscription for the blow dry service and I love it because it is so easy and they do a great job. I never wash my own hair now! I am able to get last minute appointments just about any time I want. I don't ever ask for a specific person because everyone gives me a good blow dry. Also I will only go to Cathy for eyelash extensions. She makes them look so natural and beautiful. They last a long time and are not harming my real ones. I never wear eye make up anymore. Whip = easier life for me. No brainer!! Highly recommend!! read more

Cathy Bull is by far the best eye lash extension artist in Fairfield county, and dare I say all of CT! I have been getting my eyelashes done for quite some time and have tried everything from high end salons to lash and brow specialists and they are all overpriced and don't do half as good of a job as Cathy! The material she uses is so light weight (yet high end) I barely realize I have extensions on. She takes such care in every application and my lashes have lasted way longer than all the other places where I have been ripped off by the ridiculously over priced extensions. I hear they are also opening one in Westport which I can not wait for! Everyone should experience lashes by Cathy they are phenomenal!!!!! read more
