The employee, Victor, painted my hair at least 3x darker that what I asked for. He didn't clean the paint of my neck and forehead and later wanted to scrub my face as it was a dirty floor! If that was not enough he market my shirt with color paint. When I tryed to communicate in the salon no one other than the receptionist was able to speak English! The receptionist left before I finished my hair so no one that could communicate was there! English is not my first language either, but you should be able to communicate to stay in business! Negative starts were not possible, the only reason you see one there!

I called and receptionist told me that the appointment was "rejected" and instead of offering me another time, she suggested I go somewhere else, with no explanation. I asked why they don't want my business, and she said Tamara would call me within a half hour. It has been hours now and no phone call... not the way to treat a potential new customer...

They had moved to River St I take responsibility for not knowing that, although there is no notice on website except the new address at the bottom. Not knowing they moved, of course I did not look for their address at the bottom of site when i booked online. I called to tell them i could not make it to my appt due to address change and my lack of transportation I asked them not to charge as I would re-book. But bc of their unfriendly customer service policies they charged me 50%. I expressed my opposition to this but they didnt care. And they also didnt care when i said i would find a new salon . Was it really worth it Salon Etre to lose a 10 yr customer over a policy and a 50% charge for a wash and blow out you did not deliver? I would have given some grace and made an exception for a 10 yr customer who had never canceled in the past, waived the fee, and used the salon's slush fund to cover the stylist. You would have had me for another 20 yrs!

I reached out on Yelp and was able to make an appointment for the same night! I was sitting in my car waiting for my appointment time (because of COVID) and Nyla stepped out the back for a moment, noticed I was in my car, and came to ask if I was Erica, then invited me to come inside to wait. I filled out a questionnaire and had my temperature taken which I appreciate because I'm concerned of COVID and the precautions being taken by business. Everyone was so nice! Her husband spoke with me for around 10 minutes while I waited; her shampoo girl was chatting with me the whole time; and Nyla herself was fantastic, making me feel at home. A customer before me said that I had chosen the best place to come - she has been going to Nyla for 20 years! My hair turned out beautifully... even better than I thought it would. I've been coming here for years but after these last two visits I will never come back. At the…read morefirst I came in excited to finally do a bigger chop and get a new look. After asking a specific length, I was told that they would cut it down but not that short and see how I felt which I didn't love but I said okay I guess. After it was cut, as expected, I asked for it to be cut shorter since the length they chose to do was not long enough and was told that it would be cut after it was styled. It was like she wanted me to see it so that I could just say yes after it was blow dried. After she blow dried it I asked for it to be cut shorter as I had originally requested and was given an attitude. She cut it again but it still wasn't as short as I had asked so I told her AGAIN. It made me uncomfortable because I didn't want to be a pain but at the same time as a paying customer I felt that I should get to choose what I would be happy with and it was not being cut the length that I wanted. Eventually, I finally asked her to cut it shorter for the last time and to which she audibly complained to her boss about having to cut it multiple times in front of me. I asked for half inch and my hair was cut from about shoulder length to chin length - I went home in tears. Now this time. I've come here for color before and the services have been great. This time I came in for a full dye (specifically) and asked for blonde and was told that it would not be as light as my reference in one visit as my hair was too dark. Understandable. But what I am bothered by is the fact that I specifically said multiple times that I did not want brown hair and even said that if it was going to be brown I would do another color. The teacher suggested brown instead and I was told to think on it. I said that I did not want to do brown and asked for it to be as light as possible. Was told that it might possibly be a darker ashy blonde or medium blonde. When all was said and done my hair is now uneven - various shades of brown with blonde highlights (I never asked for highlights and specifically said I wanted a full dye). On top of that my roots were left completely black and it looks like the color is already growing out (pic) like what is that ??? And it wasn't cheap. I was met with shock when I said I did not like it and had to pay as nothing would be done. Completely ridiculous I would never go back and much less recommend.

Only $28 for party hair was too good to pass up. I made an appointment for myself, sister, best friend, and mother/sister-in-law. Of the 5 of us, 3 were very happy with our hair, and 2 had to make adjustments themselves when they got home. I had Sally and was very happy with how full and bridal she made my hair look without making me look like a stranger. It held tight the whole night and looks great in all the photos. Two others in my group were also happy with how their hair came out. Two people in my group were unhappy with their hair. One clearly told her hair dresser that she did not want curls from a curling iron and instead ended up with "Shirley Temple" curls from a curling iron. Another in our group had her hair dresser leave in the middle of the appointment to pay her parking, and then start working on another client's hair when she returned without any explanation. It took much longer for her to have her hair done because of these distractions, and she ended up having to fix some of her hair when we got back. Overall I think it depends on which student you have do your hair. I would give my hair a 5, but others in my group were not happy so I gave a 3 overall. It can be hit or miss depending on the professionalism of the student. I am happy with how it came out, and the 2 that were unhappy with their hair were able to make adjustments themselves and resolve the issues they didn't like.
